"You have some very dry skin."
"MÆA"
She literally went “Ma,am, I take insult to that”
😂
Most domestic long hairs=90% floof+10% cat
Ruby=10% floof+90% cat
😅
It’s all tangled in the matting, plus she’s probably torn a ton out throughout the time her fur’s been like this.
If it’s more properly managed in the future, it will probably grow out nice and long and beautiful again in no time.
More like 90% fat!😕
Is this Spicy Mayo in disguise? 😂😂😂❤❤❤
you mean fat and fluffy
She was actually quite calm and compliant under the circumstances.
That's all I could think lol
Valium will do that to you
@@samiirai
You could tell she was hella drugged
Until she reached her butt
2:15 I’m not entirely sure what furniture she could fit under😂
tables are furniture, right?
You’d be shocked. My brother had a morbidly obese cat (we think it was glandular), and she managed to squish herself under a 5 inch tall space under the couch to hide
My male tiger cat was obese and you'd be shocked where they can fit
@@beanj580 yeah I was mostly just making a joke, but the general rule of if their head can fit and they can fit definitely goes by the wayside when they get obese lol. They can still fit in a lot of things, but it definitely changes
I thought Ruby was very fluffy, until the shave reached her tum, then I realized she was just chunky.
That cat is a f-in unit.
@@avienated That cat isn't a unit. It's the whole damn battalion.

Dat belly's a well hanger. Got to put her on a wet food fast.
🎶 Despite all her rage Ruby was a cat in a drying caaaaage 🎶
I personally wish to thank you for singing it out cuz that's exactly what I was trying to put into a song you have made my morning happy Saturday
@@AmyWright-xx4jd - 'Twas my pleasure 😄 and Happy Saturday to you too! 🤗
Not gonna lie, sang that in my head when I read it. I could hear Billy Corgan screaming the cage part. That was awesome and I thank you

"Someone would say, cats who hissed can never be saaaaved!"
30 years of vet/grooming cats experience speaking. We always sedated cats for these kinds of shaves. Both so they don't injure staff or themselves.
They just do not tolerate grooming back legs and groin areas. So seeing you able to do it without knocking her out is a real testimony to your skill and patience.
Have seen a few cats that would let themselves be groomed but they were like the 1%.
I have a black and white beachball with Kaleeshi virus. So every time she went for a dental I had her groom done same time.
My cats are definitely the 1%. I always have to ask that they not be sedated and if they would just let them sit in my lap, they won’t even move, and it is so hard finding a vet/groomer willing to give me a chance. Which I know there are owners whose cats act like Ruby, and they claim their kitties don’t meed sedation so that the owner can save $60, so I understand their perspective as well. But once they actually let me come in for the appointments everything works out! I bathe my cats regularly and do most other things like trimming them, their nails, and brushing their teeth; but the one thing I haven’t gotten down yet is using a razor, so huge shave jobs are the one thing I have to take them to get done. I wish there was like a certificate of “yes my cat is actually calm and needs no sedation” I could get from a vet.
I worked really hard to train my cats since they were kittens though, and train cats I foster too to get used to being handled for necessary grooming stuff. My current vet also lets me scruff my own cats at the appointments while getting their yearly shots and stuff now that they have seen how much calmer they are, since my cats are used to me doing daily body checks on them. (They do cooperate if someone else scruffs them, but they keep escaping to my arms instead, so they’re now just like, “fuck it. You know how to scruff’em and can make them sit on the scale. Hold’em please.”)
I love how she looks like an astronaut with that glass bubble on the head. An *actual* spacecat!
Me too. I started hearing, "This is ground control to Major cat.." Space Oddity, in the back of my head.
Wow this was a dire situation - mats that literally look like you're tearing up carpet from an old home AND she was scratching in real time as you were relieving her pressure and discomfort - thanks, Vanessa, for freeing her from her fur-prison.
As opposed to figuratively looking?
@ferretyluv Get up on the wrong side of the bed today? Take a happy pill and go away.
@@ferretyluvlook up the word "litterally" on google. Its definition updated since the last time you checked. It is either used in it's formal definition, or used as an emphasis. You can find this on dictionnary websites. People need to stop whining about the use of litterally and google its new definitions, i see and hear this type of comment way too often.
It's her owners fault this is willful negligence.
@kenj0165 You can only assume - the truth is we weren't there and do not know the details. That said, Vanessa changed chonky Ruby's life tor the better.
First time I've heard a cat bark 😅
I’m glad I’m not the only one who heard that! 😂
Me too! 😂
My cat used to growl and bark when the doorbell rang. We got her when she was about 2, so we think she lived with dogs before.
Me too!!
Use to have a beautiful black cat who would sit in the laundry room window, who would chirp and bark at the flock of birds and any squirrel in the backyard. She passed away in 2009.
How this lady managed to do this all on her own and with only 2 hands is amazing. Expert level stuff.
3:10 "i get alot of questions about my f**k off T-shedding product line"
3:53 Vanessa: "Stop it."
Ruby: *_"No, YOU stop it."_*
🤣🤣
Literally came to say this 😂
Good thing she had the helmet on or Vanessa could have been seriously hurt.
1:23 Behold, the catstronaut
Ruby is precious. Can't imagine how much the itching bothered her. Thank you for helping her. 😊🎉❤
"You have some very dry skin"!!!
Ruby literally replied "what?!" 😂🤣
😂😂
Can you give a time stamp?

