At 21:30 when you said that it is one of the funnest places you visited, I was thinking that this is one of the best videos I've seen of yours. The Ghanaians seem like warm and welcoming people. I've met a few through surfing that compete in the ISA World Surfing Games, and they have always seemed like genuine people. They fit in well with Latin Americans at the surf competitions. This video actually made me want to travel to Africa, specifically Ghana, when I'd otherwise be apprehensive of traveling to African countries. Thanks for all the great work you do brining people together. It may sound corny but I get emotional watching your videos. I hope someday all of these people can live prosperous lives in their country and not be forced to migrate because of corrupt political leaders and whatever factors cause them hardship. Hands down the best travel vlogger, but I consider you a top-notch journalist. New Zealand should be knocking down your door to be an ambassador.

Ghana is such a nice country, especially it's people. I never regret first time spending winter there, can't wait to get back, and advice everyone to have a proper trip. I have a couple friends from Teshie, told me the exact same thing regarding day/night safety. Generally true, but they made it clear that Teshie is no joke at night, which is why they often couldn't get a ride there when it was round midnight.

This channel and those like Kurt Caz show me and help me understand that PEOPLE are amazing. All people from all over are nice, welcoming, and loving to others. The bad people take the spotlight. But being a random stranger in another continent that shares no similarities in life with the other person means nothing.
You still get hospitality. And everyone is willing to share their things with you even if they only have very little.

When I lived/visited Ghana, I remember seeing Teshie. I lived in Ashaiman for six months. Even though the living conditions weren't ideal, I remember how many people would still have massive TVs, stereo systems, laptops, and iPhones in these compound housing. Such a surreal experience for some people living in these conditions, but they still had all the most recent up-to-date gadgets. Very different from what people would've pieced from countries like Australia. In many ways, Id compares Ghana to how Americans think everyone in Australia has a pet kangaroo. There are many things about the country outside the assumptions of Africa having just poverty. Great video Nick

This is my first time watching your video and I must confess I’m very intrigued. I just recently started vlogging and I’m doing the exact same thing but going farther into town. I’m Ghanaian and I was born and raised in the same slums you shot this documentary(Teshie). My first school is even really really close to where the fisher folk shack is. I’m lucky to have been part of the 1% that are able to excel and make it outta the slums. The secret? Education (School). It’s the only deciding factor. I mean there are other factors like being very good at sports or maybe a talent in music. But that’s super rare. Anyway, great piece of work. From a Film Maker’s perspective, this was very well executed and I need to commend how well planned this production was executed. Im pretty positive you had to grease a few palms to make these happen but the end result was absolutely worth it. I’m motivated. Next time you visit Ghana. I’d love to host and collaborate. Cheers Mate

Great video once again, Nick! It’s eye-opening to see the stark contrast between the lives of these wonderful people and that of government officials. This theme of corruption is common across all of Africa as those who have the ability to develop their homelands into very successful nations decide to not do so because of self-interest. I believe that one day, Ghana and Nigeria, especially, will be the pride of Africa once more.

I don't think it is only government officials, there is a lot commerce as well. Tourism is also a major thing in areas and owning a property in the right place changes everything. I also think things are going to get better but they (most African countries) need to watch out for the debt traps from other countries including the US, UK, China and Russia. It is my fear that these African governments may take the short term gains and lose all the resources they have.

The guy who said he watch's Nick's videos was a nice touch. Imagine you watch someone who you enjoy on RUclips and then all of a sudden you see that person in your country and most shockingly, in your neighborhood and you get the opportunity to talk about where you're from.
I feel for the people of Ghana whose life has been made by events in the world; namely the war in Ukraine. Life is hard, yes, but what we see in these videos is not people just sitting around waiting for a handout, but people out there using their hands and any energy they can muster to make it to the next day. They do it to better themselves, their community, their country and to have a next meal either for themselves or their family. For those of us in the first world countries, like the US, we take so much for granted. I'd love to travel to Ghana like Nick did and just talk with people and learn about their way of life, as difficult as it is, there is a beauty in these peoples determination to be better. Hey Nick! I stumbled upon this video today and wanted to give your content a fair chance, so I went through some more. I noticed you beautifully showcased various places in the Western world, but the tone changed when it came to Africa, particularly Ghana, Nigeria and most African countries. I'm curious about the perspective shift and would love to understand why you chose not to highlight the wonderful places in Ghana. Looking forward to your insights!

Hard to appreciate beautiful scenery when so many people are suffering

@@HaleyStark. How do you think people's suffering affects the appreciation of beautiful scenery? Also, people in the Western world are dealing with their own challenges, like Racial Discrimination, Gender Discrimination, Socioeconomic Discrimination, Mental Health Stigma, Indigenous Discrimination, etc. Despite these issues, there's still an appreciation for the beautiful scenery there. So, it's important not to assume that people in the Western world aren't facing their own hardships.

@@kwasifrimpong5036 those issues are microscopic compared to people having to live in a cleaned out outhouse, and not being able to feed their kids.

    Hi Nick,
It's nice to see you bringing to light the struggles in Ghanaian slums...But I'd like you to have a more balanced video that also portrays the beautiful part of the country. Yes, there are obvious challenges...but there are beautiful places in Ghana too. This is important because the notion that Africa is full of hardship is only reinforced in the minds of those who have never been here...
    My humble submission

Not a lot of Ghanaians know these places, which means the slums were deliberately highlighted 😂

his whole channel is all based more on the bad parts or people who are suffering, BUT still showing their human spirit. He NEEDs to show these parts so people won't be ignorant about their own universal problems and issues, but not forget the truly innocent in other parts of the world.
I want to live, because I was born into this World.

I think the lady who showed you her house was saying that she feels safe with her neighbor around. Like he protects her a little or at least makes her feel safe.

ALL western countries developed from the same situations!
Only they can change it. It makes no sense to pump more billions into this continent.
