From Mind of Evil when you see The Master's worst fear is The Doctor laughing at him, to the Big Finish audio where he throws away his chance at a normal life to save someone he's in love with but can never have, you realize that all the schemes and mass murder attempts are just cries for attention froma deranged stalker. Love the choice of song on this one.
Nobody who will EVER play the Master will do it as accurately and as perfect as Delgado. The Master was written for Delgado. Anthony was close but nobody will ever match Roger Delgado.
I'm very pleased to see this video has passed the quarter of a million views landmark. It makes me rather proud to know so many have stopped by to view the work and I hope you've all enjoyed it :) Thanks.
Delgado will ALWAYS be the Master. Unlike the Doctor, where each succeeding Doctor has stood on his own, each succeeding Master has had to stand in Delgado's shadow. Ainley was good in his own way, but perhaps the showrunners pushed him too much into Delgado's mold. And poor Eric Roberts. Was as perfect for the role as any actor could be. Almost seemed tailor made for the part. And then had one of the worst scripts the series has ever produced. What greatness might have been...
I know what you mean about making you cry, Babelcolour is like a genius who knows how to creat such an atmosphere and such emotion by using such clips to the music. Brought a tear to my eye also as I look at the great performnaces of Roger Delgado, Anthony Ainley and the others, to hear their voice and presence over great music, and I'm a 45 year old man.
Michael Kean That's a very good question indeed, and I would agree with you more if the master was a real person, then it would be different, it would be like crying for Hitler after what he did to the Jews, but the Master is fiction, portrayed but such great actors like Roger Delgado and Anthony Ainley, and the way Babelcolour put this together with the music invokes the emotion! I hope that answers your question.
This video was completed and uploaded to RUclips before 'Last Of The Time Lords' was televised - so there was no way whatsoever that it could have ended with the Master's death!
I'm also extremely fond of that version of the Master, for exactly that reason...the desperation, driven to stay alive by sheer will. "Only hate keeps me alive...why else should I endure this pain?" Brilliant! I can't pick a favourite but I love the Pratt version.
God, that was excellent. The background music, I do believe, was wonderfully chosen, the transitions smooth and interesting, and the clips timed well with the music. I'm not an experienced vidder, granted, but I really enjoyed this. Thank you for making this and sharing it!
Geoffrey Beavers was the husband of the late Caroline John! That said there was only one person that played the Master without trying to hard or being Mr shouty man and that was the late great Rodger Delgado the Master of all Masters the only villain who was one of the little group known as the UNIT family
The darkest part of me completely loves him as a character. I just knew he was going to return. I remember posting a comment on here shortly after the End of Time part 2 was aired which was the top comment saying that it wasn't possible for the Master to have gone forever. Now Gallifrey has returned which is the place we last saw the Master disappear to. In my mind it wasn't a belief it was a fact. The Master is returning!
This is a FANTASTIC Video Tribute to the Master! I always wondered why he was a rotten guy and the new series explained it nicely. He'll be back for 2009 and I can't wait to hear what he'll say to the Doctor when they meet. "Oh my dear Doctor you HAVE been nieve!" But his "Childish desire to gloat" as the Doctor says will be his defeat again. Merry Christmas!
Random factoid: my granny used to be friends with Roger Delgado in the '30's, when they worked in the same office in London together... Your vids are amazing!
Wow. I didn't think anyone could use 'gregorian Metallica' to dramatic effect, but I have been proven wrong! The effort you've put in, the choice of footage to best capture the Master, and your attention to precise editing make this your best video yet.
Super! This just has to be my favourite of all your vids and they are all 5 star. No, really. There's something about the Master and this music that really works! Keep up the good work.
Oh, and I've just remembered another trick I used on a quote - the closing line "The Master - reborn!" had a load of Murrey Gold music betwen the words, so I lifted the line of dialogue off of 'Doctor Who Confidntial' (which was in studio for the part where he recited the line) and dropped the dialogue back over the televised sequence - thus no Murrey Gold!
Well done, that tuber! thanks for this and don't forget the scene whereby his ring is reclaimed from his pyre. the show ain't over yet. when asked 'whose hand picked up the ring rtd replied 'the hand of the rani'
anthony ainley imo was the best master and he was around till near the very end... more or less. its a shame ainley died before the 1996 tv movie as it was meant to be his master that the daleks ext executed right at the begining. it was ainley's master in the deathzone in the 5 drsp... RIP ANTHONEY AINLEY you may be gone but you will never be forgotten.
+BabelColour I was wondering, if you could do a version of this with more action. There is another Song I heard that fits the master as well. Sabaton Carolus Rex.
I three, I also stumbled across it when I thought I'd give fan tributes another shot, and you are king of kings of them, totally changed my opinion. Also this is my fave simple because I can't think of a better song to go with the doctors greatest enemy.
If you keep making tributes of this quality (and they all are). We'll have to call you The Master (of tribute videos) And bow before you! Great work and fantastic music.
