- So, not everyone in the world of Avatar can shoot fire from their hands or create gusts of winds from thin air. Sometimes the characters could only fight with boring ol' non-bending. So let’s pit Freedom Fighter, Jet, against Kyoshi Warrior, Suki, in a good ol’ fashion fight.

Listening to this analysis, it occurs to me that Jet and Suki's fighting styles reflect the two major styles of earthbending. Jet has the modern tactic earthbenders we see in Earth Rumble or on the battlefield, attack and attack. Suki falls in line with Toph or Bumi's style of fighting, agility and patience. Just one more cultural thing the creators put in for the Earth Kingdom I guess.
They talked about neutral jing outside the context of fighting loads of times in the latest Kyoshi book. It was great.
Well... She is a Kyoshi Warrior which would mean they base their fighting style around Avatar Kyoshi's. She also uses a water bending technique: turn your opponent's energy against them😃

Suki will win this fight! She is way more flexible, can fight with many weapons and she could pull toph out of the water with her heavy „armour/clothes“ (really strong) (COMICS SPOILER): later she learned chi blocking easily by ty lee

Actually jet isn’t as adaptable as suki so if something goes wrong in a fight he wouldn’t be able to adapt as well

I think Suki would win. She is specialized in her fighting, whatever she uses. If you take away Jet’s weapons he would be less than before. Also, Jet would just be overwhelmed by Suki’s beauty 🌹🙃. Also i have some ideas for next video’s: Appa vs Naga, Bolin vs Earthbending Rumble 6 Squad, Zuko vs Sokka, but only swords, and Jinora vs Ikki AND Meelo.
Zuko vs. Sokka with swords already happened in one of the comics. Sokka kept losing over and over again against Zuko because Zuko had trained with the same master Sokka did except it was a long time ago.
Yeah I just checked and it was in the Lost Adventures and the comic was called Sword Bending.

You forgot that if you take away jets weapons and sukis weapons too suki will still win for her fast reflexes and would chi block him, and easily suki wins!
Jet in his debut episode wasn't all that impressive but the fact he went toe to toe with Zuko is sword fight is very telling. Zuko with just those swords was a challenge for Zhao's garnizon.

@@jamie-cx5vr Trees are kind of more of Jet's terrain due to his experience. Plus Aang was hesitating a lot to fight offensively.
@@Reality-Distortion true. But my point was that it's still plenty impressive. You need more than experience to move the way he does in the trees, you need strength. To be able to keep up with a master airbender in a place that clearly gives aang the advantage is very impressive, regardless.

Personally I believe his best feat is him going toe to toe with zuko (who was trained by piandao at a young age)

Suki would win in the duel. Suki can still last in long fights and is capable of chi-blocking. She is also the better hand-to-hand fighter. Even though Jet is better with swords, Suki can disarm him. Note: I believe Suki has better REACTION TIME (not going to explain why unless I am required to).

What everyone is neglecting is Jets disarming skills. Suki has 100% never come against hooked swords before and her shield can be easily hooked and stolen. Even if she managed to hold on, Jet would pull her into another slash from a different angle, which she wouldn't be able to avoid.
Also I don't see Suki getting on the inside, close enough to chi block Jet without getting sliced, honestly it would be impossible.
Jet holds the W here just because of his unorthodox fighting that Suki won't be able to figure out.
The only way jet can win is to simply overpower her quickly. If he cant she’ll eventually chi block him with her quick attacks and then the fight is over.

Tuwmaa muhammad at that time then jet probably would win. Suki would get some good hits in but without the chi blocking ability i dont think she would be able to win especially at that time. Suki had gotten stronger at around book three and it was at that time she got a lot more skill because like Antoine said before she was just acting as a cop of some kind but once she got some real experience that was when she became a real contender
Arthur Lin uhm, i dont think its fair to compare an older and better version of suki with a jet that’s now rotting in dirt, we don’t know how he would’ve improved if he was still alive.
tsuyu asui yes but right now we are comparing the characters at there best. We are ocmparing these characters when they were at their strongest. Jet died so this contest was already unfair but thats how this works.

Were it not for Sokka, Suki would have been toast in the very first episode she featured in.
Antoine Bandele youre right also if sokka never met her she nah have never gotten more fighting skills and would’ve prob lost to jet easily. But I just like sukis character a bit more than jet
@@OrionG Honestly I feel like a lot of comments boil down to liking her better. The main reason I think she wins is style match-up and more importantly, because she was present for a season and a few comics longer, so she got more feats and spotlight, but for the time they coexisted in the series Jet was either better (Season 1) or at least comparable, possibly better. (Season 2)

I feel Jet is just a bit (and I mean a bit) smarter than we think. I thought it was pretty mindful that Jet kept up with Aang and eventually found an opportunity to take him down and even disabled his glider. Also during the Dai Li fight he seemed pretty aware which we saw when he saved Toph and defended Longshot from Dai Li projectiles which many characters have struggled to even react to.
I guess it's just a shame he died because it definitely feels like while these 2 were both canonically alive Jet would've likely won. Especially assuming like most of the characters he improved over time.
Also if morals are intact Jet could just threaten to flood a village and Suki would just take the L.

Suki is the only one ever to go hand to hand combat with Ty Lee and be the closest in being evenly matched. I don’t see Jet having a chance against her.

