My first time ever hearing Abbey Road by The Beatles! (1987 CD version)

- This was my first time EVER listening to Abbey Road. I had only ever heard Come Together and Here Comes The Sun. I'm not a huge fan of The Beatles, but I don't dislike them lol. So I thought I would film a reaction to my first time hearing this iconic, historic album.
After editing this video so many times, I actually do really like a lot of the songs on the album. I'm gonna give them another listen for sure.
This was the 1987 CD which has the ideal master and pacing, (apparently).
Let me know if I should do any more album reactions. I think I know how to edit a music-based video without having copyright issues now after this... hopefully
Thanks for watching!

"Post 1969, every rock song is the son of a Beatles song." - Mike Pachelli
Yep
It's amazing the number of people who don't hear anything "different" in "The Beatles" because the "Beatles" innovations opened the door for all that followed -- they set the standard, and no one since has equaled them.
Same here. It makes me laugh when people call them “generic” when they were literally the first ones. Like when people hear Hendrix and say things like Kirk Hammett or some metal dude is better. The Beatles were the blueprint for modern pop and rock.
It's like the guy who routinely puts new wheels on his car and has no appreciation for the guy who actually INVENTED the wheel!
I have often had same argument with my brother. He thinks The Rolling Stones were/are better. he doesn't understand the Stones wouldn't have done what they had, if the Beatles didn't do what they did.
@@jaymes7521 Your brother wouldn't have heard of "The Rolling Stones" if "The Beatles" hadn't kicked the door down for all that followed -- and told "Ed Sullivan" to book them.
@@jnagarya519 Damn right.
Sometime around 1968 (I was 13 then), my older brother asked me who the top three bands were. I said "The Rolling Stones, the Who, and the Doors." He asked, "What about The Beatles?" I looked at him with a quizzical look on my face. Of course, the Beatles, but they were so far beyond anyone else that they defied classification.
FYI: The Beatles completely influenced Pink Floyd! In 1967, they came into the studio and listened to them recording their masterpiece Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Pink Floyd borrowed lots of The Beatles' recording technique and style.
They saw some of it on a day both bands were recording at Abbey Road Studios. It isn't like they had tea or anything though.
I hear they may have had tea, too!
@@porflepopnecker4376 There's always a good cuppa involved!
Alan Parson was the assistant engineer in the studio in 1969. You know who he is...
Sometimes you just don't get into a song the first time you hear it; not every song is like the Beatles' "Yesterday", but for me as an old bloke in his eigth decade all I can say is how the Beatles made my life better and still do.👍🇬🇧
The whole LP isn't like "Oh Darling" because "The Beatles" didn't repeat themselves.
This is true, so many songs yet no two were the same, incredible, no other band has matched this let alone their innovations in recording and showing that anything can be done and they were really good an catchy.
Also she has a boring music tastes. Oh darling is one of the least inventive tracks on the album.

The Abbey Road medley is one of the most iconic music events in history. Abbey Road is so good all over it.
Maybe learn what the word "iconic" means. You kids keep using it incorrectly.
@@docsavage8640 Kids? It's not iconic? Then what is iconic?
The separate bits of the so-called "medley" were played separately, then edited together. It was not played straight through.
@@jnagarya519 Incorrect. Almost all of the backing tracks were played live as a medley.
There were a couple of edits but the concept of the medley was planned, rehearsed and recorded as a complete take.
@@gerrycoogan6544 I have a bootleg of it: each fragment -- because that's what they are -- was recorded separately.
The abrupt ending to I Want You (She's so Heavy) was because it was the end of side 1 of the album. It served as your cue to get up and turn the album over.
OOOOOH that’s so cool actually! A remaining element from vinyls that’s awesome
Thank you for that insight!
@@dulcetghost Another missing element from the vinyls: Side 1 was "normal" with distinct songs; side 2 was the medley, which (just like with you) knocked out people's expectations.
