While, on the most part, this is true, there are many who demand respect yet have none to give. My father, for example, is a bully to his wife as he is to all his children (including me). This problem of parents feeling entitled to respect when they aren't even a role model for it, very unfortunately, also exists. I am sure there is a sizeable amount of the population that can concur with this statement.
When you see teens being disrespectful to their parent's you can't ignore the whole context. Chances are that this is learned behaviour off their own parents. Many of my friends, who are extremely humble, have such compassionate and caring parents. The correlation exists and cannot be overlooked.
