As a Beatles-obsessed friend of mine told me (and I've read in many other sources too), Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was actually about/inspired by a drawing that Lennon's son made as a child depicting his friend Lucy. The LSD "initials" were coincidental, it was not intended to be about the drug.
Sakura4anime25 When I was in first grade, listening to Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and Strawberry Fields Forever felt like a dreamy, nostalgic song.
I think this double meaning has passed through John's mind and he liked it
John had a son? Makes his death all the more sad 😔
I think that's a running joke. I'm pretty sure its about the drug
Tallulah Belle John has two sons. Julien with his first wife, and Sean with Yoko. Julien was the one who’s photo inspired Lucy in the Sky.
Another fact:
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was such a big hit that even Jimi Hendrix was amazed and decided to cover it two days after, with the Jimi Hendrix Experience.
Except, of course, it wasn't a hit at that moment. OK, it was a hit from pre-orders and first day sales but he covered it from first hearing
Whats crazy about Jimi Hendrix, is that he is the first to litrarlly learn the song in just in 2 days
its quite impressive really...
this was a nice episode. Instead of the usual "watch us shock these elders" tropes, it was more about nostalgia and storytelling. Really nice.

"When I'm Sixty-Four" was actually written by Paul McCartney when he was a teenager, before The Beatles. He might have been with John Lennon with The Quarrymen at the time. It might have been the first song Paul ever wrote.

My grandma was a young adult when the Beatles got big and she was a massive fan, so are my mother and I despite us being born after the band broke up. Sometimes I get sad thinking about how something like the Beatles will never happen again, and the fact that I unfortunately just came too late to witness it. But at the same time, I’m glad that it happened in the first place.
exactly how i feel (im 22)
I was born in 1973... I grew up with this group with my parents... The older I got the more I appreciate their music. I am almost 50 now... and they were the best band ever.... and always will be ... LOVE THE BEATLES
Born 1955, oldest of 4, no TV, I mostly missed them and was then too for school about the big name 1960s groups until about 1999 when my 12-year old daughter first heard my CD of Sgt Pepper. She turned me onto The Beatles. Now she's programming her 5-month old baby to love them!
What an amazing band. They had so many amazing songs and albums! I'll for ever love the beatles

"A Day In The Life" is probably their masterpiece. Powerful song.
Agreed, one of my favorites.
Depends how you define 'masterpiece'. If you mean their single best recording, you have a case, though many would debate it. If you mean in comparison with other artistes, then they produced many masterpieces
I just love to see the smile on their faces, and how happy and nostalgic they are when they listen 😭😻
“That beat. That rhythm. Beatles.”
Yes. Beatle rhythm.
This really warmed my heart they all were so happy listening to the album it's crazy how times have changed like shoot I remember my grandpa telling me when he was 7 he saw the "Wizard Of Oz" in color and he said that it was the coolest thing he ever saw and that him and his friends were amazed and I'm like I would never think twice about a movie being in color because it's just normal now but ya it's just crazy

Stupid take. John Lennon was the creative force behind the Beatles. Whatever he wrote was the direction the Beatles went even when paul "took leadership" paul was just trying to catch up lol. John wrote strawberry fields, tomorrow never knows, dear prudence, across the universe, all you need is love, dont let me down and I am the walrus. Paul wrote yesterday and fool on the hill and what else? Why dont we do it in the road? Which obviously could've been replaced with a harrison song. Paul McCartney has even said between the friendly "rivalry" john obviously won. lollll

Catherine is a legit fan of The Beatles
I feel happy, sad, nostalgic... & I wasn't even alive in the 60's. The Beatles just transcend space & time.
I love sitting down and listening to elders tell stories from when they were younger, it brings me so much joy.😇❤️
How can anyone not love this album? It's pure magic! No one was doing what The Beatles did. They did more to influence and progress popular music than anyone else. I'm 68 and still have and play my vinyl Beatles albums.

Catherine represents me.

She represents all of us when we will be old someday siting in a old vintage cushion chair holding sgt peppers in our hands and being philosophical about life
i honestly got really emotional when it started, because the beatles are my favourite band, and my first albun was sgt.peppers. when they were singing along with the songs i got so emotional, i mean, if this albun is so important to me now, imagine how important it was when it was realised, imagine the impact, and they show the impact it made in their lifes abd i just feel really happy that the beatles were so important to a lot of people beside me
It makes me so happy to see how happy they are listening to The Beatles awww
in 1972 I was in grade 2 and during lunch hr 8 of us kids would be allowed to listen to Sgt Peppers on head phones in the small seminar room in the back . They had a ext jack from the record player to a multijack unit so we could all listen to this album over and over every day during the wet weather. It was ear candy and we all loved it. I went on to be a pro bassist/teacher. Thanks John,Paul,George,Ringo
I'm 28 years old love the Beatles is it weird I'm the one shedding a tear seeing elders react to the Beatles. Lol
Everyone remembers the Beatles even 50 years later. No one will remember a lot of today's bands in 2067.
We remember those what deserves to be remembered. I don't expect this will change in the future.
+James - Not really a bad comparison. He's saying that most of the stuff people listen to today won't be remembered and he's right. All the stuff that is popular now, not even 1% of it will survive 50 years
It's so cute to see, how the elders take back to they past. Most of them look so happy and peaceful. 😊
I love the way that elders have so many histories to tell. And they tell us them if a smile in the face.
Considering this was released in '67, but they started recording it in '66, and '66 was the best year for music, the elders were fortunate to have heard this when it was brand new.
I cant be the only one loving to listen to these stories, with my elbows on the table leaning in.

She had to buy two albums after wearing down the first back in the day. Now that just might sum up their influence to those who don't understand
This is awesome. I've been a Beatles fan since they started even though I was only about 3 years of age when they began in 1960. When I turned 13 in 1970, the Beatles were starting to breakup, which was absolutely horrible. I have always loved their music, and was, like so many other musicians, trying to build a band that had a similar background (talent, outlook, etc.), but that was a failed mission. The Beatles were head-and-shoulders over so many, many bands of the generation. Even now, Beatles music sells through the roof. It was a magical, mystery tour indeed, and that tour has never ended... not if you're a bona fide Beatles Fan. Thanks so much for this production. It's wonderful.