Yes, and making a quiet space between the last song on side 1 and the first song on side 2 was really part of the experience. Completely lost subsequently on cd etc. Carelessness and Digital are doing a lot of damage to our cultural heritage.
Actually, John Lennon deliberately cut the end of the tape to get the reaction that everyone has when they hear it. Remember this album came out when 8 track cassette players were the standard car and home tape player. And they were notorious for eating your tapes!
The reason why "the end" is called like that, is because people who had this album on vinyl would stop the album during the pause at the end, thinking it's over. "Her majesty" is kinda like a secret-suprise track 😅
'Something' is considered the greatest love song ever by many and 'Here there and everywhere' a close second.
There are lots of so called "greatest love song" , it is foolish to name one. Something is a great song but not even the best love song by the Beatles.

Yes!!! That's what she missed...no one wants an album of similarly sounding songs.
The Beatles inspired everyone from the 60s till now. But the true experience would be if you were born in that era . Beatles influenced everything!
I disagree with being born in the era. I'm probably younger than she is and can definitely get the true experience of the beatles.
@cunt320 I can understand that. But although I'm 66 years old, and that kind of sucks, I wouldn't give up growing up in the 60s for anything. It was more than their music. It was the sight, sound, and even taste in the air. An excitement unrivaled in the decades after.
. @JillVALENTINE320 The 60's were my teen years and living through that era was a different experience than listening to the Beatles 50 years later. I'm sure you and other young people can be very appreciative of their artistry.
But it wasn't just their music. Yes, they changed/grew their music throughout the decade, leading the artform through a maturing of the rock genre. Each new album seemed to inspire other artists to follow their lead. But for us Boomer fans, they influenced us in cultural change - hair, clothing, politics, etc. And we didn't tire of them - we anticipated each new album for their next innovation.
@@bckelley1 That's the difference: they were the center and cutting edge of the music. But they also changed everything outside music.
Imagine their every LP being #1 on BOTH the AM radio LP and Singles charts, because every track of every LP was played on the radio, to which listeners responded with requests.
Imagine walking through a neighborhood in Summer, 1967 and hearing "Sgt. Pepper's" coming out of EVERY window.
Imagine the major FM radio station, WBCN, playing the entire "The Beatles" (all four sides) without commercials or other interruptions except to announce the next of the four sides to be played. And doing that every weekday night for two weeks before the LP was released.
And then on those weekends playing all the tracks from that LP randomly, mixed with earlier "Beatles" tracks.
And "The Beatles" never peaked: they kept evolving, and growing, and getting LARGER -- which is BIGGER than HUGE -- until they broke up.
@@jnagarya519 I love this comment.
Basically, you had to BE there to truly appreciate how massively The Beatles impacted and influenced an entire generation of people who were prepared to reach out to great art and allow it to expand their appreciation of life's possibilities.
The silly girl who is reacting to this album simply doesn't have the capacity to dig into how profoundly this musical culture affected a more intelligent generation which had an attention span of more than fifteen seconds.
The Beatles were so great cause their ability to experiment, see variety and push innovation like no other band. And of course their talent as musicians and composers.
"Abbey Road" was released in September, 1969. "The Beatles" opened the door for ALL THAT FOLLOWED.
Its true. The Beatles were the trail blazers, while other artists tried to keep up !
In case you didn't know, Abbey Road was that last album that the Beatles recorded together.
I bought all the albums as they came out in 1987, and I can tell you, the later remasters sounded clearer. Early CD's just don't sound as good as newer CD's. Now the remixed versions I would stay away from. There are slight differences from the original versions, but they all sound great. I've bought them all, from original albums on vinyl to the MOBILE FIDELITY Original Master Recordings vinyl from 1983, to all versions of CD's. Enjoy.
That's how the Beatles sounded in 1969. The Let It Be album was recorded in early 69, then Abbey Road. They were done after that. A year earlier, they made the White Album. One of the most influential albums ever.
