As soon as I saw this car in the background of a previous video I knew it was finally in the right hands, a lot of people who hyped this car up so much then because they (like myself) don’t know how to set up a speed run car, and or have unsuitable places to do a speed run. So glad you’re staying in the game, now, can you get a new world record with the Rlaarlo AK917? If anyone can, you’re the man for the job! Looking forward to seeing more of you and the Rlaarlo (as well as the 1/7’s). Thanks for sharing your experience and thoughts with us.
Agreed on the "finally in the right hands" comment from someone else. Raz is, definitely, the one to get the AK-917 to the speeds it's capable of. Some of the 'bashers' who received pre-production units are doing "good" with them...but, as we all know, Raz will do 'great' with it. For my first AK-917, I'm keeping the Rlaarlo ESC & motor, and "limiting" it to 3S. But, when it's time to build the second one, that's the one that'll be running 4S & Castle. Can't wait to see what Rlaarlo comes up with when they get around to releasing a 1/7, to 'compete' against the Limitless & VTE2.
Just got the roller on sale and pretty excited to get all the electronics swapped over. Really happy it came with lights installed too. I thought that was an add on.
two things to learn from KT: 1) tires don't last. He runs them TOO many times and they fly apart 2) KT's motto is: more batteries, more motors, more weight "why can't I go faster"? Raz is doing it right: 1 or 2 motors, 1 or 2 batteries then all in the gearing and set up. Also aerodynamics. The thing about more batteries/motors: it all adds weight and that extra power, extra batteries don't give you that much more speed. One thing he IS getting right: length. Top AA fuel dragsters, downhill Super G skiers, land speed record holders, ALL have hyper long vehicles because length = speed.
Everyone has their own styles and ways of getting things done. Still learning from both of them. Not every rc-er is the same. If they were, everything would be the same. Kinda boring.
Raz, please go more in depth with the Radiolink RX8! This transmitter seems super promising (especially since the screen can run FPV) but a lot of the reviews seem to only cover surface level details (case in point your the first to mention the custom sounds) really wanna hear your thoughts on the range, upgradablity, and features!
Just added my own voice to several things on MT-12 running Edge TX. It says something like your radio says and much much - - - - things. Thanks for the top shelf video.
Nice runs Raz! Been anxious to see this vid. Im impressed with the AK917 design and how it drives. Ive got the same ESC but lower Kv motor in mine for now. Good luck in the speed challenge
I just wrecked my Rlaarlo this afternoon 😡. I had mamba X8S castle 1717 and graphene 8s battery. It hit a lane reflector at 132mph and went 20 feet in the air and landed in the most plush grass I've ever seen which saved it from total destruction. If Rlaarlo can get me some parts before the qualifying is over I'll give you a run for your money because I could have still done a burnout at 130mph with tons of throttle left. Really stable little cars though!!
Yes 👍 it’s all about that set up and your the 1st person I’ve seen dial one of these in with some great speed run tips. It’s all about setting these cars up right and the gyro is a must, I’m a huge fan of them. Anything that helps is a must at the speeds your doing keep it up I think she may have 160-170mph in her?? If anyone can get there? Good luck snd I look forward to the next runs of this car 😎👌
Im sooo so so glad you did a kinda" sorta" review on that Radiolink controller. I was tempted to get into it cause all features...but im a futaba guy and a noble 4 guy. Its good to see someone who knows wassup, shake down a new product. thanks bro bro.
Amazing 153mph for 1st run, I plan to buy both a AK917 mine will be a carbon chassis version either RTR or roller and i will also get the RC8X someday for all my RC's.
Awesome set up Raz! 118, 146, 156mph. And then you'll start modifying it! 😆 I'll be ecstatic to hit/break 100mph with mine. I love street bashing mine @ 50mph. I still haven't geared up either
Don't bother. Rlaarlo are grifters. Once you get the car (if you are lucky to get it without the company coming back to you asking for more money for shipping AFTER your purchase - NOT A JOKE!!!!!), you will note that it will not steer straight, then you will note that it will not keep from bottoming out, then you will note the stabilizers DO NOT WORK (how can a company install a product that they did not bother testing at least once...??????), the wheels and tires do not handle rated speeds (and they are worthless after a single crash due to their design), the carbon fibre doesn't actually seem to be carbon fibre, the shocks are way too soft, and not properly set up out of the box, etc., etc., etc... I'll stick to brand names in the future. You should too.
Yeah, thanks Raz for making this epic and showing potential in RC. I appreciate your humor, most importantly your humility. Pretty shure your the man with the method to make shit go fast AF!
Great video and really curious to see how the radio link turns out with update, I was thinking of getting one after using the rc6gs v2 radio link for so long! Great pass’s buddy ! Thanks Raz! Incredible first time out numbers! Amazing every time!
Best Rlllarrrrlohhh video I’ve seen. It was exciting and then the videos came out and I lost confidence in the platform. Great to see you (of course) got it to perform.
One of the things I found in my AK 917 is that the steering has played and to take time to adjust correctly. In my case, I try to make the play evenly for both sides. Side note: It will be interesting to see if that little monster reaches the same speed expensive build you have Raz
Very nice!! Also should point out being a 1/10th scale the size and weight of this car makes it more sketchy to control, compared to your other speed run rigs. Would be amazing to get it past 180mph
The Porsche AK 917 was designed & built by the company itself and became the most winning LeMans race car (ever 1/10 scale). The RC will run much, much faster
Haha. it took me numerous transmission failures and a year to finally get my 2wd slash over 100mph, and you go out and bust 140mph on the first 4s run with this little thing. Lol. This setup is similar to mine, but I'm running a castle 2200kv sensored motor with the MMX8S esc and an EMP cap pack. switched my gearing to 34P/34S 2 days ago and looking for a nice long smooth area to run it and see what she'll do on 6s. Lmfao. I do need to change out my battery connectors since I'm still using the castle 6.5mm plugs. They've worked so far but just old now. Btw Raz. For now, I'm using the older Radiolink RC6GS V2 radio (untll I get a better radio), and I had the same issues with my car when I first got everything set up. there were 2 receivers that came with the radio, and one of them acted up like it was possessed. changed out the receiver and used the dual antenna one, and everything's been working great so far. Tbh, I never even looked to see if there's any firmware updates on my radio. Lol
I had a similar radio issue a few weeks ago. it turned out the antenna wire in the receiver was fraying and shorting out on one of the electrical components on the circuit board. I just replaced the antenna wire and re-soldered it and it was fine.
That wasn't a product review. A review would have mentioned the company behind this car isn't to be trusted with your dollars. These guys are Grifters (capital "G"...). The car is a mess. The parts are hit and miss (as in you pay for parts and receiving a full order is hit and miss...), the customer support is utterly non-existent, and the contest are a proven scam (nobody has ever been paid out - they have done this before). Raz should focus on companies that aren't ripping off consumers - or do the right thing and put pressure on them to take care of their customers. I am out $100's of dollars with a car that wasn't as advertised, and doesn't have the support behind it to bring it up to spec. If you buy this car, you will find out.....
Hey Raz How do you over charge and heat your lipos? Does it make a difference? Thanks for sharing all you do. I've learned a lot watching your videos and can't wait to get back to the airport.
Very nice car...I broke many dog bones over the years because of the inherent wobble they all have...I see this is still the case and, think this happens during the tempering stage...I used to buy them by the dozens and hand select a pair that was relatively straight...is there any manufacturer that makes driveshaft dogbones that run true?
Nice runs Raz. Same motor/ESC i got for my 917. Unfortunately, Rlaarlo messed up my order and are ignoring my emails, so I've not run it once yet. Nice to know it's a good setup.
Rlaarlo is ignoring me too. It is really shitty that none of these RUclips influencers is addressing the problems with this company. They are all too happy to get free stuff to bump up their views. I have yet to see one of these reviewers to get real about the shit this company is pulling. They didn't even honor the conditions of their last competition with consumers - yet they are now running a second competition on a new vehicle with a cash prize after cheating all their previous customers on their previous competitions. I'd respect Raz alot more if he didn't accept this sort of behaviour from the companies he chooses to promote. This company is easily the worst in this respect this year. Tons and tons of people complaining about lack of support, lack of shipped parts and business practices that defy logic. Fly-by-night is all I can think of. Don't waste your money folks.
Nice runs! But I'm sorry to tell you the Radiolink upgrade can only go to 3ms with the new v2.1 receivers! And, I tried it and it's as laggy as bevor! I did slomos with with the RC8X, T10px and T4x! You can't only feel it on the track, the slomos show the truth!
I enjoy learning from your channel. May I ask a suspension question ? Do you run toe-in rear & toe-out front ? Someone told me no toe front or rear for speed runs ??

