NMetal25 I still find Ghost boring to listen to, its not bad! Maybe I'll change my mind 1 day, their 1st album was ok, but everything after seemed less interesting!
I was the same with Radiohead and Pink Floyd but now their 2 of my favourite bands of all time. In Rainbow and Wish You Were Here changed everything for me.
I always enjoy your videos- they're well thought out, intelligently presented and I respect that you are humble enough to say "hey, I trashed this band once upon a time, and now that I know more and have heard more, I respect or even like them". Keep up the good work!
My intent wasn't to feed his ego but to voice my opinion that I respect his opinion. So glad I live in a world where opinion is not fact or law, and we can all have our own. As I see you have yours.
Sonic Kong - reviews are subjective by nature (especially music reviews). It is the reviewers opinion, not the be all, end all. I can "like" their video and respect what they do for what it is. I may or may not have a different opinion. I certainly don't take one reviewers opinion and try to pass it onto others as fact, or the truth as you call it (that is not what having an open mind means). By the way, I saw the DownFall video a while ago. I like some of the reviews there, and some are not my cup of tea. Just like CKN. I appreciate you trying to enlighten me to the "truth" though. That is all I am going to say on the matter 'cause I'd rather not spend any more time on it.
If you listen to the deeper cuts that aren't constantly played on the radio, you'll understand the true talent that they have. This is just my opinion, of course.
Matthew Shields that’s not your opinion sir or ma’am. That’s a fact(; synister gates is one of the best guitarists of all time. And m shadows is one of the best vocalists.
5-Slipknot(they scared me when I was 10) 4-Tool(I though there songs were too long until I found the reasons why they were too long) 3-Baby Metal(I feeled weird couse I tried to hate them but I couldn't) 2-Trivium(I used to be an elitist that hated metalcore but after I listened to Down From The Sky I was amazed and then I started to listen to metalcore, deathcore, etc) 1-Slayer (the intro from raining blood used to scared me the shit out of me,I felt like the demon was going to take me to hell or someyhing like tha,but as times pases this band became one of my favorites)
Thrash Metal and Thrash Metal bands that make ballads are the last of the good breed of Metal. Modern Metal is just Metalcore band after Metalcore band with no ballads if Metal can still be good for me an band needs to make a ballad because of the emotional way ballads connect to me that's why I love Thrash Metal and Old School Death Metal because back then even the Extreme Metal bands would occasionally do a ballad.
I hated Ghost at first, simply because in 2015 everyone voted for Meliora as Loudwire's best album of the year over Maiden's The Book of Souls. Without any reasoning, I hated them. Then I listened to Meliora, and I thought it was ok. Then I listened again, and I thought it was ok. Then I started to really enjoy it, and now I love them. It's pretty funny how it can change like that.
I can easily understand people not liking Babymetal, J-Pop and Metal is an odd mix, and I imagine the vast majority of people are unsure of how to react when they first listen to them - but I found I enjoyed them right from the first song I heard. I find their music fun and I appreciate that it isn't so serious, I'm also a big fan of the vocals (especially Su) and that due to the nature of the group, they can try their hand at any Genre of metal they want.
I purchased Midian in a shop in London and remember the first time i listened to the entire album driving through Paris. the architecture and the music was a perfect match.
Bands I used to dislike but I grew to love: 1. Avenged Sevenfold. I didn't hate them at first. I actually really enjoyed City Of Evil when it came out and it was my first experience with the band. Their self titled however left a sour taste in my mouth and I hate them for a long time after that. It wasn't until around 2013 when Hail To The King came out that I started to like them again and now I enjoy the self titled album more than I did before. 2. Opeth. I thought they were shit lol. I first discovered them in 2008ish when Watershed came out (through a guy I used to jam with who was a huge fan of Opeth) and I thought they were awful. I didn't get it. Fast forward 2-3 years and once I started getting into prog a lot more, I came to appreciate and love Opeth. Now they are one of my favourite bands. 3. Mastodon. Another band I couldn't stand when they first came out in the early 2000s. Fast forward MANY years later when Once More Round the Sun came out and I started to become a fan and like Opeth, they've become one of my favourite bands. 4. Anthrax. I didn't really hate Anthrax but I wasn't a huge fan. When Joey Belladonna rejoined and they released Worship Music, I started enjoying them a lot more and went and revisited their older stuff. Now I'm a fan. 5. Black Metal. Not a band no but I still feel it fits. I used to hate black metal and though I'm still not entirely fond of it, I've grown to respect it more and I've even grown to love certain bands with the sub genre (I think my avatar speaks for that).