The Beatles have written so much music.
So there is so much to listen to.
The medley on side 2 has reached the pinnacle of Beatles recordings history. Even though Lennon has said he thought much of the album was throwaway garbage, it is The Beatles' swan song. When they sung "The End" they knew it was the end of the band and they wanted to go out on a high note. Abbey Road achieved that.
John was not a fan of "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" and I agree, it comes close to sounding like a tune for children.
@@treetopjones737 "Yellow Submarine" was a song for children. What's wrong with that? Anyone else writes songs for children and there's no puzzlement.
@@treetopjones737 And yet, while they were making this album, Paul was bringing in songs such as "Maybe I'm Amazed" and "Come And Get It" while George offered up classics like "All Things Must Pass" and "Isn't A Pity", none of which John was interested in working on.
John can moan all he likes about having to work on "granny songs" such as "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" but what was he bringing to the party instead?
During the Get Back sessions, Paul was offering classics such as "Let It Be", "The Long And Winding Road", "Get Back" and George was throwing in the likes of "For You Blue", "Isn't It A Pity" and "I, Me Mine". John was producing next to nothing apart from "Don't Let Me Down" (which was going nowhere after days of John's farting about. Then Paul took command of it and made it a classic. Meanwhile John eventually coughed up the vacuous filler track called "Dig A Pony".
John was just jealous and lazy.
Paul was ambitious and hard-working and John couldn't or wouldn't rise to the challenge of matching him (unlike in the early years when John wrote most of the A-sides of the hit singles.)
"Maxwell's Silver Hammer" isn't the greatest moment in the history of The Beatles but it's a million times better than the "Two Virgins" or "Life With The Lions" utter shite which John was putting out as "art" at that time.
@@jnagarya519 I agree!! I get annoyed when people "rag" on "Yellow Submarine," "Octopuses Garden" or "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" and think they are just children's songs. SO WHAT? Other than "Yellow Submarine" the other two weren't. The Beatles could be light hearted and also loved to have fun with some of their songs. That was the beauty of The Beatles, there was always something for EVERYONE.
@@gerrycoogan6544 Across the Universe? Everybody had a hard year?
Good honest review. The Beatles music is different in many ways and very diversified. The more you listen to it, the more you will understand it, and generally the more you will like it. Many younger reactors are not familiar with the way The Beatles are able to make different transitions within a song, which they are masters at, but once they get used to it they love it. Also, uninterrupted listening with headphones on with reveal the musical magic they include in their songs. That being said, some don't like transitions and some only like harder rock, so they will never appreciate a good percentage of The Beatles catalog. Hope you will be able to listen to more of their catalog, especially Rubber Soul onward.
Thank you! I will definitely listen through the rest of their catalogue now. I’ll try to do it with headphones next time to get that better sound. Thank you for the tip!
@dulcetghost Do some srooms, and listen to Tomorrow Never Knows with headphones. Life will never be the same afterwards.
You might appreciate the newer remixes (youtube!) if you're listening on headphones. As has already been said the originals were mixed for lo-fi record players and radio. The average person did not have headphones in the 60's.
Hell, listen to all the Beatles songs in every way possible! Life is long.✌
@@dulcetghost I think you will eventually like/love their music or at least appreciate how diverse their music is. It doesn't hurt to broaden your horizons in music even more. Just think of how you will have more to choose from depending on your mood.
"Something" was considered by Frank Sinatra as the greatest love song ever written. It was a big hit for Shirley Bassey and was also covered by Elvis Presley, Ray Charles and Smokey Robinson (all legends in popular music). Interesting to see others' reactions - we all feel music in different ways. The Beatles really were revolutionary and creative.
Oddly enough, Sinatra referred to Something as his favorite Lennon and McCartney song.
@@lurx2024 He assumed it was a Lennon-McCartney song because it was a Beatles song. Later on in his career, after he'd been better advised, he introduced the song in his live shows as a song by "George Harrison of The Beatles."
