I had someone change the transmission fluid and filter, also added a quart of Lucas Transmission fix. Today I drive it 60 miles round trip every day to work. It now has 341,000 miles on the transmission. $150 was the cost.
In 2015 I bought a 2008 Corolla, and it had a lot of transmission slippage causing bad shuddering when I accelerated hard from a stop. I added 2/3 a container of that exact same stuff to my transmission (after draining some transmission fluid out), and the problem mostly went away right away, and a month later the transmission was performing perfectly, just like a new car. So yeah, that stuff sometimes works wonders, other times it has no effect.

Hi, I have the same 2000 Explorer, 222k. The 3rd is having a delay engaging since I drove on plenty of ice roads last week. Do you think the Lucas will fix it?
I’ve used Lucas Transmission Fix in my 1998 Subaru Impreza. Here’s the low down. The first time I ever did it I didn’t remove any fluid and it definitely seemed to help but it wasn’t a magic cure. Things did get a little smoother though. I feel like because of Lucas viscosity it’s better for slipping than rough shifts. But I’ve now learned I can pump out fluid from the dipstick hole and refill my transmission with new fluid and Lucas. I highly recommend this method even on higher mileage cars. It’s seemed to help a lot.
I had a van with a loose transmission line. Fluid ran out transmission seemed cooked. I put 2 bottles in it was an old half ton van. I towed a 7000 lb trailer over 1000 miles and drove the van for another 2 years. Don't give up on a transmission until you try this. Any shop would have rightfully called that transmission dead. Awesome stuff!
I had a distinct shutter going from 45 to 60 mph. I used the Lucas transmission additive shown here along with a new filter and all new synthetic Valvoline MaxLife transmission fluid. Shifted like new afterward. Its It's been 4 years and about 40,000 miles. The transmission itself now has about 380,000 miles. A341E 4 speed .
I had a 2003 Mercury GrammaKey with torque converter shudder and I fixed it by dropping the tranny pan, putting in a new filter, and putting in close to 5 quarts of tranny fluid. it fixed the shudder. I also replaced the pan with one that has a drain valve so I was able to drain and put new transmission fluid in every oil change. I've since bought a 2011 Town Car snd I'm doing the same process before the shuddering starts, or worse.
Man, this guy is great. And he’s right - we don’t all want to rip people off to make money. Most of us would rather be happy, comfortable, and decent to each other.
I've seen this scenario before. The shop misdiagnosed by saying it was torque converter.... Turns out to be servor bore thingy that ford used in these cars and trucks. When you added that stuff it help seal up that plunger that activates 1rst,5th gear
That transmission has no fifth gear. But I agree a converter doesn't cause slow shifts. Converter either jump skips under load or grenades and spreads steel schrapnal throughout the trans.

Hi Scotty, i bought a towncar and the trans was slipping in both forward and reverse, i removed 48 oz ( 2 bottles worth of that stuff your showing Lucas) of old very dirty trans fluid....wala its amazing...but now i need to know how often should I remove some fluid and replace with some new Lucas oil. oh btw Im 65 yr old lady that has saved thousands fixing my own car with all your help...you're the best...
Scotty, you have helped thousands of people by telling them how to fix there vehicle and it amazes me how simple you make it look even though sometimes it's not as easy as it looks. Scotty, i was wondering if you was going to get a truck would you still recommend a Toyota and Honda and which one will last the longest?
My wife and I were driving her 04 Lexus RX330 on I-10 in Kerrville, TX last week not far outside of San Antonio. Her transmission finally had enough and left us stranded. 225K on the clock. Those model years from 04-06 were notoriously weak transmissions. We had the car shipped back home and are going to put in a remanufactured one soon.
had a ford aod in a crown vic. it was this transmission's predecessor. i'll admit i was young and stupid, too rough on that car... lost overdrive in it one day. dropped the pan, changed the fluid and filter and no luck. done this exactly but without the pump or a drain plug. put some lucas in it and 4th came back. it was working just as it should again. i didn't push it, learned to drop her in drive if i was gonna do something silly and to maybe not act silly so often lol. drove her about 6 months or so and sold it to a buddy. he knew what i went through with it prior and the fix used, it wasn't like that. it worked for several years after he got it. it's a great product imo. i don't know that i would dump it in a modern transmission unless it was a do or die thing. modern fluid, synthetic if you can get it and the friction adders in them with the level of programed control on them, automatics are not bad. honestly i always took what i could get cheap, preferably cheap and broken down...i preferred a stick or 3 speed auto older design over an o/d unit because it was one less thing to worry about on high mileage neglected vehicles. now 20 years later, i don't care either way.