I’m glad she felt so much better, she was a chunky little thing wasn’t she. 💚💚
I was gonna say, she thiccc
she's definetly a chubby (but very adorable) girl, which may have contributed to her mats. Obese cats have a hard time grooming their back ends, so keeping your kitty at a healthy weight is always a good idea! ❤
@@zoeruhl7525why would you? It’s inane.
The word you all are looking for is chonk 😊
@@Happyheretic2308 Cause she is thicc, fat, chonk, round, potato shaped.
0:44 vanessa: "you have some very dry skin"
ruby: "excuse me?"
1:58 That may have been the most pronounced "Meow" I've ever heard.
I think Vanessa is talking back to her.
At the same moment you told her "Stop it!", she was saying the exact same thing to you, just a bit more emphatically.
Glad you were able to help her feel better and you parted as friends.
it's.. a... space... cat.... omg omg omg she's so cute space kitty😍
She looks like she forgives easily. As long as proper tribute is paid in snacks.
@@redwolfexr and scratches
Yeah it can be easy to forget that from the cat's point of view this is just some really weird thing you're doing for no apparent reason that the cat really doesn't like in certain areas of their body. Though they seem to potentially bond with you if they feel like nothing unforgivable happened in the end.
At least she's quick to forgive, bless her fuzzy heart!
From my experience, that's the breed. 😊 Maine Coon blood makes a kitty more gentle.
It's hilarious how tiny her head suddenly looked when you put the little hood on her and squished all that floof down.
She looks so much more comfortable all clipped and bathed, and I'm sure she feels much better too. Thanks for taking such good care of her!
That's not a hood, that's a hamster ball 🤣
Ruby hasn't missed any meals, for sure!
She looks so comfortable afterwards. You have the kitty patience of Job.
The progression from "oh she mad" to "oh she REALLY mad" gave me a solid chuckle.
That's one porky cat, looks a bit like a cross between a lion and a haggis. Fine work as ever !
Ok, that definitely wins my internet snort comment of the day! It's so funny because she really does look like a haggis! Omg. Funny.
a HAGGIS oh my god
I snorted so badly... 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
LOL. A haggis. 😂😂😂😂
Legs not the correct proportions for a Haggis
4:10 despite all her rage she is just a cat in a cage
Cat from outer space! 😂 Awe I love what you do! So educational about different breeds!
Poor Ruby, she must feel so much better after her spa day! Cats that are too chunky have trouble grooming themselves, we see it all the time.
I don't think she could physically reach! Too much chub in the way.
Yeah exactly I was thinking the same thing she's is chunky can't see her grooming the behind properly.
Ooo poor guys & grls
It's sad how we've normalised obese animals, they have such a hard time grooming themselves, not to mention all the health risks :(
And possibly in some amount of arthritic pain from her joints and back trying to support all the extra weight. This will make her less inclined to groom properly too
Cats going from normal, to happy hoodie cone head in a singular camera cut. Coupled with your monotone narration, always makes me audibly laugh.
Giant ball of fluff ending in a skinny little tube with whiskers. Freaking adorable.
That ain't a skinny kitty. I suspect that had something to do with all the matting. They need to change her food and give her less of it.
