You have to listen to the Beatles in chronological order. They didn't change with the times, they changed the times. There are The Beatles and then there is everybody else.
"Remember how I said I was out of my comfort zone ? Well they made me feel very comfortable" is one of the best quotes "I've heard about The Beatles .Love it.
The Beatles are like the foundation of modern music. The greatest band of all time, I could comment like 30 tracks that are bangers. I'm 27 and from South America and I still think no other musicians come close to their genius, the impact they had on the world is legendary. If there was only one band I was allowed to listen to for the rest of my life it's the Beatles, and it's not even close. They are music. Here are some songs you need to listen to if you haven't already: Let It Be, Hey Jude, Come Together, Help!, Eleanor Rigby, While My Guiter Gently Weeps, Yesterday, Something, All You Need is Love.
It's hard to believe that I remember watching this as it happened live on TV in the kitchen when I was younger, they changed the World for a small moment in time, they even changed Russia with Beatle Music and songs, I love the annual gathering in new york I wish it was a moment in time we could freeze. Thankyou for posting this and keeping the dream alive.
One cant overstate the influence of The Beatles. Not just in music, but art, fashion, politics, film, the entire zeitgeist of the era and for nearly all age groups. A new Beatles album was itself an event people awaited for with great anticipation, and when released blew everything else off the charts.
Ahh The Beatles! This is the lads right at the end of the career. They recorded one more album together, but this was pretty much the last time they were seen in public as a band. It was an impromptu gig on top of the head quarters in London. You’ve seen the end…make sure you go back and listen to the journey, even if it’s not for reaction just listen in your own time! On the keys was a man name Billy Preston. He was a child prodigy classical pianist, but he broke away to play mainly gospel and blues on Hammond organ. He became friends with The Beatles at some stage and they asked him to play on the Let it Be album because Paul, who usually played the piano parts had too much to do on bass and guitar. Billy added so much to that record, and whilst The Beatles previously had other people play on records with them, Billy Preston was the only one they ever credited as a member of the band.
The Beatles are the most influential music act in history. Lots of people surprisingly put them down after hearing a few of their early songs, and don't give their later stuff a chance after that. The members are John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. Every member has written and sung for the band. Since this is a John song, I'll recommend a song from the other members. Oh! Darling (Paul) While My Guitar Gently Weeps (George) (it's important that you do the White album version, and not the Love version with the music video) Octopus's Garden (Ringo) And if you want a more experimental song, the song Rain is a good choice, released at the near exact middle point of their career. That's one of my favorites.
They were everything, cool, ahead of their time, mesmerizing, so talented. Whenever I hear them I want or do go down the rabbit hole. I'm 72 and I feel sadness and joy and tears for the past lost. Was great, thanks for the reaction
I’ve always thought this is among their top five very most beautiful tracks and with the Beatles THAT’S saying something! Try Dear Prudence and Oh Darling - you’ll be equally blown away ❤
There are soooooo many great Beatles' songs: Let It Be, Hey Jude, Something, Helter Skelter, Help, Yesterday, I Want To Hold Your Hand, I Feel Fine, In My Life, Hello Goodbye, All You Need Is Love and Here Comes The Sun. Just to name a few of many, many songs.
This performance was done at the end of the Beatles as a band. John sings "I'm in love for the first time" referring to him and Yoko. This actually upset his son Julian because his father said the love had no past wiping out the years he met and married Cynthia, Julian's mother. Billy Preston's keyboard is signature here. This song is so ironic sounding so good all while the Beatles were breaking up.
What's funny is George was laughing his butt off I think at the guy laying on the ground. That is Billy Preston playing the keys. He played on a lot of the Beatles later tracks.
That was Billy Preston on the keyboard... they wanted to play these songs live so they needed someone to play the keyboard. They got Billy to come in as they had known him since 1960 (9 years before) when they played in Germany and met him when he was playing with Little Richards band... Keep on Rocking.
