Nobody knows how legendary everyone in this room is. To have them come together in unity for their love of their Hawaii. Is an extremely beautiful thing
I didn't realize the significance until Keali'i Reichel popped up at the end. I also didn't know the powerful meaning behind the song, I just knew it stuck with me for some reason.
I am Samoan but raised on the Westside of Hawaii, in Waianae (Home of the Brave). The Hawaiian culture in Waianae is strong, and as both Samoans and Hawaiians are Polynesian, I developed a deep appreciation for both cultures. Throughout my life, many people have had a positive impact on me-my Pali/Adams family, the Amina family, and especially the late Aunty Ona (Ms. K), to name a few. I am a God-fearing man above all, and I take pride in being Samoan by blood and Hawaiian in spirit. Though this wasn't around during my childhood, it evokes a sense of nostalgia and brings tears to my eyes as I reflect on Hawaii and the struggles its people have endured. This post isn't about pointing fingers or dwelling on the past-what’s done is done. It’s a reminder to embrace your culture, love where you come from, and always seek ways to show respect and love to all. Above all, place your trust in God. This life is temporary, but your spirit is eternal!
I come from a people of lost heritage for I am African American. In most cases, it is impossible to know of our native ancestors and traditions, which is why I feel deeply for indigenous people, but especially those in the paradise of your native land, Hawaii. My son, who is now deceased, lived in Honolulu for two years. When he returned home, he spoke of the beauty there, an in Maui. The native people welcomed him as they opened their heart to Him. As a mother, I cannot put into words how much that meant to me. It is my dream to trod where he once was, and to meet the wonderful people of Hawaii. When I discovered this video, I broke into tears. How my heart weeps for your struggle not to loose your unique identity. Though I don’t know your language, but I feel from my core, you proudly sing of who you are as a people, and your beautiful land-and once again I cry like a baby. May you keep up the fight; please never give up, for the Creator made you to be just as you are-a beautiful people.

Hello~ i moved to korea 4 years ago. I don’t know why, but I was shuffling my music and came across this song that once again brought me to tears. I think the emotion is nostalgia. I only know a few singers here, but relistening after many years, I hear the hearts of everyone. My 2024 goal is to be able to sing the whole song and understand the words by heart. I am not kanaka, but hawaii is my home and this is a song I had the privilege long ago to learn at least the first verse and chorus and stand by kanaka with mele and kahea. I hope everyone is well and has the strength to keep moving forward. Mahalo nui loa~

Had the privilege to be a part of a conference on Oahu where Kumu Hina was the keynote speaker. Her speech on our Kuleana to our identities, cultures, and our ourselves was very inspirational. To end her keynote address she proudly sang this mele where I proudly sang along and shed a few tears.
I am German and don't understand the words. But I felt and feel it, the Spirit and every beating heard of the native singers. I cried. I never saw Hawaii live. And I won't see it live in the Future, because of my sad health. But my Heart is with you all. ❤️❤️
I lived in Hawaii once before. It helped me health wise big time! I miss fresh fruit and food❤ the water's of Hawaii heals my broken body ❤ God bless everyone, from Alaska 🙏🔥🔥🔥
forgive me, for i have been raised on the mainland far, far, from the roots and traditions of my people. I do not know or understand the words, but despite the distance and disconnection on my part, even i recognize a 'Call-To-Arms'. A call to all Hawaiians to rise up, unite, and protect our home; our land; our history; our identity.

I'm from the Kingdom of Tonga and I can relate to this and i cannot tell you how much this song has touches our heart and it comes with love and care for our islands and our people to stand together and protect our culture and our people. Rise up high Hawaii and protect Mauna Kea. 🇹🇴❤🌹

I cannot tell you how many times I've listened to this and every time I tear up not only because it's so beautiful but because I'm a main lander and wish I was a part of such a proud and beautiful people. these days that is far and few between, thank you for making me feel so grateful with your words and your pride and your beliefs.
I was moved to tears for several times by this song and always come back to listen to it. It's so beautiful. Even though I don't understand the words I feel your love and your plea. I just heard this mele for the first time today, just had RUclips playing music for my son to go to sleep, and this song came on, wasn’t really paying attention until it hit me that they are chanting a mele, and instantly the pain of my ancestors crept in. I immediately replayed the song and by the end of it was chanting along crying. We will live and if need be die as Hawaiians. Onipa’a Kakou ✊🏽

I just cry tears of hope and love and im so thankful there are beautiful people that can sing and put a beautiful song out.. May our creator watch over all..
I'm not originally from Hawai’i, but I was born on one of its sacred ground. So the least I can do is be happy and thankful because it is a lifetime dream for most people to be born in Paradise. Not just because of the beaches and the Blue Ocean, but also because of how strong and beautiful the culture is and how the stories of it developing through wars and blood have been told, with all family gatherings and the power that’s called ”ALOHA” running through their veins nonstop. It is a life history that I won't ever regret and will never forget. Big Aloha to the Hawaiian Islands and Ohanas, Blessed land.

I am sorry for your health. glad our language lifted your soul however

forgive me, for i have been raised on the mainland far, far, from the roots and traditions of my people. I do not know or understand the words, but despite the distance and disconnection on my part, even i recognize a 'Call-To-Arms'. A call to all Hawaiians to rise up, unite, and protect our home; our land; our history; our identity.

The sea of Hawai’i surges in turmoil
The earth of Haumea rumbles and shakes
The highest heavens shudder up above
Alas! Woeful indeed are the heartless foreigners
* *Stand tall my Hawai’i*
Band of warriors of my land
The new dawn for our people of Hawai’i is upon us
For my nation I give my all so that our legacy lives on
Where are you soldiers of Keawe
Along with those of Maui and O’ahu
Unite, join together with those of Kaua’i
Marching alongside the descendants of Ni’ihau
Move forward young ones and drink of the bitter waters
Be fearless, steadfast for there is no turning back
Let’s press onward straight on the path of victory
Alas! Woeful are the heartless foreigners!
Be honored always oh beloved descendants of the land
Let us wear the honored ‘a’ali’i of our beloved land

Every time I listen,my heart is so full of love for Hawaii
Proud 2 b a Native Hawaiian! Such a spiritual and u'i mele....IMUA victory will be ours even if we have 2 endure sum trials....our pepo will not falter nd give up easily, i seen it from our Kupunaz! One Nation, foward motion, in God we trust!