@@gheefreak had a cat growing up. Bowling ball with legs. Didn't eat too much, but had a liver condition that screwed with her weight. Might be the something similar.
Regardless, chunky or skinny. All cats with happy hoodies make me laugh. Horizontal periscope.
You clearly didn't watch the video or there's something wrong with you if you think that's a skinny cat.
Not so skinny, even shaved, but I'm getting you overall.
I agree with OP. Happy hoodied cats still look like their heads are a skinny tube, no matter how round their body is. In fact, the roundness of their body accentuates the skinny-tube-head-with-whiskers effect. It is a goofy sight.
This was oddly satisfying. I could just feel the relief the beautiful cat had ❤
Ruby needs a treadmill!!!
To be a cat she was unbelievable calm.
you didn't watch the whole video did you
@@topasu9454 I did but I understand that you have not and that you have neither seen cats that is absolutely livid, and compared to them this cat behaved very calm majority of the time. So you go and look up those cats how they normally can be and come back and see if you say the same thing, I'm very sure you won't.
Cats are very calm, but ofc they have their moments when they are playful and active. But the average is mostly calm
Poor baby. I'm sure she felt so much better when she was done.
She’d feel a lot better if she lost some weight
2:31 One small step for man, one giant leap for cat kind
2:37 LOL "I am being subjected"
Ruby was taking no fluffs while being groomed. Beautiful Ruby felt much better after her spa appointment.
She had no fluffs to give
Well in Rubys defense you turned her into a lion and she acted accordingly😊
Lol she looks like she's wearing a costume from the musical, CATS. 🤣
I had a friend named Ruby, but she was nice! 😂 Only kidding … poor kitty. Lucky kitty to have Vanessa to take care of her! 🥰
Great job as usual! I hope the lovely Ruby gets a complete vet exam and is put on a better diet. Obese kitties can't groom themselves like fit kitties do,even worse with long hair, and are also prone to other health issues.
I’ve never heard a cat growl like that!!! Thank you so much for helping poor Ruby!
My Maine Coon growls like that when I brush her, but she’s all noise and nothing else.
Erm, in my experience, a low growl like that is a warning to not-so-kindly Fluff Off... The few times my kitty did that, she was beyond upset and claws AND teeth were soon to become an issue. Which is why Vanessa trimmed the murder mittens immediately afterwards and put Ruby into the trouble bubble.
@@Blue84Stang Yes, I am aware 😅 My two sentences were not intended to be related.
Have you never met a rescue cat? Mine growl like this all the time if you get too handsy 😅
@@clarrytheclam My family has a rescue cat, but she’s more likely to silently claw or run than make any warning noise. Just depends on the cat I guess :)
“Raging Ruby”? Awesome nickname. 🤣
Poor Ruby. Her matted fur must have been so uncomfortable. You did an awesome job!!
Even after all of that Ruby was willing to be friends. She's still a good kitty.
Trapped in a glass ball of emotions.
Thank you for this. I haven't laughed this hard in a very long time. 😂
Despite how mad she was, she didn't attack. What a sweet baby! No wonder she gets all the treats. ❤
And she really should stop getting all the treats
3:55 she didn’t attack?
@@kali.flowers nah, that was a warning about what she'd do if pushed just a little further 😄