Billy Preston was playing keyboard for the group (which was the last live performance they did). If you want to see screaming crowds, check out the concert at Shea Stadium.
This was the last time they performed live together. They were and always be THE GREATEST EVER! Enjoy the journey my friend. Check out Hey Jude Live. Fans on stage with them. WILD!
On the 30th of January 1969, the Beatles performed an impromptu concert from the rooftop of their Apple Corps headquarters at 3 Savile Row, in central London's office and fashion district. Joined by keyboardist Billy Preston, the band played a 42-minute set before the Metropolitan Police arrived and asked them to reduce the volume. It was the final public performance of their career. On April 10th, 1970 Paul McCartney gives an interview and said he's leaving the band. Even though John actually had quit a few months earlier. The Beatles were no more.
One of the greatest piece of rock music ever record. Beatles still the leaders of any type of music in history. If you were there when the Beatles hit the world, then you know what effect they had on the whole world
My parents (and family) were Beatles fanatics. I’ve always loved them. I too got into R&B and Hip Hop (which is now crap rap, imho) as I grew up but I never lost my love for The Beatles. They’re just special. And last year, I started studying everything about them. They changed everything. I wish I had been alive at the time. ❤
The thing I always think about with the beatles is that they were so revolutionary, so groundbreaking in so many different ways. They changed the way songs were written, recorded, produced and performed. When I listen to them I always think that when they first came out, no one had ever heard anything like it before. Girls would literally faint in the audience. Apparently when their shows were over, the venue would smell like urine because members of the audience would just piss all over themselves.
In this clip you can see the keyboardist Billy Preston, a good friend of the Beatles (special story in the Beatles universe) for a moment from 2:25 min. Preston, himself a professional musician before, had his own successful career after working with the Beatles (including two No. 1 hits in the USA) and was always a welcome session musician for many artists. This so-called "rooftop concert" in London, a total of about 45 minutes long, filmed on the roof of their Apple studio, shot for a cinema film, "Let it be" (1970 in cinemas) was the Beatles' last appearance as a Band in public in January 1969. Peter Jackson, the 'Lord of the Rings' director, compiled several hours of unreleased material from the recording sessions a year ago and released it on "Disney+". Not just interesting for Beatles fans, but generally exciting to watch, how a song is created, who incorporates which ideas, how the band chemistry develops. Also, since it's about the Beatles, it's extremely historical footage.
This was 3 years after they stopped touring, and on a cold January, drizzly day in England on a rooftop for an impromptu concert. Paul giggles when the police show up, hoping for a big shut down, but they politely asked them to wrap it up soon. Their early shows where are where Beatlemania is more prevalent. Their stadium shows at Shea, or Candlestick are good ones to look for. Plus the early shows in England are great too, that is where they met Billy Preston (playing for Little Richard then) and he joined them on the rooftop for this performance.
One Beatles song you should review, "Helter Skelter" is considered to be the very first heavy metal/punk rock song, by contemporary standards (loud banging instrumentals with screaming vocals), long before punk rock was a classification of music. Paul McCartney heard an interview of Pete Townsend of The Who boasting that their latest record was the loudest, rawest, and dirtiest (not x-rated) song ever made (or something like that). Upon hearing of this, Paul felt The Beatles need to top this with something of their own. So he produced Helter Skelter.
The best band of all time without question. As an aside, during Beatles concerts they couldnt hear each other because the screaming of the girls in the crowd was so loud so they would have to play based on watching each others movements.
Great reaction! So many great songs to choose from. The Beatles are the biggest selling music artist of all time (of any genre). It would be fun to see you react to some later Beatles songs like "Come Together" , "Something", and "The Long and Winding Road", and some early Beatles like "Money" and their live appearance on the Ed Sullivan show doing the song "Twist and Shout". Peace
It would be nice if YOU would get over only listening to later recordings, and all of it cherry-picked at that. One needs to listen to whole albums, intact, and in order of release, because the way you're doing it is self-deprivation.
