Heidi, more good information on washing soda and baking soda! Just love how in depth you go to help us. I don't use Borax as I notice it is hard on the cloths and Elastic it make it brittle. Thank you again Heidi for all your hard work.
Hello Heidi, thanks for another great video. I make my laundry soap with baking soda, a little borax, and grated fels naptha. Today I'm making wellness juice. It's from your recipe for the syrup, only I add it to pure cherry juice. Blessings.
Please check out my video on my homemade laundry detergent that I linked in the description box. I once use to make it the same way you do but stopped using both borax and soap for important reasons. My newest recipe is so much easier to make, gets the clothes cleaner AND is much safer for your machine.
An easy QC check to be sure the oven baked conversion is complete is to put a couple cups of the processed soda in a hot pot. If any Baking Soda remains, a little steam and tiny geysers of CO2 will be seen. When hot powder over 250 degrees F shows no escaping gas it is fully converted. An infrared thermometer is your friend. To see the difference put baking soda in a hot pot and gently stir. The little eruptions of CO2 will be obvious as you gently stir. Be sure to wear a dust mask.

Arm and Hammer seem to have fallen victim to the Supply Chain Issues. That is why most can not find the "Washing Soda". Everywhere here is out locally. Yes, I can get the same 3 Lbs of "Baking Soda" for less than three dollars. Yet, the Box of Washing Soda vs DIY cost is less for me. However, I am going to have to do the DIY on the grid, soon I can do it on the wood stove, I hope.
I use ZOTE Flakes, Borax, Baking Soda, and Washing Soda, and some scent crystals for my detergent. I have had to look at using some other things as alternatives till the supply chain issues settle down.
I have found using a 5 gallon bucket with a lid - tight lid. Doing a Tumbler effect, and mixing it all, and doing it all outside, and letting it settle for hours before opening and wearing a mask when handling is best. I am going to start putting my final product - detergent - in Quart glass jars, so it will not become a solid block. I mean you use only 2 tablespoons per load, and may even use moisture removal and oxygen absorbers too. For longer term storage. Who knew that Toilet Paper, and Laundry Detergent would be the in such short supply. Always think ahead. Plan ahead. I keep a washboard, and zote bars, and wash pails too.
I've made it. Super easy. I no longer buy grocery store detergent. I make my own now.

@@karenritchie4952 did you watch the video I linked to in the last comment?
I WILL TRY THIS BUT I WOULDN'T USE ARM&HAMMER OR STORE IT IN PLASTIC CONTAINER.
@@BettyMatthews-o6x I do not live in fear of such things that I am using for cleaning products
Please where can i get this baking soda i need it please help a sister
YOu can find baking soda in any grocery store. The large bag I get from Costco either in the physical store or online
It’s $5.89 a box now on Amazon😢. The washing soda that is.
Costco prices are the same, but now with less lbs for baking soda.
This is not surprising as this is and has been going on all over. Shrinkflation. Can't devalue the dollar and raise the cost of fuel without seeing prices on things going up and/or seeing the products getting smaller
so is baking soda better for oders
The washing soda says on the box that it’s good too deodorize clothes
Holy moly. I live in Europe…. €18-25 for the same amount of washing soda here! Baking soda not much cheaper! 😵
That is a lot, good grief!
🙏
Thank you for the info. Hope your feet are staying dry🙏😥
They were not dry on Monday when I went out to check on my chickens! I was wearing water proof boots but had no idea that it was going to be so deep out there so the water flooded in over the tops of my boots! haha!
@@RainCountryHomestead I didn't even know about the flooding until I saw it on a RUclips blog. I sure hope you all (2 and 4 footers) are doing well. I really just love your channel and all the wonderful things you share with us. I have started so many things because of you, including making wine, vinegar, growing herb for many uses. I was a cook for years, so I tend to gravitate towards the food and medicinal side of yours blogs. Just love all of it, though. God bless you, girl. Thanks so much.🌝

@@RainCountryHomestead I was wondering how you were doing with the water too, thanks for the update.
In the lab in her plaid lab coat. ⚗️🧪🧼
🤣🥰
I make washing soda by putting the baking soda on a pan and put it in the oven for 1 hour on 200 degrees!
Yep, this was all mentioned in the video
I'd rather just buy it much easier
Aaah… brown sugar is sugar that hasn’t been processed - no bleaching.
Yes, I know what brown sugar is but not sure what that has to do with this video
Great information. Thanks.