OG Paul I think you’re underestimating Azulas martial ability. In the day of the black sun she was able to avoid Sokka Aang and Toph although they weren’t interested in fighting her. Also if you watch her fight scenes with Suki in the forest and her fight at the boiling rock she shows not just her fire bending abilities but her physical training too.
Jason he definitely has a chance but he would ultimately loose.

I agree Azula is definitely amongst the top 3 hand to hand combatants in the series(ty lee, suki, and azula).
I'd say it goes ty lee(her feats still scale above azula's, ty lee is simply to light on her feat, then suki and azula tie.
Azula and suki were Able to go at it for a decent exchange yes suki was defeated but suki was still able to hang.
Then season 3 suki was on par with ty lee who scales above azula in hand to hand combat, i see suki and azula being fairly even in throwing hands.
Comics aren't being included if so azula is second if not first for sure.
I have been waiting a long time for this video and my gess is that suki wins but we will see

In a weapons fight I’ll say Jet but in hand to hand Suki by a mile the thing that’s tough tho is that Suki (even with the weapons) don’t have the arm range that jet has so he could keep a mid range distance with the swords n attack but the moment Suki disarms him it’s over

I really missed these videos. They're so detail oriented but also take into consideration that concepts and themes at play in the characters.
I also enjoyed the fight animation. It's new, and possibly incomplete?, but it made following your arguments much easier, and generally entertaining, especially since there isn't any footage of Jet and Suki meeting or fighting each other.
At my channel's current size, an animatic like that is likely all I can afford... but better than nothing! I really like that you hone on "take into consideration that concepts and themes at play in the characters." I think a lot of VS don't take this into consideration a lot of the time.

Hey! Great video, it was very interesting watch your analisis I like it a lot :D
And just for add something about the fight analisis and because I´m an aikido practitioner, I can tell: The easiest oponents are the ones that attack with brute force, that go head first, the impatient ones and of course, the sword fighters XD (aikido was created to protect a person against bigger oponents or armed ones, specially with swords or blades).
And I have thrown out oponen that were 1.92 mts (I´m 1.61 mts tall), and way heavier than myself tecnique, patience, practice and experience means a lot.
I agree with your outcome, Jet has a lot of strenght, skill and endurance, but his lack of flexibility by adapting yourself to your oponent and his rash way of attack and thing is what makes him loose.

Jet is situational because he lacks a solid combat experience so he use environment and wittyness(or wityness, I don't know) to win. Suki is a solid combatan warrior and also ready to face anything (almost anything) where she go. So I will go for suki
The Kyoshi warriors had no combat experience they left the island to help the EK.

This fight would be a lot like when Darth Zannah duels Set Harth in _Darth Bane: Dynasty of Evil,_ with Suki standing in for Zannah and Jet for Set. While there is a major difference or two, the outcome is the same.
Both Jets fights with Aang and Zuko where when he was emotionally heightened so while he was fierce, both those fights he was fighting for a cause, so maybe he was more brash due to that. In the fights with the Fire nation and the Dai Li, he was more in tuned to his surroundings, and more in tuned with the people he was fighting with. I think Jet is a better group fighter and while Suki also is a uniformed fighter with the Kyoshi warriors, she has proven to be a better solo fighter than Jet.This video was good, great job!

Who would win Freedom Fighters or Sukis group ? I am thinking FF they have their own feats and styles, the other warriors are just Suki but not as good and the teamwork in Ba Sing Se seemed better than the Azula battle.
We also have to keep in mind that when Suki was facing Ty Lee there wasn’t much space and in basically all of Ty Lee’s fight scenes she uses soooo much space

A clash between the two most underrated non-benders in all of Avatar. IMO, it would've been great if Jet and Suki got a bit more screen time in the show, just so they could have more definitive feats under their belts.

Suki 100%. Even Ty Lee, who would most definitely wreck Jet in 10 seconds tops, had a hard time beating her and they tied.
I agree with your outcome, which I wouldn't state here so as not to spoil anything. But my preferred character won.
You brought up some points I hadn't considered (lightning dodging, keeping up with Aang, saving Toph as an endurance test).
Theres also some things I'd have considered that I don't think you did. Jet has a mind for long term strategy, but that does require using his allies (Longshot especially) to compensate for his flaws. Suki in her full garb is slightly handicapped on mobility by the legs being connected, but she could just cut that layer off. Also, against Azula, her objective wasn't to win the fight, but to protect a target, which she did handily, including by adapting to knowledge she just learned mid-battle (Appa's fear of fire) and adding it to her arsenal. I'd argue she is capable of creating a shot, but if it's creating offense, she's definitely a pass first point guard.
I really want to know how she was able to not only capture an Airship, but steer it from the outside.

Great video also good small animation would like to see it again also agree that suki would win in majority of battles only way I see jet winning is if he hits her hard during early fight or suki makes mistake by over extending herself like she did with azula also I agree that ty lee vs jet would have been one sided fight in ty lee's favor look forward to next and possibly next small animation fight have great year.
Dunno if this counts, but Mai wanted to have Suki and the kyoshi warriors to protect zuko cause she considered them to be great fighters

yes, the reason Suki can contends with so many fighters (Ty Lee, The Warden, etc.) is because of her ability to size up her opponents and look for an opening, and if you put that together with her incredible stamina and experience with one-on-one dojo fights (where as Jet is more suited for large scale battles and skirmishes), Suki is the clear victor.