1. Marilyn Manson (because my mom said it was satanic, I know, it's stupid, but I was still a kid) 2. Yngwie Malmsteen (Because I saw no musical evolution, I'm not the biggest fan, but I really like his albums with Tim "Ripper" Owens) 3. AC/DC (pretty much the same reason as Marilyn Manson) 4. Metal in spanish (because I thought it was mediocre and unoriginal, hell I was wrong) 5. Iron Maiden (because I thought they were a copy of Judas Priest because of the vocal style of Bruce Dickinson) I know most of these are stupid reasons, but that was when I was still a noob Metalhead
Martín Cantú well, yeah I'll give You some: Puya (Puerto Rico)- They have some Thrashy riffs and good solos, combined with elements of Salsa, jazz and a little bit of Rapcore I recommend the album Fundamental (1999) Rata Blanca (Argentina)- A Power Metal band that is heavily influenced by Iron Maiden I recommend their self-titled debut album (1988) Mägo de Oz (Spain)- This is pretty much a Power Metal, Folk Metal and Symphonic Metal hybrid, but I really like it I recommend their album Gaia (2003) Check them out and tell me your opinion
Judas priest is a worse version of iron maiden. Iron maiden: 5.5/10 judas priest: 2/10 Black Sabbath 8/10 Metallica 11/10 Megadeth 4.5/10 Slayer 10/10 Pantera 10/10
Raven Back then I was a little sceptical about the use of eletronic elements in metal (because I saw many bad examples like Asking Alexandria and Attack Attack) but when I actually tried Fear Factory, I loved the experience and learned that eletronic elements can be used in metal in many great ways.
Ah, yea. Fear Factory are one of the reasons why I love Industrial Metal/Industrial Death, but yea, I loved Fear Factory on first listen back when someone decided to play them. I love them even more nowadays, Demanufacture being one of my favorite albums of all time.
whenever i put on dragonforce's inhuman rampage, it's like getting repeatedly blasted in the head by a gigantic power metal sonic wave and when the album ends i regain consciousness and ask myself "what the hell was that? i remember listening to ttfatf and then everything is a blur." their music isn't bad, but it is hard to distinguish one song from the other, even if their riffing is far from unimpressive.
robiu013 well Dragon force is a very style over substance band, that honestly, if you can't tell one song from another, oh well, just listen to them shred. That's why the band exists, to shred.
I'd say they got much better after Marc joined. Maximum overload is definitely my favorite. The songs aren't that long and they actually sound pretty different from one another. The bonus songs on the special edition are especially 🔥
BallsDeep69 I definitely agree with you, Marc was the reason I started listening to DragonForce again, my first reaction when listening to "The Power Within" was: "Wow! The singer improved a lot!" To my surprise, it wasn't the original vocalist anymore!
I hated Mastodon at first. Blood Mountain was the first I heard of them. Bought it on a whim, because a buddy of mine recommended it, I instantly regretted it. Over a decade later,Mastodon is hands down my favorite band, and in my opinion, the best band of any genre, this century. It's clear to me now that Mastodon's Blood Mountain wasn't the problem...I was the problem.
Same happened to me. At first I heard parts of The Hunter, I remember I was just cringing all the way through, thought it sounded so "dad". Of course I had been familiar with them prior to that, but I just took it for granted that for a band so famous as Mastodon, they must be tacky anyways. Then I bit the bullet and tried Leviathan, man... I was instantly blown away.
I love them all. I guess I'm one of the few that loves The Hunter. That album is awesome, imo. Crack The Skye is the one that won me over though. To me that's just their "gateway" album.
Luckily I had only heard blood and thunder when I first saw mastodon live supporting Mars volta. They were chilling at the bar later in the evening and seemed really cool so I kind of committed myself to them. Great band and regularly play more songs in their set than most others. I was lucky enough to be at Brixton for the recording of their live album and they played 23 songs which was epic. I would recommend seeing them live even if you're not a big fan of all the albums.
Ghost for me. It took me a lot of listens to get into their first album, but each time I found something that made go back and listen to it again. Then it just clicked and I've been a huge fan ever since. Seen them live twice and both times they were great.
I used to not like Pantera as much but ever since I heard the song 10's I got a little more into them. I guess thanks to that Dragon Ball Z movie with Broly.
Bands I used to dislike and now I love : 1- Inquisition - I was totally new to the Black Metal scene and Dagon's vocals was just terrible at that time for me. Today they're one my top 5 BM bands and for me Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual Mystical Macrocosm is one of the best BM albums ever 2- Type O Negative - Took me some time to like them, just when I was in love with Gothic/Doom Metal a few year ago I tried to hear them again, and man, waht a great band Peter (R.I.P.) was an great musician/songwriter 3- Motorhead - Yeah, wtf I was thinking ? 4- Nightwish - Just wasn't as good as Epica (and still don't be XP) but I really grow on my, they're really great 5- Avenged Sevenfold - They were just Metallica wanna be , but after listening to the self title album and the song Welcome to the Family I became to really like them
Didn't care for the deathcore genre as a whole for years. Just now got into late last year and still going. Discovered some pretty damn wicked heavy bands, I like it! Like the haircut btw
My #1 band I disliked but grew to love is the Beatles. I thought of them as 60's One Direction, then I listened to their stoner/later year stuff and it was great. They are now my favorite band
1. Meshuggah- went and bought Chaosphere and honestly, it gave me a headache! Went back to it a month later, little by little the headache receded. Now they're one of my favorites! 2. AC/DC- thought them too simple in their sonic structure. First album was Who made Who which up to this day I won't listen to. Got Back in Black years later and for some reason I got it. 3. Korn- 1995 and everybody was freaking out over Korn. Got the album and I just couldn't get into it. No speed, no musical dexterity or prowess per se, it just didn't do anything for me. Second album same thing. It was when Follow the leader came out I saw the light. 4. Dokken- I could very put in hair metal on the whole: flashy, party- anthem shit was and still is not my thing. However I checked out Under lock and key and found something about these guys which held appeal. Just the chords they employ and the way the write kinda made it enjoyable.
