I loved hearing it as a kid on New Year's Eve with Guy Lombardo. He is the one who made it the New Year's Eve standard to be played at the stroke of midnight in 1929. He was contracted to work for 2 radio stations that night and he transitioned from one to the other with this old hymn. It became tradition.
Every year and this year w/o fail I've come back to this memorable song. I dedicate it to the many who do not see the New Year, babies, young children, adults and seniors. Accidents of are avoidable as is death from some diseases. Well- that's letting the cat out of the bag for me and my interests. To all who have lived to read this; God graceful mercy to you and all!

This is an old but legendary song that is often played by cadets of the Indonesian naval academy with the legendary marching band 'Gita Jala Taruna' when sailing overseas. Love it!!!😘😘😘
This melody has been popular in Japan since long ago as we sing this song in Japanese at Graduation ceremony. Also when restaurants end work in late night, this music flows and people prepare to leave. This song is recognized as Sayonara(goodbye) song all over Japan.
The film Waterloo Bridge; this is one of the reasons why I still watch TCM (my grandkids always ask if I have a color TV yet. -- the little Bat Rastards :) ) It outclass' most of the movies, of today (with their gore, the 'Bad A$$' attitudes, and computer generated scenes) In addition to the romantic story, it expresses a particular 'moral' sense of being.
This song is very famous in Vietnam because the French brought it to Vietnam during the time when Vietnam was their colony in 19th century. It was still famous in South Vietnam during the Vietnam War period from 1954-1975 (this kind of music and the Western cultures are forbidden in North Vietnam) thanks to the scouting movement in the South by the Americans. My uncle was a soldier of the Republic of Vietnam, he used to play guitar (he was very good player and very artistic) and taught his sisters (including my mom who was little girl back then) this song every time he came home but with parody lyric which I think every Southerner Vietnamese knows: "Tò te.. con ve đánh đu, tarzan nhảy dù, zoro bắn súng! Chết cha, con ma nào đây, làm tao hết hồn, thằn lằn cụt đuôi". Later, he still played the guitar and taught my generation to sing this song with parody lyric. He passed away in 2009 from a serious illness when I was 17 years old. Today, December 31th 2022, about to enter the new year, I listen to this song and remember a lot about the past, about the loved ones who are no longer with me, and my hair is also starting to turn gray. So much nostalgia!

I love this version. I’m enchanted by her voice❤

Thanks Tiercel for your +. There is so much personal meanings one can reflect into this version of Auld Lang Syne...

I once heard this song from a cartoon back when I was really young. I didn't know what the lyrics were but the melody remained inside my head after all those years.
And finally, I can now listen to this song whenever I want to, now that I know the title of it. Simply beautiful.

Most beautiful talented actress and movie ; sadly nothing can last forever.
Everything that happens lasts forever.
Vivien Leigh is inmortal, her art and beauty endures forever.
Loved Robert Taylor too. Good movie. I watched with my.mom. miss sher and she's gone.
It's a very good song
In Japan, it is used as a parting song for graduation ceremonies such as firefly light and music.
Before the war, it was used as a farewell song for soldiers going to the battlefield.
Currently only the 1st and 2nd are used and the 3rd and 4th are deleted after the war

Love this song . Never fails to bring a tear to my eye . Both of joy to still see one more year and the future memories it may bring , but also one of sadness because I recollect my life and all the loved ones I’ve lost who can’t be there to see that new year . Great song
-- the little Bat Rastards :) ) It outclass' most of the movies, of today (with their gore, the 'Bad A$$' attitudes, and computer generated scenes) In addition to the romantic story, it expresses a particular 'moral' sense of being.
love this old song i am 72yrs and stiil miss my country.to all out there a wonderful and peace filled christmas to all .🎅bless
I am also like you.missing my old days.Only memories left.

Many feel this is the most beautiful version of Auld Lang Syne ever, and I'm one of them. Unfortunately, the singer's identity is one of the great movie mysteries of all time. (Note that the movie was made in 1940 while Ngoc Lan wasn't even born until 1956.)
My grandma would sing this every new year but this year she couldn’t . I will forever love and miss you granny you took half of my heart with you :(