Oddly enough, Frank and George became personal friends and George stayed at Sinatra's house as a very welcome guest on a number of occasions.
Also covered very nicely by Joe Cocker!!
Appreciate your honesty! Good video.
As a singer/songwriter/audio engineer, I can assure you that the digital form of the "Abbey Road: 50th Anniversary Edition," which came out in 2019, is the best that album can possibly ever sound. Nothing else comes close.
Definitely the remixes that Giles did are great
Very good video. I liked your add on at the end and your honesty throughout..

Listen to the album with your eyes closed and with headphones and listen (Sun King) to the far away crickets as the music gets louder and louder as if you are walking up to a building and then opening the door. Listen as the music and guitars go left to right in your brain and then right to left. It was mind blowing at the time.
This was so chaotic and perfect. Well done.

George Benson's "The Other Side of Abbey Road" is a cover of "Abbey Road." It's very jazzy, and is very much worth a listen.

Nice job. You commented a few times why can't the whole album be like this? With the Beatles ALL their songs are so different, they had no "genre" that is what made them what they were, still the greatest selling band by far. I don't think even the Beatles liked hearing their own music on modern day stereo speakers I think George Harrison sed something in a interview like their music is is meant to be listened to in mono sound playing out of a lofi sounding record player depending on how you listen to their music can make all the difference
Yes. George Martin remarked how amazed he was that the Beatles never repeated themselves. I mean, 13 albums in 7 1/2 years? No one will ever do that again with the quality the Beatles maintained.

Listen to the (any) album 3 times before you make up your mind. At the end of the third listen, you will know if it's for you. With the first listen, listen to the music. Second listen, read the lyrics. Third time, listen to both. You may change your mind. One listen just won't do. (just heard your final thoughts.) Works every time.

Every album is quite different, especially starting with "Rubber Soul." Many consider "Revolver," the album preceding "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," to be their best. For someone not growing up during that time, it's almost impossible to understand how revolutionary, impactful, and influential they were. There are magazines that even include them in their lists of the greatest events in human history, editors thereof, obviously headed by baby boomers.
I can see that for sure. There must have been some kind of divine intervention that made The Beatles come into being. I really wish I could have grown up during that time!

Glad you were honest. The Beatles inspired much of what came later. They have a lot of number one hits and many famous songs. And now I just heard your addition at the end. Which makes this Beatles loving heart feel better.
Yes, Beatles influence lots of music including Pink Floyd and Queen. The multi-part songs on the second half of Abbey Road started even further back on the 1967 Sgr Pepper song "A Day in a Life". Go back to earlier Beatles album like Revolver and Sgt Pepper and you''ll hear their influences on many future pop and progressive music.
To be fair. 'Tommy' beat them on the connected theme by about 4 months.
The Beatles influenced basically everything after them.
Sounding like Pink Floyd.... yeah...like Pink Floyd sounded 4 years later... and that's the problem with young people commenting on the Beatles. It's never in the context of what was around at the time. There were always bands doing things more extreme than the Beatles, yet they were always on the forefront. Everyone wanted to know what they would do next.
@@johnstegmeier3758 If Pink Floyd was influenced, cool. But their biggest albums sound nothing like The Beatles. Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall are very unique. Most of the songs on side 2 are a medley. They move one to the other with no breaks. This was a first for the Beatles and not common with any rock band in the 60s. It like a precursor of the rock opera.
Some many of these reviewers don’t listen to side 2 as a medley which is essential.!
David Gilmour has done a lot of collaborations with Paul McCartney over the years, starting in the 70s up to the 2000s. They even made an album and live dvd together with Run Devil Run. On numerous occasions he's called The Beatles 'geniuses'. That says a lot coming from a musician like him.