1. Opeth. Wanted to like them so much but the vocals killed it for me. Then I started to listen to Ghost Of Perdition and The Grand Conjugation a bit more and liked them. Then I listened to Ghost Reveries and loved their style and the vocals seemed much better the more I listened. One of my favs now. 2. Tool. Used to dislike them, but I began to love then the more I understood their lyrics. 3. Radiohead. I began to appreciate them the more I stopped concentrating on the lyrics and more of the feel and style.
That's how it usually goes for Opeth. Older folks I knew, or around my age (I'm 54) hated "cookie monster" vocals, but the more they heard their music, the more they got used to it all. And then they got into other bands with rough vocals. But I had been a fan since the debut of "Still Life", and was a Death Metal fan before discovering them, so I loved them from the 1st listen, and their brand of Death Metal was soo damned different than others. Lifelong fan :). Tool got better for me with each album I heard debut. I also like all the bands they influenced and inspired. Radiohead, I always have to be in the right mood for.
Queensryche was a band I didn't like at first but always kept going back to and literally asking "why the fuck" every time... Red Hot Chili Peppers is a band I used to roll my eyes to when I ws a kid when they were VERY overplayed on the radio, but the music gives me so much nostalgia of growing up in south Florida, and now I realize they were actually quite interesting, musically... Other bands like Styx and Queen are bands that took a while to grow on me because I thought the more commercial songs were awful, but going deep into their catalogues they've got TONS of great stuff...
System Of A Down was a band I never liked them because Serj's vocals and lyric writing annoyed me. And then Daron chiming in on certain songs was enough to drive me away from the band and I didn't understand that people liked them. Then I gave a listen to a couple albums and found to really enjoy them. Then the songs I hated ended up being songs I loved. So yeah.
The issue I have with Dragonforce is that I can't tell one track from another. I respect their musicianship but they must sometime be on stage and think "shit, which song are we playing again?"
For me: System of a Down - SoaD are the band that pretty much single-handedly got me into heavy metal. i liked it before them but after I started to listen to the I became obsessed with the genre. But to start with I didn't like them much at all, I found them too weird and at the time too heavy. But I very quickly got into them and now they're my all time favorite band, and I owe my obsession with music all to them. Deftones - I tried to listen to this band after I became obsessed with SoaD because I heard they were similar, but they're kinda not very similar at all and I was disappointed. I didn't really think they were all that impressive. Now they're one of my all time favorite bands, and probably my favorite atm. Slayer - I for the longest time did not like this band, even after I got into extreme metal. Now they're one of my favorite bands ever and I saw them live for their farewell tour in June. Bloody amazing show. Tool - this band fucking took like over a year to get into, an I don't even know why. Now they're one of my favorite bands and Lateralus is easily one of my favorite albums ever made. Lastly, pretty much all of extreme metal, or at least metal with harsh vocals. I never saw myself liking it, then I listened to Lamb of God and couldn't get over how badass it sounded. I did like Pantera, but that was the only exception up to that point. After getting into LoG I listened to metalcore for a while, which I liked, and then I finally got into death metal by listening to Death. Pretty much abandoned core and discovered my love fr extreme metal. Didn't like black metal however for a very, very long time. Now I love it for the most part.
I didn't like Rush when I was Highschool cause of Geddys vocals, but through time, I realized the musicianship was tight, I was more of a fan. I'm still not huge into them, even now that they broke up
- Mabuchi: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rush_(band)#2009%E2%80%932018:_Time_Machine_Tour,_Clockwork_Angels,_R40%E2%80%93final_tour_and_disbandment Unfortunately they have "retired" as a band since Peart was having physical problems, tired of touring and wanted to be with family. Alex and Ged still talk about doing music, but Alex has some physical problems as well. Was blessed to see them since the "Signals" Tour, and saw their "last" tour as well. Been a fan since 1981. Geds voice was never a big deal for me (in getting into the band), it was that their music (for me as a kid not understanding in 1980) had such odd transitions, especially "Spirit of Radio", it went over my head :P. But when the Moving Pictures album came out, in 1981, I finally "got it" and became my fave band :). Though . . . I was REALLY disappointed by their last album (I like "3" songs?) :(.
