Lovely review! Beautiful looking watch too. Not too big and not too small! Killer strap. Add up cost of buying alternative strap and cost begins to level out.
They have an updated version on kickstarter now with gemstone dials. Super limited, only 9 of each color. Thanks for letting us know about this brand. I'm a D&D nerd, so this theme is very much my jam.
Fantastic review John, and I agree with you 100%. Absolutely lovely piece, but the play on the bezel is excessive. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Be well. Cheers.
Thanks Felo. I like to mix content up a bit and it's good because more watch brands are messaging me...some of course are politely declined but I liked the detail on this one :)
Great review! It’s nice to see something so unique and passion-filled like this coming out. Like you, this is not a watch for me, but I respect the vision and attention to detail they put into this watch. Hats off to the Valimor team.
Hi Harvind. It has really surprised me. The strap is possibly the most comfortable I have ever worn. Wraps around your wrist like a warm tentacle! So much ornateness too. Thanks for popping by ;)
I ordered this one. I wanted the blue but they were already sold out. This one also looks great. I ordered it with the steel bracelet. Thanks for the review
Very nice and fitting touch at the end :)) I wouldn't wear it, but I find it extremely well executed, it carries passion and intention in the design, I respect that a lot. I hope they'll have their success.
Another good review of a nicely made watch . There's another review of this watch on Zaltek Reviews channel i left a comment on his video mentioning your review so hopefully you'll both get some extra views or subs .
Hi Darren I'm so glad you and a lot of my subscribers are taking the time to look at this one. Usually, if it's not an AliExpress special, it is difficult to garner attention. Watches like these are essential for the survival of our hobby. This is untamed and it took tons of effort and talent to bring forth. Thanks for watching my friend :)
very marmite watch , and not my cup of tea, but the attention to detail is pretty spectacular. Hats off to them for going for something that is so different. I guess there will be plenty of people who love the look and will buy it. great review
Great review, I really like the hands and dial and the way the domed crystal flows into the bezel shows a lot of thought too. The crown is a little too much and the watch is far too thick. I'm glad it exists, but I don't think I would wear it.
Great to hear your thoughts. It seems everyone appreciates this watch for what it is : a very niche watch that is not for everyone...me included. I do appreciate it though. Thanks for your informed comments as per usual. Glad you took the time to watch the vid ;)
Not quite for me, and I used to be massive fantasy fan when I was younger. That finishing is far beyond what I was expecting though. Thanks for the thorough review!
How did they missed the chance to have a chain mail or dragon scale bracelet?! Also the lack of some distinct pip or other indication at 60 on the bezel would prove annoying. Aside from that its an interesting watch that shows loads of creativity. I'm curious where they might go with this. The attention to detail is rather impressive.
They do have a beautiful bracelet, it's just that I was not important enough to get one haha. It is impressive. See other reviews! I think for the price they did exceptionally well :)
@@johnswatchjoint I had to check out their website to see the bracelet, its kind of neat but I think they could have pushed the theme further with it. In any case id like to see what they dream up next? Perhaps a Beowulf themed chronograph? ;)
It wasn't for me at the end of the day but the quality of finishing and the attention to detail was impressive. I'm sure they will contact me when their next Release is due...hope I'm still around hahaha!
I think all your points are valid especially the bezel issues, would the bezel put me off? well at the price they are asking yes but if it were a bit more keenly priced I would probably get one. As yours was basicaly a gift I would be over the moon, no doubt it would impress Daenerys Targaryen. Enjoy it for what it is, a very nice Watch.
Shows you how much I know about these things! I had to look the name up. Game of Thrones. I have never watched it. It is very ornate and I appreciate how it has been done :)
The whole watch and how its presented look like an item from a comic book store. This isn't to say it's not a serious watch with decent specs. No issues with the Miyota 8 series movements when they have hacking at least. They're better looking than the Seiko NH movements, they're slimmer and their timekeeping is more consistent as well.
