I've listened to this at least 50 times since I first heard it. I now play it at midnight every New Years Eve. I play it on my best loud clear speakers. I turn it way up and toast champagne with everyone. I always cry. Thank you for this.
My grandmother passed away last December. She was not Scotish herself, but her granddaughter (me) was born in Scotland and she had held an affinity with it ever since. She wanted Scotish music for her service, but due to the service-providers we couldn't. Her ashes will be scattered tomorrow, at the place where she was most happy. However with out her I must admit I’m lost. We met in high school so 90% of my time on earth was spent with my best girl. 😊

The end of 2023 marked the end of the first full calendar year without my son's presence in this earthly world. I've listened to this song almost every years for over 6 decades, and this is one, of not THE most beautiful version that I've heard. The beauty of the music supports the feelings of hope and happiness for a new and better year! Thank you for sharing!
The finnish national broadcasting company YLE chose this version of this song to honour the memory of Her Majesty. I am glad for this, as I discovered this beautiful choir.
This rendition lifts my spirits every time I hear it, and I have played this dozens of times over the past few years. Thanks to all those who were part of the sharing of these God-given voices with the World.
These guys are so blessed with such beautiful voice. Gifts from God almighty. I was in Scotland some 20 years ago as a tourist and toured around the country for about 2 weeks. Beautiful country, beautiful sceneries. Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to visit Ireland. I'm sure it's beautiful too. Love from Singapore.
This song is synonymous with New Year's celebrations but this particular rendition, to me at least, sounds heavenly & ethereal. It's what I would imagine a choir of angels would sound like.
Me too. I love everything Irish and Celtic. I'm a Bosnian, went to Trinity College Dublin for my uni, played Rugby and Gaelic Football as a student, support Fermanagh GAA, etc.
2022 has been a horrible year for me. I quarrelled with my friends, all my family members and relatives due to current social issues and mandates. I sense isolation and powerlessness when I reconsider my career path development. Most importantly, the vaccine mandates are recalling my past traumas on startup failures, broke-ups and ..bullying. Current ease of covid restrictions cancels my isolation. And recognition among my colleagues about my work and contribution reassure myself suitable in IT industry. Your choir song 'Auld Lang Syne' revitalises me and recalls my life going to worships and churches, and most importantly the faith to Jehovah upon the darkest hours. under the gentle guidance and amazing grace of God, I am determined to make 2023 better. As I’m listening to this, I feel peace and hope for the new year and reap what my sow by my flowing tears and continual conviction or belief to Jesus Christ.
My dad who passed away last year loved this song, brought tears to my eyes in this lovely version. Thank you for the marvelous performance and the upload.
I have never heard such a wonderful version of this song before. Not only because of the incredible solo of Kiri, whose crystal clear voice simply fascinates. Many thanks to this choir for reminding us all again and again, with a song whose origins go back to 1700, exactly how important all this is that is sung about here. Honestly: I can't get away from this song.... dreamlike
I'm writing this particular version into my will. To be played as the last hymn at the service. All royalties to be divided between these divine singers.
My 91 year-old grandfather thought this was absolutely brilliant ! Thank you so much to all of you, angelic voices, for offering us such a precious gift ! May you have a very merry Christmas and a blissful & happy new year !
When I hear their voices and look at their faces, the quote from Hamlet came to mind: What piece of work is a man, how noble in reason, how infinite in faculties, in form and moving, how express and admirable in action, how like an angel in apprehension, how like a god!
I think we all need this song right now, this year has been rough, and we shouldn't forget those we lost contact with during lockdown or those we lost for good this year, best wishes for the next year And finally a version that doesn't abandon the beautiful melody
Absolutely glorious! This is a New Year’s Eve essential! May God bless all of you out there who may be hurting, looking back fondly on joyous days gone by, and praying for better ones to come again.
Our 11 year-old dog died today, and today we also buried her. This version of Auld Lang Syne made me calmer in this shaky day. Rest in peace, run free, Bantay. We love you 💔
When I find videos like this Im just so blown away by the beauty and the culture in this song and performance.. human beings are capable of such wonderful things especially during this time of year it's absolutely such a blessing that we can be able to share culture and music and art and love and happiness between one another.. happy holidays everybody God bless.!
A fantastic rendition of a Robert Burns classic that brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it sung properly, as an ageing Scot who has been living in Ireland for the last 23 years the song has become even more meaningful to me and you certainly did make my eyes well up.
This is actually originally composed by Rabindranath Tagore, a Bengali(Indian) composer and writer who wrote Geetanjali, and is a nobel laureate. The original song is in bengali.
I will remember this work of art, for a long long time. Helped me through one of my darkest times. Goodbye indeed to bad times. So grateful and blessed to listen to this. Thank you, UCD choral scholars, deeply honoured and heartfelt.
I will never get tired of listening to this song, once, twice or ten times in a row. The interpretation of this choir is unique, divine and deeply moving. Un immense merci depuis la France.
Stunning vocal harmonies, brilliant changing levels of sound. Compliment to a perfect arrangement by Desmond Earley, performed by an outstanding choir, another milestone of choral music.
I only have superficial knowledge of music theory and don’t know what kind of keys traditional celtic songs tend to come in, but something about the way this piece goes back and forth between the most gentle harmonies and electrifying dissonances is so, so moving
This is the example of perfect and pure culture. A world with this is what we have been missing. Perfect cultural representation of what cultures matter.