I did this with my 2013 Cadillac XTS because the transmission was slipping badly into second or third gear with a bam! Took out a quart of transmission fluid put in that Lucas fluid and it worked. No slipping no banging smooth as silk now. Now if only the rest of the car were not a piece of crap. Shocks and struts went out and now all the bearings are failing for the second time.
I bought a new Crown Vic in '96 and the transmission had a mind of it's own... it would down shift and accelerate without warning, and it would pop out of gear and then slam into gear all on it's own. Ford gave me a episode recorder, and even with all of that data they still never figured out the problem. I traded it in on a new Acura, and ended up in Toyota vehicles after that.
Scotty it's the lockup clutch in the converter. The friction material is different from the other clutch material. Shudder Stop stops the engagement problem instantly but lasts for only a little while. I use it annually on my 95 Mustang.
Speaking of Hyundai, don’t put any Lucas stopleak or other Tx fluid additive in Hyundai transmissions. It made my 2002 shudder and I had to drain and refill several times to fix.
Don't buy a Hyundai , that is the biggest lie of a vehicle you could buy other than Yugo ,best thing to do is sale it before it starts giving you issues
Scotty, you did again with great car advice. "I'd never buy a new car, they cost too much money." I have been saying this to my friends for the longest time. You drive a brand new car off the lot and it looses a lot of it's value immediately and it's now a second hand car. So what is a new car really?? Cars are made to be driven hundreds of thousands of miles and besides, older models can't go out of fashion because they are late already, but if you chase new cars, with new designs, they change every year and that's a sure way to keep you in debt. If you ask me, newer cars are made to rip you off, as everything is made cheap these days, so why not buy something older where you know exactly what to expect and you'll save money!
Thank you so much, Scotty, for all of your helpful videos. My Young children and I watch your videos to learn and to help us work on our own cars. Please keep the pictures and puns family friendly. Thank you!
I HOPE A LOT OF PEOPLE UNDERSTAND YOU! I learned a lot from you, and I confirmed a lot of things that I knew from before ... I made one “mistake” and bought a Porche Cayenne 2012 mod. 958. Very good car if you are also a good mechanic .. :-) I live in Europe .. and many cars that you said are good .. there are none here .. So you have to know how to work around the car alone and manage .. or be rich and pay for expensive service .. I learned a lot from you .. and I would like you to continue with videos that show us how to repair cars .. and how to prevent mistakes from happening ...
These cars have a habit of the torque converter shudder when misfiring under load and won't even throw a check engine light. the misfires will appear under the misfire pid though. Happened on my 98 grand marquis, and a few others I've dealt with. It was a bad coil on mine.
My towncar did the same. I did a trans fluid drain and fill and EUREKA, all was well. If memory serves, Ford made the fluid too slippery at the time.....
I really enjoy driving my 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis. It's to bad they didn't continue to update these cars . They are comfortable and mechanically they are well put together.
I only has ford 86 mustang 90 continental 93 crown Victoria 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis 2018 SUBARU Legacy. Ford didn’t have a car I could trust or could fit my needs anymore. Still have the Mercury as daily driving car 170000 miles running strong 17 mpg city highway. They messed up I would have bought another one had they still had a panther plant.
Sounds like you're driving some form of early 2000s GM truck or van (or other rear wheel drive using the 4L60 or 80e. They show their age with rough shifts and eventually constant noise.
I just saw a similar video for a 2006 cobalt fluid trans with this lucas fix i did it as well works perfectly also i did it with a 2008 altima is a special ctv trans fluid additive anti slip etc awesome as well 👍👍
I love how people think pep boys or jiffy lube mechanics do this for you 😂 good luck figuring out car problems without a good trustworthy mechanic like Scotty
Hey Scotty! I have a 2013 Buick Enclave. I have changed the fluid a few times, until it was no longer dirty. The transmission acts up, when I fill it to the correct level on the dipstick. But, when I over fill it a little, and I mean by a LITTLE , it shifts smooth as butter. Could gm have messed up the dipstick level, and that is why the lambda vehicles all had transmission issues?!
