CONGRATS Syd! That's a huge accomplishment! Here's to hoping that the healing continues as quickly as it has been, and that you have an awesome race regardless to which one you end up at!!
I broke my hand 2 years ago , pinky and ring finger side and I still have no knuckle on my ring finger . Glad they finally let your hand out of all that wrapping . Your hand actually doesn’t look that bad . Good luck with your continued recovery !
I had the same limited range of motion at first, range came back pretty quick. I do have a trigger finger release issues that's new, but it could just be looking down the barrel of 70yrs old. Still Racin' though!
I borrowed an (single) Ergon GA3 grip from a friend this past summer after banging my hand up enduro training. It really helped to disperse the pressure around the injury. Syd, now is your chance to say, “I can beat you with one hand behind my back!” (... or, at least with it resting semi functionally on the bars) ;)
Syd, you got this. Glad you are healing well. Staying positive . Well done. May the 50 go well. Here is something to put on you bucket list for next year. The Vermont 50. Which takes place the last Sunday of September. The best part is all the vertical of 8900. What goes up comes done. LOL. Have fun and enjoy.
OMG I just found this! I broke my left hand on 1 Jan 2020 MTBing. Ortho hasn't braced it yet since it's too swollen. Just ordered an indoor spin bike for the winter. Good luck and thanks!
Congratulations guys after TRAINING for big events 50 to 80 km we brought emtb. Your you tube channel made us realize we didn't enjoy cycling any more because we had to do so many base miles to keep even a minimum of fitness. Thanks
Little tip: place a fan in front of the stationary trainer. Maintaining a better body temperature during training only enhances your results. You obviously generate a wind force outside. Remember heat increases body work and hinders training quality and endurance.
You got more strength than me, when I broke my hand I gave up riding the trainer and just started riding on the road. The amount of weird looks you get riding with a cast is actually pretty funny. At least I fractured my 4th metacarpal(ring finger) so I could poke the shifter with my pointer. But one question, so have you had any plans on getting more hand movement help? I got my cast off 4 weeks ago and I still have crappy thumb movement.
Get you one of those carpet drying fans from sams club I have a lasko I think it is. The thing puts out like a 20 mph wind. Its really hard to hold your power when you get over heated.
Are you going to visit a physiotherapist? I had a hand specialist after injuries and it was amazing. They know what's safe and can push you beyond what feels safe to help get back you motion and strength faster. Plus they will do objective measurements to gauge your progress.
@@sydandmacky Woohoo. Good luck. Wonder if they'll let you film any. Yoann got to film a bit of his leg treatment. The measurements alone are a great help. You might feel like you aren't making progress, but the numbers will show progress (which helps with the mental aspect). I had a therapist for a break then a tendon transfer (same arm), but then not for the follow-up carpal tunnel release. Carpal tunnel release was the hardest mentally due to feeling like I'd never get better. Initial recovery was quick, but the whole scar tissue and remodeling of that tissue was not explained well and seemed to take forever to resolve.
@SydandMacky: I race high school mountain biking in Utah and I mostly race 18 mile loops but next year it’s more like 25 but I’m training about every day but would the BFR bands help with in my situation?
BFR is great if you're injured or already doing everything else you possibly can. But until you're trying to get that 1-2% advantage and have done everything else you can, it's probably not worth the investment as they're pretty expensive...
with winter coming up you guys should do a video on how to train in the winter I want to train really hard for next race season but that's really hard when it snows I want to get a trainer but $$$$ I'm hoping to be getting top 5 next year I was getting top 10 and 15 this year in intermediate and this is my first year of racing or really even just mountain biking any way it would be awesome if you guys made a vid like that some time
So what's Macky been doing while you guys have been at the parentals rehabbing? Solo rides? Will we see a Macky perspective video? Macky out gettin rowdy on a boys ride?
@@sydandmacky hopefully one of them is you out with some locals pushing yours and their limits. We all love it when Macky gets sendy. We see Macky pushing Syds comfort zone alot but it's not often we see Macky out with riders that push his limits (though I'm sure there isn't many who can). Just a thought

Great job Syd! I'm proud of you for working so hard. I bet you still send it in October!

She's back ! Almost. Won't be long though .
Well done Syd!
I've never heard of BFR before, I almost can't imagine working out like that. but I'm glad to know about it now.
Thank goodness you have got rid of the claw. Hopefully now you can make a full recovery and we can see you racing again.🤗🤗

Awesome job taking care of yourself in recovery and great tips on nutrition
You could try setting up a front brake lever next to your rear on the right so you can use both with one hand.
That's comin along nicely, keep er goin!

You got this Syd! Just clamp your hand to the handle bars and go go go! 🤪
The Comeback Kid!
I find out Monday if my wrist is healed completely after a bad break beginning of July. Can’t wait to get back on the bike.
Excellent!
Yeah Syd!!!!! Keep up the hard work. That's how you be more awesome.
on yah Syd, inspirational
Recommended: Power Putty for hand strengthening. Get well soon!
Yeah, Jingle Cross, such a fun race. If that's not keeping you motivated I'm not sure what will
No claw handle bar shots at the end = 👍👍👍💪💪💪
Go get em Syd

Yeah no more claw, You still have a fair amount of swelling, so you may get some of a knuckle back as time goes on. Great news.
