1 - 17.6 oz box Zote Laundry Flakes or 1 bar Zote Laundry Soap, grated
    1 1/2 - cups Mule Team Borax
1 1/2 cups Arm & Hammer Washing Soda (not baking soda)
1 - 18 oz bottle Purex Crystals or Downy Unstopables laundry booster beads (optional)
2 - cups Oxy Clean, optional
Combine all ingredients in a large container and stir well. Place detergent in sealed container or jar. Measure out 1/8 cup per load of laundry.
4 tablespoons is = to about 1/8 cup.
I love this detergent & I’ve never had an issue but Remember to always use at your own risk & read washing machines instruction for the detergent you use.
This detergent costs me less than $30.00 to make laundry detergent for a year.

To dissolve, use an old jar with a lid like a mason jar. Add powder and warm/hot water, close with lid and shake.

It's not laundry detergent it's laundry Soap which cannot be used modern He machines. If you have an old school machine then this is for you. Also borax is hard on rubber seals on front loading machines. 73

For he washers you could spread out that first 5 gallon bucket into 4 five gallon buckets of washing liquid, add 20ml of food grade polysorbate 80 surfactant which will make it work like store bought laundry soap per each 5 gallon bucket, 1/4 cup of Epsom salt to reduce suds, and 1/4 cup of citric acid to reduce soap scum in the tub. 1 cup liquid detergent per load.

One cup is to much. I have been making and using for 10 years now. Use 2tbsp and that will do the job. you can put in A jar fill it with 1/2 cup hot water and let the soap melt somewhat. It works well. love the agitator. It cleans clothes better then without.

No dingy whites and colors are clean and bright plus no smelly dirty clothes lol... have used homemade for at least the past 4 years.

I honestly tried using this DIY home recipe laundry detergent for quite a while.🤔
Before I realized that this doesn't really work.😮
I realize many of these dry ingredients do the same kind of things to your clothing.😮
I also realize that these ingredients were stripping the color off of my clothing.🤔
I also realized many people were using the same kind of ingredients to strip their laundry from build up laundry detergent.🤔😮🤔
Are we washing our laundry or are we stripping are laundry each time we wash them.🤔
I began to notice that my daughter was getting constant rashes and irritation.
I began to notice that my clothing wasn't smelling clean.
I began to notice that the color of my clothing was fading away.
I began to notice that my elastic bands from my daughter's clothing or mine were becoming weaker and breaking.😮
My washing machine was constantly breaking.😢
The repairman inform me to stop using any type of dry ingredients laundry detergent a specially the homemade.
The ingredients were over stripping my washing machine.
He told me it is okay to use white vinegar instead of store-bought softener and softener sheets because no one should use fabric softener and fabric sheets because they build a layer in your washing machine as well as your dryer damaging it and they are extremely toxic full of dangerous chemicals which stay on your clothing.
But he also told me too much white vinegar in your washing machine can also damage the washing machine.
He told me too many ingredients that strip your laundry as well as your machine can over strip it.
He told me using a wooly ball and some pure essential oils instead of fabric sheets are a good idea. 😍
Name brand store-bought laundry detergent has been manufactured to do the right job for your laundry as well as your machine as long as you do not overdo it one tablespoon for small Loads and two tablespoons for large loads only.😍😃
A small amount of anything goes a long way.
Water is the actual ingredient that cleans your clothing and the motion of banging your clothing in the washing machine or by hand is what really cleans your clothing.

When we downsized to this home in 2016 - From a 2300sq ft house to now a 1400 sq ft house - we went to a second hand appliance store as I WANTED a normal washer - not those washers that dont have an agitator - we paid $150 and its still going !
Plus i purchased scrubbimg board to wash when we loss power here in Montgomery County, Texas.
Always good to have on hand and a tub is fine or your sink.
My grandmother had the old wringer washer .
They do make them again but so expensive.
    God bless you 🙏

Thank you for sharing your proven expertise on how to Make safe and effective laundry detergent. I calculated the price to buy these products and make the laundry detergent as you outlined. It cost twenty dollars from walmart. On another youtube channel, another broadcaster said she gets about two hundred and thirty loads out The same recipe you used. That works out to be about 8.7 cents per load of laundry. I then looked at the cost I am paying for arm and hammer dry laundry powder in a large box that does 155 loads for $15.
It works out to be about 9.7 cents per load. Using the Arm & Hammer powder, Which has oxy in it. So the question is, do I save about 1 penny per load of laundry to make it myself and drive to the walmart to get all these ingredients, As well as purchase a five gallon clean bucket to hold the homemade laundry soap? Then i must add in the cost of gas plus my labor and time To get the ingredients, mix it as well as purchase a dedicated five gallon clean bucket for the Homemade laundry detergent. And I have determined that it simply is not worth the effort to save less than $3. My time and gas is worth more than that! So I will keep purchasing my arm and hammer powder laundry detergent with oxy in it at walmart doing one hundred and fifty five loads for just under 15 dollars. It works great and it's all natural. Now I agree that if I am comparing your homemade laundry detergent to tide or another top quality high priced brand then the savings is probably, perhaps likely, to be worth it. But I don't use those expensive laundry detergents. I've been using arm and hammer laundry powder for years and it works fabulously. So I am sticking with what I am doing because there is simply Not enough cost savings to justify the added effort and cost. Thank you for this great video Because without it I would not be able to determine the most cost effective Laundry detergent. Take care and enjoy your retirement.

@@sunshineand No dyes or preservatives because it contains sodium percarbonate (oxy) and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) which are preservatives in and of themselves. However, it does have some perfume in it, but very mild in my opinion and experience. It is highly cost effective, Powerful and
Does a great job all the way around. And in terms of price, it cannot be beat.
