    Another great video! I know there are quite a few people that have issues with the probe. It has always worked perfectly for me, unless I forget to attach the magnet (bad for bits) or start the router with the magnet still attached to the collet (bad for wires).

      Thank you! Unfortunately the standard touch block will only set X & Y on straight sided bits. You will have to manually set x & y with V Bits.

    Great video's! I just purchased the MK2 48x30" and ordered the new Zero Auto Touchplate. Watched the videos on how to use it, but my X0 is off the corner of the workpiece approx 1/8". Any ideas about why and what to do to rectify it?
    Cheers

      Make sure you are using the correct setting. Tip or Auto. Tip for V bits and Auto for straight bits.

    I'm wondering if there is a way to make it check the X or Y before it does the Z? Reason being if something is wrong I'd rather it break the bit going sideways than plunge down into the touch block. Seems there'd be less damage or misalignment of the router that way.

    • @BuckysCustoms
      @BuckysCustoms  2 года назад +1

      In gSender you can probe just the X & Y and if all is good, start a Z probe.

  • @creativehr1284
    @creativehr1284 Год назад

    Ok, if I understand right, you first do this on the corner and then go to the center. Or do the center only if you want to start from the center?

    • @BuckysCustoms
      @BuckysCustoms  Год назад +1

      The probe is only used in the center of the project to set the Z axis zero to the top of your project. Your start point (X & Y) is wherever you set the project origin or datum point. If your start point is the center then you would set that location manually without the probe. If its a corner, use the probe. Hope this helps. Good luck!

    Is your z probe automatically programmed in gsender because of your cnc being a longmill or is the probe thickness something you need to measure and enter in gsender.?

    Howabout doing a video on zeroing just the x&y, x, and finally y.
    I tried to do just the x&y and due to incomplete instructions for that (not nearly as complete as xy&z) the machine went into a warp drive mode and took the bit straight through the aluminum block! There went my $30!
    I am sure it is my fault somewhere but instructions for this are very limited and actually needs to be lengthened.
    Being new and not knowing what I am looking at, I did exactly what the limited instructions said or didn't say. The only thing I had to go by was the picture because of such limited wording in the instructions.
    Here is another idea for a video. How to use the touch block for irregular bits. You can do it but you have to divide the cutting diameter by two.
    The first time I used the plate I used a 1/16 bit with a smaller cutting diameter (not on purpose) and it was not accurate until I divided the cutting diameter in two and only then was it accurate.
    Coming from a programming background, they actually can correct this. Why they choose not to is beyond me?!

      Where is the video. My touch block is totally unreliable not to mention I do not think they entered information very well.
      For instance, a 1/16 bit actually tapers from the shaft but yet the longmill, even when the right size is selected, will not perform the correct moves. It dives down deeper and touches off on the thicker portion of the shaft. Or it could be mine is totally inaccurate because it cannot making an accurate x0 y0 and I don't think it is doing it accurately for the z either.
      I still remember the above problem I had and there has been a few more. I think it is totally unreliable or at least mine is.
      Also, v-bits. I don't care how wide it is no matter what the center is found the same but yet it will not do it.
      And I have seen the longmill, when calculating z press the bit into the aluminum block way too hard which actually throws off the z and yes it was a conductive bit. I've watched other manufactures use their probes and the sensitivity to the touch block was FAR different then mine. This problem has even broken a bolt near my router that longmill assembled. They wanted me to take a video of me trying to turn it instead of taking my word for it but at the time I did not have a phone that could take video so I am still stuck with broken equipment because they admit, in their pdf files, that they have a glitch but yet they will not rectify my problem. I'm getting pissed just talking about it and I'm about to sell this aluminum piece of v-wheel crap.
      Oh yeah LONG~MILL Howabout programing your downloads to gSender and making it let US, YOUR CUSTOMERS, know that the download is finished! Novel idea huh? Because of this I have no idea if mine is updating or doing anything at all. The downloading graph will stay on screen for hours and hours and will never go OFF. That makes the customer feel NOTHING is happening! But you continue ignoring and you actually are not thinking about the customer! And then I get problems like the above problems. SO, what good are these updates? They are doing nothing.
      And finally since I am on a rant. Nothing against Bucky, but why are you using this video on your website to demonstrate the touch block when he doesn't even demonstrate only the x or only the y or only the x&y.
      Why did you do that longmill?

    • @BuckysCustoms
      @BuckysCustoms  Год назад +1

      @iwannaapple I am really sorry you are having so many issues with your touch block! And no offense taken! We all need to vent every now and again! Destroying projects and bits is never fun! I had plenty of issues when I first got my Longmill so I totally understand how you feel. In my case, loose connections and my lack of knowledge were the cause of 99% of my issues. You have been at this a while so you have obviously triple checked everything on your Longmill and Read all you can read till you are blue in the face so, no need to suggest any of that! I have made a few videos since your first post a year ago and I am sure you have watched them all. Check all connections! Even the printer cable. I have thrown two of them away in the past because they were junk. I don't believe the block is your issue. It is a block of metal so if anything it would be the connection. Clean your Collett as well as the nut so the bit gets good contact and the magnet gets a good connection. Be sure the connection plug is clean and tight.(That was one of my screw ups!) One things for sure, something is causing your issues! Keep at it I am sure you will figure it out! Good Luck!
