When I watched this scene for the first time, I surprisingly teared up. I am such a sucker for scenes like this, because it is so real, blunt, and vulnerable. Up until this point, Lenny has had his cool facade and charming flirtation/banter with Midge. But in this season, and this scene especially, we see a realer side to Lenny Bruce. I never thought we'd see him get this angry and emotional towards Midge. He really cares. And again, it's just cool to see him past his "cool front" and see a more real side to this character. I really look forward to the scenes between these two, and can't wait for the final season. Usually, when characters finally hook up, it ruins that tension. But these two, still shine bright, even after *that* scene. I find that really cool because it is rare. These actors really have a rare chemistry that I feel like a lot of people don't even know about because for some reason, a lot of people still haven't seen this show. Anyways, love this scene. It was my favorite of the season forsure :)
This scene and the one with Abe reading Moishe's obituary had me leaking. Such good acting! Some people say they didn't like the focus of this season, but I just love it. From season 1-4, I kept watching how the lives of Midge, her family, and friends changed and went through highs and lows. Can't wait for season 5 and the mystery of Mei's family lol.
I think the only way to maintain that chemistry is by not sleeping together again.
Yes this and then the way he spoke to her before they slept together was pretty amazing too
I rewatched from season 1 and I noticed how early Lenny appeared in the show and my romantic self believed that it was subtly hinted they would be together. I loved how it showed an interaction between Lenny, Midge and Joel, then with Midge and -Dr Tall, handsome and rich- Benjamin. My heart fluttered every time he appeared and interacted with her in those dates.
Damn, well said. When he told her it would break his heart, God I felt that. The acting here was on another level.
My God. Luke Kirby killed that stand up routine. What a tribute to Lenny. I can't believe we only get one more season of this!
it's the best thing we've had since mad men.
and we only get 2 episodes with his character of Lenny ...........damn them I hope he gets more than a few minutes !!!
This scene could have been an Emmy nomination for Luke Kirby too…
I thought so too. I wish!
Luke Kirby was ROBBED.
Luke Kirby deserved a nomination and a win for this scene.
hell it could have even been an oscar, but the oscars are rigged asf
OK I knew I had a crush on Luke Kirby but i did not expect my heart to actually skip a beat when his face first appeared on this video.
Luke Kirby is SO god damn brilliant as Lenny Bruce. Right from his first scene in the first episode...I wanted to see more of this guy x
That scene was by far the best scene of the whole entire run of the show. The cadence, the anger and frustration in both of the actors, the cinematography... everything was just a near damn perfect storm. It culminated into one masterpiece! I was in awe watching this scene!
This scene is genius. The universe throws your soul mate into your face and once all the schmalz is over, you have to fight to hang on to that person, to not let that person fail. Genius. Real life. Bravo.
Love ur perspective on how u said that
This
I still can't believe that Luke Kirby was robbed of an Emmy nomination for this scene only.
Without question he deserved it. It is a masterclass in acting/reacting.
This is the most re- watchable series ever. I usually rewind scenes because I was laughing too much and thought I missed something, they spoke really fast and didn't want miss anything, and then there are things going on in the background. It's amazing. So perfect
True
Community is the same way- I’m still catching jokes 5 rewatches in
Amy Sherman-Palladino and Alex Borstein look so much alike they could be sisters. (And yes, I know, that is Rachel Brosnahan with her in this video, but her resemblance to Alex is striking.)
This was an incredible episode of television. Luke, Rachel and ASP were on fire.
Lenny Bruce makes my heart melts
Luke Kirby's perfomance is incredible
Petition to have Luke Kirby do a movie biopic of Lenny Bruce.
This scene is epic and so well performed... You can feel all the heart they two put in it ❤
Luke Kirby was so robbed of an Emmy. Last episode was amazing. I’m really rooting for Midge to get over herself and go after her big break!🙏🏽
This scene gave me chills! It was so momentous for their relationship!! Lenny delivered
Luke Kirby is a force to be reckon with! Top notch actor! But if they go along with history, unfortunately Mr Bruce ODS & passed away at a young age.
The whole story line with the Tony Bennett & Lenny going out of his way to help midge, compassion there! My PopPop Ben LOVED Tony Bennett & we are naming our first born Bennett, after him!
Except that on the show it is only 1960 and Lenny dies years later. I am sure Lenny will still be alive when the series ends. Luke Kirby gave one of the most amazing performances I have ever seen in this episode.
i loved this scene so much. it is such a wonderful, conflicted argument, full of anger and love and annoyance and desperation. and luke kirby was so fabulous in it, as he always is!! i await the final season with bated breath. :-)
A wonderful scene, not only in the stellar acting but the camera movement as well as the staging in an empty hall.
