Great video and explanation. I ran an OTS Map from Cobb AP for well over 100K miles (160K kms) with zero issues. And yes, Cobb engineers likely know more than we do. Fuel is definitely a huge issue/topic.
great explanation! I totally agree with your take on running a map 0 from the AP to gain a baseline value of your car. I did the same thing and learned a lot about my cars quirks before modding
Glad it was helpful brother and yes I wish I did that in the beginning honestly would have saved me a lot of stress and worry. Thank you for watching !
@@bradfordsmith3203 no problem. There is a ton of miss information and people in the forums and FB group just saying random stuff it can be frustrating honestly. Thanks for watching🫡
Man i love how much you went in depth on this topic! Ive been struggling with DAM drop since I went stage 2 and this clarified some things I did not know. Also What you said is true, cobbs off the shelf tunes arent horrible, Ive been running stage1/stage 2 for almost 90k miles and my wrx is at 101k miles as of today. The engine is in great condition, only thing i ever had go bad was 02 sensors and speed sensors.
Thank you so much for watching brother. I am glad that this video is helpful I remember us talking about this a while ago since we went on the OTS maps. I hope this solves the issue you are having.
would very lowered cars scraping now n then on inner guards cause fake knock ? lol keep getting random drop in dam on lower rpms . I have to drive around good 30mins to get it back to 1lol. . on WOT never get a DAM drop
Its likely honestly based on your WOT statement hitting something can for sure cause it and even shifting hard too can cause the sensors to register knock. Are you running an OTS tune too ?
I've had e tunes, one pro tune, and Ots tunes, and my dam would go back and forth for 7 years. All because of the lovely fkl crap I get. These cars are prone to knock and false knock. Dam on stage 0 starts from 688 and goes all the way up to 1. My car didn't have any fkl until 2 years after I I tuned it. Thought it was gas, thought it was the tunes, nope, nothing anyone said was the issue. If you have issues with dam dropping and having fkl get the carbon cleaned . It messes with the fkl like crazy. I'm at almost 70k and never once had an issue. I'm not sure how many miles you have, but check on that. I also run ethanol free gas, and it makes my car run way better.
Thats very interesting currently at 94k and I haven’t cleaned my valves and I run E70 on a regular. Haven’t ran an OTS map in like 3-4 years and haven’t had many issues. Very interesting that you run ethanol free gas I was told Ethanol help with pre-detonation and knock control. But thats very very interesting to see. Also did you have a Air oil separator? It helps me a-lot what are your thoughts ?
Dam is supposed to drop on these cars, it shows the ecu is working to save your car. If dam does not drop and you're protuned, i would be very worried that the protuner desensitized knock sensors to keep dam at 1 always
@@TheLastS209 agreed but frequent DAM drops are not normal. Being protuned wont stop it completely but when it does drop on a pro-tune something is for sure wrong ive been protuned for 5 years dam has only drop 2-3 times and its was an issue. It was 2 boost leaks and spark plugs. Regardless even if DAM does not drop your car can blow up too

@@TheOBDMafiathat's the point they were making. If a tuner makes it to where dam never drops, you won't even know there's an issue, and boom.
@ sounds like a bad Tuner.