I feel like I’ve entered a magnificent cathedral & this stunningly beautiful chorus of angels was waiting to greet me. Thank you for such a timeless piece of musical perfection. 🙏🙏😇❤️

I cry for Scotland. they have had such a sad history yet have made such fantastic contributions to mankind
I do not think we have a sad history, just history but yes we have made a great contribution to the world
I cry when I watch them playing football - another year, same garbage.
My Grandparents used to play this. I still have no idea why almost 30 years later, I still break listening to this.. Beautifully beautiful..
Because you loved them. And love never forgets. It never fades. It never dies.
@deblosey811 Thankyou. You are right, albeit, I soon discovered it was because of heritage. My Homeland, and how it had been destroyed. 2024 will be a revival year.
My Irish pride swells when I hear the choral scholars sing - I have been watching the videos for years - this was beautiful !!
Mine too. And I'm not even Irish.
@@alankilen6646 Someday I'll be there for sure. Thank you!
Why? Do you not have any accomplishments of your own?
@@jb76489 I don’t quite understand how a compliment to a chorus group inspires you to write a underhanded slap back to me? I guess one of my accomplishments is not to be an ass while online - too bad you can’t say the same.
@@bdc2178 oh go cry to someone who cares. I asked a simple question. Why do you feel pride in something you have no connection to?
I've listened to this song almost every years for over 6 decades, and this is one, of not THE most beautiful version that I've heard. The beauty of the music supports the feelings of hope and happiness for a new and better year! Thank you for sharing!
This IS the most beautiful version I've ever heard. I love choral music. Happy New Year.
It's December 31st 2022 here in New Zealand with only 2 hours left until the New Year, thank you for making it to 2023 and may God bless you all
I might be a 19 year hard rock fan but this is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard
I’m a 21 year old hardcore raver but this is still epically world class

in 30 years you people will still be in the comments saying "omg guys I'm only 50 but I like classical music, I was born in the wrong generation"
@imperialofficer6185 not saying I was born in the wrong generation, I just think this song is beautiful
The finnish national broadcasting company YLE chose this version of this song to honour the memory of Her Majesty. I am glad for this, as I discovered this beautiful choir.
Hilarious.
I am French and I thank my teacher of English to have taught this song which yet goes straight to my hart.
My father passed away on New Year's Eve 2016 so this song brings us so many emotions for me. This was perfect. This sounds like Heaven.
May he rest in peace

I am Turkish and strangely I have a passion toward everything Celtic. You know, it is so beautiful 🇹🇷❤️🇮🇪🏴
Not that weird, the celts (Galatians) actually expanded in to Anatolia at one point.
Me too. I love everything Irish and Celtic. I'm a Bosnian, went to Trinity College Dublin for my uni, played Rugby and Gaelic Football as a student, support Fermanagh GAA, etc.
Moved my heart as a child, though I didn’t why. Know much older it means so much more and now I’m most oft moved to tears.❤️
very true
The fading effect at the end is so bittersweet, just know we'll forever cherish the music you've brought to the world
감사합니다.
Hearing this beautiful rendition reminds me how badly we all want this damned year to end
Be strong and courageous.
Don't let anything get the best of you,you will make it out alive.
Amen!!
2020: This is your warning.
2021: Buckle up kids!
2022: You should have listened.
@Bob Mathews It certainly will with that attitude! :)
Hope things become beautiful once again...!!
I don't think I have ever heard a more beautiful rendition of this song. VERY well done young ladies and gentlemen.
All the best to you Larry🙏🏾
May life treat you kindly ❤️
@@lifewithveronicahthank you very much. I feel enlightened and empowered
My dad who passed away last year loved this song, brought tears to my eyes in this lovely version. Thank you for the marvelous performance and the upload.

