    I bought it already made and tried it for the first time last week. I didn’t like it, it tasted like bread. It was a bit hard to get it with the fork. Is it supposed to be soft when eating? Maybe mine wasn’t ripe. I’m gonna retry it, but I’m gonna make it this time.

      Sounds like green plantains. Yes buy them again and allow them to ripe.

      Plantains taste similar to a banana but taste starchy when eaten raw while they're firm.

      Deep fryer is just like frying them on the stove lol. Did you mean air fryer? Is so then yes you can air fry them as well but they will be softer than frying

      Well, some people don’t fry their plantain in a lot of oil. I think they’re fried best in a lot of oil.

    How is the oil not splashing & burning you? If I tried this I think I would get burned for the oil!!! What am I missing here?

      As long as water does not get into the oil, it should not splash and burn you.

      Plantains and bananas are not the same. Plantains are usually larger and tougher than bananas, with much thicker skin. They may be green, yellow, or very dark brown. Plantains are starchier than bananas and not very sweet when green. When ripe, they are sweeter and become more so when cooked. So for this, I used a ripe plantain. Thanks

      Make sure you’re purchasing soft Plantains and not the hard yellow or green one.

      ​@@jameshumphrey3425generally you don't use olive oil for frying. It's a flavouring oil, but I would never use it for frying as it's a low heat oil. Stick with veggie or canola.
      Maybe peanut oil will be good 😋

      Sorry to hear that but I fry these everyday and never had that experience. Also I do a lot of catering and also get great feedback on my plantains. Make sure your oil Is hot before dropping them in. Be sure to place on a clean dry paper towel after you fry them. They’ll come out perfect every time.

      Not sure where you’re buying plantains but they’re just like bananas, you purchase them green, leave them on the counter and they’ll ripen in a few days or a week.

      Plantains can be eaten in any stage. Green, semi-ripe, ripe or extra ripe.