Being a fan for so long, I think they needed a better "Producer" for that album to make their ideas work. I WISH they brought back "Terry Brown" that produced soo many of their classic albums. I didn't "hate" the album, but I just think it could have been great, especially because I waited soo long ("decades") for a Concept album. But don't get upset, I pretty much love the rest of their catalogue. You can read more about how I got into them here: mavearworx.weebly.com/blog/witnessing-the-birth-of-progressive-metal-part-1-of-2 Yes, would love to read that book too. Btw - I also attended this (the anniversary is coming up): mavearworx.weebly.com/blog/finding-my-way-rush-and-the-hollywood-walk-of-fame-revisited
My top 3 favorite bands are Muse, A7X, and Queens of the Stone Age. Its funny because I used to really dislike them all when I first heard their music. But something clicked one day and now I'm a diehard fan of all of them.
Megadeth - I was never a fan of Daves vocals, obviously I loved the shredding but couldn't get passed the vocals. Eventually learned to appreciate them. Opeth. Again I was originally never a fan of death metal vocals but over time I appreciated them more to now having blackwater park as one of my favourite albums of all time.
I have respect for your opinion and ideas because your able to think deeply about music. I like that you're able to separate style & cultural following from the actual musicianship. With the Slipknot example- the band drew in huge goth/emo crowds because of the aesthetic but actually had real musicianship going on that went beyond the particular culture that attached itself to it. It's a shame because so many bands get overlooked for that reason. One album that took me a while to appreciate was Alien Ant Farm. Bought it for the Smooth Criminal cover and after listening to the rest of the album I almost threw it in the trash. Returned to it months later and became one of my favorite albums. Also what's your opinion of Deftones? Thanks.
Totally get the theme of this video. Didn't like Cradle of Filth the first time I head them but re-discovered them through side project Devilment and they're great!
Dragonforce I resisted for so long. I don't know what I thought they sounded like, but after years of so many people telling me to try them out, I finally conceded to a friend and searched up a song on RUclips. I apologized to him afterward for the way I had previously refused to listen to the band, since they turned out to have exactly the sound I'd wanted to hear.
It's Disturbed for me. I felt like their music was not great and that their songs were all similar and how I had a preference for older metal and disliked Nu-Metal generally. But Disturbed had so many songs that really spoke to me whenever I felt depressed, and at certain points of my life were my favorite band to listen to.
The only bands I can think of that I didn’t like but then grew to enjoy are Blink 182 and New Found Glory. With Blink, it was mostly because people around me were hyping them up like they were revolutionary, and they didn’t click with me (largely because I wasn’t as into pop punk as I am now). And with NFG, it mainly had to do with my not liking the vocals, as well as again, pop punk not really being my thing yet. What got me to look back into both of them was the drummer in my band citing both bands as influences.
Raphael Herter what metalcore bands have you listened to? I might give some good recommendations (this is coming from someone that also used to hate metalcore to, so I know where you're coming from).
WOLF 35 i listened to some core bands but could never get fully into them. Same thing with Dimmu Borgir. I can listen to them but i get sick of it after some minutes.
Raphael Herter here check the following, (these are some old school ones soo you might like them more): Bleeding Through; Unearth; August Burns Red; Phinehas; Every Time I Die; Killswitch Engage (you probably already know this one); Eighteen Visions;
One notable band for me was Dragonforce where, in high school, I was under the impression that they were pretentious and there was no way they could play their stuff live. I was so wrong, and my love was truly kindled with The Power Within.
For me, it took a while for me to get into Opeth, BTBAM, and Tool. I love both of those bands now. I still am not very fond of Slipknot, Napalm Death, or Cannibal Corpse but I repect them all as musicians
I was pretty put-off by stoner metal for quite some time (despite liking down-tuned guitars and slow, massive riffs), but just recently I went through Sleep's Dopesmoker and Electric Wizard's Dopethrone. I had heard songs from these albums before, but at that time found them boring and in particular the vocals of Sleep pretty annoying. However, now I think the Sleep album is quite ok, and Electric Wizard album actually blew my mind a little, so I will revisit them once more at some point.

Frank Zappa. Thought he was too "out there" at first, but now I realize he was one HELL of a guitarist and composer (and I finally "got" his music). Joni Mitchell. Thought she was too whiny and boring at first, but after getting Sirius XM radio and hearing a lot of stuff by her, I realized how GREAT a songwriter and musician she is. She's really grown on me over the years.
I definitely didn't understand System of a Down when I first heard them. At the time it sounded way too 'weird' and 'out there' for me. It took a while, but I did eventually start to appreciate them. Though they're still far from my favourite band in the world, I get the appeal of the now. I do like a handful of their songs.
Once upon a time I thought Meshuggah was extremely overrated. Then I intently listened to Nothing and DEI and slowly fell in love with their entire catalogue.
5. Judas Priest 4. Iron Maiden 3. Avatar 2. Tool 1. Meshuggah Used to HATE all those bands because I had only heard their "popular" songs. Once I delved into their discography I came to love all of them. Now they are all in my all-time top-10 favorite lists.