Thumbs up for the review! I used to dislike The Beatles when I was younger, but as soon as I started to learn to play instruments and, because of that, gained a better understanding of their music, they have now been one of my favorite bands for a long time. And songs that used to be favorites are still being shuffeled around for other ones out of their massive collection, repetitive listening will make you discover all the nuances. And yes, with headphones...
Growing up in the 60s, the Beatles were the 60s! I have listened to all of their albums thousands of times over the decades and get something new from them every time. Abbey Road, in particular, is like a drug addiction -the more you listen to it, the more you want to listen to every single note!
The Beatles are like peeling back an onion...it's incredible how many layers there are in their music and their story. The best way to APPRECIATE The Beatles is to examine them in their own time and understand their journey as it unfolded, all the while being conscious of the music of the time. You really can't begin to understand their impact judging their music by everything that has come since. They paved the way in a MAJOR way regarding the entire industry. They developed organically and untrained. Incredibly clever, inventive buggers.
Also, as is true with most music as voluminous as the Beatles catalog, there is an acclimation period. Certain songs have to sink in, sometimes after repeated listens. I've found many times that songs that didn't grab me the first few listens ended up being favorites. Also, ponder this one. The time span between recording their first album and their last was about 6 1/2 years. THAT is unfathomable and will never happen again. Explosive!

Abbey Road was the last recorded Beatles Album, that's why it's special.
you had to grow up with the beatles to know how good they were.every tune has a surprise of some type either instruments or vocals or a unique hook. genius.
I've found I really need to listen to an album twice before I really know how I feel about it. My first time hearing Elton John's "Captain Fantastic" I was not really blown away like I was with "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road". But after the second time... Wow!!!
I see your added commentary, heard after I finished typing the above, seems to maybe have come to a similar conclusion.
Abbey Road is my favourite album. It's hard to imagine listening to it for the first time. I bought it when I was 10-12 yrs old (maybe), and it took me some time to get into it. At that time I only bought Beatles albums (and my older brother bought them too - till we had them all), and I probably only bought 3 a year. So when I got a Beatles album, I'd hammer it. Basically Abbey Road took the longest to get into and gave the most back. It's weird to think now that most people will only hear something once or twice and decide it's not for them. Incidentally, it took me some time to get into OK Computer, but it was one of the few tapes I had in my car at the time. First album I bought was Sgt Pepper, purely because they didn't have Help, which I'd heard on a tape from the library (can you even imagine such a time?). My favourite song at that point I think was Another Girl, though The Night Before I also liked a lot. Probably not in my top 50 Beatles songs nowadays, but I still like them. The White Album is also often my favourite album - it switches with Abbey Road
If you don't get it I get that. I started listening to the Beatles in '64 when I was 11 and listened to them for 6 more years until they broke up in 1970. The music that they produced played on the radio and it was the the soundtrack of my teenage years along with everyone else I knew. They grew musically and so did I as each new album came out. We listened to this music and lived with it for years. So we kind of hoped and thought that it would never stop but then in '69 it did and it was like loosing a friend. Now you can go to a store and buy all the albums and listen to them in a week. We lived with this music and listened to it and waited months or years for the next album. So I guess my point is you had to live with this music and experience all the wild stuff that was going on while this music was being made. It really reflected the times but those times are gone now. So for someone of your generation it's like someone showing you a faded photo of some forgotten time and trying to explain what was happening at that time from just that old photo. It's like listening to the soundtrack to great movie but without the movie itself. It's just not the same.
Wow thank you for this comment! You described it very well I think I understand now why so many people love The Beatles so much. Next time I listen to their music, I’ll be thinking of this. Thank you! I can see the photo a little better now
This album is an example of why I still buy physical media. You Never Give Me Your Money through Bathroom Window are essentially one suite and Golden Slumbers through The End are a second, but each portion gets a track. In fact portions of each medley were in fact recorded together as one song but simply listed separately on the track listing. When they are played on the radio though, they are played as the medleys (some stations paly both medleys straight through as one whole song instead of two songs.. or eight songs).
