Yes! Every single second he is on screen is so important, I’m never more alert. I literally feel him approaching seconds before he appears. Amy Sherman Paladino did almost the exact same thing with Jess on Gilmore Girls.
Honestly the only other thing that stands close in my mind is “You came” “You called” That’s from another show, but it’s in next place for next TV exchange
They've handled this so well...we all know it can't be "happily ever after" for them, but having him play such an important role in her journey, while satisfying us with a taste of their chemistry, is just perfection.
same. this and fleabag. but i cant believe its coming to an end. their chemistry is truly the best ever on tv idc what ppl say they can fight me lol ive seen almost every romantic pairing on tv and theyre THE BEST
to whoever has not seen this show- listen. I know this is TV, but I find it to be important and impactful, and let me just say, that out of all the shows I've watched (so many probably way too much) this is the best chemistry I've seen. A close tie is fleabag (priest and fleabag! if you know you know). Rachel Brosnahan and Luke Kirby have the kind of chemistry I have always thought of and yearned for- and then to see them have that on TV and then some is just such a special, rare thing. The writers are top notch, but it feels sort of like fate that everything lined up the way they did. This is one of the few times I have ever felt this sad over a show ending because that means there won't be anymore scenes between those two actors, not with these characters in this world. I really look forward to the next time a show has chemistry between two people in this way- and I hope I get that soon, if at all. Lol yup, they're that special. I feel like many fans feel the same way I do, as cringy as this comment might sound. Wow, I am not ready for Lenny and Midge's last scene :(
The character growth on Lenny is so beautifully written. They were always there for each other considering they never actually dated or anything. The sexual tension is so amazingly believable and loving
Honestly, the writers and producers kind of screwed themselves over, casting Luke as Lenny. Too charismatic for his own good. Why couldn't he just be Benny Luce?
Unfortunately because Lenny Bruce OD'ed in real life, I think they will give Midge a cleaner ending. But the chemistry between Luke Kirby and Rachel Brosnahan is without question.
@@AM-lp5ux True. Guess they didn't expect their chemistry would be this good and that the fans would love them. I'm okay with them not ending together as long as she doesn't end back with Joel.
3:47 this right here, this is when he falls in love with her. I see it on his face. She finishes her set, jumps into his arms, and it's all over for him.
I think one of the real reasons why they didn’t end up together is because this guy is playing a real person and Lenny Bruce died in 1966 so if they wanted to stick it to the timeline, even though they had a made up love that’s probably why
What happened next? Well Midge decided Lenny was right and got down to work. Lenny nearly died of an overdose and it was the wake up call he needed to get sober. He and Midge made up, confessed they were madly and deeply in love, and lived happily ever after, dying in their 90s surrounded by their children and grandchildren. The end. That's what happened in season 5 right?
Lenny is the best character in the whole show. Even though he only makes rare appearances and he doesn’t even say that much. The actor that portrays him is so smooth, natural and funny. His chemistry with Midge is simultaneously super subtle, and totally off the charts! It’s like these two were long lost best friends the moment they met. It’s even so freakin’ funny that the officer arresting her sarcastically introduces him and as her, “friend in the back seat.” This was freaken’ amazing foreshadowing. Whoever wrote that line did not get paid enough. The line was hysterical, it was delivered with so much satire, and there is something so funny about the cop arresting two comedians in a comedy about comedians, also being such a comedian while both arresting them and introducing them. This was such an amazing way to introduce both Midge and the audience to the best character in the show. The line was also great because it was both literal and metaphorical. He was her friend who was literally in the back seat (of a cop car!) with her, but he also became a “back seat,” friend in her life. Except for Susie, no one else knew that she friends him. Sure a few other people knew they were acquaintances, but only Susie knew they had a special connection. So a friend in the back seat, was a good description of her relationship with this guy.
Thank you for this but how could you not include the club scenes from Florida? Those were my favourite! They have the best chemistry, right from the start. They break my heart. And I will miss them.
I suspect this season will begin to document Lenny’s decline into substance misuse issues and Midge’s inevitable disappointment. And finally mourn his death if there is a time jump.
Just reminded of this tv prog.... by Tom Hanks punchline,... Its brilliant have seen it before......my son in America put me on to it..... The chemistry of actors is crucial......
they should have given these two much more screen time they are brilliant & Lenny Bruce should have had a happier life on this show....you left out the dance scene !!! why ??? it was so hot
PLEASE PRIME, PRODUCTION IN USA: make Rachel Brosnahan & Luke Kirby WORK TOGETHER AGAIN!!!!!!!! THEY ARE MARVELOUS !!!! THEIR CHEMISTRY ON STAGE IS SPOT ON!!!!!! And this time make the couple last!!! 😅😍🤪
I just adore this show! 🥹 I’m rewatching it again at the moment, and I’m falling for Lenny all over again. 🫠💔 I love their chemistry, from their first scene to their last. Just perfect. 👏🏻
Season 5 was painfully messy! I'd watch again except the last season, so many horrible acts/singing, not funny, so many new characters without story, I hated those fat ugly guys in the writers room. Only the last episode was enough for the storyline to end the series