Thanks spondonline - the background music is still there, just drowned out by the music track I chose! The worst offender was the line "Life is wasted on the living" which had very load music & soundFX in the background, so I dropped the volume really low so you could just discern the quote and dropped it behind the noisiest bit of the music! It seemed to work.
"I... AM... THE MASTER!"*evil tone* *pushes cable forward and hits camera *normal voice* "oh, im so sorry" it's a blooper from when the master kills chantho lol.
They're links from a 1997 PC game 'Destiny of the Doctors'. It was Ant's last appearance as the Master and he was brilliant. You can find some clips here on youtube and all of them as extras on the 'Survival' DVD.
First remark: I recognised the song not from Gregorian or Metallica, but from my CD of music played on a struck dulcimer. It's a fantastic tune. And it's so fitting too. As always, brilliance.
Heard somewhere that the master is returning for series 8. According to rumors, Charles Dance (from Game of Thrones) is going to play the Master to square off Peter Capaldi's 12th Doctor.
The Master is great in episodes, but I never really liked tributes and short videos made about him. I always loved to have him in an episode, but never really made a good object of fandom, unlike the Daleks. Until now. That was very well done, I loved it. *Adds to favs*
Man, babelcolor has been on this platform since the beginning of youtube
Ive been trying to refind this for years. Thanks for uploading this
From Mind of Evil when you see The Master's worst fear is The Doctor laughing at him, to the Big Finish audio where he throws away his chance at a normal life to save someone he's in love with but can never have, you realize that all the schemes and mass murder attempts are just cries for attention froma deranged stalker. Love the choice of song on this one.
Delgado hands down is the master. Menacing yet with a charm he perfectly captured the moriarty that the character was meant to be.
This version of Nothing Else Matters along with the Master gives me goosebumps.....great video.

I thought Peter Pratt did a very good job.
Delgado is the boss.
Such a hauntingly beautiful and frightening tribute to the Doctor's greatest foe. Well done! That eery but soft melody was perfect for him.
The is the best tribute to the Master I have ever seen it makes me want to cry I want them to bring him back so bad :(
I know what you mean about making you cry, Babelcolour is like a genius who knows how to creat such an atmosphere and such emotion by using such clips to the music. Brought a tear to my eye also as I look at the great performnaces of Roger Delgado, Anthony Ainley and the others, to hear their voice and presence over great music, and I'm a 45 year old man.
Well...for better or for worse you got your wish.
Why would you cry for this phsycopath timelord he is stone dead evil ;)
He's just misunderstood!
I love that when I heard the trailer for zero dark thirty and this music, this first thing that jumped to my mind was this video.
Thanks to everyone for the lovely comments. Glad to hear you're enjoying this little trip down memory lane. :)
I've watched most of your videos BabelColour but this is by far the best. Wonderful vid backed by an incredible version of 'Nothing Else Matters'.
I'm also extremely fond of that version of the Master, for exactly that reason...the desperation, driven to stay alive by sheer will. "Only hate keeps me alive...why else should I endure this pain?" Brilliant! I can't pick a favourite but I love the Pratt version.
I come back constantly and watch this. Quite frankly the best fanvid ever, for anything. nuff said.
Perfect. The way the speech blends into the song is downright eerie.
This is the coolest Master tribute ever and what a brilliant chioce of music!!!
Utterly fantistic with a superb choice of music, clips and sound bites.
This is sooooooooo good! Beautifully put together, as always when it's you. Big hug and a thank you for this!
This tune is so perfect a fit for the Master. Nothing Else Matters - and to the Master, nothing does. Victory at any cost.
Among the many things I love about this video are the visual effect you used at the beginning, with the faces combining.
Watched this a million times and still gives me goosebumps
God, that was excellent. The background music, I do believe, was wonderfully chosen, the transitions smooth and interesting, and the clips timed well with the music.
I'm not an experienced vidder, granted, but I really enjoyed this. Thank you for making this and sharing it!
Waiting for the update with The Mistress! I, for one, welcome back our Lady and Mistress!!
An update would be awesome!
Also cant wait for season 8 finale!
Geoffrey Beavers was the husband of the late Caroline John!
That said there was only one person that played the Master without trying to hard or being Mr shouty man and that was the late great Rodger Delgado the Master of all Masters the only villain who was one of the little group known as the UNIT family
That's very kind. I'm delighted you've enjoyed it so much :)
OMG! Derek Jacobi gave me quite literal chills. Thank you for this.
Babel, your videos are always a delight. So creative and well put together.
This one is no exception. :)
The darkest part of me completely loves him as a character. I just knew he was going to return. Babel;
You are the Master of these tributes.
Old Yellow Eyes is BACK, Baby!
Random factoid: my granny used to be friends with Roger Delgado in the '30's, when they worked in the same office in London together...
Your vids are amazing!
Truly a masterpiece. One of the best tributes to The Master on youtube.
Wow. I didn't think anyone could use 'gregorian Metallica' to dramatic effect, but I have been proven wrong!
