Some people compare gyro with doner. No comper. Doner is rock star
some people dont understant htro mean turning and sharma mean arabic turning so its all doner was invented and expant all over it at otomon era like bajlava.later on some diffrence happen even in turkey wasnt same kike east do diffrent bursa doner ankara or sivas doner diffrent not the same.so ofc at diffrent country will be diffrent.good greek gyro can be more close to turkish doner then germanic doner.germanic doner was most recent thinj happen after 80-90 become popular and its called doner but fully diffrent then we had here at turkey isnt it.
so its all doner.just diffrent name. and ofc all diffrence again as said even isnrt same in turkey.same goes lot of dishes pides diffrent zone diffrent syles.
chicken doner like hatay stle almost same as sharma.
so dont fixed on names.
Once you get involved with Turkish cuisine, you can't stay away!!!
trust me, i know :P
Thanks, Luke for taking us across Türkiye, again. I'm obsessed with this country, haven’t been there yet, go figure 😑😎...I think I know by heart all the Aegean Turkish coast (Gumusluk, Gocek, Sigacik, Alacati, Akyaka, Dalyan, Doganbey) , incredibly picturesque towns and villages. You should go to Mardin, Van, Kars, Trabzon, Rize etc. The thing that impresses me the most about this country is the people...I've never seen nicer, warmer and more hospitable people...they always smile, they are so generous and kind....and they work very hard. 🫶
Definitely next time I would like to visit Mardin, Van and Trabzon
@@olivia47717 Incredible knowledge and interest on Turkish Anatolian peninsula and cousine! Making those spot on detailed comments without spending a second on Türkiye needs extensive research, determination and enthusiasm. Hope you can practically validate all your knowledge on Türkiye. With deep regards...
you are so right I would give you a medal of honor
I was in Turkey one year ago. My favorite kebab is cag kebab, adana kebab is also very delicious, but I’m not a huge fan of iskender kebab. Turkish cuisine is one of the best for sure.
Thanks for sharing!
Its really hard to find the good iskender, but when its done properly its absolutely delicious
Iskender is invented in Bursa, all other places including Istanbul makes fake copies
I fully agree: Cag>Adana>Iskender.
I did that boat tour in Kekova, too. And wow! The water was absolutely incredible. Definitely one of the nicest places I've ever swam (and I say this having also visited Thailand, Philippines, Costa Rica, Mexico, Greece and many other tropical countries famous as beach destinations)
Agreed!
Turkey is the best ❤

Thanks for visiting to my hometown Bursa. I recommend you to next time to try our round shape pide called "Cantık". Great video!
He should also try 'tahinli pide', which is one of the Bursa's quintessential foods. 😊
Kebabs are better than hamburgers,i wish they were more accessible in the world than hamburgers.Bursa kebabs should have many brands outside Turkey.Ayran definitely to have it at all times, while in Turkey.
Türkiye cannot market its own tourism. Unless there is a strong Turkish lobby outside, all our dishes are presented as greek, armenian and arabic dishes in the world. Turkey's loss is great, but we cannot move forward because of politics without wisdom/vision.
Turkeys tourism should be promoted and Luke doing great job.Myself I think kebabs are better than hamburgers, but they need to be done properly by Turkish person.A lot of Lithuanians we love Turkey, the most travelled country for vacation is Turkey @@hakancura4067
Awwww those aunties were so cute. They dont do that for a tip or anything else, they just want to tell you the details about the food they make and she's so proud of herself. That's soo cute. 😂 Believe me these people are not like the vampires in Istanbul. These are very humble people.
14:50 i mean how wouldn't your heart melt after this 😂😂😂😂😂 so cute
I am so grateful to you for introducing Türkiye to people in english-speaking countries🙏🏻
many people have no idea what a beautiful country Türkiye is, definitely worth at least one visit ❤️🇹🇷
My pleasure 😊
@CoolB962 Turks are hospitable, the only racist who tries to badmouth the entire country and its cuisine is you.
@CoolB962 I read your other comments. If the Turks aren't half as racist as you, everything is fine
Not against all the races @CoolB962
Another great thing Turkish does is their high quality affordable chocolates... Godiva is own by a Turkish company and it's not overpriced there unlike other parts of the world
gotta love the super traditional turkish aunty posting on instagram and using a translator app like any millennial, awesome :)

nice of you to show the origins of kebab from the Turks, unlike racist chefs on commercial TV like Jamie Oliver who try and avoid anything to do with Turkish food because they are anti-muslim. I salute your channel sir! :)

