Great video to be prepared. I might have missed it but worth mentioning that the Volta has a mounting point on the bottom. No other selfie stick they sale has that.
Very helpful video. Really like your channel. Here's one more suggestion for an accessory that I find very useful----labels for SD cards. When on travel( or even at home-) it's tricky keeping track of all the micro sd cards from multiple GoPros, multiple drones, a DJI Pocket 2 , etc. So I keep all the micro sd cards in their SD card sleeves and label those cards to help keep track of content. I then keep all those cards in SD card holders similar to what you've shown.
on your advice on a previous video, you mentioned the Akner battery pack. I bought one and it has been one of the best purchases ever. A great piece of equipment to recharge a multiple of devices.
This is great to hear! Yes, I found the first one so useful I ended up buying a few of those. They work great for powering and charging not only my GoPro but my phone and other gear as well.
Great shout on the Gumby - I'd not heard of it before and have been looking for other options for mounting on a sea kayak - suction mounts don't work well on plastic kayaks. Going to give the Gumby a try. Thanks
New subscriber 😊😊 - thank you so much for you sharing your recommendations. I recently have added a media mod to my Hero 11 and on my last 2 videos I lost audio?? Have you ever experienced this with the media mod and if yes what did you do to fix it? I am hesitant to use it now - I had plans to add a wireless microphone but now is am unsure what to do. I have a small fishing channel and losing hours of potential video is just unacceptable. Thanks so much for any advice. I look forward to watching more of your content!
Great video, I have been using an Anker for my iPhone. It’s been great. I manage to charge my phone as well as my wife’s from the same charge. Volta is good for the GoPro. Just bought the GoPro 12 creator edition. I hope it does well for me. I just worry about overheating. And recently watched your video on overheating as well. Thank you for sharing. I recently got moved ad got married in Vietnam. So I plan to use the GoPro. On my adventures. By the way. Just subscribed to your channel😊
Good videos !! With the Volta, can I use the Volta without the internal battery inside the gopro ??. . . . .or must the internal battery be inside the gopro all the time ??
I was on some epic hikes in Hawaii back in April 2017, including over some active lava flows down near the ocean. My wife and I rode bikes about 5 miles to get to where we were hiking. I captured some epic footage but I only had one extra battery and my first battery ran down quicker than expected due to my GoPro accidentally powering on in my pocket. Missed out on some neat footage.
Also, remember, the GoPro battery only lasts maybe an hour, the new Enduro will last longer, and holds up better to the cold so that helps, but always best to have at least 2 batteries, best to have 3, or 4 if on a long shoot. That is, per camera if taking more than one.
@Roads.of.Mumbai Fair point as well. That is part of my focus with accessories as well. Buying the ones that are most used and not spending money on accessories that will not get much use.
Going in Cayman Island and wanted to shoot some great snorkeling and diving photos under water. Can you do a video for the under water shooting settings with hero 11 for photos and videos please
Sounds like a fun trip! I created this video that shows recommended best settings for the Hero 11 including general best settings: ruclips.net/video/5rck0XpGdp4/видео.html I recommend checking that out and then it could be a good idea to test out your GoPro with these settings in a smaller body of water closer to home (if possible) to ensure you like how the footage looks.
Great video, very helpful. How about using gimbal on the move? Are you using any? Or you find it to cumbersome? I'm still in between when it comes to my hiking gear. I usually have things attached somehow to my backpack either to film it from there or to quickly unmount it and use handheld. For photos I use DSLR so usually I look like Christmas tree with all the stuff attached ;) Gimbal is great but difficult to mount/dismount. What about Volta + hypersmooth in latest gopro? Is it enough without gimbal? Any way of attaching it to backpack and quickly unmounting or filming when mounted on backpack? I still haven't found a good setup/solution without switching accessories constantly. How are you traveling/dealing with it? Edit: I own GoPro 7 and I'll probably will upgrade to 11 to have internal stabilization
Thank you. I do use a gimbal in certain filming situations, including most of the time when I am using ND filters. I use the Inkee Falcon or the Hohem iSteady Pro 4. If you are using Hypersmooth with the Volta, a gimbal is typically not going to be needed as long as you are in good lighting. If filming in low lighting Hypersmooth will not tend to work well due to the slower shutter speed and will create jittery footage. That is when a gimbal can be useful with Hypersmooth turned off. The Hero 11 does also offer a boost to the Hypersmooth which can provide an even greater degree of stabilization with the trade-off of a bit more cropping.
i tried the foam and the fuzzy and like in your testing, the wind noise persist. The best solution was the water prove box that muffler the sound and get rid of any wind noise. i will try covering the mic holes with tape. i dont speak when i am riding, i just dont want wind noise at all. thanks. Hugs. Carlos m.