Ive been wanting to swap platforms. Either TT02 or this. Currently on traxxas 1/16, castle sw3 on 3s, 34-43 gearing hits 65mph with same gps. Probably going to get one of these
Thanks Raz Beening watching you since you where in the US. Decided to get a Rlarrlo and very happy with it. Also just got a foam tyre cutter and ALL tyres where out of trure. Just one question is it a good idea to cut the rears to a slightly small diameter or do you cut all four to the same size. Let us know if you have any of your products for a Rlarrlo. Thank again
As soon as I saw this car in the background of a previous video I knew it was finally in the right hands, a lot of people who hyped this car up so much then because they (like myself) don’t know how to set up a speed run car, and or have unsuitable places to do a speed run. Agreed, I am fairly new to this and mostly crash mine but I have managed 103 mph out of it. Maybe one day I’ll figure it all out… lol
I use the older rc7gs remote and love it. No delay. So many options to tune as well
the fact the mmx8s looks like a normal sized esc in this car and not the beast of a size it is, is pretty incredible
Watching companies just lift designs from creators real time, is a whole new level of transparency. Keep innovating Raz. Also with you. 🦇🦇

I've been looking forward to this video. Time to make some Tea, chill, and watch the master work his magic.
Just got the roller on sale and pretty excited to get all the electronics swapped over. Really happy it came with lights installed too. I thought that was an add on.
I have learned quite a bit from watching you and Kevin's videos. Good stuff. Faster, faster until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death.

Awesome video. Would have like to see a full build. Would have helped many people. But still some impressive results for 3 runs. Nice1
you should make shafts for this car, and the new model coming out!
Great video yet again Raz! Very concise and straight to the point, no faf! 🤘🏼
AKD 197 :D but man you nailed it 153MPH is awesome
Raz, please go more in depth with the Radiolink RX8!

Agreed!! I have one and want to know more about real world application and settings from an experienced end user
Another big hitter in the competition gonna make it harder to hold my #1 spot lol looking forward to seeing what you can do with it
Thanks Raz for all you do for the RC community! 👊
Yeah he's one of the best out there, I love his way to share
Indeed Indeed. Perfectionism and Attention to detail at impeccable maximum overdrive level. :) I support your comments.

I was expecting a borat style very nice for the radio startup lol! Looks like less wheel wobble than arrma on the bench at least.
Impressive first day out. Seems like the AK917 can handle the speed really well for a smaller platform.

are you going to do a set up guide on this car for first time speed runners? i would be happy with 120mph and the car come back in one peice.

Raz for King of the World!
Geez Porsche sure got the aero right on that body design. What would the speed be if you scaled it up to full size?
Just curious if you have considered putting FPV on the cars so you can actually see where your car is on the track?
