Wow Karina you always amaze me with your sewing but this one you’ve outdone yourself! It’s so cool that anyone can watch your step by step video and get that same beautiful jacket! Always so many details and great sewing techniques, I’ve learned so much watching your videos and I’m old and been sewing since I was a little girl. You’re so talented, we are blessed to have a such great teacher and so pleasant to listen to. Thank you so much! 💐
When I, and probably others, sew a garment I am always uneasy that it will look “home made”. Your garments always look high-end and exclusive yet you show us how to achieve this. Thank you so much.
I feel so lucky that you make your expertise available to me through your videos. As always, thank you! The way you lined this designer look jacket makes a very nice finish.
Karina, This is a very nice jacket, no it’s not nice it’s FABULOUS! You always take such great care with details. You should get lots of wear out of it. Again thanks for sharing this construction it’s very helpful.
So glad I found your channel! So inspiring! I just purchased the Coda pattern for the quilted version. But now, watching your jacket, I fill inspired to try it in thin artificial fur, but I wasn’t sure about the lining. Thank you for make it so easy to comprehend. Love all your makes. Thank you! ❤🙏🏻
Your inspired jacket is sooooooo lovely! I know you will enjoy this for years to come. I Googled the original and this year’s signature jacket is about 10K. I think your jacket is so much more practical.
The jacket is gorgeous, i love it styled with jeans. I finally bought the Metra and the Rhapsody, I've had them on my makes list for so long. Thank you for your link and coupon code!
Underlining the jacket completely makes it stay vitually crease proof, fab idea. Looked at the instuctions for the couture version your method accomplished the same visual outcome. Bravo!
Oh my giddy aunt! That is amazing! I love it soooo much. I'm about to make a Coda puff jacket but this has inspired me to give this look a go some time later. Such inspiration. I've always wanted to make a Chanel style jacket and I think this is the best option for me to try. Now I have to go back and watch your first Coda video again to figure out how to add the darts. Thank you for another inspiring video.
An absolutely lovely make, outstanding. I have had a piece of boucle and the lining to make a “French” jacket for a few years now. I have watched so many videos, but as usual, yours is the one that makes it look do able. Thank you once again
I totally agree. There are a few similar patterns in my stash that I might use the pockets. Otherwise, the Coda pattern is now my #1 pattern for this project.
There are many patterns I would not buy. This was one. I don’t like quilted clothing. But you have shown how I can use this to make a stylish jacket. I agree with the straight across idea. I may go ahead and buy this one after all.
Your jacket turned out stunning! Thank you Karina for providing us with such an informative channel. Who would have guessed a jacket this smart looking could be easy enough for even me to sew! Super expensive looking, I'm excited to give it a go.
It's beautiful Karina, and all your tips are so helpful! Now I know exactly why my recent attempt to make a skirt from very loose tweed turned out so badly Next time I'll know to fully interface it. 😁 Thanks for all that you do to share your expertise with us!
I love the buttons. Also, the bias binding on the edges prevents the itchy top fabric from irritating the back of the neck and the wrists (places I might likely have exposed to it).
I am twin needle team. But I don't use a stablizer. I use woolly nylon in the bobbin and a regular foot. My hem is just 3/4" or 1 inch and I topstitch really close to the edge. I also serge the edge because I like the look of it finished. Quick and easy. Oh and I have two machines, so I thread one for twin needle and one for regular stitching.😊
Thank you, Karina, for another wonderful video. It makes me want to try a lined jacket. I’ll have to start with an inlined first. I have a quilt that I made a few years ago that I will use for my first Coda.
Thanks, your videos are always so helpful, I really learn a lot! from all your videos. Your jacket is stunning, and you'll get to wear it for years to come, well worth all your planning and hard work. I think people are going to be very surprised to find out you made that! I have been thinking about making a "French style" jacket too, and it's very on trend now. You've inspired me to try it using my LN Coda jacket pattern as well.
Thanks Karina, so glad I decided to watch this even if the jacket is not something I would ever make.... I had been eying the boyfriend cardigan (was thinking of drafting something similar) and had started drafting pants like the allegro, then you announce the sale on love notions. Used your affiliate link! Also wanted to say your channel has been my go to for advice on sewing, although my mother is a master tailor and fashion designer she skips steps when explaining things to me (as I am not a sewer at all). BTW regards from my mother, she agrees that if you hand sew the seam then you should hand sew the other parts ie binding.
You are lucky to have your mother for advice. My mum does not sew at all so I fumbled a lot when I started as a kid. Lots of trial and error. I’m 100% a fan of hand sewing. The results are so much nicer:)
Outstanding Jacket! I was thinking about this when I first saw the pattern. Have been wanting to make the French inspired jacket for years. Fabric is in my stash and waiting. You have inspired me to get going. Have to find some trim. I am just finishing a denim Coda which I quilted with a pretty paisley lining. I accidently trimmed the front on the wrong side and just about ruined it. I put a patch over it and quilted it and now you can hardly tell. I can so relate as to how out mind can go off somewhere. As usual you made a wonderful garment and should be proud and will wear it for many years to come! Congratulations.
Beautiful jacket! I attempted a French jacket a couple of years ago. It’s not hard but time consuming. I kept putting it away and by the time I did finish it, it was too small for my body! They really are beautiful though, I should give it another go!
I made a lined jacket out of loosely woven fabric but didn't use interfacing. I wish I had. Is it worth trying to add some now?. I love how you add your personality to the patterns. Canadian Sue
Would the seam binding be absolutely needed? Or is it needed for stability? I can’t decide which way to go? Thought I would definitely line and trim. Really a couture make. Love all you do.
Yes you need to finish the edges. Would you leave them raw? It’s also needed to stabilise so it doesn’t just “flop”. I would not sew it wrong sides together abs flip it. It would be very flimsy.

Outstanding details on the jacket. Thank you.
That is a truly elegant jacket. Thanks for talking us through the process.
You’ve done such a good job with that jacket! It’s turned out so well. You’re such an inspiration 💐
What a high end finish you’ve achieved. A little bit of hand sewing is special. A lovely result.

Always super special. Greetings from SouthAfrica 🤍
Love, love, love your jacket! I would never have dreamed this up for the Coda Jacket. The makes I’ve seen have a casual vibe. You sew talented🇨🇦❤🥰

So perfect!
I was just looking for Chanel style jacket pattern in my stash yesterday because I want to make one too! How awesome!! I'll get this pattern 😊
That is gorgeous! I was thinking of a short straight bottom jacket without the collar! Looks like I'm going to get it!

I don’t know the context of your comment. This is a woven and I didn’t use a twin needle anywhere 🤷🏻♀️😀
LOL - this comment was supposed to be on another video but somehow I lost it. I wondered where it got to. No wonder you were confused! 💕
Thank you, Karina, for another wonderful video. It makes me want to try a lined jacket. I’ll have to start with an inlined first. I have a quilt that I made a few years ago that I will use for my first Coda.

Love this jacket!! The coda pattern was not on my list, but I may have to reconsider!!!

Thank you! Your jacket is beautiful! The 'modern' construction is very interesting.
No worries, I’ll do the old school way too 😀
You out did yourself with this pattern. Beautiful job!! I am definitely making one. I was curious how you added the bust dart.
I did a proper full bust adjustment. 1/2” to the pattern piece and that generated the dart.
Just Wow! Looks fabulous!
Lovely Jacket! I’m so happy you did this, I’ve been considering something similar.

❤️❤️❤️
LOVE this jacket! Do you mind sharing how wide your trim is?
It’s about 3/8”
Or 1cm
