LOL.. Bro that thumbnail had me going for a minute i thought you were breaking down all the rock pool tanks definitely one of the most interesting biotopes that i seen on youtube
Hey Mark, great looking tank i wrote a two page spread many years ago about our club (langtoun aquarist and pondkeepers) in Kirkcaldy At the time we had the largest non commercial native marine tank in the uk at 8x2x2 with a 6x2x2 sump in the cellar the story was about the club discussions we had around what were the most clourful fish ? rainbows, discus, koi etc and the club chairman said "native marines" and so the experiment started, we kept the tank going for over two years but the main problem we had was the beadlet anemones were prolific breeders (cloning) and continually clogged the outflows and filters of the tank. We had massive deep water anemones thanks to the local dive club, we collected dead mans fingers and everything else ourselves and it was certainly a massive talking point for any new members, cant remember the exact year but it was at the time when fluidised sand filters first appeared............so we made our own massive one of those too This brings back so many memories, not all good ! the fortnightly water exchange involved an industrial pump at the docks , a pick up and an ibc container
All your videos are worth a look. I’ve seen every single video and love them all. I’ve got freshwater (for now) so I’ve learned a lot about breeding from your videos. So I’m very happy that I found your channel some years ago.
Looking amazing Mark, going to do this myself maybe not this year but definitely next year. The solway coast is only a few miles away and be good to see what I can find in the rock pools in my area
I love that your videos are rough around the edges. You're a real person, not some polished up celebrity. It reminds me that anyone can do this stuff. Don't fuss about the glare or the cloudy water or algae on the glass. That's how a tank actually looks. keep 'em coming. Pete
Another great video. I loved the jellyfish vid. Aquapro tried to do a purchased tank with moss balls instead of jellyfish. It didn't work. I suggested your jellyfish tank build video. Liked
Whoops! You were cut off in mid sentence ,your Vids always end to quickly it's so interesting, I'll be sorry to see the crabs go but look forward to new crustations settling in , can't wait for the coastal forrage many thanks ☺
Hi, kinda an off topc thing. But did you hear about Triops? Sometimes called Tadpole shrimp. They originate from temporary bodys of water where they grow to adult size very fast, lay eggs and die off in the span of three months or so. The eggs lay dry untill the rain comes back and the cycle start from new. I have some in an aquarium right now which I hatched myself from eggs I bought. They are really fascinating critters, always doing stuff, never sitting still. Would be cool if you make a little side project and raise some to show. The instructions say to feed the freshly hatched larvae with dryed algae pulver, but I had more success with insoferia and life phytoplankton.
@@MARKSAQUATICS Would be awesome if you made a video about it. Since you sayd you had em a lot of times already, you might can show me some tricks I dont know. Sometimes the larvae give me a hard time and die for seemingly no reason. Theres maybe somthing im missing hat you point out.
Really like this set up mark , Nice to see a stow away made it too . Just a word on your car issue . Next time look for a Toyota or something that is super strong and easy to maintain , sorry to hear about the death of your current car . Looking forward to some more videos from the beach, Oh and a suggestion on your bleached weed , Maybe it needs to be out of the water for a period daily
@@MARKSAQUATICS Being from the outback of Australia 4x4 is what we drive mainly and yeah Toyota are really great work horses and cheap to maintain . Looking forward to the big surprise in the next video mate .
Top stuff, love the updates Mark. Question, what in your local rockpool chiller tank can you 'not' have in an non-chiller tank like your crab tank next to it? Cheers fella
Great looking tank this! Is that some sort of bladderwrack you got in there? Are you managing to keep that alive long term? It just tend to wither away in my tank, so whenever I have it in there, I have to change it out regularly...
@@MARKSAQUATICS That's very cool! I would love to make it work in my tank as well. Will have to do a bit more research I guess. Thanks for the reply Mark! :)
I'm simply amazed that all of this was collected off the UK coast, I never imagined you could make a tank like this from native UK species, I've lived in Malta for the past 4 years now... I wonder what type of tank I could make with the local wildlife here
Have you foraged all the beaches of the main British Isle or just Wales? Also does sea life change that much east or west, north or south? Do octopi inherit the waters and have you considered housing one? New to the channel apologies for so many questions. PS I would love to see you forage the newly unearthed forest remains that the storm washed up over there, thanks if possible
I've been to many beautiful beaches around the UK and the wildlife varies from cost to cost. We do get octopus in Wales but I wouldn't keep one as their best left in the wild. I did get one in a coral shipment you can see those videos in my playlists.
i will after give this a go out in my shed 300lr corner tank spare i only live 5 mins walk from the sea ..do you use protein skimmer on the cold nsw tank ..
Yes as long as its from the sea it can go back. No different to collecting a bucket of crabs on the beach then putting them back before you leave the beach.
Love the way these tanks are progressing, good luck with the car hunt, looking forward to the next foraging video

Wow sounds like an amazing setup. Yes the anemones can breed at an alarming rate. Thanks for sharing your story.
Fascinating to watch and see how they're both coming on... Fantastic😁

Fantastic pair of tanks. Looking forward to the addition of some of the small fish
Beautiful colours and really interesting specimens, especially Aunt Blennie. It's great to see the progression of these tanks.
Wonderful project. So beautiful and interesting.
Obviously the coolest tank on YT needs a chiller

Hi Mark! I was wondering what happened to the Jelly Fish tank. Great video! I love this series!! Thank for sharing!!
So sorry to hear about your car troubles. Best of luck with your new one.

Absolutely in love with this tank! Looks so peaceful in there. Do you plan to add more fish or are you happy with how many there are now?

I'm a bit bummed the crabs are being returned back, I really enjoyed them. But yeah those little guys can reek havoc in a tank like that.
Don't worry I'm getting more crabs just smaller one's. 🦀🦀

The seaweed. All the rest will withstand higher temperatures

Have a look at a male cuckoo wrasse, you'll not find a more colourful fish anywhere

No I don't use a skimmer on the aquarium.
How do you harvest anemones from nature?
What light fixture do you have on the tank
I'm running 3 fluval marine bar's
Mark fan club right here
Hey thanks for watching 😀👍
No chance that the new baby is not a surviver of a clutch of the fish in there?
Probably not as it is very large to be a baby (new born in this tank )
But hay let hope
Lenny is massive.
Volcano Lenny 🌋
I am thinking of doing a outdoors pond will it work no fish though
It would be fine but it would have to have a lid or the rain will dilute the water.
Are you allowed to bring animals back to nature? In Sweden you are not allowed to bring it back.
Like the Gobi tank. keep up the good work.
Yes as long as its from the sea it can go back. No different to collecting a bucket of crabs on the beach then putting them back before you leave the beach.
@@MARKSAQUATICS Cool, different countrys different rules.
Who's going back?
The large crabs. That's one of the pros of having a native tank, you can take the critters back if they grow too big :-)
