Having achieved this in this setup over the Internet during Covid period is simply insane, look what luxury brands have launched during the same period, nothing; and this guys designed, coordinated, built something totally new is simply to be applauded
There is nothing new or original about that watch. It is boring and generic.

I’m not surprised that Bill was able to get this accomplished. I remember when his channel first started. Something about his organizational and research skills struck me as unique for a “random” watch RUclips channel. Now I’m seeing those skills manifested into the creation of a watch from all the right people. What a cool story!
I don't know that I'd call $10K "crazy cheap" but, man, that is seriously beautiful.

For a hand beveled, hand finished movement 10k is cheap. Rolex doesn’t finish their watches to this level, nor does any other brand in this price category.
I like the fact it carries the signatures of all the parts suppliers. Everyone gets credit.

The No 2 was way over-subscribed and I'm looking forward to seeing it.Herding the cats was a fine achievement by the Professor and much more interesting than just going into an AD.
The companies behind these components are incredible. Voutilainen watches routinely sell for $100k+. Metalem dials found in the Simplicity by the greatest watchmaker of the 20th century Mr. Dufour whose watches sell for $400k+ at auction. And Agenhor who has won 9 GPHG awards for their movements!
No, I wouldn't. But bloody hell, I know about Agenhor now. I just looked them up and was amazed.
Bill Sanders really knows his stuff. He has been making videos on high horology for 7 years and can project manage. I'll save up to join in on Etude 3.
The small seconds hand has a very smooth sweep, unlike what you'd see in a typical 21,600 VPH movement. Agenhor did an excellent job there, and I believe it's their AgenEse gear that creates that much smoother running hand.
They 'cut out the middleman' ... like DW and Filippo Loretti 😏

Definitely thankful for Bill for allowing all 51 of us to be able to get this watch. The best horological buying experience of my life and I will cherish my Lyrique till the end.
I had input on the design and case size, but pulled out as I didn't like the small seconds at 9:00 o/c.
I haven't seen the watch as a whole yet but the glimpses of the dial is enough for me, I LOVE it!
I don't care what the rest of the watch looks like, the dial does it for me!
I can't afford one because I'm a pensioner but hell .....💗

I love the movement. The gear with a spring on each tooth is innovative and smart . It looks beautiful too, and I love enamel dials
Hard to believe, but it's a lacquer dial.
Beautiful... But the first thing I'd do, is retouch the spare set of hands and have them installed. Those on this watch looked terrible. Other than that, The watch is gorgeous.
The way the bottom of the 8 sticks out just below the sets my ocd off so they’ve achieved that goal 😂 incredible that they managed to coordinate 51 opinions let alone get the thing made. Brilliant stuff.
Get a pill or do something about your ocd then. It’s YOUR problem not ours.

I don't like the dial, but the movement is worth that money. I would wear upside down.
Always liked this idea. If Bill would assemble a larger group who could then decide on a watch by watch basis if they wanted to participate, I’d love to be part of that larger group. Unlikely to happen though.

Bill is awesome! Super knowledgeable and a great guy. I‘m more of a sports watch enthusiast, but if I wanted a nice dress watch I‘d join in for the next version.
I've actually handled this watch. I know one of the guys that was part of the group and bought a couple. Its actually pretty amazing.

I followed the design and build over on his channel . TBF A 40+ case is the minimum for me so I was out but I really wished they'd lowered and covered the 8 sub dial , it doesn't annoy where it is I just wanted it off set as something quirky different.
To be honest, I'd still buy a D Dornbluth and Sohn. Beautiful, German, handmade with the ability to customize and engrave. And a Unitas 6498. So shouldn't be expensive to maintain. You can buy a million dollar jet, that's the easy part. Can you maintain it?
I love all kinds of dials and dial colours but for me the ultimate colour for a classically designed dress watch is white/cream
To be brutally honest the real heroes of the story are the high quality designers, suppliers and manufacturers that came through for these "dreamers". These days if you have the money and drive to do a watch there isn't much stopping you to achieve a fine piece.

