Thank you so much for this video bong. I can't wait to make this! (:
Fermenting food, It's very good to all people (original ethnic group of people). The most important is your equipment must be clean and shine. If you smell something funny please discard and start over again. when you eat fermented food, you should smell like one, if not, don't! You know what meant, right? Safety for your health is the goal!!!
Yes sanitation is very important.
Hi bong, thank you for the wonderful video and Mam Lahong. I am just curious if we can use salmon instead? What do you think? Thanks!! xx
Sreyneang chea Yes you can use salmon bellies it's the best!
Thanks, bong!
Hello. If I use white suger is it 3/4 cup?
Please reply
Sound about right
I'll let you know in two day 😊
Im making this during the winter time so its cold outside, should I have the shrimp ferment longer? It's still sunny out but it's cold. Should I leave it on the kitchen counter at room temperature?
Emily Roellke either one will work.
Hi bong! I have a question when you Melt the plum sugar and let it cool down does it get hard. Because I did it and it was so hard I couldn't mix it with the papaya???
Brenda So Mine didn't turn hard, but it was sticky. Did you add water to melt the sugar?
Yes bong I put water 1/3 cup, but it was hard I had to remelt it again and than mix it hot with papaya.
Where I live we don't have any sun at all.... Can I use the microwave to speed up the process?
Xolotl Xtrapolator I've never done that before and not sure how it will turn out.
I think you can use a oven put on low heat
bong can u make kdam prai ponkong
+Ghost Hunter Of Stockton California Okay when I have time.
+Elissa Sok Yaung Huh that was my wife who wanted.
Hi Elissa i wood like to ask you can you make mam fish like any fish
Most fish, not all fish.
Can you make Tuk Kroeng?
Felina Eang Yes Felina Eang, thank you for watching.
Can I leave the shrimp in the sun for just 1day or 2 then mix it with the papaya ? Also when I’m done do I leave it in the refrigerator so the flavors can kick in ?
Mary Mouth yes.
Hi, I would like to follow your recipe. But, do I have to leave the shrimp in the sun? I live in the east coast and it’s now starting to get cold. Can i just put the shrimps in a jar and leave it in the house?
Sitla Yim you could pan dry them.

I saw a different way to make mam lahong by using this brine called Vietnamese Mam Ca Sac Xay , is that way just an alternative for this or is it different taste wise?
I saw some people do that too because I think it's faster and easier but I've try it. Taste wise, I think it's might be different because if you make your own shrimps it more flavorful and better texture.
Cooking with Elissa okay thank you for replying so fast , I've been trying to make Khmer food on my own since no family live close and there's so many different ways to make the same things , your videos help a lot as well
Thanks for watching. I'm glad the videos are helpful to you.
Fingers licking goodness either with drinks and with steamy rice goodstuff
Can I order some from you
Mary Mouth sorry I don’t take order.
shrimps are called bongkear not bongkorng, lobsters are called bongkorng
Yes sir, got it. Thank you.
You’re right, bongkea is bay shrimp, which is a lot smaller than you have now. Bong Kong is prawns and lobster is bongkong samuth. Keep up the good work.

Can you stop speak 2 language.
Can I ask why and which language do you prefer?
Cooking with Elissa either one, you speak both Khmer and English are perfect, but when you speak Khmer and than English just feel you repeat and make the time longer.