Some artists that I hated but ended up loving (I listen to multiple genres, there are barely any metal bands on this list) Panic! at the disco (made the mistake of listening to pray for the wicked first and didn’t like them for about a year until I listened to a fever you can’t sweat out,now they are one of my favorite bands) My chemical romance/fall out boy(I used to shit on emos because I have a friend that did the same till I met some girls who turned me on to panic, fall out boy and mcr and I ended up loving them) Sleeping with sirens(turned off by them immediately because of kellin Quinn’s vocals but ended up coming back to them a few months later and ended up enjoying their first two albums quite a bit) Asking Alexandria/bmth/suicide silence (used to hate them because I was an elitist for the first few months of listening to metal, now I love all three bands a lot) Ghost (used to hate them because my friend hyped the hell out of them ended up liking their debut quite a bit) Architects (used to not like them because I wasn’t used to the type of vocals Sam does they are now one of my favorite metalcore bands). Billie Eilish and Ariana grande (turned off by them immediately because they are pop musicians and liking pop is “not manly” but then I listened to thank u next and when we all fall asleep where do we go and ended up loving both albums quite a bit). Their are probably more I can’t think of right now.
To me it's BTBAM. I disliked their theatrical and chaotic take on progressive death metal, but after a while, I grew to really love it! Their take on death metal, although very chaotic a lot of the time, has such a unique and fun charm that always makes me want more. Colors and The Great Misdirect are amazing albums. Also the way that they combine so many different unconventional genres together always makes me smile and laugh :)
i used to fucking hate ghost always ripped on those dudes. I think i was trying to compare them to metal which they are not they are hard rock. I heard square hammer and it gave me a blue oyster cult type vibe and now i really really like them.
I didn't like the vocals of architects at first, saw them live twice (sort of, at a festival so I happened to see some of it while walking around) and didn't care for it. Then a few months later I clicked on a song on yt and was like "well, fuck, this is good"
My number one would definitely be overkill. I used to hate the vocals and they were an instant turn off for me and i grew to like them after listening to where it hurts.
5. Hit the arrow too fast. Lastly Aerosmith. Pump came out and it was too poppy for me. And everybody else were freaking out over these guys (?). Permanent Vacation I got next and that sounded heavier. By that time I sorta came around for Pump as well. They've become one of my favorites although of late, I dunno.....
I didn't like Slipknot when I first heard them either but then I saw them on TV performing at Rock on the Range in 2014 and I was mesmerized by the show- long story short, I'm a total maggot now
I used to find Cannibal Corpse boring, now I actually quite like Cannibal Corpse. Also, some albums take me a couple of listens to fully appreciate, when I first heard Iced Earth - Night Of The Stormrider for example I didn't think much of it, but after a couple of listens it became one of my favorite albums. Same goes for Sepultura - Beneath The Remains, thought it was boring when I first heard it, now I actually really like it.
For me was Disgorge, I didn’t hate it back then but I still can’t really get into it now, but I like disgorge worship bands such as Disentomb, what it is with Disgorge are that there are WAAAAAY too many tempo changes, just far too much.
Megadeth, I didn't hate them, I just didn't really like their music, and i kept trying to get into them and surely but slowly I started to like em, now they are my favorite Thrash band and 2nd favorite Metal band (Slipknot being #1) Same thing with Anthrax, they are in my top 5
I first heard avenged sevenfolds beast and the harlot and couldn't get over the vocals and thought they sucked. then I heard WTF and thought they were awesome even though they sounded way different.then I eventually grew to like shadows nasally vocals and Coe is one of my favorite albums OAT mainly because of the guitar work and nostalgia.
funny enough, my first experiences with both Black Sabbath and Yes were not very impressive...... now, they would both easily make my top 5 greatest bands of all time......
Bolt Thrower for me. At first the idea of battle death metal seemed stupid to me. Didn't not like their cover art either; always thought it was completely out of place and belonged more in the Manowar universe. Then I did a complete 180. No I think they're actually THE best death metal band ever. Their music simply doesn't get boring (which I cannot say about Morbid Angel, who I used to adore growing up in the 90's) and they always invoke the sense of this war-like emergency and battle-frenzy which just gets me pumped up and energized.
My biggest example I can think of is Ghost. It took them awhile to grow on me, but now I really love them.
NMetal25 same here took me a while to grow on me
Fernando sebastian Hahaha what is that supposed to mean?
Петар Стојановић it means that took me a while to grow on me
Fernando sebastian Kk, you phrased it a bit weird
NMetal25 I still find Ghost boring to listen to, its not bad! Maybe I'll change my mind 1 day, their 1st album was ok, but everything after seemed less interesting!
How about the opposite?
5 bands you liked that you don't anymore
I got really burnt out on prog bands
Justin Hughes
You only listen to prog Rock/Metal?
Nu metal
Saiyan From Mobius
I like early BFMV and I lo ve Disturbed, but it's your opinion
Saiyan From Mobius
But I really hate Limp Bizkit
Tool. I wasn’t impressed when they first came out but now Tool is my all time favorite band.
