My sister gave me this recipe and I searched to see if it was good for hunting! So excited! I was worried because the soap bar had scent but it’s really diluted. Any ideas on body wash for hunting?
I’ve never tried to store it long term because it’s easier to store the ingredients than the finished detergent. When I make the second jug gets completely used up in the two to three month range and I’ve never had an issue with it going bad or not working. It does kind of naturally separate a little, so shake the jug before each use.
@@wandervieoutdoors thank you! I'm making hunting kits for my husband and club members. 3-4 month span isn't bad! I'm sure it will get used fairly quickly! Thanks again!
Using 1/2 cup/load, this delivers .04 oz of soap/load. A paper clip weighs 0.05 ounces. I need more to wash the few scraggly hairs on my head. Expect results comparable to washing with plain water.
I’ve never done the calculations, never really cared too. It works, and it works well. And quite honestly I and many others prefer this style of detergent to the chemically laden ones from the store.
Great info! Going to get some of that and try it out for our regular washings. We tried one time with this recipe, but used it dry and it tore our clothes up!! I believe you’re method will work as it’s not as concentrated and not dry. Just have to get some containers to put it in! Thanks! JBjr.
It shouldn’t lather, especially if you are using it in an HE machine. Lather would mean bubbles and bubbles would be bad. If you’re using the Zout, it may take more or less of the bar for the batch, and that would just be a trip and error process until you get it where you want it for cleaning clothes. I’ve never used the zout though, just the Pyrex bars and ivory once or twice when I was in a pinch.

I use an unscented or lightly scented body wash or soap. St Ives Oatmeal, Ivory, anything that doesn’t have a ton of unnatural scent.
@@wandervieoutdoorsI just met with my neighbor who makes soap bars and she taught me how to make them. Super excited! She even makes shampoo bars.
@aguagirl1 that is awesome!
Thanks for the recipe! How long will it save for after making it and storing in a jug? Thanks again!

A paper clip does not weigh a half oz..... more like 1 gram. Which takes 28 to equal an OZ.

Correct.

Hope you like it!
I couldn't find purex only zout. Zout isn't scent free. Is purex scent free?
The Purex only smells like soap, there’s no added fragrance in it.
@wandervieoutdoors mine doesn't seem to lather... what did I do wrong?