Hahah maybe I’m turning Turkish
Turkish food is clean, natural and very delicious...
the original döner before germans tried to steal it!
It is not pancake as it is bread.
In western Balkan we don't do it that simple. We have a dish called Yufkalli Pide that consists av many layers of Yufka made precisley like the gözleme on a SAC and then dopped in meat buljong and also meat are put on the dish.
Wow, can t wait to go to Marmaris again )
Hi Luke. Can we have all restaurants linked below the movie? Saves some time:) I will be in bursa for this iskender in 2 months, greets from Poland:)

What's name of breakfast restaurant?
🇹🇷💕👍
I am Turkish and this is my favourite kebab (Iskender which means Alexander😅)
They invented İskender kebap not döner kebap , döner kebap is much older
Only horizontally positioned all lamb meat kebap is older. First vertical doner kebap in the world is Iskender Kebap from Bursa.
Yummy
Which place in bursa city, this restaurant???

I actually kind of surprised at Iskender, because it is not very comman to see at these kind of 'luxury' places to raise their childs as a master of their jobs.
passion and dedication!
Döner was invented more than 300 years ago and this place did not exist 300 years ago. This is not the place where Iskender Kebab or Döner was invented. Iskender Kebab used to be cooked for Sultans. This place is just the most famous one for Iskender Kebab.
offical now name has changed TURKIYE not turkey please update the title
You may think Turkish people are so lucky for having the chance eating this food every day but iskender kebap is sooo expensive for locals, so it's something people eat once or twice in a month, and most of them aren't even as good as the one in the video
watching this video as a turkish citizen is heartbreaking, there're so many good places in Turkey but no way to experience any of them due to financal crisis
but im happy to see Luke in my country, especially in the southern side since istanbul is so boring and worse place to video
This is the correct way to make doner kebab with mince meat
One day when I pass through I will come and visit
However I would have it just meat chop parsley onions and lemon
Kaş'ta ki tekne sahibi, kahvenin yanına şeker verme kardeşim, bin yıllık lokum geleneğini bozma. Yoksa lokum, su ve kahve yeterli.
Have you tried the hookah/shisha there
Hookah is no way famous, liked or cultural in Bursa or in majority of Turkey. Maybe only in South Eastern Turkey. It became popular in the last 10 years by the flood of Middle Eastern immigrants. Dont go anywhere serving sisha or nargile as we say in Turkish, considering it might be a tourist trap or not that unique...

just one thing sad not Turkish music adding :( feels like italian or greek this way
🧿🧿🧿
Why you used arabic music sound on Türkiye video we are not arabic you should use turkish sounds.
If you ask any random Turkish family, they all invented the kebab.
Ben bursa da yaşıyorum. Bu aile kebabı icat eden ailedir. İskender ismi oradan gelmektedir. Hoşça Kalın. Bursa kebap ve dönerin doğduğu şehirdir.
@@etuuphaberI’m pretty sure the name Alexander originates from Greece.
what are you talking about
@@_TheRealGodthat's not what we are talking about. Talking about the "iskander" kebab, or "Alexander" in English. Not where their name originated.
I’m in bursa now it’s over priced and wouldn’t recommend it they lie and rip people off with portions