Nice work Great Day! Love the content as usual! Question... does anyone know how to extend the range of The Remote? The Bluetooth device is rated for 196', but would it be too much to ask for, say 1320' (1/4 mile)? I've looked at repeaters and transmitter combos, and extenders, they just seem geared for audio. Thanks a bunch!
Hi Author of this channel. I have GoPro 10 and I am interested what would you recommend me as an underwater tripod for filming fish in still freshwater clear courses? I will submerse camera only while sitting in a boat, drop some boiled stuff in front of the camera or a minnow and leave camera and light on for about 2hrs and then comeback. What settings would you recommend for night and day underwater shooting? As a tripod I want to use a 5 liter plastic bottle with a handle on the neck, put some lead weights inside to ensure bottom is more heavy than top side, attach a camera with wires thru holes in plastic with lights on from AliExpress, 20m rated, tie a rope to a bottle handle and fix the other end of a rope to reeds. Cheers from Kazakhstan )))
Concerning the DJI Wireless Mics, can you record sound with both external mics And the gopro hero 11 mic also? I am looking to be able to capture my companions' voices with the wireless and my own with the gopro itself as the photographer. Thanks!
I know this is a 4 month old question but here goes... If you have the DJI or the Rode Wireless Go or Hollywood Lark 150, they all come with 2 transmitters and a receiver, so you can use both at the same time, just set it to stereo and leave each mic on its own track and then mix in post. I have the Hero 9 and it seems it only either does the camera mics, the media mod or external, but combined so using a wireless 2 mic system is the best solution I know of. Conversely, get a Zoom or Tascam etc audio recorder and record your guest and you on separate tracks and then use the camera's mics or the media mod as scratch audio and sync them in post.
The only accessory that I wanted for my Hero 11 is something that I could use to set the GoPro on my car dashboard securely, instead of using a suction mount for the windshield. Kinda like the old Garmin sandbag mounts that held the GPS without it sliding around. Simply does not exist.
Have you tried out this one yet? I haven’t personally used it but I know a few GoPro users who have used this for the purpose you describe. amzn.to/45TiKrx
Hi G what is your thoughts on going from the H9 to H11 still learning a lot as i go on I started with the H3 on to the H7 now sitting with the H9 buzzed up about the 11 what to do
Great question. H9 to H11 is an upgrade that would offer two big things: 10-bit video on the H11 vs 8-bit video on the H9. A more powerful chip on the H11 that gives more responsive performance with the touchscreen and normal usage of the camera. The H11 has lots of other features as well including the star trails, light trails, and other modes that do these things in-camera.
The difference can be subtle, especially when viewing on RUclips and depending upon the filming situation. The difference will often be seen in scenes with the sky or clouds.
Yes, I have a bunch of these ND filters and am in the process of finishing this video. I did an extensive testing process to pinpoint the best settings and techniques so that I can help anyone interested get the most out of their ND filters with the Osmo Action 3.
Can I use a USB-C splitter on the Hero 11 so I can simultaneously connect the Volta and an external microphone like the Rode Wireless Go2 or the DJI Mic? Thanks!
I haven't attempted this before so I cannot say for sure. My initial expectation is this would probably not work, but it could be worth trying to find out for sure.
@@GreatDayForAHike Thanks for your reply - much appreciated. I found the perfect solution. I can connect the Volta to the USB-C port of the Media Mod, and the DJI Mic into the 3.5mm jack of the Media Mod. Or, I can just use the DJI Mic completely wireless and simply sync the video with the audio afterwards during editing. Problem solved.
You're handling the charging (pass trough) door wrong. The cable shall make a kind of loop and get IN the cable support, the hook over the aperture. That will prevent hard pulls of the cable.

I use my GoPro to video for long periods. We all know the camera is subject to overheating. Doesn't the Media Mod hold the heat in and cause overheating?
Overeating on GoPro cameras to the point the camera shuts down is not something I have experienced when using them with the exception of one time when I intentionally forced an overheat on the camera which took quite a bit of effort and special combination of settings and conditions including using it in a warm, indoor environment. Could the Media Mod make the GoPro hold in a bit more heat? Possibly. I’ve not ever had any of my GoPros overheat and shut down while using them with or without the Media Mod, so I cannot say for certain on that.
