You should do more of these vlogs, pretty interesting truckers get a bad rep but people have no idea what they deal with
When sliding tandems and the pins are caught move in opposite direction of your goal slightly it will release the stress on the pins and they will retract. Another thing to keep in mind is if you shut the tractor off before unloading you need to supply air to the trailer so it can fill up then once you do that set the break and the pins will retract.
Yes 🙌
40:15 Alex! That’s a new cab over! What are you talking about?!! 😂
I drove truck in Chicago quite often when I was driving, mostly to rail yards picking-up or dropping trailers.
Gotta watch super closely at bridge heights and the crazy 4-wheelers. Streets are narrow in many places and lots of places where people park at the corner and you suddenly realize you cannot make the turn you want to make. Gotta love it.
Even Chicago area rail yards are quite often extremely 'tight' as well.
Hey Alex... I hope you managed to get some good rest during your break from youtube.. stay strong brother💪🏻 and welcome back🎉
The only time I made a delivery in Chicago a young man jumped on my running board and offered to give me directions to where I needed to go, if I gave him money! I rolled my window up and kept driving! He stayed there for about 4 blocks before he jumped off! Stay safe, keep your doors locked and don’t talk to strangers! 😂
I bet the guy that jumped on your truck wasn't white.

Alex great to see you back hope you enjoyed your break and got the chance to really focus on your personal life. Love the content also understand you need to enjoy life outside you tube.
You are a inspiration to many who are considering this type of career path alongside the reality of the challenges these new drivers may face in their first few years of trucking.
Gr8 balance.
Gr8 channel Alex.
I know how you feel about Chicago. I feel the same way. Lots of tight turns in busy urban areas, cars parked in between medians when you need to make a left turn, shit like that. Started my trucking career fresh out of school driving up and through Shitcago, especially the south and west side. And was driving a 10-speed manual after having just learned. Was anxiety inducing but great practice right out of the gate in rush hour stop and go traffic. Now I am wizard on a 10-speed. One day I spent 4 hours in Friday rush hour traffic going around downtown and only drove about 10 miles in that 4 hours. That's how bad it is. I've driven in all 48 main states and used to drive through New York City quite a bit especially through the Bronx and onto Long Island. Even NYC is not as bad as Chicago.
☺️ nyc feels like chicago
Thank you for showing me some of the stuff that normal people don’t know about in trucking. Watching your videos has made me want to pursue getting my CDL A and start driving.
Well you need to find a professional drivers. Not like this steering wheel holder.
You can learn much much more about the industry from the drivers that Christopher Fiffie interviews in his rolling cb interviews.
Hey bro I’m glad to see you back I hope everything is going well since you’re last video because the ended sounded like you were defeated so I’m sure you needed this brake. But I’m from Chicago and I know all the streets you are going through 🥴
Great video! I got my CDL in 2019 and have been driving Chicago ever since. It’s nerve racking at first but you get use to it quick. The traffic is the worst part and inconsiderate drivers.
When need to swing wide from the right lane into the left lane but traffic keeps coming, do u blow your horn to get traffic to stop for u so that u can swing out (like this guy did)? Or do u wait for the space to clear and then swing out? Just wondering......
Good to see you back! Hope you had a good much needed vacation!
So happy to see you back..hope u had a great break and a great Thanksgiving. Safe driving, and looking forward to seeing alot more videos.
It’s great to see you’re back. Awesome video and good you got some much needed rest. Keep the videos coming
So glad to see you back Alex. Love your videos!
Just a helpful tip in backing- before backing in building, get out and look. Do not back into building without verifying u are straight. Use a flashlight 🔦 on path, if building is dark.
New trucker here, have driven in a few cities now and I can attest that this driving isn’t fun lol, but it is challenging and rewarding. Cheers
That nice
Hello greeting👋
Not!!🤬😠😤
@@pokitty100 okay
@@pokitty100where are you from?
I know Alex don't read comments but hopefully i can help someone else about air slides. When u set traler brakes at the dock, & fork lift going in n out, it dumps ALL THE AIR out of the trailer, so when u pull out of the dock, u need to wait couple of minutes for trailer to air back up, then slide will work just fine.
