    The keyboards really help to make this song (and much of the rest of the album, Let It Be). The dude playing them is Billy Preston. His presence helped tremendously to keep them from imploding during the making of the album; they were driving each other crazy and would break up shortly after this. They gave him liner credit on the album; it's the only time they did that for anyone I think.

    • @mgonzales56
      @mgonzales56 2 года назад +5

      On their single of "Don't Let Me Down", the record label said "The Beatles with Billy Preston". That was the first and only time anyone got credit on a Beatles record. The Beatles met Billy back in 1960 In their Hamburg days, when Billy was playing keyboards with Little Richard. They remained friends their whole lives.

    • @CC-oi9mc
      @CC-oi9mc 2 года назад

      They didn't have many issues getting along, Paul was the issue. The Beatles broke up because Paul refused John's offer to do an album giving George an equal number of songs after he got back from playing Toronto with Plastic Ono and John said okay I quit then.

    • @dansharp2860
      @dansharp2860 2 года назад +1

      @@CC-oi9mc That's a rather simplistic way of looking at it. There were many factors that made the break up inevitable particularly the fact that they were all drifting apart musically. Abbey Road doesn't actually have that many tracks that all four Beatles played on. Paul was tired of being the defacto leader and keeping them together making records while getting hate from the others for it. If it wasn't for Paul then the Beatles wouldn't have even lasted long after Brian's death. John was also demanding that they go all in on the peace thing which the others were not too keen on and let's not forget that Yoko's constant presence and that John was allowing her to speak for him.
      They were discussing breaking up long before that fateful meeting when Paul dissed George's song writing ability.

    The Beatles are honestly my favorite band. This is from their later days, this one from 1969.
    Don't Let Me Down was written by John Lennon, who was (usually) the rhythm guitarist. Every member of the band wrote at least 2 songs for the band. I'd definitely recommend more songs from them!
    Here's 1 song written by the other 3 members from around the same time:
    Paul McCartney (bassist): Oh! Darling
    George Harrison (lead guitarist): Something
    Ringo Starr (drummer): Octopus's Garden
    And one last thing, sharing one earbud between the two of you won't work. In essentially every Beatles song (that isn't a live performance), some instruments are panned to the left or the right. You'll need to find some way that the both of you can hear the instruments from both sides.

    Welcome to the greatness that is The Beatles. Their performance of "Get Back" from this same rooftop concert is also stellar. They only managed to perform a few songs that day before the cops made them leave the roof because they were causing a traffic jam in the streets below from the crowds that gathered to listen. It was cold that day, too-in the 40s, as I recall-so it's amazing they were able to hold their pitches!

    • @BuffaloC305
      @BuffaloC305 2 года назад

      The traffic jam was real enough, but what was so irritating were the cops lying about "30 complaints" when there were 3,000 fans out there. Tell those 30 to get back into their own offices, and stop wandering the streets AND complaining - "I can't work with this out here!" What nonsense. We all kept wanting The Press to list all the complainers and their businesses, put THOSE on headlines: "Company XYZ hates the Beatles" and "Company ABC is one of those that stopped the Beatles' free concert!" Let's see how consumers treated those companies THEN.

If you think a drum loop is something quite new maybe from sometime in the '80s possibly late '70s? Well Beatles created the first drum loop way back in 1966 by literally copying and pasting! Apart from Sheridan, the American pianist Billy Preston was the only artist to receive joint credit on a Beatles single, for his playing on "Get Back". On the Let it Be album where Preston's performances are used the song credits list "with Billy Preston". Preston also played organ on "Let It Be", "Something" and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)", and Fender Rhodes electric piano on "Don't Let Me Down", "One After 909", "Dig A Pony", "I've Got a Feeling", and "Get Back". Preston first met the Beatles in 1962, but his "Fifth Beatle" claim originated in January 1969 when Harrison invited him to join them for recording sessions in order to defuse tensions in the band. Lennon suggested that Preston join the Beatles, even using the term "Fifth Beatle", but the idea was dismissed by McCartney. To distinguish Preston from the controversy over who is the Fifth Beatle, he is sometimes given the unique title of the "Black Beatle".

    This was the Beatles last performance. They broke up not long after this rooftop performance. To perform they simply walked out of their studio and went to the roof of Apple Records, their record company. They could not perform in a regular venue because the fans’ screaming was so loud that could not be heard. The last several years they only worked in the studio and produced records. It allowed them to be much more experimental in their creative process.

    The rooftop concert had to be stopped, London traffic ground to a halt around the area. The roads were full of people for some reason??

    Love your vibe, great video - my only critique is you GOTTA have both ears listening! I'm pretty sure this is mixed in stereo and you're missing some important parts of the performance! I'd strongly recommend both earphones in whenever you listen to music for these videos :) ~peace~

      Thank You So Much!!♥️ And I Totally Understand Pertaining To Using Both Earphones! But The Way We React To The Videos We Dont Want To Constantly Keep Stopping The Videos Everytime We Throw Our Little Comments In.. And If We Put Both Earphones In We Cant Hear Each Other.

    Almost every song they released was its own style. You need to see as much of them as possible. If you're going to listen to 60-70 music you need to EACH have both ear pieces. You'll miss out on a lot of the music if you don't. They really used the stereo.

    This is a weirdly lyric'd song. If he's so in love with this person - and all the verses say that over and over, and over and over... then why does the chorus cry out "Don't let me down"? I mean - how can he have this one true love but also fret over her betrayal or departure? The verses are exactly opposite of the chorus. Or is he COMMANDING her? "It's the love that lasts forever" then but don'tcha DARE let me down-!! What-?!!

      Maybe check some other John Lennon lyrics (Run for your life, Help, Jealous guy, for instance) and read up on his life and it may just make sense

    If you’ve never heard a song by the Beatles before we must assume you have been living in a cave all these years how can it be. The biggest selling musical act in the world!

    Just a suggestion, get a splitter and use two sets of ear phones otherwise both of you will miss out on half the music on many recordings, especially from the 60's, 70's and 80's when they were experimenting with stereo mixing techniques.