I am dying from laughter.
Wearing a little astronaut helmet!!! I love it!! 😂😂😂

Clipping the mic to the bubble was inspired! For all her anger, I'm soooo glad she's gonna feel better!
The astronaut helmet will never get old.
Despite all her rage she was still just ready to cave.
poor baby, that matting looked rough but she must feel sooooo much better now!!!
the "meow?" at 0:46 omg 😍
Letting your cats (and dogs) free feed, overeat, and be overweight is going to shorten their lifespan. You love your pet and want it to live as long as possible? Take care of them!! Vet trips, measured feedings, play with them, even 5 minutes is better than none.
It's very sad how common obesity is in pets, especially in cats. It's even worse when people think it's "cute". Like, dude, it's not cute that your cat can't groom itself properly, winds up getting diabetes, and has joint problems 😔
Exactly!
Animals and owners are usually the same; I have seen vegetarians and vegans who forces same diet to their pets. So I'm guessing this cat's owner is also overweight and not a "health freak" so to speak which they won't be sweating off with healthy diets, veggies and sports everyday only to have couple more years than the average. So I think, you should first convince the owners to change their own diets and life styles before convincing them to force it to their pets. :P
this isn't always true about free feeding. there are certainly animals that eat to excess, but many (I'd argue most) eat when they're hungry. Most of the time overweight animals aren't gorging themselves on dry cat/dog food. They're eating an excess of treats or table food. Or being overfed wet food.
@@Haplo-san Sorry, Idgaf what the owner's health and lifestyle is. Humans make their own choices, our pets don't get the same hand. Forcing an animal to be vegan is abuse, nothing else to say on the matter.
The sight of the RODE microphone @1:35 is hilarious.
Ruby is so freaking cute
Cats are truly wonderful creatures
Poor Ruby! I bet she felt a WHOLE lot better after that! Those mats looked like pieces of dried carpet! 😻♥👍
Never seen such matting. 😢 Hope the owners keep up at home with regular grooming and take her to the vet. She's a sweet little lion. 🐈🦁
They need to put her on a diet also so she can properly groom herself
Yea. Looks like she's over fed and not brushed regularly. Shes obviously well loved. Just not in the right way lol
@Insectoid_ yeah, someone cares to make sure she gets fed well. I kinda wonder if she's owned by someone elderly who might not he able to perceive the problem. (I'm probably over analyzing things though lol).
Owners need hee on a diet
@@rachael1090 I thought the same tbh
Her tail 😭🥹🩷 so cute . Lion 🦁 kitty
✨you look thrilled✨ that had me rolling for some reason 😂
I like how you put a microphone *on* the cat during the shave, just so we could get all the growls :)
Despite all her rage, Ruby's still just a cat in a cage. 😂😂😸😸😂😂

She clearly felt much better at the end. She was a good girl really ❤
Lol i said "oh she mad" and then Vanessa said it 😂
I am glad you got advice from the Vet Clinic.. 😂

She's just like me 🤦🏻♀️😂
the kitty's doing the surprised Pikachu face in the thumbnail 😂
That's why I clicked on it 😂
Her meow is so precious tho
i bet her owner was so happy! I am sure they appreciated your work so much!
As a vet tech, she's likely so matted because she's so overweight she can't turn to groom. I see a lot of cats like this unfortunately. I hope the owners seek veterinary care and advise so she can lose all the weight.
The phrase "kitty timer" has become a part of my vocabulary when I'm giving my cat sub-q fluids (she has kidney disease). The Kitty Timer is a very important thing to be aware of! 😄
She looks like she's ready to go deep sea diving 🤣.
She's a trooper.

That plastic helmet thingy is a brilliant idea! Perfect!
Poor Ruby! I’d be mad too if I had matts like that!
I think she knew she looked like a lion when she started growling. Some deep roars from that little beast. 😂
Extremely matted *and* obese. Poor kitty. I'm sure she feels much better now, thanks to you!
I understand why owners are inclined to over feed their cats; the cat's constant whining and pleading for food can really wear you down. But, obese cats have all kinds of serious health problems, and poor hygiene with the resulting matted coats are part of that.
It was hard to see the fur come off just to reveal a cylindrical body. Poor thing.
@@DiamondLilthat’s absolutely not an excuse for a cat to be overweight. You shouldn’t even be “understanding” of that. It’s just poor emotional boundaries and enabling. Overfeeding their cat because they don’t have patience to deal with whining? Thats like giving a kid anything it wants because it’s having a tantrum..
