It came out really nice! Quick question, is there much point in drilling out the holes in the handle material when you fill them all again with epoxy while setting the handle?
Thanks! It makes it so that there is more epoxy to bind the scales to the blade. I don’t know how much of a difference it makes in terms of strength, but it can’t hurt haha!
Another beautiful blade!! Do you use ceramic or aluminum oxide belts on your handles. Also, when smoothing and blending, what grit is your j-flex 1"x72" scalloped belt? Thanks for all the info you include in your videos.
Not sure I agree with the 120 grit and scotch brite prior to heat treatment just to go back to 60 grit.. but you can’t argue with the result! Very nice looking blade 👍🏻👍🏻 keep it up!
Thanks! It would probably be okay with going straight from 60 to heat treat. I just have read quite a lot of people who say that deep scratches from coarse belts can sometimes become stress risers and lead to cracks during the quench. It doesn’t take much extra work, so I just do it. Thanks a lot!
Super sick San Mai I wish I could make one of those. I'm just super poor and don't have a proper belt grinder or a ban saw. Someday I'll get there ☺️ but till then I'll learn from you my dude 😎
By the way for the rest of you the 1"x 30" belt grinder from harbor freight is not worth it super underpowered and the belts they have are poopcake. But ya like you said I'm just gunna keep working at it I have an anvil and furnace so I might just go that route for now
Thanks for the reply. Awesome work. Everything is so precise,. I try and follow a similar game plan when building my own, but your work is next level :)
That's a great design! Is there a way I could borrow it? I'm getting into knife-making, only having made a few vides, and I'd love to make a variation of that. Thanks!
I just realized you probably meant borrowing the design and not the actual knife I made haha! If so, feel free to take inspiration from it and just give me some design credit. 😉
Glad you enjoyed! I have a different video on my channel showing how I sharpen knives on a belt sander. It’s called something like “the fastest way to sharpen a knife.” 😃

This knife was given to me as a gift and I absolutely love it! It’s cool to see the video of the knife that I own! Thank you for your craftsmanship 💪🏽
Awesome, I’m so glad to hear you like it! Thank you for letting me know!
You do a great job showcasing your work flow. Please make more videos showing how you work. Very enjoyable and informative. Great attitude.
Thanks Manny! Glad you enjoyed!

@@StarkKnives It is also a great way to reduce weight in the handle! Epoxy isn't nearly as heavy as metal.
True, that’s one of the main reasons I do it as well. 👍🏼
That was an awesome fit and finish!
Thank you! :)
You are doing a great job man
I hope you'll get the support you deserve in the future
Because your work is great
I appreciate that! Thanks a lot!

Thanks for all the info you include in your videos.
Usually just worn out ceramics. The scalloped is 220 grit. 👍🏼
Good job Ben
Thanks a lot!

Is there a place one can get that 2x72 buffer attachment? Clever idea
It is from Brodbeck Ironworks! It works great.

Thanks for taking the time to answer.
As I say, I'm getting into knife-making, so need all the help I can get.
😄

Kind regards
Awesome job thanks
Thanks Don!

Thanks!
Firstly I enjoyed your video, can you tell me how to sharp your knife
Glad you enjoyed! I have a different video on my channel showing how I sharpen knives on a belt sander. It’s called something like “the fastest way to sharpen a knife.” 😃
What brand drill bits do you use?
I use cobalt bits. There are some pretty cheap ones on Amazon that do the trick well.
@@StarkKnives would have a brand from Amazon that you could suggest?

Where do get your stencils? Thanks
Often from TUS technologies. :)
Nice
Thanks!
Do you like 14c28 steel ?
I haven’t used it myself! I believe I have heard good things about it though.
@@StarkKnives Heard good things about AEB-L too, sad that nobody use these steels :(
I use AEBL pretty often along with Nitro-V and have had no issues with either one!
Big sexy. Another successful project, well done. You are a handle shaping master. Didn’t realize you shaped your own kydex!
Yessir! Thanks for the compliments!