Same
I still don’t understand tool
youre boring
The first time I heard Tool was in an odd-time demonstration with Schism. From there I decided I would memorize their entire discography.
Tool has one great song--Vicarious.
Am I the only one that wants to straighten the CD's?
Straighten wha Oh...CD.
People have been commenting on the CDs for years. I think he deliberately does that to mess with people, lol.
I didn't like overkill at first but now they're one of my favorite bands
"Enjoy listening to Muse, cocksuckers."
I know you were being sarcastic, but I still spit coffee all over my desk. Well played sir.
Avenged Sevenfold comes to mind. Never gave them a fair chance until I saw them open for Metallica in 2016 and hoooooly shit, was I mistaken.
They really are shit
Hell yeah man. They are awesome live. I see them every time they come to town

3-Baby Metal(I feeled weird couse I tried to hate them but I couldn't)

1-Slayer (the intro from raining blood used to scared me the shit out of me,I felt like the demon was going to take me to hell or someyhing like tha,but as times pases this band became one of my favorites)
Tool... the songs are long cause... ;)
Babymetal is so easy to hate
I honestly did not care for Deftones or Tool when I first heard them; now they are two of my all time favorite bands.
Same 🤘🏻😎 Deftones Around The Fur and Tool Ænima are my #1 albums of all time!
I used to hate Metallica and just thrash metal in general. Now, it's one of my favorites and Metallica also
Thrash Metal and Thrash Metal bands that make ballads are the last of the good breed of Metal.
It took me til my late 20s to really appreciate Opeth, now I think they’re one of the best bands in the genre.
When i first listened to Babymetal i didn't know how to react to them but they grew on me and now i love them.
Kitsune Metal Reloaded Same here! Once I got into them, I was addicted. Listened to them everyday for like 6 months
Babymetal is really a oddball for me. I'd really love to hate them, but I can't. They're just that kind of odd awesome I guess.
I'm totally obsessed.
Babymetal has great instrumental but worse vocals than bieber
I purchased Midian in a shop in London and remember the first time i listened to the entire album driving through Paris. the architecture and the music was a perfect match.
Bands I used to dislike but I grew to love:
Lurch Murphy I hated "Hail To The King"
Lurch Murphy
Great that you grew to like Black Metal. There’s a ton of bands for you to discover.
What was your first Black Metal band?
The Elpresador
Me?
@@Misantroph0 Yes
I have seen Dragonforce twice in the last 2 years, i can tell you that they absolutely can play live!
1. Marilyn Manson (because my mom said it was satanic, I know, it's stupid, but I was still a kid)
2. Yngwie Malmsteen (Because I saw no musical evolution, I'm not the biggest fan, but I really like his albums with Tim "Ripper" Owens)
3. AC/DC (pretty much the same reason as Marilyn Manson)
4. Metal in spanish (because I thought it was mediocre and unoriginal, hell I was wrong)
5. Iron Maiden (because I thought they were a copy of Judas Priest because of the vocal style of Bruce Dickinson)
I know most of these are stupid reasons, but that was when I was still a noob Metalhead
Jorge L. Nieves I still think that about metal in Spanish lol but I haven't really given it much of a chance, any band or song suggestions?
Martín Cantú well, yeah I'll give You some:
Puya (Puerto Rico)- They have some Thrashy riffs and good solos, combined with elements of Salsa, jazz and a little bit of Rapcore I recommend the album Fundamental (1999)
Rata Blanca (Argentina)- A Power Metal band that is heavily influenced by Iron Maiden
I recommend their self-titled debut album (1988)
Mägo de Oz (Spain)- This is pretty much a Power Metal, Folk Metal and Symphonic Metal hybrid, but I really like it
I recommend their album Gaia (2003)
Check them out and tell me your opinion
Judas priest is a worse version of iron maiden. Iron maiden: 5.5/10 judas priest: 2/10 Black Sabbath 8/10 Metallica 11/10 Megadeth 4.5/10 Slayer 10/10 Pantera 10/10
@@cfsproductions871 eh Judas priest was the start of poweremetal. So eh ni
How about bands you used to love, but now hate or just don't like anymore?
I used to hate Fear Factory and Killswitch Engage. Now they're some of my all time favorite bands.
What made you hate Fear Factory at first?
And now that you say that, Fear Factory is one of my all-time favorite bands aswell.
Tbh my friend loves them but I've never been the biggest Killswitch Fan idk why they just never clicked with me.
Miguel35w Im the same I disliked ff at first now they are my favourite band ever
whenever i put on dragonforce's inhuman rampage, it's like getting repeatedly blasted in the head by a gigantic power metal sonic wave and when the album ends i regain consciousness and ask myself "what the hell was that? i remember listening to ttfatf and then everything is a blur." their music isn't bad, but it is hard to distinguish one song from the other, even if their riffing is far from unimpressive.
robiu013 well Dragon force is a very style over substance band, that honestly, if you can't tell one song from another, oh well, just listen to them shred. That's why the band exists, to shred.