I thought I'd watch this quick whilst it's still up. Beatles are notorious for copyright! This is quite late for them. If you can find any footage from Shea Stadium, you'll see what all the comments were about with the screaming! Thanks for this reaction. They really did turn things round back in the 60's
Double edged though. When they stopped touring they had the space and time to expand and explore their full creativity. Touring was horrible for them, the Studio was their playground.
In listening to older rock, you'll find there's an inflection point around 1965. Prior to 1965 it's mostly teeny bopper music, dance craze music, novelty music. But beginning with a few songs in 1965 a maturation begins, it catches fire with all the top bands, and it's in full swing by 1967. The Beatles are part of it. The first glimmers of change toward artistic maturity begin with their Rubber Soul album (1965), followed by Revolver (1966). After that, the Beatles are in full swing, exploring music with more artistic quality and no longer aiming to produce pop hits for teenagers. A lot of people used to cite the 1967 album "Sgt. Pepper" as when music changed, but it just depends on where you draw the line. I think music changed with Bob Dylan's move from acoustic folk guitar to electric guitar, first seen in his hit "Like A Rolling Stone" (1965). That's another frequently cited inflection point. That's when some rock music took a step away from pop, toward art and personal and social themes.
Yes Billy Preston. They met & became friends as teenagers playing in Hamburg. They brought him into these sessions to calm The Beatles down as they were fractious & falling out. With Billy there they all had to be on their best behaviour.
They have many genres - Early Rock/Pop - Twist and Shout, Cant buy me love, A hard days night, Help. Sophicated Rock/POP - Drive my Car, Back in the USSR, Dear Prudence, Hello Goodbye, Taxman, Get back, Come together. Soft Ballads: Yesterday, In my life, And I love you, for no one, norwegian wood. Rock Ballads, Something, Let it be, Hey Jude, With a little help, Lucy in the sky with diamonds, here comes the sun. Heavy rock, Helter Sketler, While my guitar gently sleeps, Yer Blues (all on the same album!) lady madonna, I want you, oh darling, I ve got a feeling. Fun songs - Yellow Submarine, When Im 64, ob la di ob la da, Octopus garden, Clasical - Eleanor Rigby, All you need is Love, shes leaving home, here there and everywhere. Experimental: A day in the life, Why dont we do it in the road, Towmorow nerver knows, I am the walrus, got to get you into my life, within you without you, rain, strawberry fields forever, the end. Lots more! (and I know my Genre list is basic and groupped songs that shoudl have their wn category)
You should really check out the Beatles' song "This Boy" from the "Ed Sullivan Show" It is one of the best songs that features John Lennon's amazing voice. He goes from a melodic song, singing with Paul and George, and then breaks out into his high-pitched raunchy voice, and immediately back to the melodic voice with Paul and George. It's an awesome performance. Additionally, you see John and Paul exchanging smiles throughout the performance. It's fantastic.
Great reaction mate hope you're well. Have to do more beatles reactions biggest and in my opinion best artist of all time, the way their music transcended into every category from starting as pop rock band to digressing to Indian psychedelic sounds they truly made music like no others. I'd say girl or in my life next by the boys but to be honest would love to say u do albums from the start to their last album just because they have more iconic songs than u can even imgaine much love
My favorite song by the Beatles. John Lennon screaming vocals. Epic. Grew up with my parents listening to these guys. And I’m named after 2 of their songs ❤
Growing up I listened to the Beatles and ABBA(you probably know "mama mia" as one of their songs) If you want, please check out ABBA. They're in their 70s now, but they just released a new album "Voyage". Have a great day, Cliff!
For me it was an amazing moment in history, the Beatles stepping out onto the rooftop, and everyone coming to a standstill to listen to them give a live free concert for the neighborhood and the world to see. The bobbies came in and shut them down because of the disruption they caused. Oh, how I wish I were on the streets below them that day.
So many great Beatles songs to choose from, here some of my favorites: While my guitar gently weeps , A day in the Life, Eleanor Rigby, Something in the way, Blackbird, Across the Universe, Norwegian wood ....
