Also, when plugged directly into the camera, Volta controls it through the cable! Wireless control is used when detached from Volta/when using Media Mod.
Has anyone else have problems with Volta? I got mine last week. I used it one time and now its dead and will not charge. I contacted tech support with no results.
That's awesome. I just got the Volta in the other day. It's going to come in great for us to film our basketball practices and games. We also have the issue of having to change the batteries but now with this we don't need to bring as many accessories and can film during an entire tournament now with just this device. Looking forward to trying it out this season with our basketball program.
What do you guys think?! Would you go for the GoPro Volta or the setup that I recommended? I want to hear what you would choose! CORRECTION: When the Volta is plugged directly into the GoPro, it is controlling it through the cable. It switches to Bluetooth when disconnected or connected via the MediaMod👍
Just once, I want to see GoPro perform a slam dunk. I don't think they have come close since the 3+ Black (best tech at the time). To me, the Volta seems like a stripped-down Karma Grip (the only deletion being the mechanical stabilization). But it also adds the 1/4-20 and tripod functionality, which could be a big deal for some people. Still, it feels like they kinda re-cycled an old idea. There's nothing wrong with that, but the cons you cited are enough to detract me. A few more bucks in parts (ball-head, telescopography and perhaps a gimbal option), they might have quite a product. It falls short, though. As it stands, your setup checks many of the boxes... except for in a continuous time-lapse situation or in low-light. The Volta, at least, ticks one of those boxes.
Great video! Since I already bought the media mod, ulanzi light and falcon plus gimbal. Don't need it. Plus bought the nice Enduro batteries, great vid too btw. If someone new didn't have anything, it's a great all in one package. But if you have time to shop around you can get better items for less. ( Cheaper battery grips out there and I just use my phone if I need a wireless remote. Plus, with a gimbal you can get wider angle shots or night time stabilization! And it also acts as a charger. )
@@tjthedogtrainer The big takeaway is the Enduro batteries. They both extend individual battery life, but also seem to keep the 10 a touch cooler. If one was to spend an extra $20 on four batteries, they'd be much better off, in the long run.
Great video as always David. The Volta as well as the 3-way both have a place in my arsenal. I was intrigued by the Volta since I do most of my recordings behind the bicycle handle bars. Have the ability to extend battery life is a great option when out on long bike rides. Carrying less batteries and not having to change them out makes this a better option at least for me.
I have the Volta. Love it. Works flawlessly. And P.S. with the lens mod there's a thing called horizon leveling. no need for a ball joint. :) Peace Out!!!
Thanks for another great review. I agree, once I saw there was no way to extend the grip it was a no for me. I figure eventually they will update this as well. If the three way and Volta have a child, I'm 100% in. I almost always use the media mod so I hate changing batteries. GoPro, if you are still reading comments here, put the door on the other side so I can replace batteries without having to take the media mod off the mount, pull off the media mod, replace the battery, then put everything back together a gain.
You can mount the Volta to the 3 way with the pop out side mount&clip so you have the best of both. The biggest upside For me is the battery life as a unit.
I have a 9 day hiking trip to Utah at the end of the month. Using the media mod, the Volta will be very useful so I’m not carrying/changing/charging batteries on extended hikes. Regarding horizon leveling, that could be done within camera on the GP10. Combined with a powered mic (Rhodes Wiresless 2) and snap mount system on the retractable feet, that’s going to be a hard system to beat for versatility
@@retiringearly Only if you have a Media Mod. The mic adapter isn't going to cut it, as it doesn't power the cams without often temporarily bricking the cam's audio (the USB port on the adapter is useless). I have been using the Volta for a bit and I use it to follow my kids around and timelapses. Coupled with the Max Lens Mod I get great stabilization. Hello David - What is the make of the mini travel tripod you used in this video @ 4:20 min? I really like you honesty and tips that are very helpful since I am a GoPro beginner. CAN DO.
