They stole my heart in the 80's and was always surprised at the lack of airplay this song had. My favorite song of all time! Sorry Mick, Keith, John and Paul, Roger and Pete. As much as I love you, this song is my #1!

I was at this show. My first ever rock concert and saw my favorite band. What a night. I'm in Toledo Ohio. We were worried about the weather that night at the mistake by the lake but that night it was gorgeous
...still gives me chills after all these years and so many miles in my rear view mirror...."the grief has no end and that's how we know love has no end." Bono as he's giving us the story behind this powerful gem of music and song. Words fail me....that's where the music's power shines. It conveys with out the spoken word what is deep in the heart and soul, the spirit eternal....the unforgettable fire, it burns and yearns, fueled by love, a love without end my friends..... ..."be kind for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle" ~ Plato See you on the other side.....
I'm so sorry about that, Shawna. As Bono says, there is no end to grief, but there's also no end to love. Your son will always be alive in the memories of those whose lives he touched.
The Joshua Tree Album was IMHO U2's finest hour , never to be reached again and One tree hill is just the pinicle of their genius in both song writing and musical talent
Where I grew up. My Dad still lives in the house we grew up in, in One Tree Hill suburb from 1981. These days I'm 5 minutes down the road in Royal Oak. One Tree Hill has always been special to me and I grew up listening to U2. This song gives me goosebumps 💗🌳💗
One of the Best Rock Bands ever!! I have seen them perform 211 times in the U.S and other countries. Seen them 16 times at the Sphere so far! I have seen them 13 times in Cleveland, remember Richfield Coliseum?
Fabulous and gorgeous song. That friend who Bono was talking about at the start that he was killed on a motorbike was the fella who was running around after him in Live Aid picking the 🎤 microphone up
One Tree Hill , I live in Auckland, New Zealand , I love One Tree Hill in Cornwall Park !! Love this song !! U2 always go to Wanganui when they come to New Zealand to pay respect to the late Greg Carroll , NZ loves U2 !!
Tricorn Tom yep I think exactly the same remembering listening to this when I was 17 in 1988 on my Walkman getting 2 buses to work in the first year of my apprenticeship, the drumming was class and listening in headphones made you even more aware
Have to give U2 credit, played songs that cared. Also when Big Country came back to Dublin years after Stuart Adamson left this world, U2 left a lovely gift at the dressing room for Big Country. This was at the olympia , mike peters was the lead man
#U2TheJoshuaTree2017 in Cleveland was the best concert ever. "One Tree Hill", "Bullet the Blue Sky were my favs, but every song accompanied by different visuals was perfection. "Running to Stand Still, " - I couldn't handle it
I don't believe In painted roses Or bleeding hearts While bullets Rape the night Of the merciful, ah I'll see you again When the stars Fall from the sky And the moon Has turned red Over One Tree Hill Beautiful- So stoked I saw them in 87 on their Joshua Tree tour.
This is probably the most intence playing off drums, from U.2 larry mullen jur. Fantastic playing, a petty about the camera person. This was par excellent. ☘☘
When Bono sings "Jara sang, his song a weapon In the hands of love You know his blood still cries From the ground" is he referring to Victor Jara the chilean singer killed by the military in Chile? I just realized this now, this songs reminds us of some many lives lost because of politics and wars, mistakes
My comment below is convoluted in “Auto-Coirrect.” The point is, if your mom dies you cannot be abusive to other people to take out your pain and fear on them. Especially if your mom died five years ago.
i make a tripod with both hands on the cam and elbows against my body, plus i clean it up just a bit in post production, my arms are very tired after a show!
"There is no end to grief...This is how we know there is no end to love"....

Having been a fan of U2 since the 80's, let me say this is my favorite song of all time by any artist, period
They stole my heart in the 80's and was always surprised at the lack of airplay this song had. My favorite song of all time! Sorry Mick, Keith, John and Paul, Roger and Pete. As much as I love you, this song is my #1!
Have to agree .
Mine too. And unfortunately, one of the worst renditions. Ever.
its good
Truth!
IMHO this is the best song from the Joshua Tree.
Larry hasn't aged a day since the 80s. Unbelievable! 🤯 Great track from an album for the ages!
Afuckinmen. Im 48 and U2 has always been my favorite band. Larry is my favorite and the one who gave the rest of these lads ther first job. Tries everyday to keep them in it. Rosemont Ave

My favourite songs from the Joshua Tree are Red hill mining town,One tree hill and In God's country 👍💚🎸🎸
My favorite three also.

I'm so sorry about that, Shawna. As Bono says, there is no end to grief, but there's also no end to love. Your son will always be alive in the memories of those whose lives he touched.
I hope you are doing as best you can..
This song keeps his memory alive. Big hug from Tarragona, Spain.