He had been married and had a child but Cynthia was not his soul mate. He found his soul mate in Yoko so he was saying it was the first time he was TRULY in love. Agree or disagree with his tastes it was his choice and he saw something in her he loved, I can totally respect that.
During the two weeks before the release of "The Beatles" (aka "White Album") the local FM station played the entire two LPs, without commercials or comment, every night during the two weeks. Then on the weekends they played all of it, randomly, intermixed with all their earlier recordings. That's one example of how massive "The Beatles" impact. When Lennon was murdered, that same FM station played nothing but "Beatles" 24/7 for several days. Unless one were alive and aware during their career one cannot know the extent of their impact on EVERYTHING. One can get an idea by watching their first three 1964 appearances on the "Ed Sullivan" show (these are available, complete, including commercials, on DVD). By the second show other performers were singing their songs, and the "comedians" were doing comedy about them. And it just GREW from there. "The Beatles" never peaked musically or in popularity, They consolidated at #1 in the world by mid-1965, and kept growing until they broke up. The best way to understand their evolution and growth is to begin at the beginning -- listen to their recordings from the beginning chronologically. They evolved so fast between records that one had no idea what to expect next. And they always surprised, and sometimes challenged, with their next release.
Do you believe they were removed from this roof because store owners and business men were saying they were disturbing the peace and interrupting their businesses yet everyone else was listening and enjoying it. They did let them finish the song but then they were removed because they say they didn’t have a permit to be up there but damn they were the famous Beetles they should have felt honored not angry! I grew up on them and their music is legend and amazing. Loved your reaction.
My favorite Beatles track ever is Paperback Writer just because the harmonies and the rocking bass line just jam a finger on the dopamine release button in my brain. Free as a Bird is probably my second favorite. It gets a degree of backlash because it was mastered 15 years after Lennon was murdered so Lennon’s vocals are only from a demo. I think it’s a beautiful song. Either would be great listens for you if you don’t know them. On hip-hop, I’d still love a reaction/breakdown of PM Dawn’s ‘Plastic’. Been asking off and on for a couple years, but I’m patient and you’re busy so all good. 😉
I'd definitely be up for more Beatles reactions. As you may be aware, this was from the famous free 'Rooftop Performance' and was their last public live gig together (they had to give up touring a few years earlier due to escalating Beatlemania-related insanity that made it a misery rather than a joy for them to play live), to concentrate on deeper studio experimentation, producing such masterpieces as Sergeant Pepper and Abbey Road. To get a feel of the whole span of band's years as recording artists, you might go next to an early live performance on Swedish TV, 1963, just as Beatlemania was beginning to blow out beyond the bounds of the UK and into Europe, before it hit the US in '64. You see the 'mop-top' boys - only about 6 years but also several lifetimes earlier in experiences - thrilling a young audience with their high energy pop tunes, ending with a classic screamer from Paul, channelling Little Richard in a knockout rendition of Long Tall Sally. (Unfortunately the first number, She Loves You, is blocked, but just scroll on past it to where the audio comes back.) Here, rock history comes alive. Then, I'd go to the other end, and listen to Side Two of Abbey Road, the last album they recorded. The whole side. Or you could just do 'the Medley', but I recommend the whole side. Don't try and pause after each track to comment, because the really great thing about this culmination of their recording career is the dreamlike journey it takes you on, like wandering through an enchanted castle, opening doors and peeping into different rooms, hearing snatches of strange and beautiful, hypnotic, sometimes silly, sometimes very human and heart-breaking music. If this initial toe-dipping exercise piques your interest, you might then want to fill in the space between those two poles with a chronological exploration of their albums and singles, or selections thereof, from 1962 to 1970, to track that extraordinary progression in more detail. If only able to do selections as reactions, maybe ask the audience if you need help deciding what are the unmissable tracks to listen to from each album and era. Or just listen to everything. There are many worse ways to spend a day or a few hours on this planet.