First thing i would do is search it up on the internet to see if this is a common occurance with your particular make and model of vehicle. If it is then keep doing what you are doing and overfill it slightly or see if there is a redesign dipstick that is bigger. If its not a common problem and you have high mileage it could be a sign that the transmission is starting to wear out. When you put more fluid, that fluid takes up more space in the housing which takes up spaces better in places where metals have worn down slightly causing the transmission to work better when you overfill it. In that case live with it and keep changing the fluid and overfill it slightly. No sense in spending money on another transmission if it drives like a dream.
When it comes to transmissions I over service mine because a few of my friends went bad and it cost them each 6k to replace so I'll just pay the 300 for a service every 30k just for piece if mind
Scotty, I have a 2014 F-150, 3.5 eco boost with a 6speed transmission with 67000 miles on both. I had the transmission serviced, changed fluid & scanned car for problems because I had had some hard shifts at my low speed & when on 6 hour highway trip which I usually cruise at 70-80 mph
The utilization of the additive has resulted in the restoration of the functionality of my Ford Galaxy, enabling me to drive it for an additional 5,000 miles. While I acknowledge that this solution is not permanent, it provides a temporary reprieve until the transmission can be professionally rebuilt.
They sell a shutter fix a oriieys it works excellent you should try it in your Celexa I've used it in several cars saves you thousands works great even use more then 1 that lucus destroys transmissions
No idea how this showed up in my recommendations as I'm not a car guy in the slightest being a computer programmer, but I'm so glad it did! Love this guy and an easy sub
I used Lucas transmission slip and leak seal on a 95 Ford contour with a decent transmission leak and hard to shift in gear , it stopped the leak and it shifts just fine now
As for overpriced POC new trucks- A friend of my son bought a 20 year old 4 w d Ford from a junk yard. He bought a factory rebuilt 460 engine, got a heavy duty tranny built for big trucks and had the 4 wd system completely redone by a local shop that's the best around. Had frame & body repainted and rustproofed and new upholstery. Basically had a brand new 20 year old model for about 1/3 what a new truck costs and didn't have all those dang computers to screw everything up.
They sit for longer periods of time get corrosion on clutch surfaces and embeds into clutch material. Transmission fluid keeps it there instead of scrubbing off like brake pads, additives seem to make clutch material swell and eject the corrosion
I didn't have the money for a new transmission had the same problem but at 50 mph 4L60e 220k miles put 2 bottles of Lucas in with a flush still running a year later think it might make it to 300k thank you Lucas
Scotty, Doc from Long Island here. Happy to hear you've moved north, to Rhode Island, where it's cooler. You know old fruit spoils faster in warmer climates......LOL.....
I have a 2005 Chevy Avalanche 1500 Z71 5.3 vortec. I started making a horrrible noise that I assumed was a collapsed lifter, I had a mechanic listen and get his opinion. And he blew my mind with telling me he is certain its my torque converter. He said the noise is coming from the bottom, from the transmission. I'm confused where to start.
I had an old Borg Warner velvet drive marine transmission that leaked badly out the front and rear seals. I put that Lucas stuff in and it never leaked another drop.
Maybe do a video about the Ford C-max hybrid, it's 0 to 60 time is better than a Prius, and it is quite reliable. The used price is quite low, since they were only made for 5 years, and people link them to the horrible dual clutch transmission for the regular Focus they are based on. They look like a bigger Bolt or smaller Prius V, with nicer aluminum wheels. A hybrid is more for someone that does a lot of city driving, since they get better gas mileage in the city from the regenerative braking charging the big hybrid battery. One guy said to use the emergency brake once in awhile, because the back rotors get rusty from seldom use. The stock tires might last over 90 thousand miles without a lead foot for the throttle.
98 accord was slamming upshifting and downshifting. Then slipping in drive, had to shift into 1st 2nd drive by hand. Pumped out 3qts of black thin like water trans fluid. Added new trans fluid, problem solved... cost $24.
2006 Mercury Grand Marquis… just changed the oil myself. The underside of the car is in really great condition… no rust, all rubber bushings really good… only 110k miles. Think I’m commenting on wrong video… but have a high end Kia that is a very luxurious vehicle so it’s too bad company not doing well. :(
Scotty you are absolutely right about the auto manufacturers screwing people hopefully everyone possible will keep their current vehicles and maintain whatever it needs and basically boycott the crooked thieves, what them and a bunch of other companies are doing is absolutely unethical !!!

Scotty, i was wondering if you was going to get a truck would you still recommend a Toyota and Honda and which one will last the longest?
