So many cozy fantasies this year!!
Oooh what a fun batch! I love the variety, and I am pleasantly surprised by how intriguing some of these synopses sound despite some of the covers not appealing to me! Hope you find some true hidden gems! 🤩
Yes it’s always fun to make this video and see what sorts of stories I can look forward to. Hopefully some strong ones!
Definitely interested in the Hunter. Can't wait to see what you think of the others.
I've been recommended Cursed Cocktails so can't wait to hear your thoughts. These all sound so interesting. The Hunter cover is stunning and am picking it up.
Hope you enjoy it! It does look beautiful and I think the author of the hunter did the cover art (from looking on X)
I’m saving CC for later as I’m hopeful about it!! 🤞🤞
What a batch of books! I hope you’ll discover some new favorites among them. My best to you for SPFBOX!
Thank you! Right back at you too!!
I'm looking forward to it! I'm reading my first fantasy submitted to an earlier spfbo...I think, the iron crown. Enjoying it so far!👍👍👍📚🤖🚀🐲
Ooh I enjoyed that one!! Hope you do too :)
Some of these look really good! I just picked up A Drifting Sun, Sneakthief, and Heart of Bones ❤
Hope you enjoy all of them. There’s a lot of variety here which I’m excited for and those all sound interesting!
Lotta demons this time around! I was hoping for more mythical creatures as protagonists, though demons aren't quite what I had in mind. The gargoyle looks interesting, though. That one gives me Raksura by Martha Wells vibes.
There’s all the other judges too so there may be more other mythical creatures in their ones. I’ll be sure to report back on these :)
So many great covers idk if I can colonist one 😊
What a lovely list! Hope you have tons of fun.
I hope so too!
I am so excited for SPFBOX. Definitely looking forward to hearing your reviews and checking out some of these myself.
Thanks! I’m very much looking forward to diving into more!!
Really interesting list. I see after the success of Orcanomics humor-fantasy is becoming a popular entry. I’m rooting for Death and the Taxman 🤓. Some awesome covers as well, although Blood Runs True looks AI generated.
I’m going to put my “money” on Dark City Rising coming out of this as the best book. It has one of the better covers as well as an interesting premise somewhat similar to Jonathan Strange.
That one definitely does have a lovely cover and I am very intrigued by the setting of it being Scotland. I hope it’s as good as the cover makes it seem.
Death and the Taxman seems to be one a few people are excited about too so hopefully that one plays out well :)
Excited for the reviews! Looks like you have a fun batch this year. A nice mix of dark and light, epic and contemporary.
Fingers crossed! It does seem varied which is great!
Sounds like you've got a good list!!
I think so too! Can’t wait
Demons for the win!
👿😈👹👺
So excited you're back! You were how I learned about SPFBO, if I remember correctly, and I entered for the first time last year. Really excited to see your reviews for your batch. (:
And yay for chunky books!
Really excited for Dark City Rising! Also really interested in the Eastern Roman Empire book--not a setting many people write in. o.o
Red Flags sounds right up my alley, as does Thorns! A Drifting Sun has a beautiful cover and I can't wait to try it out. And yayyyyyy Wings So Soft!!!!!!!!!! Go go Dani gooooo.
Honestly, based on covers and taglines, your batch is stacked. o.o
:D yeah I think it’s a really good-sounding batch of books for me actually! I’m very excited and those I’ve read so far have been engaging and enjoyable!
I’m so happy to hear you entered SPFBO and that you found it through me! It’s such a great competition and just full of positivity!
Enjoy all ur reads!! 😊📕📚
16:00 Missed the obvious title of Death & Taxes
I considered it, but it was taken. Quite a few books have Death & Taxes in their title. And as someone who's been audited before, it seemed only natural to make the taxman my villain.
So excited!!!!