Bill has a very interesting channel and a very intersting watch collection. What he is lacking is the filming setup and skills that you have. I would love to see him invited in one of your shows and I would also like to see his most interesting watches filmed and presented by you.
I'm constantly surprised that even in expensive custom watches like this one, the designers think that it's just fine to cover up part of the 8 and all of the 9. Also destroying some of the tick marks. It just seems like really poor graphics to me. (I was a design architect and artist for over 50 years, so I have definite opinions about such things.)
I disagree. I think covering some parts of the dial is a stroke of design genius. Not everyone will love it but I certainly do.
For 7500 that's the best watch out there. That is the only problem, it isn't "out there". The price doesn't matter if you can't get your hands on it. And that kind of breaks the spell.

I’ve always wanted a display case back with a personalized engraving on the rotor, or some prominent internal component… I think that would be quite the bespoke flex 💪
Personalized engravings are about the dumbest thing you can to when it comes to watches.

@@petermartin9494 engraving the rotor is completely harmless, the company can send you an extra rotor if you're buying a luxury watch, so you can always swap out the engraved one if you're talking about resale value.

Success! That crummy 8 does wind me up. Not to mention the sub dial cutting into the minute track. Still very well done.
They did a great job of getting what they wanted for a good price. In our hyper connected world we don’t have to settle for anything mass manufactured if we don’t want to. Craftsmanship comes at a premium but if you’re willing to act as a collaborator and assume some of the liabilities yourself, you can do similar. I’ll be curious to see what they come up with next.

This is something we all should do to these big expensive brands like Seiko, Patik, Philippe,
Rolex. if we all order, I’m sure we can get a better deal.

So, theoretically, if I wanted to build my own watch, where should I look for guides, resources and materials? I understand that making your own watch is a serious endeavor that requires expertise, but would be great to know where to start this journey.
Depends what you really want to do. Do you want to develop everything from the ground up? Or do you just want to design your own case, dial, hands, etc?
If you are looking to go about it from start to finish. George Daniels “Watchmaking” is a great resource.
But if you want to just “design” your own watch, theres very little barrier to entry. All you need is a pencil and paper. 3D CAD software is relatively cheap and you can coordinate with manufacturers over seas no problem.
I think Bill from watchartsci is going to do a video shortly, on how to start up producing your own watch. That will be worth a look.

If I had the money I might take a chance. At that price I would not wear it everyday so would not wear out that fast that it would need service. Unless of course it starts to rust or something. But under the kind of use that I would have for it it'll probably last a lifetime.
The dial is so nice that I would not have changed a thing if they presented me with the prototype.

Based on H Moser & Cie and Parmigiani Fleurier also relying on Aghenor to help with their most complex movements … I think this is legit af.
With 50 guys whose starting-point is a (presumed) level of financial freedom, it seems reasonable that one might end up thinking "I kinda like doing this...a lot". Then goes ahead and does so for essentially the same reasons as this project.
The movement looks like a tier or two above the case specially the dial and hands, maybe its a design quality assurance thing...The movement though looks priceless.
If I had $7,500; this watch would be a no-brainer. I would take this over an Omega or Rolex any day.

You can actually build watches yourself from globally sourced parts but not an original like the boys have done here. Hats of to them and may they continue producing quality watches. To be honest the hands are probably the only things you will need in future servicing and repairs

What I find fascinating is, there are a handful of watches offering water proofing. Seems the watchmakers want us spend all our money and yet take off the watch each time we wash our hands.

Interesting story that proves access to watchmaking has low as well as high end opportunities. Lyrique is a microbrand after all and unusual take on the concept. Having watches his channel a number of times it does not surprise me he created this.
I am a long time Bill follower as well. What they did is great, no2 will be released in short time.

How much is this watch?
Bill's dream is beautiful to behold.
The watch firms that makes the greatest proportion of their own parts, including cases, movements, dials & hands, etc, would be Japan’s Seiko & Russia’s Vostok, rather than any Swiss. Plus out of those 2, Vostok comes out ahead as it has less parts made in subsidiaries in places like China, Malaysia & Singapore.
For me this watch is such a bluff. I never waste half of that on this watch. It was surprising if instead of make a watch that cost 1/3 of a 20k they make that with a 3/4k watch. That would be interesting.
I just googled the price and it ain't £7,500,its retailing over £20,000,hardly affordable to normal hard working people with kids and bills to pay!