Hi David. My Volta arrived yesterday and it does look pretty cool but I haven't had a chance to test it out yet. I think you may be right about the extender but I guess we'll find out. The big thing for me is the internal battery. In my experience GoPro batteries are hopeless and don't last very long before expanding and needing to be discarded. I have had to buy several replacements for my Hero 8 and Hero 9 and I'm hoping that the Volta will cut down on that cost. One thing from your video, the remote does apparently work through the cable but Bluetooth kicks in when you disconnect it from the grip. Having said that it would be fantastic if the Bluetooth on the remote could be connected to Hero 8 or before or if there was a multi-cam option on the remote. the Great video as always though. Thanks for the review.
I just bought my Volta for my Metal detecting trips. I connect it to my backpack and it works for what I need it to. I’m happy with the Volta. If I want to get some height, I can mount it to my Manfrotta tripod or my El Grande 38” stick.
Hi David, There was a tripod that Moza made years ago as I have it for at least 3yrs that had a 6800mAh capacity that I used for GP7/8/9 and it had a ball head mount but no extended selfie stick. I’ll say if you don’t use the media mod, changing batteries is abt the same but the inconvenience of carrying them will be the difference. Especially if you’re going with family and wearing swim trunks with no pockets and don’t want to bring a sling. I would say if remote is not your think, then using the 3-way grip or the Ulanzi MT46 metal extended tripod (can carry heavy load to add other small cams). Add on the Octulus 2 battery pack, 5000mAh. Just a little more weight and no wires and you can use it to charge any other action cam, mobile phones, or other electronics. I just add adapters like USBC female to Lightning male for my iP12PM and/or USBC female to microUSB (as we still have some outdated electronics using this, ahem Sony). It comes with a handy right angle USBC adapter. My setup is the Ulanzi MT46 + Octulus Quest 2 battery pack + GP remote and although it is not integrated like the Volta, it gives me flexibility to use GO2, A2, 1R/RS, etc.
Dude, you have a hell of a setup! And the extra capacity in that 6,800mAh battery would be welcomed! I don't think I would kill the Volta on a one day adventure, but I might get close!
I was on the fence - but your review covered everything I need to know - no way to level the camera, no extension, no thanks. I don't often use my GoPros handheld [they attached to my helmet or motorcycle], but when I do, I need something where I can walk around and not be fatigued by straight-arming the thing. The spring-loaded feet are nice though - that makes it easy to mount 2 cameras close to each other for a comparison shot.
When the Volta is connected to the camera, which power source does it draw from first, the camera battery or the Volta battery? It would be disappointing if you decided to use the camera remotely at some point but the camera battery was dead while the Volta still had plenty of life left.
It's tricky, because it seems like the GoPro is pulling from the internal battery at the same time that the Volta is recharging that internal battery. When I used it for a full day, my GoPro stayed at 98% most of the day, then when I went to higher frame rates, it dropped to 96%. But between clips in both situations, it charged the internal battery back up to full👍
I think the volta was created for content creators (vloggers) you could also use it for IRL streaming (connecting it to a backpack like you showed would be great). You can always create a Frankestein monster by combining the VOLTA with GoPro 3-way.
My set-up: I have this Ulanzi powerbank grip - 10,000 MAH which also has a screw option at the bottom. It comes with a cord long enough if you want to attach an extendable arm. I can just change the battery cover with the one with a pass through door for usb-c connection so I can use the gropro while charging or even without a gopro battery. I can attach the magnetic quick realease at the top end of the power bank so I dont need to screw and unscrew if Im going to change grips/tripod or attack a ball head base. It may not have the extension as well but I dont really vlog while walking so It really is not much of a big concern for me. And as you said, having to do the controls on the gopro itself is not much a big deal so there's that. All these Ulanzi provides.
The biggest plus for me are the 2 pop out feet. I don't really need the Volta so much, but I can put a magnetic swivel clip there and mount it on my shoulder strap, pop it off and have a grip/remote mini tripod whilst never having to worry about battery.
My problem with the Volta is that it is not water resistant nor is the remote removable. My use case is to have the GoPro with me and the kids in the pool or any sport activities being able to shoot a kind of third person view (kind of like the Insta360 One X2 would do like a drone) without having to focus on where I hold the cam. Therefore I purchased the Max Lens as well. I would love to have an extendable selfie stick with a removable remote control at the bottom (and optionally additional batteries) and it needs to be water resistant. So I was about to purchase the Insta360 selfie stick + GoPro remote and waive the additional batteries. Do you see any alternatives or is GoPro even planning to come up come up with anything similar? 😊
Max Lens Mod for leveling...... yes? They need a little longer cable so it does not stress the connections, especially if you put the controls on the side rather than directly in front of you.