hahaha.... they invented the doner kebab??? Did they also claim to have invented computers or vaccines or anything else? 🤣
@@elelelel9822 - 'whining' would suggest a response to my actually believing that they 'invented' it! 🤣
They invented iskender kebab.
What is your problem?
@@MeralBasar-cz4ik his problem is jealousy
@@나는터키 İt's clear 😄
Turkey did not invent Kebab, it is Persian food.
You clearly do not know what you are talking about. Kebab is not a type of food. It is a kind of meat cooking technique just like roasting. That is why it is wrong to use kebab on its own to refer to a type of food. Hence, you use the word kebab with a complementary word to explain what it is just like roast chicken, roast beef, lamb roast... So, though the word kebab has no meaning as a dish on its own, doner/ tas/ sis/ adana/ urfa/ shami/ jujeh kebab all have a meaning as a dish.
As for kebab being Persian, no one can make such a claim. It is liked and prepared in a very large geography by many nations. There is no historical record of it. Turks, Arabs, Persians, Afghans, Indians, even Greeks make a claim that they invented kebab. However, none of them can prove this. Please do not come up with the rubbish that "Ohh kebab is etymologically a Persian or Arabic or Urdu word; hence it is Persian/Arabic...". There are many sources that stated "kebab is thought to originate from transhumant people of Central Asia as they had a meat-heavy diet." In that respect, kebab is the name coined by Arabs/Persians/... for a technique used by nomadic people of Central Asia to cook meat on skewers/shish.
All the claims above are arguable, and there is no way to prove it. However, one thing is certain. The number of kebabs in Turkiye dwindles the number of kebabs in any other country. Almost every city in Turkiye has their own kebab varieties. Cities like Gaziantep, Konya, Urfa, Adana have multiple kebaps. Possibly, Turkiye has more variety of kebabs than in Syria Iraq, Iran, Balkans, and whole Middle East combined together. Just think about this. Turkiye makes about two dozens of kebabs only from eggplants, a vegetable most nations don't even know how to cook. Also, in Turkiye kebabs are unique. So, we don't mix two different varieties of kebabs and call it a new type of kebab like "jujeh kebab + barg kebab = soltani kebab" or "koobideh kebab + jujeh kebab = vaziri kebab" or "barg kebab + koobideh kebab = shamshiri kebab".
@@atillakaragazi838 simple:brainwashed🤣🤣🤦♂️🤦♂️
@@davitazizian4719 If this is the only thing you could come up with, against all the things I wrote and all the things implied therein, then there are just few possibilities. Either you are mature but intellectually unfit to defend your claims, or you are just a teenager who still has a lot to learn and see, or you are just a simple troll who has no tricks other than lying.
You made a rubbish claim. When you were challenged, instead of providing evidence and defending your claim, you used a very cheap technique. Rather than responding reasonably, you chose to attack the personality of the other side, which has nothing to do with the topic we are discussing. This clearly shows that you don't even know how to debate. Why? Because you cannot create and lay out an argument in a rational and consistent manner.
Now, I am asking you. Where are your counter arguments? Where is the evidence to support your claims? Until you bring forward some counter arguments and evidence, your claim remains as a bogus claim and that makes you a liar. I have no further words for you.
Khoda hafez.
😂😂😂
@@atillakaragazi838yes! All these people are getting offended when all Luke said was this is where the iskander version was invented.. not the actual cooking technique. Get a grip people! Lol there was no offense intended in the video or any of the comments I've seen.

And you trust a fictional scenario instead of reality :) you’re always welcome here if you want to find out the difference between a movie and the real life.
midnight express, story written by a crook American smuggling drugs into turkey in the 70s and got caught, turkey has tough laws on smuggling so what turkish or world citizen any one caught with this crime gets the same sentence. Greeks are in reality Turks bro😂 because of this you guys take our good as yout😅
you stop copying turkish food
But turkey didn’t invent kabob lmfao
They did.
Yeah, nobody knew what it was until it miraculously happened in Germany in 60s that’s what they think lmao
Turks even invented shawarma , it's Turkish food as well , shawarma is a crap copy of Turkish döner
There are a thousand different variations of kebab. Some of them originated in Turkey. It’s not that difficult to understand.
No one said they invented "kebab".. they invented the "iskendar" version of it. Get real, and stop jumping to conclusions or looking for something to be offended about when there was nothing there.
the music at 10:00 sounded southern american hahahaha
I've been to to Turkey and went to eat kebab in 10 places, all 10 families claimed to have invented kebab. xD
Bursa iskender is making it since 1867. the oldest döner photo is from 1855 taken in istanbul prepared by a guy from kastamonu. I dont think they have invented it however iskender has definitely promoted it to what it is today.
But which kebab dish are you referring to? This one is specifically about iskender. "Kebab" is a whole category of food, it has like a thousand years of history and a thousand different kinds all over Middle East.
There are a thousand different variations of kebab. Some of them originated in Turkey. It’s not that difficult to understand.
This version is specifically the "iskendar" which relates to the family name which can be traced to the original iskendar kebab. It's not that hard to understand it's only THAT version that is their claim to fame. No insult to other versions was intended in the video.
Don't worry about this idiot , another jealous dog
why have arabia music we not arabia we are turk please dont start video music not turkish
