love astoria - I used to live there we were there when they filmed goonies and free willie - and of course, kindergarten cop - they used my daughters classroom for the movie! great video, thanks!
Fun fact, the coast guard uses the mouth of the Columbia for rough water training. We live off SR 6 in Washington state and go to Astoria, Warrenton, and Seaside often. We only moved to the area about 5 years ago, but it has been a favorite vacation area for my family for decades. I remember going to see the Peter Iredale in 1978 or 1979. When we went back just a couple of months ago, I was shocked by the amount of the ship that is gone from that 70s trip. Give the ocean a few more decades and it will all but disappear. Interesting video, this is one of our favorite places, but we've found many since moving here.
It's August the 23rd, 2024 and as a 39 year old single male, I've actually considered moving here for retirement. It's got the river walk for daily walking/exercising, a decent amount of restaurants along with stuff to see and do..
The brewery scene that started nation wide in the last couple of decades started in Oregon (as did the food cart explosion, gourmet donut explosion etc etc).
Happy Birthday Emily!! Looks like you had a wet! But amazing birthday with your funny Hubby! I love your channel. I can’t believe you guys don’t have 100,000! You guys are great!! Keep up the great videos!! Have a great one! ❤️❤️
Another great video, and another destination on my list (although I'll probably still take the truck camper!). I actually took my girls there when they were much younger and we threw the little balsawood gliders off of the Astoria Tower. Tried to watch where they landed and actually managed to go and find one of them several hundred yards away when we got down (knew it was ours since we had all signed them). Lots of Lewis & Clark history in this area, and that Ft. Stevens Shipwreck, oh the stories it could tell... Thanks for taking us along! [And Belated Happy BD Emily! 🎂🥳🎉]
We camp in our fifth wheel there every year. Love Ft Clatsop, Fort Stevens and short drive to Seaside. Rusty Cup coffee is great and cool little shops in town! The breweries are fun. Missing our fave restaurant that closed years ago….Baked Alaska. Very walkable for us and our 2 Shih Tzus. Not a bad drive back home to Vancouver!
That ship is a car carrier. They visit the port in Aberdeen all the time. That's a drive wife and I take regularly just for giggles. Found you guys by accident, got yourselves a new local follower.
Great video! The "OOOO" on the steering wheel threw me for a loop at first. HA. A good thing about staying in a hotel, if you keep finding more breweries within walking distance, you can just stumble back to your room. :) And you know me, I love me some ocean views. Thanks for sharing another adventure. Best regards! - Matt
Happy B-Day Emily. Richelle and I are headed out for a day trip to Westport/Grayland for a day trip to play on the beach. We have a picture at that ship wreck that I will share on Instagram. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us.
Another great vid - watching makes me dig out the Goonies disc and watch it for about the 30th time. Also, belated Happy Birthday, Emily. Oh and P.S. I think that ship was a car-carrier.
Always enjoy your travel video’s! I’ve been to Astoria lots of times however it was more fun watching your time there. Still waiting for a group meet up😁
You definitely saw the sights on that one. That is a fantastic part of Oregon. Somewhere in an old family album is a picture of me by that ship in the 80s. I should dig out some time to see how much it’s changed. Goonies should be required for every one to watch.
164 steps? Reminds me of my last 13 and a half trips to rehab. 🥴 I blame all of Astoria's brewpubs and whiskey joints. Slick video, thanks for sharing!
I’m also looking for some “twinkle” lights for my Bambi and Tundra set up. I see that you are in the market for another set and I’m curious as to what you choose. Would you mind sharing the information when you make a decision. We admire your camping setup!
Another great video! That mofo bridge at Astoria isn’t my favorite drive. I have vertigo and will drive to Longview to avoid it! Last time over it was one lane on the main span… driver side at the far left. 😂
I just got the tarp yall recommend, thanks for the link! Do you find the other telescoping poles to better than the standard or do you use them in addition to the provided ones? Thanks for the great content, hope to do much of the same eventually.
I don't always comment but I do always watch. Love your videos and this one was awesome as we love the Goonies!! We live in Shelton and just got a Tacoma and hope to start exploring more. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos!!!

Thanks for sharing!! It is crazy how much the sea swallows things whole 🤯
The kindergarten cop with Arnold Schwarzenegger was also filmed there😎
I grew up in this area. Was a fantastic place to grow up and go to high school. Ilwaco wa, class of 11
Great video! Thanks from Astoria! This is an awesome community that in addition to breweries includes vibrant art, music and theater venues.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!! You have one amazing town there!!

I'm 40 and I'm considering the same
U guys should go there. It’s full of crime and drugs . Not really somewhere anyone should want to live
Not a bad plan 👍🏻
Haha same! See you other singles out there.
The brewery scene that started nation wide in the last couple of decades started in Oregon (as did the food cart explosion, gourmet donut explosion etc etc).
💯 With Washington hops!

Nice, I’m from CA and was just up there. December and yep, visited the shipwreck. Prob because before, we visits a few breweries.

Happy birthday Emily! How did that Audi tow the teardrop?? 😂. Great trip. I’m jealous!
Thank you!! 😊 🤣🤣🤣 Matt wants to add a hitch and do a coast to coast 😅 Thanks so much for the support!!
Hitch to the Audi? Nooooo,…. You’ll have to come to NH if you do end up doing a coast to coast.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 👍🏻
Happy Birthday Emily🎉 0:42
Thank you Susan!

Thanks, Matt! A little too convenient walking 1 block to 3 breweries and a distillery 😅 OH and a whiskey bar lol

164 steps? Reminds me of my last 13 and a half trips to rehab. 🥴 I blame all of Astoria's brewpubs and whiskey joints. Slick video, thanks for sharing!
😅 Thanks!
The big ship you wondered about is a car carrier
Ahhh that makes sense lol
I’m also looking for some “twinkle” lights for my Bambi and Tundra set up. I see that you are in the market for another set and I’m curious as to what you choose. Would you mind sharing the information when you make a decision. We admire your camping setup!
These are the new ones 👍🏻 amzn.to/4alXWJL
So far so good!
We like that they come in a 2 pack

Love the video!
Thanks friends!! Glad you enjoyed it ☺️
Astoria is a nice beach.
💯
I saw you on I-405 near Bellevue, so I followed you. Maybe it would be good to have a QR code on the trailer to make it easier to follow.
Happy belted Birthday.
Thanks!!
I just got the tarp yall recommend, thanks for the link!
Do you find the other telescoping poles to better than the standard or do you use them in addition to the provided ones?
Thanks for the great content, hope to do much of the same eventually.
Our pleasure!! We use the telescoping poles in addition to but they would be great subs for the heavy duty poles as well 👌🏻
I really want to know if you are flying the drone while driving, or do you stop to put it up?
Some of this footage is licensed, however we do stop to fly 👍🏻
👍😎🎥HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Thank you!!! 🥳
You never pronounced Astoria correctly... And never watched the Goonies closely enough, because they pronounced it correctly in the movie. Wow!!!!
We pronounced it perfectly! "Astoria" 👍🏻 Sounds like a great time 🍻 Thanks for watching! Goonies never say die 🏴☠️
so much fun
💯💯💯
I don't always comment but I do always watch. Love your videos and this one was awesome as we love the Goonies!! We live in Shelton and just got a Tacoma and hope to start exploring more. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos!!!