The effort you've put in, the choice of footage to best capture the Master, and your attention to precise editing make this your best video yet.
Roger Delgado and John Simm: my fave "masters"
Babel C. YOU ARE BRILLIANT!
Absolutely brilliant! A great tribute by a true fan!
Super! This just has to be my favourite of all your vids and they are all 5 star. No, really. There's something about the Master and this music that really works! Keep up the good work.
Wonderful. Excellent choice of music, clips and fantastic editing. Loved that montage beginning too.

Thank you melesSapiens, I very much appreciate your kind words.
Two men can love and care for each other without being brothers, dear.
A good many fan videos are very poorly done. Yours is a work of art! Long live the Master!
I've just watched this for the umpteenth time and it's still brilliant.
You are an artist.
I think that even people that have never watched Doctor Who before would think this was awsome.
Wow, perfect music choice! It gave me chills.
Fantastic Video. Great Editing & Great choice of song!
All ur vids are brilliant! Great collation of old and new series clips
Yeah, the Master will always find a way out of impossible circumstances...He's there just waiting...and waiting...until the right moment.
one of the best fanvids ever made, a very good job.
anthony ainley imo was the best master and he was around till near the very end... more or less.

My favourite of all your tributes as I'm a Master freak.
This is absolutely beautiful! XD
Thank you!
+BabelColour I was wondering, if you could do a version of this with more action. There is another Song I heard that fits the master as well. Sabaton Carolus Rex.
+BabelColour flaw less brilliant all your work is mate well done on all your work each and every pieces is amazing
Great video. This is a really well done tribute. Five stars.
The Master will ALWAYS return, no matter what.
Thank you DocJackz. That montage was a real pig to make!
the part at the beginning where all the phones of the different masters come together gave me goosebumps
Sometimes, only one heart.
I miss Anthony.
Nice video.
This got recommended to me and it was worth it
Great editing job. I particularly liked the opening composite
Powerful piece. I really like it.
I three, I also stumbled across it when I thought I'd give fan tributes another shot, and you are king of kings of them, totally changed my opinion. Also this is my fave simple because I can't think of a better song to go with the doctors greatest enemy.

The Master is great, a very Shakespearian villain. Very flamboyant and theatrical too. Hope we can see him return soon.
Gives me chills everytime!
"I... AM... THE MASTER!"*evil tone* *pushes cable forward and hits camera *normal voice* "oh, im so sorry" it's a blooper from when the master kills chantho lol.
The Master just refused to die. One of my favorite character's in Doctor Who.
Watching this and after Missy; John Simm doesn't seem so bad...
My all time favourite Who line. Fabulous delivery by Ainley.
It's from 'The King's Demons'.
This is awesome. You, Sir, are The Master!
I'm still watching this and it's still great.
'Hoist by your own petard!'
They're links from a 1997 PC game 'Destiny of the Doctors'. It was Ant's last appearance as the Master and he was brilliant.
You can find some clips here on youtube and all of them as extras on the 'Survival' DVD.
As much as I loved The Simms Master, would it really have killed RTD to give us a little more Jacobi Master.
The Master will always return!
Briliant! Absolutely wonderful compilation. Loved it! :D
Wow! That video was FANTASTIC!
Absolutely bloody fantastic!
Very nicely done. I thought the music selection was perfect too. Great clips.
That felt truly epic. Just....Wow...is all I can say!
Wow you've got me there! You actually know more about Doctor Who than I do hahaha :D Amazing!
The montage at the start with different faces is impossibly cool
Tha Master has frequently gone beyond the regeneration limit. The Timelords even granted him a new set of regenerations.
He really is beautiful in such a dark way.
Weird cover of nothing else matters, I thought that was it though...it took a little bit to figure it out. I love the video, it's wild!
You're right, Delgado did say that line--it was in the time monster. I'm watching that serial this very moment.
You have a real talent for editing, my friend.
First remark: I recognised the song not from Gregorian or Metallica, but from my CD of music played on a struck dulcimer. It's a fantastic tune. And it's so fitting too. As always, brilliance.
I love the Master!!! :D He just seems so tortured, way deep down under all that evil. Kinda makes me want to give him a hug!!!
Heard somewhere that the master is returning for series 8. According to rumors, Charles Dance (from Game of Thrones) is going to play the Master to square off Peter Capaldi's 12th Doctor.
If only that were true.
TheValeyard92 , if only...
Awesome. Simply awesome!
Absolutely amazing.
great vid 5 stars. the last 2 incarnations of the master (though short lived) were the best
congratulations on reaching 100,000 views!
You really do make the best videos.
Perfect, as always!
wonderful! absolutely brilliant!
Very well spotted. It is, indeed, from 'The Time Monster'.
The Master is great in episodes, but I never really liked tributes and short videos made about him. I always loved to have him in an episode, but never really made a good object of fandom, unlike the Daleks. Until now. That was very well done, I loved it. *Adds to favs*