The police were fans ‘er Mr McCartney do you know how long you’ll be’. This was one of most expensive areas of London & Saville Row tailors were complaining. Billy Preston on keys.
I have watched this epic video of dont let me down so many times. I thought when they were laughing it was just them fucking around. lol just saw though from a short that John forgot some words and they all pissed themselves laughing
Yeah it seems times were simpler.. Way less stimuli from the outside world mainly, I think. But I'm sure it had it's own struggles as well. It's not all that hard to simplify your life in this day and age for most of us though. Lock that cell-phone away for a day or couple hours, unplug a couple apparatuses ;) See that the grass is still green and the water is still wet. Nice reaction, I enjoyed it!
you have begun at the end...this was their last live performance together.. You need to go right back to the early 60's and begin with I Wanna Hold Your Hand or She Loves You Yeah yeah yeah... and work your way forward. You will get a feel for their huge evolution over such a short number of years.
this is one of my all time favourites , it was recorded on the roof of the HMV store in London, and the police were trying to get them to stop playing , as there were complaints from other local businesses , how fucking crazy is that , they were getting a free live performance from probably the greatest band of all time . i love your channel Cliff , you a top bloke !
@guy Fairclough. You are INCORRECT! This was NOT recorded "on the roof of the HMV store in London"!! WHERE, I am wondering, did you hear that? It was on the roof of the BEATLES' APPLE OFFICES at 3 SAVILLE ROW in London, which is a district containing a lot of tailors and businesses.
I could be wrong but I believe it’s Billy Preston on the keys for this performance. A legend in his own right.
Yep, it was him. Unfortunately, they don't show much footage of him.
He gets his props in the movie though; he saved these sessions.
Definitely a true legend. 💯💯
I was told it was Liberace
Apparently, John wanted him to join the group.
You have to listen to the Beatles in chronological order. They didn't change with the times, they changed the times. There are The Beatles and then there is everybody else.
No band ever was.... or ever will be... cooler than the Beatles.
"Remember how I said I was out of my comfort zone ? Well they made me feel very comfortable" is one of the best quotes "I've heard about The Beatles .Love it.

Even at the stage when they couldn't stand each other, when they played the music, the love, the wonder, the happiness, was all there. Amazing.
When John sings the wrong line when George cracks up and Paul tries not to laugh is the best.
Icons.
They were so original and innovative.
Music changed FOREVER.
They revolutionised music.
It's hard to believe that I remember watching this as it happened live on TV in the kitchen when I was younger, they changed the World for a small moment in time, they even changed Russia with Beatle Music and songs, I love the annual gathering in new york I wish it was a moment in time we could freeze. A day in the Life is a Beatles masterpiece
They're true icons of the 20th century. And deserve their rightful place in the Pantheon of Music at the Altar

"I Want You (She's So Heavy)" is a mind blowing song.
It very much is . He should review that one along with come together!

Beautiful
This was their last performance, but the screaming would be, on their early '63 through '66 live performances.
It was a great time to be alive music was so different to what had been around for years.
Billy Preston was playing keyboard for the group (which was the last live performance they did). If you want to see screaming crowds, check out the concert at Shea Stadium.
Paul and John were twins. They really loved each other. So the cumplicity between them: look at their eyes.
This was the last time they performed live together. They were and always be THE GREATEST EVER! Enjoy the journey my friend. Check out Hey Jude Live. Fans on stage with them. WILD!
The whole rooftop concert is amazing!!!! So happy to see Beatles on here my man!

"Girls would literally faint in the audience." There wasn't a dry seat in the house.

"The Ed Sullivan Show" is a showcase for screamers.
Beatles videos are all over the place- think you may be be wrong there. Most bands are hot on copyright
Last performance together by the Beatle, Great choice for first song reaction
Keyboards were being played by the great Billy Preston (this song had literally never been played since they put it together until that roof...
My favourite album. I have them all (some original 60s) but I play this the most. The Two of Us
Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles
The girls screams at Beatle concerts was so loud they couldn’t hear each other play. That’s one of the reasons they stopped touring. Thanx Girls!