Nice comparison. If the latest Go Pro overheats and shutsdown after an hour or so, what's the point in having some sort of extended battery of any sort, it won't matter will it.
Great video. I’m new to the GoPro world and I’m wondering if you can put a ball head on the Volta? I’ve gotten 95% of my knowledge on my GoPro from your channel. Thanks for doing what you do🙏🙏🙏🙏
@@DavidManningvlog Yes, it does but depending on how far away you are that won't really matter. I think that solution out weights the con. Or am I wrong?
Awesome vid. Dave can you do a video of settings for daytime recording. Especially for the GO pro 10. I do fishing. I want it to look crisp on a 70"+ HDTV. What do you recommend
@@DavidManningvlog great video. But I’m not buying it, but now GoPro has made this accessory, they should make a update on the hindsight feature. I’m missing a off and on setting on hindsight. Because it go on pause after 15 min. Kind of annoying if you a fishing man.
Hi David, Another great video, Thanks! The main reason I bought the Volta was the ability to use the remote control from a longer distance. You didn't address that feature. I will use it to film my "coming" and "going" (past the camera) when I'm riding my bike. It save a little bit of editing and filming me walking away and then walking back to pickup the camera. Just another pro. :-)
Solid use case Jim! I mentioned that it’s a Bluetooth remote and you could put the camera outside a car and control it from the Volta, but didn’t go into an extended distance setup like that. Awesome idea man!
Dude, that was simply awesome!! Videos like this help people make decisions that they have to live with, im looking at both of these for my trip to Greece and Italy, the volta vs 3-way2.0, it would be 16 days of holding my arm up, you just saved me some grief..... i bought 2 more batteries and a 3-way 2.0, i have 6 batteries now, im wondering if that will be enough? Your opinion... did i make the right choice for vacation travel accessories, or should i have gone for the Volta?
Not related to this video in particular, but I signed up to Epidemic Sound with your link. I keep getting copyright claims for old videos with music from other services, and you're the only creator that comes to mind with Epidemic Sound. Thanks pal.
Great! That may be the perfect solution for the overheating problem. Just one problem: The Volta uses a USB-C port. So where or how can I connect my microphone that also uses a USB-C port? Any solution that you are aware of?
I miss your point that the GoPro has a horizon correction from Hero9, so that kite does not work. Second point, I use my mini tripod as an extension for the volta and then my arm is also lower, but also have the neck strap, the clip and the backpack stick to prevent all that overload from your arm. I also sometimes put down the Volta and shots where I film myself that I walk past, that alternates in watching vlogs. Also moving the Volta with the Hero9+ from low to high when you approach a passage gate, all kinds of added movements in attractive filming for the viewers.
Well, you just added another tripod to the Volta which made it more bulky but also long enough to set up height for Timelapse…question really > can the Volta be charged (I assume yes) with an external power bank ? Via usb c ? Making for a sweet longer uninterrupted shot…. My current set up includes Hero 8 black with all the media mods on a shorty for vlogging and 3-way arm for time lapses. Does the go-pro hero 10 with Volta sound like a good upgrade ?! Regards
I bought a different brand selfie stick, the handler floating handle wich also serves as a not bad walking around handle and 2 spare enduro batteries. I opted for the handler and extra batteries because most of my filming will be in the Philippines and I'll be in the water quite a bit. The volta is cool but can't be used under water and seeing as I'll be out on my boat alot I need something I can just jump in the ocean with any time.
