I take the fish finders out of my boat when on the road. On longer trips, I also remove my trolling motor from the bracket and lay it on the boat floor. The constant bouncing is rough on these items, and I can't afford to replace them. It also helps with theft, too. Fish finders are kept in the house when I'm not on the water.
Great job thanks for the info. There is something that I use for those contaminated connections called DeoxIT just spray on both sides of the connections.
@@impala4dr there you go lol now we're talking back to the days of my '53 viking 15hp or '62 evinrude 5.5hp... don't have a boat to match the year on those but wouldn't trade the simplicity of those older motors any day
Great video, very informative! I had a Garmin Graph by the console like you have next to the throttle. Got caught in a downpour trailering back, spray from road ruined it. Now I take them off when trailering 😅
Once you've cleaned out your electrical connectors with the vinegar etc put some of that dilectric grease on the male end of the connector and plug the female end in. Also, that sandpaper can bring spark plaugs back to live if they're really nasty by sanding clean the terminals... it's not a permanant fix but it'll get you home.
LOL, "old fishing boat...7 years old!" I drive a 14 foot 1969 Proline aluminum V-hull with a 1969 Evinrude 25hp and I'm 16 years older than either of them!
Pitot tube speedometers are crap. Just use your phone if you need to know how fast you are going. Why anyone needs a speedo on a boat, I have no idea. Everything I own, except my truck, is old. The truck was a mistake.
I would love to see you cover or enclose those lures for Lillie's sake. Dogs are like kids. It's only a matter of time before they do something you didn't expect and depending on where those hooks penetrated it could be quite painful. Especially if it's in a tongue. They have a mind like a young autistic child and don't understand how much some things could hurt or that they even could get hurt. Also, if you hit a floating log or a boat hits you that could be a problem. Probably isn't good enough for my dog so I'm always thinking of these things 🙂
I only place those lures out there when I'm by myself or someone else is with me and Lily stays home. I will never even leave a lure out anywhere when Lily is with me. So no worries.
@@oakironoutdoors2436 That's great to hear. I have run into too many people that say "Well she will learn then won't she!". To which I respond in a way they never like. lol

Great tips. I always carried jumper cables in mine too
My battery died on lake Okechobee, a nice guy stopped by with jumper cables. Life saver !
@@stephanieknapp8710 very nice! That’s good news

Great ideas! Looking at your pitot tube, it looks like it should be replaced. Just my opinion. Love how you came up with these!
Thank you for the tips very helpful to a new / old boat owner
Thank you for watching brother.

Lol!!! Personally, I love those older boats!!!
Same, where are the videos for the 50y+ boats?😂

Oh wow! Yeah I never heard of that happening. Maybe put a waterproof bag over them???
@@oakironoutdoors2436 yeah I just pop them off now. Garmin replaced it for free
@@teamextremefishing nice!
Thanks man, these are great tips!
I have a 99 tracker pro V guide…what’s your thought on a dual crank battery
If it's for the trolling motor, I'm not a fan.
Where did you get the battery tester?
That was ordered off of Amazon.
Great hacks! I'll need to get a boat now. Lol
Thanks Tom! Yup, boats are fun but can be a little $.

I always use transmission fluid on all my connections now, I find it works way better than anything else to prevent corrosion. 👍
How about preset spare spark plugs & ratchet set
Yes sir! Thanks for sharing that. 👍

Got a good laugh when I saw the little ball bungees... I use those all over the boat, and everywhere else for that matter
LOL!!! Yeah, they come in handy for a lot of things!
2004 is old??? 😂Try a 16’ 1980 Monarch with a Mariner…Runs like a top!