I absolutely adore the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel! The writing, the incredible acting, the sets, the costumes!!!! It all transports you to another time, another place and the crazy life of Midge and the rest of the very talented cast. It’s all just simply perfect!!!
Luke Kirby is absolutely phenomenal
Let me just say, Luke Kirby, you are a wonder and are so amazing...and it's so beautiful to hear how this scene came to be. It's truly something. And I love all these people's work in making it what it is. I feel like I wanna go listen to it every few months when I need a kick up the butt to just go out and do the things and get out of my comfort zone.
This scene was a whole masterpiece. I was captivated the whole time
This was hands down the best scene from the entire series (with Susie's speech at Jackie's funeral a close second!). Luke Kirby was electrifying.
Such an exceptional show - and
a particularly amazing scene.
Just an amazing well written, well acted talented cast.
I can’t rave about this show enough! Applause 👏🏽 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Have watched this series over & over.
I can’t believe we only
Get one more season? Please please do more 🙏🏽
This scene was brilliant ... I keep coming back to it and it is just seriously good on so many levels.
This show is one of my all time favourites. I cant wait for the final season i hope its going to great
I dont think it was a fight, it was Bruce telling Midge to stop being a baby, because he cares so much about her and wants her to succeed, and imo he broke the 4th wall this whole time because hes saying exactly what the viewers are thinking.
Grateful to have this content, thanks for everything but especially for this marvelous show. It amazes me everytime...
Thanks, Rachel! Thanks, Luke! Thanks, Amy! Thanks, Variety! 🎬
Love you guys do much. Midge & Lenny 💘
My favourite TV show along with The Man in the High Castle.
Really interested to see how Lenny’s story will pan out. He passed away from an overdose 5 years after his Carnegie show. Wonder if they’re going to start showing this side of him more…
this is great! Wonderful scene. It’s such a shame the series is gonna be over :-(
I hope in the new season they take a page from “Once upon a time in Hollywood” and give Lenny the happy ending he deserved.
I loved, loved, loved The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I am watching it a second time, will definitely watch more times. It’s great entertainment!
Def shed a tear on this scene
I love her hats! I recently described the perfect hat to a friend and this was it. If only I could get away with it in Indiana…
These two break my heart because I get where they are both coming from and ugh... I want to root for them together...but I feel like it will become an amicable friendship with what it started with, mutual respect.
From Cast To Extras.. AMAZING
My husband watched all 4 seasons but I got in board late and just watched 4 seasons in 2 months! Sooo excited for season 5 and sooooo sad this is it. Can’t decided my favorite character as they are all sooo fantastic!
This scene...this show. The Best.
The best scene of the season!
This and the Blue Room scene.
Luke Kirby has very sad, wise eyes.
i quite literally have the entirety of that fight memorized and will walk through grocery stores listening to the scene on youtube with headphones in reciting it under my mask
Love these guys!
Love the show.
Wonderful ensemble ….so we’ll done!
Love this show
That wasnt a big fight… he was helping her
"Just don't" like in the paper she open in season 5!
I have questions about Amy’s hat…
That’s been her signature look since Gilmore girls days at least, probably longer. Don’t think it’s going anywhere.
thank you, scrolling through comments sure that someone else would've asked first ... : ) I'm so distracted by it!
@@madeleine6749 what is the white powdery looking stuff?
This hat has a story and I want to hear it
Luke does such a good job as linney, he and Rachel have great chemistry.
Dude Lenny and midge. OH AND LUKE ❤ lol
Midgelenny endgame
She should have taken his advice
The ending suggests she will.
sooooo good
0:25 working with people who are older than i am. taking the time either with words or actions to tell me how it be like
does this mean a new season is coming out ? ive been waiting
There will be a fifth and final season coming out, but a date hasn't been released.
april 14th
When is Season 5 starting?
❤️
Be present in the moment....Be present and discover things on the stage...you have to be there in the room with another actor.
I think the pigeons attacked that hat…
WHY does she wear those silly mad hatter hats? Such forced eccentricity.
She was attacked by pigeons…?
Big Reveal: Lenny Bruce DIES
So that's Carnegie Hall? I'm not really impressed.
Have you ever been to a show at Carnegie Hall? Like walked in and saw how monstrous it was?
I stopped watching because of the language. It was just too much and unnecessary.
What language?
What are you talking about?
People curse. Stop being so delicate.
My rule is as long as your aren't cursing someone else out then a bad word really isn't bad. It's just a word. And too mich meaning and power is given to curse words. It's a shame that all you see and take are the curse words and that that blocks you from the overall amazingness of this show. Really too bad.