Yes: the fans drove them off the stage.
I hate screaming that drowns out performances
Double edged though. When they stopped touring they had the space and time to expand and explore their full creativity. Touring was horrible for them, the Studio was their playground.
Yes please more Beatles. Loved this one
The rabbit hole runs deep and so worth it. I hope you're doing great and everyone is having a good week. -Amber

Billy Preston on keyboards. He was barely shown in the beginning of the video. R I P Billy
A Day In the Life next by the Beatles 🔥
More Beatles, please! If I Fell
Billy Preston is on the keys. His conribution to the Beatles has been praised in the recent film-documentary on the Beatles.
Ayy! 🤟 Beatles 😍
🤟👅🤟🙌🙌
Billy Preston on the electric piano. You can spot him right behind McCartney in the closing shot.
See Peter Jackson's "Get Back" for the full story.
The white Album!!!
He had been married and had a child but Cynthia was not his soul mate. He found his soul mate in Yoko so he was saying it was the first time he was TRULY in love. Agree or disagree with his tastes it was his choice and he saw something in her he loved, I can totally respect that.
One of my favorite songs.
Definitely check out more Beatles! I’d suggest “Something” it’s probably the greatest love song ever written!
"Tomorrow Never Knows", is a banger.
Billy Preston was playing keys!!!! he played on several Beatles songs ! he was also consider the 5th Beatles
More Beatles please 😎 thanks 👍
So glad you tapped into the Beatles you need to check out Strawberry Fields or Hey Jude both real good songs
I love love 💕 this
Do you believe they were removed from this roof because store owners and business men were saying they were disturbing the peace and interrupting their businesses yet everyone else was listening and enjoying it. They did let them finish the song but then they were removed because they say they didn’t have a permit to be up there but damn they were the famous Beetles they should have felt honored not angry! I grew up on them and their music is legend and amazing. Loved your reaction.
Their very last concert, on the roof top❤❤❤Billy Preston on keyboards.
the perfect song for a retro girl like me!
THANK YOU
Please react to "Let It Be". Its an incredible song. Make sure you bring the tissues.
Beatles are the best band ever!
This was lovely Cliff. I enjoyed it with you.😊💗
The "Fifth" Beatle Billy Preston is on the keyboards, unfortunately you only see a tiny glimpse of him. Great reaction! 👍👍👍
The incredible Billy Preston on keys!!
The police were fans ‘er Mr McCartney do you know how long you’ll be’. This was one of most expensive areas of London & Saville Row tailors were complaining. Billy Preston on keys.
The best of times ❤
I have watched this epic video of dont let me down so many times.
I thought when they were laughing it was just them fucking around. lol just saw though from a short that John forgot some words and they all pissed themselves laughing
John wrote the song about Yoko Ono and their relationship. This is the last time the Beatles performed live as the Beatles.
Fire reaction man 🔥
Yeah it seems times were simpler..
That’s what turning up does
Great reaction 👍 you mentioned Ozzy- don't overlook Dio 🤘
Twist & Shout !!
What up cliff beats 😎👍
It's so cool
I would love a bar breakdown of Scroobius pip introdiction, but I do love the beatles also so also do more of them
this is one of my all time favourites , it was recorded on the roof of the HMV store in London, and the police were trying to get them to stop playing , as there were complaints from other local businesses , how fucking crazy is that , they were getting a free live performance from probably the greatest band of all time . i love your channel Cliff , you a top bloke !
@@patticrichton1135 Yes I know, I don't know why I said it was the hmv store, maybe dementia is creeping up on me 🤣🤣.
Billy Preston was on keyboards, he was shown for a second in this video with a police man behind him!!!👍👍👌👌✌✌😁😁
I suggest The Beatles’ live version of Revolution. Thanks.
To step further outside of your comfort zone check out Led Zeppelin like....When the Levee breaks or Since I've been loving you