This poem always spoke to me. God Bless and happy New Year!
I'm NOT crying. No. This did NOT make me cry. Anyone else NOT crying from listening to this?
Me 😭😭😭😭
I am absolutely NOT crying
A heartfelt New Year in harmony as one. "Take a cup of kindness..."
Many new faces, same wonderful sound.
I have never heard such a wonderful version of this song before. Not only because of the incredible solo of Kiri, whose crystal clear voice simply fascinates. Many thanks to this choir for reminding us all again and again, with a song whose origins go back to 1700, exactly how important all this is that is sung about here.
Honestly: I can't get away from this song.... dreamlike
Absolutely love the version. Am sharing with my family. Happy New Year and God Bless all of you today and always.
I'm writing this particular version into my will. To be played as the last hymn at the service. All royalties to be divided between these divine singers.
I lost my partner March 11th of 2021. This song is emotional. He won’t be with us in 2022 but his spirit lives on forever.
And, does it get easier?
My 91 year-old grandfather thought this was absolutely brilliant ! Thank you so much to all of you, angelic voices, for offering us such a precious gift ! May you have a very merry Christmas and a blissful & happy new year !
When I hear their voices and look at their faces, the quote from Hamlet came to mind:
What piece of work is a man, how noble in reason,
how infinite in faculties, in form and moving,
how express and admirable in action, how like an angel in apprehension,
how like a god!
Beautiful young people, beautiful voices. If I were one of their parents, this recording would be a lifelong treasure.
I think we all need this song right now, this year has been rough, and we shouldn't forget those we lost contact with during lockdown or those we lost for good this year, best wishes for the next year
And finally a version that doesn't abandon the beautiful melody
Amen!! My thoughts exactly. Happy New Year !
Absolute perfection! Without doubt the best arrangement and rendition I've ever heard in my 65 years. Even the acoustics were beautiful. Well done!
Bravo, bravo. Most excellent! Thank you. Reminds me of my wonderful days in the University Chorale at Samford University. Heading into 2024.

Absolutely glorious! This is a New Year’s Eve essential! May God bless all of you out there who may be hurting, looking back fondly on joyous days gone by, and praying for better ones to come again.
Angelic singing--lovely to see this group work to preserve their beautiful cultural heritage!
Brings me back to where I was a kid sitting in front of a warm fire place in the living room with Mom, Dad, and family during X-mas.
Like a choir of angels. Beautiful
If this doesn't give you chills, check your pulse.
…or you must come from a culture that rejects music-and those cultures are horrible.

Unbelievably beautiful. Stunning and straight to the heart. At 72, I've never heard a finer version. Heavenly. Get my drift?
A fantastic rendition of a Robert Burns classic that brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it sung properly, as an ageing Scot who has been living in Ireland for the last 23 years the song has become even more meaningful to me and you certainly did make my eyes well up.
This is actually originally composed by Rabindranath Tagore, a Bengali(Indian) composer and writer who wrote Geetanjali, and is a nobel laureate. The original song is in bengali.
@Arnabi Dutta what the fuck are you on about lmao
I will remember this work of art, for a long long time. Helped me through one of my darkest times. Goodbye indeed to bad times. So grateful and blessed to listen to this. Thank you, UCD choral scholars, deeply honoured and heartfelt.
I will never get tired of listening to this song, once, twice or ten times in a row. The interpretation of this choir is unique, divine and deeply moving. Un immense merci depuis la France.
Such a beautiful blend of clear voices and acoustic. Couldn't be better, IMO.
Love it - simple, traditional, beautiful. Their voices move. No flash or over the top.
The tenor notes are just exquisite
Stunning vocal harmonies, brilliant changing levels of sound. Compliment to a perfect arrangement by Desmond Earley, performed by an outstanding choir, another milestone of choral music.
I can't describe the emotion your singing evokes. For some reason my eyes leak when listening to this. Simply beautiful! Thank you.

We call this song "hotaru-no-hikari" in Japanese.
This song remind me of a graduation ceremony or commencement.
They move me extraordinarily.
What does "hotaru" mean?
@@martaleszkiewicz5115 Hotaru is a firefly and hikari is a glow in Japanese. Namely, hotaru no hikari means fireflies' glow.
Oooooh that is fantastic. The playful flickering of firelight to hold memories but no current heat. Thank you for the metaphor.
The Japanese supermarket uses this song to close their store 😂
Naruto opening..?
Next to "Happy Birthday" Robert Burns immortal words are probably sung more than any other song in the world. Love the UCD choral scholars rendition.
Oh my god. Just absolutely gorgeous performance.
as long as there are these bright faces and such songs are sung, the end of the world will not come.