Toyota and Honda are some of the best...but Hondas trucks are kinda odd for a truck..I wouldn't want one , I'd buy a Tacoma with a standard tranny
I'd go with the Toyota whether it's the Tundra or Tacoma.
If you can wait, Toyota's coming out with a cheaper truck like a Maverick competitor.
225 k miles, that's pretty good I had a mazda mvp tran broke only 50k miles
on the bright side, it lasted 5x longer than a chevy cruise!
had a ford aod in a crown vic. it was this transmission's predecessor. i'll admit i was young and stupid, too rough on that car... lost overdrive in it one day. dropped the pan, changed the fluid and filter and no luck. done this exactly but without the pump or a drain plug. put some lucas in it and 4th came back. it was working just as it should again. i didn't push it, learned to drop her in drive if i was gonna do something silly and to maybe not act silly so often lol. drove her about 6 months or so and sold it to a buddy. he knew what i went through with it prior and the fix used, it wasn't like that. it worked for several years after he got it. it's a great product imo. i don't know that i would dump it in a modern transmission unless it was a do or die thing. modern fluid, synthetic if you can get it and the friction adders in them with the level of programed control on them, automatics are not bad. honestly i always took what i could get cheap, preferably cheap and broken down...i preferred a stick or 3 speed auto older design over an o/d unit because it was one less thing to worry about on high mileage neglected vehicles. now 20 years later, i don't care either way.
The way Scott’s hands and arms are always moving around looks like he is directing an orchestra.
He must have been raised by Italians
For Frank Zappa
He is directing the entire US Government...no one else seems to be.
I use this stuff as cut fluid for drilling holes. It really reduces friction and keep the bits at low temperatures.
Lucas Trans Fix works. It gets rid of slips and hard shifting. Amazing stuff.
power steering fix works also.stopped a steering box leak, and whining p/s pump
As long as its not too far gone,if it is no matter wat you dump in it ..good luck
I live in Europe .. and many cars that you said are good .. there are none here ..
So you have to know how to work around the car alone and manage .. or be rich and pay for expensive service ..
I learned a lot from you .. and I would like you to continue with videos that show us how to repair cars .. and how to prevent mistakes from happening ...
This was actually a really interesting video. The way he breaks down how he's analyzing the data in real time is awesome
The images that pop up while he's talking are everything :-D
My father used to heat up a can of STP Oil Treatment in the same manner.
"You want to lubricate the parts that move."
Riiiiight.
I’m with you about boycotting all those greedy manufacturers and dealerships. They are so rotten to the core!
These cars have a habit of the torque converter shudder when misfiring under load and won't even throw a check engine light. the misfires will appear under the misfire pid though. Happened on my 98 grand marquis, and a few others I've dealt with. It was a bad coil on mine.
Same thing on my f150, thought it was trans shudder but it was just a bad coil. no cel but misfire code was found by scan tool.
Manual transmission is indeed beautiful.
True sportsman drive manuals
Lmfaoo “stuff is thick” the picture he puts 😂😂😂🤦♂️
😂 he don't miss
My towncar did the same. I did a trans fluid drain and fill and EUREKA, all was well. If memory serves, Ford made the fluid too slippery at the time.....
Ah the old Dex 5 issue I've been reading about it allot. I believe a good fix is dex/merc or a taste of dot 3 to soften the bands.
@@jr540123 Apparently Lincoln wanted the cars to shift so smoothly we wouldn't feel it. I'm not so touchy about it....
I really enjoy driving my 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis. It's to bad they didn't continue to update these cars . They are comfortable and mechanically they are well put together.
Funny, I literally just used this on my 1990 Chevy 454 a week ago after some slipping and it worked great!
Scottys advice led me to buy a 03 grand marquis and its an awesome car! I even did the same thing to the tranny fluid
I appreciate everything you do on here. Everyone could learn a lot from you, I know I do
Bro this the man fr . This is exactly 100% what my 99 toyota camrys transmission 🤣🤣☠I did the same thing an it helped alot
I have had great success with Lucas stop slip.
Scotty your commentary is the most honest analysis of car manufacturers
I only has ford 86 mustang 90 continental 93 crown Victoria 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis 2018 SUBARU Legacy. Ford didn’t have a car I could trust or could fit my needs anymore. Still have the Mercury as daily driving car 170000 miles running strong 17 mpg city highway. They messed up I would have bought another one had they still had a panther plant.
Lucas products are the Truth, I use oil stabilizer evey oil change and when I change transmission fluid I use stop slip whether it is slipping or not.
