  • IG live from 8-22-24 with Nick Young from ‪@VeloxTrainingGroup‬ , Matt Pranka from X-ray Alpha , and Officer Cake from ‪@Officercake‬ who wasn’t able to give his name.
When it comes to having impactful discussions there are experience requirements that go far beyond theory. That doesn’t mean time on this planet gives you experience or that all experience is relevant. We have tremendous access to information in this era but very little ability to vet it. Those of us with experience will say it’s important and those without will say it’s not. The more discussion we have the easier it is for you to decide.
It’s on you to educate yourself as a consumer of information, equipment, and services. Do so.

“Officer Cake” is the reason why cops are THE most terrifying people on the planet with guns….hands down. I have a feeling that he’s eventually gonna be the star of a BWC video that will be remembered for years to come….

I would argue it's just gun owners in general. Cops are not synonymous with individuals with poor gun handling skills. It's across the board. Civilian instructors, military instructors, LEO instructors, etc. all "camps" have poor examples and all "camps" have great examples of how instructors should be.

@@williamhitchcock5520 as far as people that carry a firearm as part of their job, definitely cops. But yes, civilians as well.

Matt, Chris and Nick I don’t know how you guys deal with the aggravation from trying to have these discussions. What “cake” attempts to bring to the table is bad enough, when he tries to give his statements any sort of structure and weight to stand up to analysis you quickly realize it has no substance. The fact people can’t humble themselves to take constructive criticism anymore is astounding and is the first hurdle in trying to have these conversations. Well done fellas, I had to walk away a couple times before I could make it through the video so I can only imagine what was going through y’all’s minds. Props for inviting and offering a spot in your classes! I would be ecstatic for the opportunity to be a sponge in any class each of you teach, I’d put money that he doesn’t take any of you up on the offer, maybe I’m wrong but something tells me he won’t put himself in the situation if he can’t control the outcome.

@Officercake This was rough, but HUGE props to you for having the balls to step up to the plate with some major league dudes who are known for not sugar coating things. 98% of LE dudes I have worked with don't give half a shit about training and you obviously care and are motivated. That's a huge win compared to most officers out there and I appreciate that you care. Try to take some of this knowledge to heart and apply it in the future. I've been an LE instructor for a few years now and I wish I had the knowledge I have now when I started teaching others. It's a journey though, and I think you care enough to apply lessons and grow better. Based on context clues I think we are pretty close to each other. If you're near South Central TX and want to train (private LE range) hit me up!

So as far as stress inoculation goes, you probable feel the stress from competition more because you’re already inoculated to some of the other stressors you mentioned. A foot chase or car chase is probably not stressful to you (although it is, you’re just inoculated to it) because you’ve been in lots of them. Your 100th swat raid is less stressful than your 1st, etc. Force on force training at handgun ranges, particularly complex scenario training has been the best training I’ve had

Officer Cake you will be alright if you reset and listen to Matt. I found tremendous value from action shooting matches. Also training and practice based on case law and a vigorous dry fire program. Low light IDPA in duty gear is awesome. A lifelong pursuit of accuracy at speed will save your life!

How do guys like “cake” think they have even an entry level understanding of these topics and skills to make such bold statements and stand behind them so cocksure in front of 3 guys with SOOO much knowledge and experience in literally EVERYTHING when it comes to shooting??? I would be humbled to have a conversation with these guys then to be told they would give me a spot in their training class!! I just didn’t understand the lack of humility to just admit “I was talking out my ass, let me take this constructive criticism and make a change going forward” I would like to give him respect for coming on but the hardheaded approach to trying to explain his comments lacks the honesty and self awareness to just admit being wrong. This guy has no business putting out “training” videos to anybody. Try to back up his ideas with his own “experience” and putting that against guys like Matt??

Experience is relative as well as those opinions. The breadth of knowledge is not always the same and when discussing things, you realize that what one thought was Experience actually is, but not In the manner they thought. Some simply have to be shown or proven.

Feels like you guys just about had him when inviting him to come train, and then flipped a switch and Matt just roasted him from there on out, felt like an opportunity might have been missed to turn him around. Unfortunately I think everything after that point just forced him to become more entrenched in his in-experienced and kinda dumb ideas. So he will probably keep spewing poor training ideas on his channel for a long time.
That being said, a local PD officer that uses "Hanging in a parking lot BSing with your friends and not going out to Hunt" to describe the difference between the two things officers should be doing every day is cringy at best, and extremely problematic at worst. Its "serve and protect" not "chill and hunt" Dude probably deserves to be de-platformed.
