  • This video is a demonstration of a painting of a Common Tailorbird. It will give you a look at my process and impressionistic approach towards wildlife art. My main aim in this watercolour tutorial is to try and keep things simple, keep them fresh and as a result the painting gets done fairly quickly.
    I've been a avid birdwatcher from a young age. So it felt like a natural progression when I begun learning watercolours by painting the birds around me, here in India. I've now painted close to a 100 of these, each a little bit different in their execution.

    The materials I use in this demo are as follows:
    Paper: Fabriano Artistico, Rough 100% cotton paper. 11" x 15"
    Paints: Assorted artist grade watercolours from White Nights, Mijello, Sennelier etc
    Brushes: Combination of round and flat brushes from Da Vinci, Princeton and generic makes.
    Pencils, erasers, masking fluid, masking tape....