I've got a 6 ft power cord for USB c and a 20,000 milliamp hour battery Bank I don't need any extra batteries and I can really extend it out with the selfie stick, much cheaper. But I do love watching your videos.
hello david, first of all, thank you for sharing your knowledge, you are amazing I have a question I bought a new voltam it's great I just filled the voltami battery. A day later, the battery of the goprom died out of nowhere, I wonder what it could be from, I'm connecting to the volta, what do you say, thank you in advance
Might have a bad connection or something going wrong with the cable. Not sure without looking at it, but if you charge the Volta with the GoPro plugged in, you should have plenty of juice for a couple days👍
I’ve been looking for a single tool that offers all day power and ability to mount it to the shoulder strap. The blue tooth remote ability is just a cherry on top of the whipped cream. So, I jumped on the Volta to streamline my kit. I’m taking it out this weekend on a backpacking trip. So, I’ll let you know if I’m happy or disappointed. 🤪
Seeing as my GoPro 3-Way original broke recently, I have been thinking about what to get next and I think I will definitely stick with the 3-Way 2.0. Didn't realize they had a new version out.
Having a ball mount on the end would be simpler maybe, using the swivel head in conjunction with the normal up/down function gives the ability to level the camera with no issues as the swivel while it locks to 90 degree increments doesn't have to be.
While I agree that the 3-way is nice, I like to shoot time lapse videos and the Volta gives you the ability to continue shooting for a longer time without stopping to change the battery.
I respect your opinions on the GoPro. You taught me alot. But I know who wants 4 hours of continious recording. I do. I'm just a dad trying to see his two little girls growing up. I'm not good with editing and I really don't want to be. I'm the person who puts the camera in the tripod and hits record. I just want to look back at birthday parties, holidays, and even mundane moments. I know 20 years from now when my kids are grown up and have their own families, 4 hour recording blocks of them when they were younger, will be golden.
I'm kinda jacked on this. As for the holding your arm out thing, that's just nit pick. You are the only one who's pointed out you can use the Volta as a wireless remote. Cheers!!!
I’m not sure there’s a limit Stephen! I know some airlines limit single batteries to 100Wh or less, but that would be a TON of GoPro batteries to equal one of those. Pretty sure you won’t hit the limit👍
Hello. I watched your video and you didn't mention any disadvantages with the volta. I have had one for less than two years and I have only used it a few times and the USB-C tip of the Volta broke. The male piece that goes inside the camera came out of the Volta cable. I was looking for a little information and I don't see any solutions, but there are many cases similar to mine on the internet. Do you know who repairs this? I am in the United Kingdom and I would like to fix it since I cannot use the Volta, which has cost me a bit expensive. As I mentioned, I've only used it a few times and I never thought that being an expensive product that looks robust that this would happen to me. Also the customer service is pretty terrible. Thanks for any help on this matter.

I like to use gopro media mod, but then it is quite difficult to replace the battery. That's why I think the volta is a good solution for me. Keep up the good work, greetings from Estonia
Adding in the MediaMod makes the Volta a much more interesting option! Mainly because swapping batteries while using the MediaMod adds an extra step that this solves. Absolutely a solid option for MediaMod users!
I have 3-Way 2.0 but ordered Volta on the other day since I film sunset time-lapse using GoPro HERO10. There is a way to solve leveling issue on Volta by mounting 3-Way Pivot Arm 😁
Yes, I will buy Volta. I can have a longer battery without carrying too many batteries for long recording long-bike sportive events or fondo races. The ability to press the record button without stopping my bike or falling off my bike is a plus. The additional GoPro mount on the side can be used to mount Came on! Klickfix quick release on the handlebar for a quick grab whenever I want to do a vlog. Long battery and easy start/stop and the ability to grab for vlog mode and static handlebar shot without putting down my feet.
Although the Volta provides the power, it obviously does nothing for the heat generated during extended use, like 10 to 15 minutes in the sun. I wonder if a small fan mounted on the Volta blowing air across the camera would alleviate that? Because of over-heating I find that the camera turns off with (with no notification and ) plenty of battery time available and that is a bummer!
I prefer to have the Volta. I hate having to change out batteries, especially at the beach. I don’t do blogging, so having a long reach doesn’t interest me. Yes, I do agree that having a ball head while in tripod mode would be great. By the way, I just ordered the Volta. Looking forward to using it. I appreciate the video. You make excellent points. Much Mahalo. PS. I just read Octane’s comment. There is a horizontal leveling. No need for a ball head. 👍
This is pretty perfect for places i go like Disneyland who dont allow extendable selfie sticks. Its compact, and extended battey life. Also swapping out batterys are a pain while using the media mod.