I’ve improved 3 separate transmissions using that stuff. It’s liquid magic. All has issues between 2nd-3rd gear
Regular Red Lubegurd has my yr 2000 accord 4cyl running good, is Lucas better
Sounds like you're driving some form of early 2000s GM truck or van (or other rear wheel drive using the 4L60 or 80e.
They show their age with rough shifts and eventually constant noise.
How often used?
Been using this stuff for years its amazing
That Platinum S20 scan tool is incredible!!
That Lucas stuff fixed the tranny problem in my Buick Park Ave.
What was the transmission problem?
Just like motor honey for the transmission. It works my friend put some into a beat up ram pickup transmission and it worked better.
My trans was low on fluid and not shifting right so I put that lucas in there and it’s been fine since then
I just saw a similar video for a 2006 cobalt fluid trans with this lucas fix i did it as well works perfectly also i did it with a 2008 altima is a special ctv trans fluid additive anti slip etc awesome as well 👍👍
I love how people think pep boys or jiffy lube mechanics do this for you 😂 good luck figuring out car problems without a good trustworthy mechanic like Scotty
@@admirbasic2206 Exactily. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
This stuff is thick the picture 😂😂
Good catch 😝
When it comes to transmissions I over service mine because a few of my friends went bad and it cost them each 6k to replace so I'll just pay the 300 for a service every 30k just for piece if mind
Frm Africa
Scotty is a honest Man with honest Man!
Hoping this guy in my country. Wish you all the best sir.
I have a 2009 Mazda CX-9 with 213000 I used the Lucas And it made a big Difference
They sell a shutter fix a oriieys it works excellent you should try it in your Celexa I've used it in several cars saves you thousands works great even use more then 1 that lucus destroys transmissions
I used shutter fix in a 55 Chevy, stopped the vibration in less than 20 miles. Good stuff!
No idea how this showed up in my recommendations as I'm not a car guy in the slightest being a computer programmer, but I'm so glad it did! Love this guy and an easy sub
My 2009 Accord Coupe with 191,000 miles shutter at around 30-40 mph, but besides that range it just runs!! Might look into Lucas stuff
I used Lucas transmission slip and leak seal on a 95 Ford contour with a decent transmission leak and hard to shift in gear , it stopped the leak and it shifts just fine now
Lucas makes great products. I use their cetane booster in my Colorado diesel and notice a great performance improvement
How is your transmission going several months after using Lucas Transmission Fix?
What additive would You use I a zf transmission? Thank You Scotty. 👍👍
Funny.. In the old days we would use GL-5 or gear oil.. about a half pint and it worked great!
I didn't have the money for a new transmission had the same problem but at 50 mph 4L60e 220k miles put 2 bottles of Lucas in with a flush still running a year later think it might make it to 300k thank you Lucas
A high mileage tranny flush 🤔🤔
Excellent product I've used it many times
Scotty, Doc from Long Island here. Happy to hear you've moved north, to Rhode Island, where it's cooler. You know old fruit spoils faster in warmer climates......LOL.....
I have a 2005 Chevy Avalanche 1500 Z71 5.3 vortec. I started making a horrrible noise that I assumed was a collapsed lifter, I had a mechanic listen and get his opinion. And he blew my mind with telling me he is certain its my torque converter. He said the noise is coming from the bottom, from the transmission. I'm confused where to start.
Try Fr3 additives. For gasoline and Diesel engines. It tightened up my engine, and made it run like new
I had an old Borg Warner velvet drive marine transmission that leaked badly out the front and rear seals. I put that Lucas stuff in and it never leaked another drop.
♥️ been using Brad for 30 years. Very good products.
Added new trans fluid, problem solved... cost $24.
I’ve never had Lucas oil products do me wrong in the road or in the track.
You won't get this at your local Jiffy Lube. You need someone like Scotty to work on this.
Right....
You won’t even get oil at Jiffy Lube…
@@CupwakeRBLX u would get recycle oil lol
@@captinbeyond lol
@@andersonrodriguez8258 Conventional oil is 80% recycled wherever you buy it...
Ive had good luck with this stuff as well
Scotty ROCKS!! 💪
Scotty you are absolutely right about the auto manufacturers screwing people hopefully everyone possible will keep their current vehicles and maintain whatever it needs and basically boycott the crooked thieves, what them and a bunch of other companies are doing is absolutely unethical !!!
Lucas transmission stop leak works too
