It’s because he’s from Hamilton Ontario. We have nice accents. Lol. Southern Ontario Canadian accents are a little nicer than other parts of Canada if I do say so myself lol

he's such an underrated actor. he performs Lenny Bruce in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel brilliantly. he steals the show. producers/production companies should give him more good important roles. also, he's desperately goodlooking. his smile sends me to orbit 😍

I found myself wanting to see Luke as Lenny in every scene, even though I knew that he couldn’t be. I actually missed him at times. That’s how you know a great portrayal. I was wondering when he and Midge would hookup!

Without the lack of range and annoying outbursts of over acting. Andrew Scott is so monotone.
Midge and Lenny would be the power couple of Comedy. It would be the greatest on screen relationship ever.
What could have been a one-note performance instead became a viewer obsession. He brings so much to the Lenny Bruce role, and I"m all for the producers doing a full Once Upon A Time In Hollywood job on our past reality and just pairing Midge and Lenny up and taking that dynamic through in to the seventies.

@Kiki I think you missed the point there. Spoiler alert, but Once Upon A Time In Hollywood end with the Charles Manson murders having been thwarted and Sharon Tate alive and well. That’s what the previous comment means, that the poster would be happy with the producers of MMM rewriting history in a similar way and keeping Lenny alive.

The show plays down his looks! I love him as Lenny Bruce he brings an unexpected sweetness to Lenny Bruce that I certainly never appreciated within the Lenny Bruce mythology. That scene between Lenny and Midge at the hotel just crushed me it was so sweet and so heart wrenching at the same time. He's earned that Emmy and I hope he gets it! Here's hoping he breaks a leg often during the course of his life as I'm curious to see what he does next!
Absolutely! But that line at his hotel has me feeling bad news...he died in real life in 66, and that's about where they are now in the show 😞 that line of "someday before I die" made my heart drop
that scene crushed me too, I've watched it multiple times. it was so so beautiful.

@@megancrager4397 it's the end of season 4 rn, and it's still 1960 so there's a long time before his death.. actually they're taking it a year on every season till now, so it doesn't seem likely we'll get to it, unless maybe in the final episode they show how everyone turned out after many years or sth, which probably would mean that Midge and him didn't stick together and she hears about his death while she's moved on ?🤔, idk...
@@yvonneshanson1525 They won't stick together. I think they will play Lenny's death into the show. The show is loosly based on Joan Rivers who was very close friends with Lenny. I don't even nkow about the "loosely based".. because it's almost an exact portrayal of Joan's life.

@@aNa-oo1xb during his obscenity trial, they asked a famous journalist who was known for being a prude, why she gave him favorable reviews and if she agrees with his over-usage of profanity. She then says that she thinks that like Baldwin and Williams, Bruce had the right to use those words to emphasize something or to set up a scene in which this persona would use those words. This was a famous thing that was said, so the writers probably thought it'd be funny to have Tennessee and Lenny just have a brief moment of bickering and cursing. I believe Lenny made a joke about Tennessee's homosexuality as well, but it wasn't too harsh, if I remember correctly.

Mr. Kirby brings a kindness and a soul to Lenny Bruce. Bruce was much more than “foul mouthed comedian “. He was genius and Mr. Kirby is brilliant!

Luke Kirby veritably channeled Lenny Bruce, And is quite something as Luke Kirby as well! Glad he won the Emmy.
Luke stood out in this role above all others *because he absolutely played a person and not an icon... he's beautiful.
did anyone else notice the start difference of his reaction in listening to his performance as Lenny (5:24) and an actual snippet of Lenny Bruce? (15:12) its incredible how his face lights up when Lenny starts talking.
My late husband met Mr. Bruce one night in a bar in California. It was a great memory for him. As for me, I keep thinking of one small scene in this latest season of TMMM, where he wakes up after a rough night. I kept re-watching that scene, with such subtleties of movement. I was thinking that it was like peeking into someone's life, rather than a scene being acted! What talent.

Lord I fell for him so badly on this show, I literally forgot he wasn’t Lenny!
He captured the pathos of Bruce that lay just under the surface that I suspect most people missed.
(Although watching this the casting job was easy, spooky resemblance in appearance and persona.)

A class act. To my mind, a true gentleman, uncool to some- not to me, for Luke to keep Kitty, Lenny's daughter in mind! Here after finishing season 4, ep 8. He & Rachel end the season with an outstanding scene after Lenny’s gig, moreso Luke’s delivery. 👏🏼 He ought to get nominated for this performance. His character’s comedic pace helps calm & ground the rest of the cast’s loud & fast-paced dialog (stressful for me at times). Great work to the entire TMMM production! 🤌🏼

He is like a mix of Andrew Scott and Mark Ruffalo. I like his real accent but I ADORE the one he does in The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. However, Andrew Scott's voice and irish accent is a masterpiece on its own. I could listen to him talking on and on and never get bored.
Even though he's sat there, with Nike shoes, pants and a t-shirt (and an earring), on RUclips, my mind is still having trouble separating him from Lenny Bruce. It's a sensation not unlike waking up from a vivid dream

Brilliant actor portraying Lenny Bruce. Have to mention his natural humor, charm, and mellowness comes through out of the role tho. Voice of a top asmrist too.

I think Kirby has characteristics of Bruce in that he is a sensitive man. A thoughtful person and he believes in himself but also knows how humans can exaggerate.
What gets me is how the director or casting director can see that in a person before the show.

I'm here because I just watched Mambo Italiano for the first time. That movie was freakin hilarious! From the amazing cast to the story line and dialog, it was a really good movie. I think Luke just gained another fan. I'm now going to try and watch more of his work. He seems like a good actor.

I’ve loved Luke Kirby since seeing Mambo Italiano and everything since…. And He’s aged like a fine wine and I love that he’s getting all this well deserved recognition for his acting (and let’s not forget how incredibly handsome he is)
Just finished the Mrs Maisal ‘show’. All the actors are great in it, but this guy was awesome. Surprisingly at least in this interview mannerisms much like his Lenny too. Uber Cool. Hope it’s back for a 5th, and this guy gets more gigs 🤟🚬😎
One of the best shows I’ve seen! I thought it was about some crazy detective so I kept skipping over it 🙀I’ve been bind watching!! I love Luke as Lenny. I love the relationship between Lenny and Midge. I don’t want the show to end. I’ve started doing standup in my head with great deliveries…lol. LOVE LOVE LOVE ❤️