That would be a perfect use case scenario! We’re actually hoping to hit Disneyland in a few months and didn’t know about their extended stick policy. Thanks Marty!
@@DavidManningvlog yeah man, we go about once a week, and they are pretty strick at security on it, theyve even had me walk a shorty stick back to the car, I was like " it extends like 4 inches" lol. Just ordered this after seeing your video, it will work perfect there. Thanks my man, great review.
Need help..... i liked your review on the gopro 10 so i bought it, i love it but im having a problem when using the media mod.when the camera is facing me and i start to talk it sounds like im 100 yards away then after a few seconds it like a switch goes off and it sounds good. i know there is a setting to choose front or rear mic but i use both sides of the camera when videoing. i should not have to stop videoing and switch mics every time. any ideas ???? also love your videos keep up the good work.
Thanks very much for this breakdown. I was very lucky. I didn't do my homework beforehand, but came across a GoPro 11 Black kit with the Volta at a huge discount. The extra battery life was very attractive to me as I film wildlife documentaries and I am away from power for long periods of time. However, what I really wanted was to be able to put the camera in a log that I carry around and get B-roll shots of animals from close range beside water holes etc. whilst I film with the main camera in a hide. The Bluetooth on the Volta is perfect for that!! I've just done some tests with the camera in different rooms and the Bluetooth (off the camera) still triggered it. Awesome. Then, I'll be able to collect the camera in periodically... charge it back up from the Volta and put it back out. In theory, it sounds a perfect fit for my work. I'll try it in the field next week and find out.
I’d go with the Volta thing just because I need a 1/4-20 mount to quickly swap between the 1/4-20 magnets I use to mount the camera for inside cab shot and tripods for outside shots. Everything around me when filming is iron so I use magnets a ton!
It can be wireless also. When in BT mode, you can have the Volta plugged in, giving the camera a charge, or have it separate and both ways the BT controls work👍
I like the idea of this grip, but as it was pointed out in another video, you have to charge the Volta. When it dies, it dies and you can’t use it. I wish GoPro would have used 2 of the Hero10 batteries in the grip so that you could swap them out when you’re out filming or want to charge them when traveling. That, plus a ball head, and you’ve got a heck of a product.
Just connected my Volta with a superlight weighted selfiestick via the 1/4 thread at the bottom Now I have the perfect, forever ongoing, snowboard monster stick!
Great video Dave. Personally, as I only tend to use 2 batteries at most a day, I think it wouldn't be for me - but I can see it being attractive for some.
A great informative video. I bought the Volta because my operation means that my "over the road" kit now no longer needs three batteries, the remote, hand grip/tripod, battery charger and power bank. And this in turn, makes my backpack that much lighter. However, there is one other negative that may affect some of the community. Although Volta can be used as a remote control, it can only be in use with one camera at a time. As opposed to "The Remote" which can control multiple cameras simultaneously.
GoPro Volta XL should have all these great ideas you mention in this video. Thanks for the review of this product. I am hoping they make the changes you suggested before I buy this. Another Great video review! Extension is not an issue. I like the extended battery use though. Cheers. Wow your kids are growing like weeds.
Nope. On the three-way, you still need to reach up and hit the shutter button. For selfie style photos, I just set the 5 second timer on the GoPro, press the shutter, then hold the camera out👍
Also I think that GoPro could add a "virtual ballhead". Sometimes the camera angle is just a few degrees. And the high resolution of the sensors make posible to just horizon level the image in software by cropping a little ( not as much as the linear +horizon level mode) That way you can mount the camera and press a button on the screen to lock the horizon cropping just the necesary for that angle , a really usefull feature for tripod mount or just when you place the GoPro over a rock/tree. Etc.
My main use case would be snowboarding & would certainly reduce carrying batteries. I also have 2.0 3way mount, which I’m not overly keen on, I’ve ordered the Volta purely for the charging aspect & the ability to perform Timelapses . I dare say someone will come up with a way to add a selfie stick to the 1/4 20 on the base.