I'd say they got much better after Marc joined. Maximum overload is definitely my favorite. The songs aren't that long and they actually sound pretty different from one another. The bonus songs on the special edition are especially 🔥
Every song from Dragonforce's first 4 albums sounds exactly the same!
@@craigw7339 Still hate them. I've tried and tried but they just don't do it for me sadly
BTBAM, Opeth, Obituary, a few that come to mind. Love these bands now.
SuperNovaThomas That scene was amazing! Def made them more appealing to me!
I used really dislike a band like BMTH but I think there 2013 album improved prowess as a band.
and then they ruined it with whatever the fuck their latest album is
I disagree. I think their first 3 albums were the best then everything after that including sempiternal became shit.
Pseudo-intellectual Lucy for me I never got to listen that album.
only their first album is good
Ehh sempiternal is still my favorite record they've done since I don't care much for deathcore and their old work.
Bands I used to dislike and now I love :
1- Inquisition - I was totally new to the Black Metal scene and Dagon's vocals was just terrible at that time for me. Today they're one my top 5 BM bands and for me Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual Mystical Macrocosm
is one of the best BM albums ever
2- Type O Negative - Took me some time to like them, just when I was in love with Gothic/Doom Metal a few year ago I tried to hear them again, and man, waht a great band Peter (R.I.P.) was an great musician/songwriter
3- Motorhead - Yeah, wtf I was thinking ?
4- Nightwish - Just wasn't as good as Epica (and still don't be XP) but I really grow on my, they're really great
5- Avenged Sevenfold - They were just Metallica wanna be , but after listening to the self title album and the song Welcome to the Family I became to really like them
Didn't care for the deathcore genre as a whole for years. Just now got into late last year and still going. Discovered some pretty damn wicked heavy bands, I like it!
Like the haircut btw
When I first heard Opeth I was laughing at them. I was like wtf is this. Then I heard Ghost of Perdition and they have never left my cd changer since.
My #1 band I disliked but grew to love is the Beatles. I thought of them as 60's One Direction, then I listened to their stoner/later year stuff and it was great. They are now my favorite band
jmac3y The Beatles were never like a boy band
Steelinversion83 their early work was
jmac3y OMG SAME
jmac3y I used to hate the Beatles and they’re my second favorite band after nirvana
Mike Stanislaus As an avid Meshuggah listener, Chaosphere is their weakest album production wise.
My only example would be the movie Crow: City of Angels, I watch it every couple of years and it's always just as bad as I remember, often worse lol
Gorguts. The more i forced myself through obscura the more i realized its the best album of all time
Mastodon grew on me very slowly and they’re now easily my top 5 all time favorite band. Something about them just clicks with me now.
I respect their musicianship but they must sometime be on stage and think "shit, which song are we playing again?"
was Ghost for me, now im addicted to them
Ghost is my daily dose of everyday! 👻
I have that same CoF shirt except it's long sleeve
One band I used to not like but grew to like is Oceano, I'm not really big into deathcore but goddamn it's brutal and I like it
For me:
System of a Down - SoaD are the band that pretty much single-handedly got me into heavy metal. i liked it before them but after I started to listen to the I became obsessed with the genre.
I actually really didn’t Metallica at first but now and justice for all... is my all time favorite album.
I didn't like Rush when I was Highschool cause of Geddys vocals, but through time, I realized the musicianship was tight, I was more of a fan. I'm still not huge into them, even now that they broke up
Mean Matts World rush is not a band no more what what
- Mabuchi: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rush_(band)#2009%E2%80%932018:_Time_Machine_Tour,_Clockwork_Angels,_R40%E2%80%93final_tour_and_disbandment Unfortunately they have "retired" as a band since Peart was having physical problems, tired of touring and wanted to be with family.
Though . . . I was REALLY disappointed by their last album (I like "3" songs?) :(.
mvunit3 so you hated the Clockwork Angels album they made
mvunit3 and also read the clock work Angels book by Kevin Anderson
Being a fan for so long, I think they needed a better "Producer" for that album to make their ideas work. I WISH they brought back "Terry Brown" that produced soo many of their classic albums. I didn't "hate" the album, but I just think it could have been great, especially because I waited soo long ("decades") for a Concept album. But don't get upset, I pretty much love the rest of their catalogue. You can read more about how I got into them here: mavearworx.weebly.com/blog/witnessing-the-birth-of-progressive-metal-part-1-of-2
Yes, would love to read that book too.
Btw - I also attended this (the anniversary is coming up):
mavearworx.weebly.com/blog/finding-my-way-rush-and-the-hollywood-walk-of-fame-revisited
Thanks.
I'm not your buddy, guy!
Thomas Horton I'm not your guy friend
Al Levine I'm not your friend, buddy.
Thomas Horton I’m not your buddy, guy!
Mastodon. They pulled me in with their newer albums.
Dillinger Escape Plan and Slayer. Both bands are so aggressive that it took time to fully grasp and get into it
whats the song's name thats playing in the background?