Glad your back Alex. Been checking in once a week and TA DA here you are. I hope all is well with you,
It’s my 3rd month in driving already with CFI always keeping a extra eye out for your truck 😆
Glad to see you back bro keep on trucking
Hello greeting 👋
I think the 'cab over' you saw early in this video was what's known as a 'horse'. People who frequently move trailers around use them.
Using the 'horse' is easier than using a regular tractor. You see 'horses' a lot at rail yards and basically any kind of trailer yard.
Been driving over 40 years . Never heard of a hiway driver that only works 7 hours a day . Ridiculous
Actually there is quite a bit of room at this facility. Some of the places I have delivered to are alot smaller. I hate it when the worker tries to give instructions on backing, probably no CDL. I had a person telling how to back so I rolled up the window on her. She came banging on my door saying I can't hear her instructions. That was the point.
Cicero. The “old” burbs, my old stompin grounds. I used to spit off that first bridge! I drove there for a while . . . I miss it
Missed your videos a lot, welcome back buddy cheers 🎉
Hey welcome back Alex, hope your doing well, also I knew exactly where you were in the beginning once you got off the highway and hit the bridge and stuff, I go through there every Sunday and it is chaotic lol
Cool video. Like to see all the things truck drivers need to on job. Very interesting video . Thanks for keeping America going.
Professional driver of 20 years here, I would want to quit in that situation. You have to sort of guess where to go while driving a rig 80 foot long, it's so easy to get stuck and not be able to get back out of a bad situation. Can't pay me enough for those places.
Glad you are back! Hope you are well. Take care.
59:56 Yes, you need to push the red button and idle up. For like a minute. Then release and try moving tandems
GLAD YOU'RE BACK! THANKS FOR SHOWING MY OLD CITY THAT I MISS!!!!
Welcome back Alex. Stay safe...that`s crazy stuff!
Thanks for the video, I enjoy watching them, and thanks for the positive vibes! Drive safe!! 😊
😊😊😊
Hello greeting 👋
When someone else opens your trailer doors go check to be sure they latched it right. It that door gets loose and swings open when you are backing up it will be on you.
I drive that those street Monday thru Friday as a trucker. They won't let you go. You just got to do it. They eventually will stop
So glad you posted I been waiting a long time . ❤
If ever your unsure where to go on site, A lot of places will actually have a site map printed on paper that they can give to the drivers and that you can keep. Otherwise bring your phone with you into the office, and get them to point out on the satellite view exactly where to go, It will save you a lot of time and hassle especially on larger sites.
Also carrying a small spray bottle with a mixture of water and dish soap, will help you find any possible air leaks, because any Leaks will create bubbles in the mixture when you spray your tires or airlines. Take care Alex, drive safe.
It's good to see you back Alex I haven't been seeing any of your videos in awhile I thought something happened to you.
I never liked driving in Chicago with or without snow you hang in there Alex your doing a good job
It's always fun waiting 2-4 hours on almost every load with GP Transco, every now and then you get a load that gets loaded or unloaded in 30-45 minutes. I have had 2 drop and hooks in 9 weeks i have been with them. Metal and Paper seems to be about 90% of what they haul. Then if you get a dispatcher that makes you wait up to 2 hours to get your next pickup then you'll be rushing to drive your last 7-8 hours on your clock. About to leave to a western regional company with a 70% drop and hook rate, only big name retail companies. East coast sucks, especially the northeast, they need more truck parking.
Tick tock tick tock tick tock .....right off the bat
It's like Phoenix everybody goes at least 10 over the speed limit and doesn't care about signaling. The purring of truck motors when I lived in a van last winter, helped me sleep. I always loved parking overnight next to truckers with their motors on all night.
I love watching and listening to you. I can so relate to the little sounds you make and what you mean by them it's hilarious and Chicago ain't no joke.
Welcome back…missed you/your videos! Stay strong my brother! Be blessed!
I’m so glad too
Hello greeting👋
Well it's about time u came back Alex! Lol has always awesome video! Very nice new truck too! Stay safe and keep on truckin 😊
Good morning Alex good to see you back at it. Keep it up
My company is out of Chicago. When I got my CDL in about 99 Chicago was the worst town that I had seen. Where's the New York City and worse than Los Angeles. Came back out 8 years ago and it really wasn't that bad but right now it's pretty damn horrible.
welcome back Alex have been looking forward to your videos. Drive safe have yourself a great holiday.😎
iam so happy to see your videos again i hope all is well
I drop and hooked for West Side Transport at Waste Management in that area (picked up cardboard bales for International Paper.) I had 2:45 left on my 14 and it took me 2 hours to go 20 miles on I55 at 3pm in the afternoon. I was not going to overnight it in that neighborhood.