Thanks for the review! I am going to try out the Volta. the plan is to slap a snap mount on the spring loaded bit and be able to use it with the chest strap on my mtb rides. That, along with my 400g sd card should easily last a whole ride or race. If I do use it as a tripod, I won't have to worry about it being level because I pretty much keep my lens mod on my gp9 fulltime.
I thought I was being clever when picking a Hero 12 Black Creators kit from the store, because I added the two Enduro batteries with charger to the deal. It was not till I got home and opened the batteries (so I couldn't return them) that I realised that the grip had its own battery. So that's a few dollars I probably didn't need to spend.
I bought the Volta after your review but found my favorite option - The Snap mount - DOES NOT WORK - with the Volta. So, I have to manually take the GoPro on and off and I also realize it's a pain to take on and off with the media mod on it and the just barely long enough thumbscrew. Does GoPro even use their own products?!

That's a solid setup Kenny! And the tripod mount on the bottom is for sure the killer feature on this thing. Makes it so much more useful!
Hi David,
There was a tripod that Moza made years ago as I have it for at least 3yrs that had a 6800mAh capacity that I used for GP7/8/9 and it had a ball head mount but no extended selfie stick.
Hahaa! Someone else mentioned that as well, but I’m not sure the 3-Way could manage the weight🤣
You can use horizon leveling in GoPro to fix the angle on uneven surface
Curious do you need to pull the go pro battery out when using the Volta power like when you normally use an external power source
You can shoot with or without the GoPro battery in there👍
My set-up:
I have this Ulanzi powerbank grip - 10,000 MAH which also has a screw option at the bottom.
Thanks for the review! Does the Volta work with the media mod, or can I connect an external mic to the Volta?
The biggest plus for me are the 2 pop out feet. I don't really need the Volta so much, but I can put a magnetic swivel clip there and mount it on my shoulder strap, pop it off and have a grip/remote mini tripod whilst never having to worry about battery.
That’s a super solid use case Vince! I’ll have to give that a try!
I feel like you already have a pretty sweet setup Attila! Not sure what GoPro's future plans are, but I might build your setup and give it a go!
Thanks for doing what you do🙏🙏🙏🙏
Isn't that what the horizon leveling is for? If you're on an uneven surface you can just use the horizon leveling to fix it up to a certain degree.
Horizon leveling brings in a heavy crop to the frame though
@@DavidManningvlog Yes, it does but depending on how far away you are that won't really matter.
I think that solution out weights the con.
Or am I wrong?
Awesome vid. Dave can you do a video of settings for daytime recording. Especially for the GO pro 10. I do fishing. I want it to look crisp on a 70"+ HDTV. What do you recommend
Absolutely! I'll get an updated settings and tips video up soon!
07:51 No need for a level surface or ball-mount. Just use horizon lock
Is possible to add a external microphone on it? I mean, like rode wireless go?
Video coming tomorrow on the Creator Kit. Keep an eye out for that one👍
@@DavidManningvlog Sure ! Thank you 😊
Dude, that was simply awesome!!
I love the DJI action 2 remote tripod, ok no battery but it extends and has ball mount and magnetic and and just better
Would it attach to a selfi stick perhaps, or would that be too heavy?
Regards
Just brought my first ever action camera go Pro hero 10 just yesterday! 😎
Stoked for you Dhanagopalan! You're going to love that thing man!
The Volta worked out well for me recently in Lisbon and the Azores. There was only one lonnng day when I wish I would have brought another battery.
But I do love watching your videos.
hello david, first of all, thank you for sharing your knowledge, you are amazing
I have a question
I bought a new voltam it's great
I just filled the voltami battery.
Hard to decide. Like the 3-way though.
How did the volta work for you?
Can I put a snap mount on the volta and connect the GoPro the magnetic Bluetooth way?
Seeing as my GoPro 3-Way original broke recently, I have been thinking about what to get next and I think I will definitely stick with the 3-Way 2.0. Didn't realize they had a new version out.
The 2.0 is a really welcomed improvement! The tripod base is better designed and sturdier and the ball head makes all the difference!