there are songs that wake your soul and this is an example
Fabulous and gorgeous song. That friend who Bono was talking about at the start that he was killed on a motorbike was the fella who was running around after him in Live Aid picking the 🎤 microphone up
Correct Ed, back in the days prior to radio mikes, Greg Carroll is clearly visible running around especially during their singing of 'Bad'.
Definitely on my top 5 songs of U2. An excellent deep track that doesn't get played enough on the radio.
What is “radio”? 😂
One Tree Hill , I live in Auckland, New Zealand , I love One Tree Hill in Cornwall Park !! Love this song !! U2 always go to Wanganui when they come to New Zealand to pay respect to the late Greg Carroll , NZ loves U2 !!
This song must be a New Zeland national anthem... Greets from Croatia !
sulzer73 HAKA ANGST...pure angst 😰
Larry's best drum work on this song, very intricate offbeats and syncopation... Wish he would do that with more songs.... Mix the beat up a bit...
Tricorn Tom yep I think exactly the same remembering listening to this when I was 17 in 1988 on my Walkman getting 2 buses to work in the first year of my apprenticeship, the drumming was class and listening in headphones made you even more aware
On Rick Beato's channel he breaks down "In God's Country" and highlights Larry's playing. Excellent. That rhythm section is as good as any.
my all time favorite U2 song! Good GOD I have goosebumps all over!!! WELL DONE BOYS!!
Have to give U2 credit, played songs that cared. Also when Big Country came back to Dublin years after Stuart Adamson left this world, U2 left a lovely gift at the dressing room for Big Country. This was at the olympia , mike peters was the lead man
The best song from the Joshua Tree album and still sends a chill through me all these years later.
Music of my childhood, good times good music, miss those days
I'm going to watch muzzzing boy in the Welsh final tomorrow afternoon hope he does it for us
#U2TheJoshuaTree2017 in Cleveland was the best concert ever. "One Tree Hill", "Bullet the Blue Sky were my favs, but every song accompanied by different visuals was perfection. "Running to Stand Still, " - I couldn't handle it
"Bullet the Blue Sky" and "Running to Stand Still" are the B-sides of "In God's Country" and this beautiful song ("One Tree Hill")
That gives the chills. One of the most incredible versions of that song I've heard them play.
Growing up in West Auckland, great song U2.
Yet another superb song from a magnificent album.
Holy shit! Great video, not only get to see Bono, (again), but we get to see Larry Mullen Jr in his zone ❤️👍🍀🌞
Best guitar sound out there, master Edge at work no less.
One of my all-time greats. Seen U2 play in melbourne countless times since 1984. 🧡🧡🧡
So pumped for Las Vegas!
I attended this concert ... remember it as it was yesterday ... today is Jan 27th 2024 and hope to read this some years ahead ...
Awesome shots of Bono. Liked
No end to grief, no end to 💕. My favorite song.😥

I think this and So Cruel are my two favourite u2 tunes

es increíble como toca Larry Mullen esta canción, una destreza y precisión admirable....mas, obviamente, su composición. Toda la canción es hermosa.
some great versions of this, a track I like.
This will keep us talking about how we can feel too be came the future ❤❤🎉🎉***///
I hope they come back to New Zealand. I would love to see One Tree Hill live again.
Saw it when they did the 360 tour in Auckland. Just after the pike river mine disaster and they played this song in tribute!

Album: The Joshua Tree
We turn away to face the cold, enduring chill
As the day begs the night for mercy love
The sun so bright it leaves no shadows
Only scars carved into stone
On the face of earth
The moon is up and over One Tree Hill
We see the sun go down in your eyes
You run like river, on like a sea
You run like a river runs to the sea
And in the world a heart of darkness
A fire zone
Where poets speak their heart
Then bleed for it
Jara sang, his song a weapon
In the hands of love
You know his blood still cries
From the ground
It runs like a river runs to the sea
It runs like a river to the sea
I don't believe in painted roses
Or bleeding hearts
While bullets rape the night of the merciful
I'll see you again
When the stars fall from the sky
And the moon has turned red
Over One Tree Hill
We run like a river
Run to the sea
We run like a river to the sea
And when it's raining
Raining hard
That's when the rain will
Break my heart
Raining...raining in the heart
Raining in your heart
Raining...raining to your heart
Raining, raining...raining
Raining to your heart
Raining...raining in your heart
Raining in your heart..
To the sea
Oh great ocean
Oh great sea
Run to the ocean
Run to the sea

beautiful - can't wait for JT19!! Brisbane and Melb!
I don't believe
In painted roses
Or bleeding hearts
While bullets
Rape the night
Of the merciful, ah
I'll see you again
When the stars
Fall from the sky
And the moon
Has turned red
Over One Tree Hill

Thanks for the info, this song is the soul of the joshua tree album
It is a reference to Victor Jara.
goes to all humanity.. and to all our ancestors whose land, soul, identity are erased by the evil n greedy
I love when Edge sings w/Bono. I get disgusted when he doesn't. He's spoiled me w/his beautiful voice n I want to hear it all the time.
Not a fan of U2 stances on political issues but they are the best band in the world. Saw them in Tampa on the JT tour....both times!😃

My comment below is convoluted in “Auto-Coirrect.” The point is, if your mom dies you cannot be abusive to other people to take out your pain and fear on them. Especially if your mom died five years ago.
For us old school the B side of the Joshua Tree was just as good as side A,
What do you use to keep you camera so steady? I held the camera free hand at the Chicago shows and I was shaking all over the place

Bono Speaks Truth to Power..... ✝✡☮🕉 ⛔🚫 STOP THE WARS !⚠
"I meet him, I meet other people when I get inside this song." is that what he's saying at 00:50?
Damn, Bono is really struggling to keep it together. Greg's death still tears him apart.
This is played at a lower octave than the original, still sounds great though
It’s in the same key and pitch as the original
@@VonSlovig Listen closer and it's slightly lower to make it easier for Bono to sing
@@VonSlovig Bands do this all the time because some originals are too hard on the vocals night after night.. it's sounds deceptively similar though

Love this song. The band sounds awesome. That comment about grief from Bono is simply profound. But what did that poor man do to his voice?