Welcome back Alex. Glad everything is OK.
That noise the engine makes isn’t from a Jake brake, it’s the engine brake , compression being released from the engine, I’m pretty sure they don’t put Jake brakes on trucks anymore, the Jake brake was a handle on the right side of the steering column you’d pull down on it and it applied the trailer brakes but not the truck brakes,. And I feel for ya , been there quite a few times, one time I had to make a pick up on the navy pier
Um the "jake" brake is the engine brake.
It's the same thing, the engine brake is the jake....... please don't comment if you don't know what you're talking about...
@@truckercowboyed2638 no its not, the jake brake only applied the trailer brakes , you should adhere to your own advice
Jake brake ,engine brake Either one, they're still both loud and annoying at 3 o'clock in the morning. In the small town, I live in with a population of less than a 1000. 😅
@@jacobravenwood7968 engine brake is loud, jake brakes are a thing of the past and they weren't loud all they did was apply the trailer brakes , but yes you only need the engine brake on hills and mountains and in emergency situations , cowboy truckers are the idiots who use an engine brake on flat ground
Welcome back Alex! Hope you enjoyed your vacation.
Hello greeting👋
Welcome back! Glad to have you on our team :)
You hired a dingus
Alex. On a flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Dallas. Iv driven a truck since 1993. U made a plane ride enjoyable this time !!!
Great to see you back man!
Hi Alex happy to see you back as a Driver my self I understand what your feeling it’s really hard to manage everything and be happy u you our self really nice to see you and just be good to you first my friend .
Glad to see you back bud. Great video and Chicago sucks to drive with a semi.
It really doesn't if you know wtf you are doing.... He's still got that childish mindset..
Alex, I'm so happy to see you back. Hope all was well, and if you got a vacation, you feel revived. Look forward to seeing more and hearing how things are. ❤
Hey Alex, I missed you my friend and I was worried that something happened to you. I'm glad to see you back I finally hit my one year mark and I can honestly say I hate pretripping in winter in Maine! I even started to post trip because I worry bout the brake lines in the cold. I don't go to Shitcago or I don't want New York either for good reasons. I gave myself a pay raise to 65 cets a mile and even gave my guys a raise for over 2 years with no incidents I now pay 70 cents over 4 years and incidents 75 funny my oldest driver is 26. I'm not saying that to hire people e're dozen pros but if you ever get want it my uncle would have hired you on the spot. I would o one better a sign on bonus plus take you to🤞 Sanford N.C. an hour away and let you drive off in a 2024 Kenworth T680. you have the offer.
Holy shiiit, English...do you speak it?

Glad for you to be back😅
I make a lot of deliveries to Chicago and I always pass the spot you’re in. You just gotta slowly inch out and they will eventually stop or move.
Keep up the good 👍 work 😊

Glad you're back on RUclips missed you man. Is everything okay with you? Greetings from the Netherlands.
Before i quit driving truck. One of my last deliveries was at o'hare airport in chicago. It was a shitty day for sure.

Hey Alex i really missed you bro yesterday I was like i miss Alex bro and then you posted a new video I wanna be a truck driver just like you that’s my dream
Been LI, NY to Chicago a few times . Good times.
Welcome back alex good to see you again
That is one fancy truck
Welcome back man it's been a while
i live in the chicago area and i know exacltly what you mean about our drivers , especially coming from a truckers point of view , my question is what did you think of the guides that were in the lot i thought they did a good jog organizing the trucks as they come in to dock . it was kinda aggravating to see on camera , i never seen that on your videos did it bother you a bit with all waving and such, anyways thanks for what you do i always thought about driving . peace and stay safe
I'm fresh out my trainers truck by myself dropped my 1st trailer and picked up my 1st load omw to Nashville lol
Omg this look chaotic. My nerves would be shot.
Hey Alex, I missed you bro! I'm glad to see you back buddy