Having a ball mount on the end would be simpler maybe, using the swivel head in conjunction with the normal up/down function gives the ability to level the camera with no issues as the swivel while it locks to 90 degree increments doesn't have to be.
Can the Volta be combined with the 3-way 2.0 by placing it on top of the 3-way 2.0???
Solid idea, but I don't think the 3-Way is sturdy enough to pull that off
While I agree that the 3-way is nice, I like to shoot time lapse videos and the Volta gives you the ability to continue shooting for a longer time without stopping to change the battery.
i Have the grip who came witn the karma drone. and my question is. IF the volta has the same funcion wen you are in movement??
We’re to get one of those feet adapter for the tripods as can’t seem to find the link thanks
Cheers!!!
The shots not crooked, horizon leveling?🤷🏻♂️
David, How many gopro batteries can I get on the Airplane?
so you wanne buy 3 extra batteries with the 3 way ,but how are you gonne charge those batteries as that volta does it all/food for toughts
It's a little more of a pain in the ass to change the battery with the Media Mod on but I have to agree, I like the 3-Way 2.0 much better.
A lot of great information. I dont have a tripod yet and with a battery pack it will be a two in one for me. You feed back is amazing thank you.
I own 3 way 1.0 version. I don’t mind the Volta in my collection
why isn't the BT remote wireless.only if i could separately hold the remote.
It can be wireless also. When in BT mode, you can have the Volta plugged in, giving the camera a charge, or have it separate and both ways the BT controls work👍
David, have you tried to use this with the Insta360 ONE RS?
I like the idea of this grip, but as it was pointed out in another video, you have to charge the Volta. When it dies, it dies and you can’t use it. I wish GoPro would have used 2 of the Hero10 batteries in the grip so that you could swap them out when you’re out filming or want to charge them when traveling. That, plus a ball head, and you’ve got a heck of a product.
Could I attach the Volta to the gorilla selfie stick? Thanks
Just connected my Volta with a superlight weighted selfiestick via the 1/4 thread at the bottom
Now I have the perfect, forever ongoing, snowboard monster stick!
I am glad you put the disclaimer about shooting for 4 hours. I can see someone saying I tried to shoot 5K to 64GB card for 4 hours and it didn't work.
I’m with you PJ, very excited to see GoPro Volta XL👍
Can I shoot photo with the 3 way 2.0? Is there button?
Nope. On the three-way, you still need to reach up and hit the shutter button. For selfie style photos, I just set the 5 second timer on the GoPro, press the shutter, then hold the camera out👍
@@DavidManningvlog thanks 👍
Also I think that GoPro could add a "virtual ballhead". Sometimes the camera angle is just a few degrees. And the high resolution of the sensors make posible to just horizon level the image in software by cropping a little ( not as much as the linear +horizon level mode)
That way you can mount the camera and press a button on the screen to lock the horizon cropping just the necesary for that angle , a really usefull feature for tripod mount or just when you place the GoPro over a rock/tree. Etc.
I love my voltas. Been using them since they came out.
do you use the batt of the gp while it's on the volta or u can remove the batt while on volta? thanks guys!
Do I have to open the side cover to plug in the Volta to GoPro 11?
That lens mod is so dang sweet! They just need to make a GoPro with it built in already!
Hi, Is it possible to use the Volta handle with the Media Mod?
can you still add an external mic like the DJI wireless mic while using the Volta or with this, you can only use the GoPro mic?
I've looked at a lot of these reviews. I think I will wait for version 2.0. Provided they put your suggestions into it.
Question... does the horizon levelling thing take care of that crooked shot problem?
Honestly, your videos are so fun!
Can you use the record butting on the volta purely to take pictures ?
Yes
I am going to try to pop it on top of ULAZNI MT-16 and I think it will work 🤞
Tq David.your vedio inspire me a lot and full with knowledge.someday i will get my GoPro even just GP9..thnks.
Help! Mine won’t turn on or do anything
Your Volta won't? Is the light coming on when you charge it up? And have you tried plugging it directly into your GoPro?
Is that an OG Gameboy on the shelf in the background?
What about using mediamod with volta ?