ITunes has a feature that when you rip a CD into your music library, you can join tracks so suites can be played as intended. It was a feature probably intended for classical music, but there are so many songs in rock that are multiple tracks that are almost always played together as one song. Just off the top of my head:
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band-With a Little Help From My Friends, also by the Beatles
Happiest Days of Our Live-Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd
Empty Spaces-Young Lust, also by Pink Floyd
Moving in Stereo-All Mixed Up by The Cars
Brain Stew-Jaded by Green Day
Heartbreaker-Living Loving Maid by Led Zeppelin
We Will Rock You-We Are The Champions by Queen
I really enjoyed your reaction. Maybe do another album
David lynch loved the beatles and talks about them
I was 10 when The Beatles were on Ed. The first movie I ever saw was; "A Hard Days Night". I grew up with the Beatles defining the world. I have every album they ever made....now hanging on my wall. At 70+ yrs now, I often weep as I watch others enjoy listening to "The Beatles".... grateful I got to hear their music right out of the sleeve. They were incredible...and oh so special. With each one's passing, my heart breaks and weeps. I'm so glad the younger generations are still enjoying The Lads from LIverpool. Peace....!
Yes, they pretty much invented or formulated the genres that were the jumping off points for all those later bands and artists you love. You'll find very few of the great musical acts of the 70s that didn't get inspired in the first place by the Beatles to take up music, and to experiment with all the possibilities they heard in their ever-evolving, ground-breaking music.
As Brian May (of Queen) put it, "The Beatles opened the doors and we all just walked through."
The Beatles set the trend for every band that came after them.
The Beatles are all over pop culture with a million covers and originals stuck in commercials and movies. The later albums still give a lot of surprises and you would have never heard before.
Do their whole catalogue (13 albums, plus a collection that gathers their singles and other stray tracks) I GUARANTEE you will never regret it. 🙂
This was fun to watch :). I enjoyed how many times you said, "I like this!" - more than you realized. The Beatles were very influential on the bands you mentioned - and many others. And for side 2, those songs were grouped together on purpose. We often call them "The medleys". It was Paul's idea to combine them - and he did the same thing with a few songs when he was with "Wings".
Thank you! I really like some of the songs I’ve heard from Wings as well. I’ll have to listen to them more for sure!
@@dulcetghost If you haven't already heard it - Live and Let Die is one of their best!
Love it you should do more beatles! I love hearing the opinion of people who arnt into the beatles because so many people are.
I liked the honest review. The importance of The Beatles can never really be overstated, but aside from that, they're just really really good too. I think it would be neat if you gave 'The White album' a review/reaction. It's an incredible double album that has a little bit of everything for everyone-- their diverse songwriting prowess is on full display. Slight disclaimer: the album can get a tad weird (that's a plus to some of us though).
Thank you!! I’ll definitely listen to The White Album and I’ll think about filming a reaction to it too :)
After listening to your final comments, I am happy that you listened to this legendary album again. Cause it is awesome!
The Beatles were truly ahead of their time, and inspired many other bands.
after your thoughts on maxwell's Silver Hammer I was so "oh wait for the Octopus" hahahahahah
Love this…what mic and camera are you using in your car ?
Thank you! The mic was just the one in the camera and the camera is an Olympus Pen E-PL9. It’s a pretty good camera and definitely gets the job done with good audio, & great contrast and color in the image, however a downfall is that the selfie camera flips down rather than to the side or above. I don’t know why that is and it’s been difficult for vlogging on tripods and also in the car like this video because I can’t see the viewfinder. So it’s got pros and cons but has done me well for about 3 years now.
@@dulcetghost awesome! Thank you for your reply. Love your content !
Abbey Road is on many lists in the top 3 albums of all time probably up with Thriller and Dark Side of the Moon. What is worth noting is that after Let It Be The Beatles were as good as broken up and hated each other, but they got their shit together to do one last record despite their differences and gave us the magnificent Abbey Rd. This is the height of professionalism in any industry.