Hi Alex. I was worried about that too but once I had this in hand and saw the craftsmanship and the higher level of finishing I changed my mind . It is a serious, albeit a niche watch. The fact that my subs have taken the time to watch it says something. Most of the comments have been supportive.
Very nice looking watch but as soon as I saw the second hsnd stuttering between 12 & 6 I gueseed Miyota 8 series straight away before you even mentioned it. I HATE those indirect driven movements, manufacturers only use them because they're cheap so how much more woukd it have been to use a Seiko NH35A instead? Very little I would suggest but they've spoilt what could have had me contemplating a purchase into saying 'no thank you not with that movement', especially with the back play in the bexel and at too steep a price for what it is.
Sorry but you possibly did not see that this is the upgraded 8315 movement and I rate these more highly than the NH35. This is hacking and hand winding with 60 hours of power reserve. Perhaps the stuttering you saw was an edit of mine? I have used the 8203 and 8204 movements for years in Citizen Promasters. They consistently outperform Seiko movements. Just my long term experience.
Interesting. The fantasy theme isn't really down my ally, but I like seeing real originality from micro-brands. If I had more disposable income I'd consider it, but I'm not sure it would get much wrist time. Quite a bit of distortion with that crystal (single dome?) which I actually like. It's an "Arthurian Time Gem". I'm sorry to hear about the bezel. When I heard "60 click", I was hoping it would be similar to my Citizen Eco-Drive BN0150-28E diver. It has a VERY tight, smooth, safe door like quality that really shines.
Except that on their website, they have lots of models but only two that aren’t discontinued. Why are all of their models discontinued? My guess - they’re headed out of business.
Absolutely not. They manufacture small batches of each line and then make a new line of watches. If you look on their site you will see they have had three previous models that all sold out. Completely the opposite of your assumptions. When I posted the video, they still had four colours in stock so they are selling fast :)
@@johnswatchjoint I think the texture and colour is attractive and that the layout is well balanced. I think my son would like it. He's got a pocket watch with the Witcher logo embossed on it that he picked up from a comicon. I think this watch might appeal to people who are into that alternative/gothic/fantasy scene who can compliment it with their clothing. Or maybe women who aren't into dainty pink things. It looks well executed. I would change the strap for a nice leather one though.
@@johnswatchjoint We're all entitled to our opinion and they should all be respected. We're all different. Wow, fantastic review. This channel deserves way more than 10k subs. Really well done, man.
Thank you....I agree so spread the word my friend 🤗
Kudos to them for stepping out and making something unique
Hi Tom. I couldn't agree more :)
That's a very interesting watch. 4 of the styles sold out now. Good review!

Thank you so much mate for finding this brand. I will keep an eye out fot them. Love the Caliburnus II - Flame Opal but its discontinued.
Thanks for watching...I'm glad they reached out to me. Not my style but so much hard work has gone into it.

Nicely said. I hope so too :)
I am loving the details on mine. That rotor keeps grabbing my attention

Thanks for that. This is the kind of watch that is a back burner!
No worries. I'm not sure I'm sold on the dragon sword thing but appreciate something well done. Other than the bezel that's a lot of play.
Excellent review of an attractive watch. It gains points for originality and is certainly striking, but like others that have commented, not for me.
Thanks for watching :)
I love this watch, everything about it appeals to me.cheers John great watch brilliant review.

That’s surprisingly a cool watch! I’m a little too much into the decorated rotor as well…

Hi buddy. Thanks for dropping by. I completely understand your thoughts :)
It’s a handsome beastie although I’d have preferred it without the bezel. Case back back is lovely too. Nice watch for a goth type but not for me.
Me likewise Graham but there is no doubting the amount of time and effort that has been put into this. The case finishing is awesome :)
Neat concept. The whole package is very well done and being a fan of lotr and the like I'd definitely look at buying one.
Aha...finally someone who would like one. To be serious it is phenomenally well put together. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment :)
