Thank you ^^ Yes you are right. The bowl should touch the water. You have to whisk until the mixture warms up. This is to dissolve the sugar. The mixture should be pleasant to the touch - you can dip your finger in without getting scalded. It is difficult to tell how long cos it depends on the temperature of the water, so just make sure that it is long enough for the sugar to dissolve.

My personal opinion after making the cake for those who wish to try in the future: My oven is like your standard American oven so the cake browned quite easily around the top,side and bottom of the cake(still evenly cooked on the inside). If that is the case for you, the brown layer around the sides and top can be peeled easily or cut with a knife around the edges. The texture of the cake is a little on the mushy banana side after sponge was soaked in syrup for a while. Keep in mind if you don't use a syrup on the sponge, it will perhaps be a little dry in the mouth for this recipe. Overall was your typical not so sweet Asian shortcake, still loved it none the less. Hope I helped. :)

very nice video!! would like to know if there is anything else mixed with the cream & sugar for the icing as normally the icing will not stay that way. in a tropical place, the icing will not hold up especially while piping. Pls advise. Thank u :)

ถ้าตีครีมเพื่อนำไปแต่งหน้าเค้ก ครวตีให้วิปปิ้งครีมตั้งยอดแข็ง แล้วควรเก็บวิปปิ้งครีมที่ตีแล้วในตู้เย็นถ้าหากยังไม่ใช้งาน