I have listened to this album 100's of times. It is one of my favorites, and I Love it!
You hit everything I thought you would like.
Interesting reactions! Your final comment got you a thumbs up from me.
Many of their albums were played in one sitting and then played again and again. It takes time to absorb all the details they put in, and invented.
No two Beatles albums sound the same! They grew and grew in quality and inventiveness!
The songs that are “going and going” is their medley. Originally it was called the long one, as a 10 minute song. And a little fun fact, in the song “the end” all Beatles play a solo, starting with Ringo playing a drum solo, John starts the guitar solo and then George and the Paul.
The White Album might appeal more to you . Sprawling double album with loads of stuff on it .
Roger Waters said that the Beatles, during their SGT's Peppr's Album, were god-like to the young Pink Floyd, because the Beatles were creating sounds never heard before, in 67... So, Roger Waters and David Gilmore are definetly fans of the Beatles, they've always been and still are! Oh, I loved this reaction and also I loved the connection with the book!
Thank you!! This is great insight into Pink Floyd, thank you for sharing :)
@@dulcetghost Fan Fact: the title of last song, Her Majesty, didn't appear on the back cover of the first edition as a track, so the song The End was actually the last one that you could read of the album. The was a ghost song. So nobody was expecting that song would played 'at the end'. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Her_Majesty_(song)
He also said without John, George and paul he wouldn't have started to write about life and society.
I think it'd be fun to give a try to the earlier Beatles album like A Hard Day's Night, Help or Rubber Soul... Even if probably the White Album is more for your taste!
@@B.R.0101 she should start with their first album "Please Please Me" and work her way chronologically as they were released and as WE heard them, those of us who were there . THAT will be the ONLY way she can see how their music evolved and progressed in such a short amount of time. It's silly to skip around their catalogue out of order, or to totally skip entire albums. To me it's like reading a novel by starting in the middle, or at the end of the book. Missing the plot development which starts at the beginning.
It’s funny that you mention “ Pink Floyd “ because they were also recording at the same time as the Beatles at Abbey Road Studios . And the sound engineer Allen Parson worked on this album & Dark Side of the Moon .
Hey. Great job on your review. Beatles fans can be tough and very opinionated( myself included)
If you liked a few of the songs
it's worth going back and starting with them from the beginning... every song on every album is different. They evolved so much from one album to the next that it makes real fun listening to go back start at the beginning and go on that journey with them just like the whole world did at the time. Abbey road was their last album as a band. By the time you get back I bet it would sound very different.
There's heavier darker stuff on some of the earlier albums. Likewise each member has their own voice
Roughly speaking .. Ringo up beat and silly John darker and heavier Paul with the ballads and jazzy stuff
And George with his unique stuff that I vibe. Lots of albums. So many songs. You wondered why they sound like other bands.
Beatles first.. EVERYONE else after
One you realize that you can hear their influence in just about everything it seems
And bonus, being young and skeptical and new to the beatles means lots of content and a huge ready made audience..lots of views and subscribers that want to watch their favorite band win you over. Start at the beginning.
"Please Please me"
And slowly make your way through all the way back to Abbey Road
( Then" Let it be" which came out after they broke up.)
Keep up the good work. You'll be at 1000 subs in no time
thank you😀
When listening to the Beatles you will start to recognize that they hane different stages to their musical development. Different eras so to speak. And there is quite a drastic change from the music on their first album to Abby Road which was actually their last recorded album, although it was released before their second to last recording LET IT BE
Just remember when you listen to The Beatles they pretty much were the template for the rock and roll music we listen to today.
Yes I kind of started to understand that for the first time ever while listening to this album. Since I’d never really listened to them before except for the hits, I didn’t know how much they really influenced music today. I respect The Beatles a lot for that
Do more album reactions please loved this video it’s so fun to see albums I love get a first listen from someone else I highly recommend Genesis The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway it’s my favorite album probably I think you’d like too
MORE ALBUM REVIEWS!
