Thank you! This summer, I have learned to successfully paddle up with a Hardboard and Sirus 3 XL Foil as well (being a quite larger & heavier individual than you) and now trying to successfully learn to stay up on foil & pump with it without a stalling or falling down the foil left or right. I also have a 90cm Kluber as well, but I haven't tried it yet, as I want to learn to be able to pump on the sup foil hardboard for at least 30sec at first. At the end of my training sessions, I also see my fuel tank running empty as soon as I am not able anymore to get up on foil. Therefore it is quite a relief for me seeing you as a foiling expert (whith some lesser weight) failing to paddle up on a rather big 3XLSirus as well. So thank you for giving me some relief and for keeping the learning being fun.
Really enjoy your videos Ludo! This one I really appreciated, because I have a SUP and wondered what it would be like to add a foil! Alas, I live in Toronto (I’m an Aussie) and the lake here is even cold in the summer. But we go to lakes close by. The point is, I really want to try foiling this summer but need to make a plan for open water locations that are clean and warm. I miss the ocean - waves, wind, the beach is a lifestyle. But yes a lake and I also want this for a fun way to exercise and lose a couple of Kgs! 😉
@@JamesWilson-ts5xk Thank you for your message 😁 I know this feeling of missing the ocean!! Starting pump foiling and now supfoil paddle up was a game changer for me !! So much fun 🤩 go for it 😉
Thanks Ludo! Now I understand why my hand-tow-pump session was so exhausting with my 145L board! I could only pump 12 times each time :-( Maybe I will try the dockstart again with my tiny board of 4L, but that one is quiet hard to find the balance to even start pumping. I know I have to practise at least a 100 times but too lazy now....
Thanks Ludo, very informative!!I pumpfoil my second saison and i add a foildrive past two months on it ! Of course i feel differnt pumpfeeling with these 3 kg centered on the mast ! But after a while i can go quite good with these and i have in resume more plus then minus! I aready think about to build the battery and components right into board so less wheigt with no heavy aluminium case under the board ,also feet is closer to mast and finnally i found a motor half the wheight of orig .one ! So many little improvement make big deals in the end ! Ps.would love to see you testing how far you can pump with foildrive !
@@nessenessmann5514 thank you for your message and for sharing your experience! Very interesting! I hope to have the opportunity soon to test it as well 😉
At 2:03 your back foot is over the mast of the pump board. At 3:54, your back foot is well forward of the mast on the downwind board. I wonder if your foot placement was set by your comfort for buoyancy/paddling? So much more forward weight of your body and the board might explain part of why the downwind board was so much more work.
@@claykarmel7720 something I can look at during the next session 👍 thx A adjust the feet position while pumping to feel the most comfortable. With the downwind board I have less experience, need to check it out
Hi, have you tried beachstarting the Downwind board:)? The relaxation may come with experience. Probably there is a huge difference in your experience between the pump board (>100h?) and pumping the downwind board (
@@matija3791 Hi! No I haven’t tried the beach start with the downwind board yet 😅 sounds challenging but why not give a try 👍 You’re totally right, my experience with a pump board (>100 for sure) is not the same as the one with the downwind board (you are right again
@@Ludo_freefoiler thanks for the explanation. Do you think that the air-drag of the thick board is the issue, or is it the pumping technique that is less effective due to the bigger board (lag in foil control due to bigger board volume, feet further away from the foil due to board thickness)?
@@matija3791 I think it’s more the second reason: more difficult to have a perfect technique. I don’t feel connected the same way with the foil as using a pump board. Volume and weight away from the mast doesn’t help.
love your honesty..! great stuff..! looking forward seeing you in the waves..!