He did quickly become her friend, he was literally in the back seat (of a freakin’ cop car!), but he was also a friend in the “back seat,” of her life at the time. She kept this part of her life a secret, and no one in her life, accept for Suzie, knew about her connection with Lenny. While Suzie was also a secret friend, Suzie became a front and center best friend in her life, and to the audience, Lenny she only saw on occasion. So “friend in the backseat.” Describes him perfectly! Also it shows Midge meeting him in the worst moment of her life. This was a moment that she really needed a friend. And the fact that they were in the back of a cop car together also symbolizes that they are in this together. He is going to be there for her through this rough ride in her life, while he is also. going through a rough ride in his.
I like how Lenny is only peppered in throughout the seasons, makes his appearances that much more impactful and makes me crave them even more!
Yes! Every single second he is on screen is so important, I’m never more alert. I literally feel him approaching seconds before he appears. Amy Sherman Paladino did almost the exact same thing with Jess on Gilmore Girls.
Easily the best exchange on TV ever:
"You paid attention."
"To you? Always."
Gets me every time.
Nothing more seductive than a man who listens to you...REALLY listens.
Honestly the only other thing that stands close in my mind is
“You came”
“You called”
That’s from another show, but it’s in next place for next TV exchange
I love knowing that Lenny being a love interest wasn’t intended. Their chemistry was just to fiery

These two actors are so talented and have amazing chemistry together. This show has been such a treat.
How did they leave that fantastic dance sequence out of this timeline
Yes! Plus them staring at each other before the dance. That was perfection.
Probably rights to use the music that's playing in that scene.
no tv romance has ever had a grip on me like this one
same. this and fleabag. but i cant believe its coming to an end. their chemistry is truly the best ever on tv idc what ppl say they can fight me lol ive seen almost every romantic pairing on tv and theyre THE BEST
@@an-qo6by omg yes - this is definitely on par with the hot priest
I need a fan to do a proper version of this timeline, with every dialogue ever exchanged between the two. And all the way up until the finale.
Lenny is her soulmate and Joel is the love of her life.
I just got chills over this comment! You are so right! Put so perfectly!
Susie is her soulmate and the love of her life❤
😂❤

lenny and Midge are soooo real and
Vivid that the writer doesn't even have to think "what will happen next",the characters are just there
Best ideal couple of the series. Their chemistry is unreal
He looks better every season … ❤
Oof. Their chemistry is amazing. One of my favorite series of all time, and I wish more people watched.
They're the best ❤️ we love them so much too 👀
How could you NOT include the scene at the club, with them flirting and dancing?!?
Honestly, the writers and producers kind of screwed themselves over, casting Luke as Lenny. Too charismatic for his own good. Why couldn't he just be Benny Luce?
hes my fave part of the shooow
I love how the timeing of the show is always frenetic except in the scenes where Lenny Bruce appears, it gives a feeling of peace 🌸
I'm terribly scared that the last season will be very disappointing... Lenny and Midge deserved much more😔
Unfortunately because Lenny Bruce OD'ed in real life, I think they will give Midge a cleaner ending. But the chemistry between Luke Kirby and Rachel Brosnahan is without question.

Lenny was my favorite part of the show and still is. he's just so fantastic
I hated when this show ended it was so good 💕 you did all of this for me ♥️
5.29 Goodbye
In Lenny's language: get away from my girl

Lenny’s the embodiment of your detached, selfless love for me - he’s the you that’s there/not there while I get well enough to love you. 😢😢😢😊
Thank you for this but how could you not include the club scenes from Florida? Those were my favourite! They have the best chemistry, right from the start. They break my heart. And I will miss them.
You paid Attention.
To you.... Always.
No matter how high that person wall is up after that line they would fall.
You didn’t show the Miami dance, or the kiss in the hotel! Luke Kirby was so great in this role. His chemistry with Rachel was ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Damn, so much chemistry between the two 😂😂

the release of this has got to be preparing us for the worst or them ending up together ion knoooow
sad this show cant go on for at least 2-3 more seasons :(
Better to end on a high note than drag it out with bad writing
Lenny Bruce was a real person. He died fairly young. Midge Maisel was a fictional person, she wasn't real. Just an FYI for those who may not know. 😊
eu sou tão obcecada por esse dois que minha decisão final só dependeu deles, e eu chorei, chorei muito.
How is the dancing scene missing?