You have a rare opportunity. Don't miss it. Start at the beginning of their catalog and work your way through it. Hear the evolution.
i am 75 now and have the original LP which i listen to all my life ? cant be beat
For a moment, don't think in the music itself, but in the overwhelming creativity of these 4 individuals. Lucky to have live this time and heard them creating the most amazing music in human history.
You know how those songs grew on you because they have a knack for creating catchy Melodie’s? They do it with every album and their many singles. Over 200 times in only 6.5 years of recording together. Artists today are lazy.
Also this album set the template for the 70s. The Moogs introduction into pop music is on here comes the sun.
Nice! I’ll be giving their other albums a listen for sure. I’m starting to understand The Beatles hype a bit more
get rid of the superiority complex my god! music is the best it's ever been there's so many great modern artists the beatles are great but why be snobby about it?
I bought all my Beatles albums in the seventies and some reissues in the past 15 years and I am glad to have taken care of them they are in pristine condition.
"Why isn't the whole album like this? This is good." Every Beatles album and song shows their versatility. In the 7 years and 7 months together The Beatles had 20 No. 1 hits, and 34 Top 10 hits. All total, they wrote 213 songs which equals a new song less than every 2 weeks! What other group was as prolific?
A good reaction here😊
i love how you didn’t realise the transition between golden slumbers and carry that weight 😭 i understand though cus it’s such a smooth transition between the drums ✌️
Always get the CD!
"Albums matter. CDs matter." -Prince
Okay, i get it that you're not really a Beatles person but i like the fact that you were honest enough to share your true thoughts and feelings with all of us f-ing peasants out here in cyberland. What i like about your video is that ABBEY ROAD grew on you and that you liked it better and better the more you played it. That says more about The BEATLES and their last record than anybody else could ever hope to say.
So you really need to check out the Joe Cocker version of "she came in through the bathroom window". The greatness of this album, IMO, is in seeing where each individual Beatle had evolved to in their creativity! It was also a portent to not only the end of the Beatles, but the end of the innocence of the sixties. One of the things us Beatles fans love is that, after 1965, you couldn't just hear a song and say "that sounds like a Beatles song". Very diverse, moody, bluesy, silly, experimental...! This album influenced future artists in so many genres. I liked the honesty of your analysis and subscribed to see how your show evolves! Good job, keep it up! PS- In Canada we have many great bands but the one that is least known around the world is "The Tragically Hip" I always like to drop that one on pundants like yourself. If you decide to check them out start w/ "New Orleans is Sinking"(song) or "Up to Here" (album)
The medley is extremely famous especially Goldem Slumbers/carry that weight/The End. Something is extremely famous, comsidered the greatest love song ever. I want you is fairly famous and so are all the songs😂
The Beatles were extremely innovative in their time.
This album is basically just all the little parts of songs they had left as they knew it would be their last.
I enjoyed this video very much.
For all the important historical context, you're still you, young and listening to music made over 50 years ago, today, in 2023.
Listen, in your own fashion and maybe with your very nice voice you'll find yourself singing some Beatles songs.
Frank Sinatra was particularly impressed with "Something", calling it "the greatest love song of the past 50 years" and did a cover himself. Beatles pioneered the concept of concept album, the reason why not every single song in the album sounds the same and might not stand out on their while playing individually, hence they are to be listened as whole, to get a comprehensive sound and feel. The Beatles taught the world that the purpose of an Album is to take you on a journey. Dark Side of the moon, The Wall are the aftermath of Beatles' influence.
You got it. They changed everything. They don’t sound like the albums you know. The albums you know sound like them. Also listening on a car stereo is not ideal.
Yeah I hope to get a good sound system some day
What albums do you listen to ?
trash apparently.