Zappa. I dident get it one bit and now i do....or do i?
Used to have that same shirt in high school.
I used to hate extreme metal
Now I fucking love it
Have you ever considered doing a podcast?
My 5 bands of this ilk are ... Megadeth, Stone Temple Pilots, Queensryche, Slipknot and the Rolling Stones.
I still hate Metalcore Bands. Except for Deathcore, that’s amazing.
Raphael Herter here check the following, (these are some old school ones soo you might like them more):
Bleeding Through;
Unearth;
August Burns Red;
Phinehas;
Every Time I Die;
Killswitch Engage (you probably already know this one);
Eighteen Visions;
Metal is like an Apple, it's all good.... except for the Core
Andy Fox although an apple can't survive without the core ;)
One notable band for me was Dragonforce where, in high school, I was under the impression that they were pretentious and there was no way they could play their stuff live. I was so wrong, and my love was truly kindled with The Power Within.
I used to hate cradle of filth (i love the early material), but i have been slowly getting into their newer albums.
For me: Opeth
Ghost
Riverside
Anathema
Judas Priest
Yeah the same happened to me with Riverside
Riverside are fuckin great. I instantly loved them myself.
Good video CKN.
I used to dislike or even hate Rush but now I love them.
TRIVIUM
Now Shogun is one of my favorite albums of all time.
Once upon a time I thought Meshuggah was extremely overrated. Then I intently listened to Nothing and DEI and slowly fell in love with their entire catalogue.
5. Judas Priest
4. Iron Maiden
3. Avatar
2. Tool
1. Meshuggah
Used to HATE all those bands because I had only heard their "popular" songs. Once I delved into their discography I came to love all of them. Now they are all in my all-time top-10 favorite lists.
Some artists that I hated but ended up loving
(I listen to multiple genres, there are barely any metal bands on this list)
Panic! at the disco (made the mistake of listening to pray for the wicked first and didn’t like them for about a year until I listened to a fever you can’t sweat out,now they are one of my favorite bands)
My chemical romance/fall out boy(I used to shit on emos because I have a friend that did the same till I met some girls who turned me on to panic, fall out boy and mcr and I ended up loving them)
Sleeping with sirens(turned off by them immediately because of kellin Quinn’s vocals but ended up coming back to them a few months later and ended up enjoying their first two albums quite a bit)
Asking Alexandria/bmth/suicide silence (used to hate them because I was an elitist for the first few months of listening to metal, now I love all three bands a lot)
Ghost (used to hate them because my friend hyped the hell out of them ended up liking their debut quite a bit)
Architects (used to not like them because I wasn’t used to the type of vocals Sam does they are now one of my favorite metalcore bands).
Billie Eilish and Ariana grande (turned off by them immediately because they are pop musicians and liking pop is “not manly” but then I listened to thank u next and when we all fall asleep where do we go and ended up loving both albums quite a bit).
Their are probably more I can’t think of right now.
I used to hate Pierce the Veil but, I gave em a listen last year and I became a fan.
Josh Houston sa,e for me
Soundgarden poster made me tear up x
I just have four words to say
As I Lay Dying.
How is this in HD and yet the video quality is so bad..
For me it's Rush. I don't love them but I don't dislike them anymore.
I didn't like the vocals of architects at first, saw them live twice (sort of, at a festival so I happened to see some of it while walking around) and didn't care for it. Then a few months later I clicked on a song on yt and was like "well, fuck, this is good"
Judas priest took some time to grow on me but as soon as i heard painkiller i was hooked.
The Beatles
led Zeppelin
U2 - 80s stuff
were probably the first 3 i can think of over the years
My number one would definitely be overkill.
This guy is like a real human bobble head when he talks. My bands I hated at first but grew to like are slipknot, Korn, Lincoln park, and 5fdp.
For me was Disgorge, I didn’t hate it back then but I still can’t really get into it now, but I like disgorge worship bands such as Disentomb, what it is with Disgorge are that there are WAAAAAY too many tempo changes, just far too much.
Shining
Norwegian or Swedish?
Megadeth, I didn't hate them, I just didn't really like their music, and i kept trying to get into them and surely but slowly I started to like em, now they are my favorite Thrash band and 2nd favorite Metal band (Slipknot being #1) Same thing with Anthrax, they are in my top 5
I first heard avenged sevenfolds beast and the harlot and couldn't get over the vocals and thought they sucked. then I heard WTF and thought they were awesome even though they sounded way different.then I eventually grew to like shadows nasally vocals and Coe is one of my favorite albums OAT mainly because of the guitar work and nostalgia.
my OCD is going crazy right now......that left sleeve!!!!!
funny enough, my first experiences with both Black Sabbath and Yes were not very impressive...... now, they would both easily make my top 5 greatest bands of all time......
I used to hate BMTH and then I gave them a try and I respect them now
Ghost for me. Secular Haze is the worst beginner song for Ghost.
I hate Strapping Young Lad and Meshuggah at first. Now I totally dig both.
