  • In December of 2023 I saw the 2024 BMW R1300GS for the first time. I got to sit on it, and hear the engine working. On tis video I describe my thoughts about it. I can't wait for a chance to ride it.

    I've viewed several videos, and I wanted to let you know I appreciate the thought and editing that goes into creating both consise and interesting content for us riders.
    Too many times, people slap on a chin camera and just wing it, resulting in a video of endless rambling with no point. It's torture for me, at least.
    Keep up the format and quality work!

    Well done, I really enjoyed watching your presentation. Imho BMW accomplished the mission to make the great GS even better in all aspects.

    I have a similar sense of aesthetics, I just ordered such a white one with everything. A short ride convinced me that this is something between the VFR1200 and the R1200GS.... had them both.... I'm afraid that the new 13 is not so off-road anymore, and one says hard.

      Congratulations. We will have to see how well it will do off-road. Time will tell. :-)

    According to a friend who went to Thailang and talked with people from BMW Germany, they said they had to adapt to 'modern times'. Hence the change. I agree that I miss the iconic look of the GS. There's no low suspension option for short riders like me as of now. You need to purchase a low seat. Which is a separate order and current not available in the country. Still is a great bike though.

    • @idratherberiding3456
      @idratherberiding3456  9 месяцев назад

      The bike I saw had the adaptive suspension, which lowered the bike a good amount. The seat was the middle one (they have a taller and a lower seat available). And to me, with a 30 inch inseam, it worked very well. I think they want you to spend money on the adaptive suspension. I can't wait for a chance to ride one. And depending. on my experience after riding it... buy one as well.

      @shutupandride 9 месяцев назад

      @idratherberiding3456 oh I don't think I spent enough time on the bike to see that. Maybe I should go back and check it out if I can lower it enough to have some footing on the floor. Thanks for the advice.
      I was tempted to buy a new GS1250 because they had that low suspension option and because I had experience with a low suspension GSA before. But if I can be comfortable on a 1300, I might consider it.

      @@shutupandride Yes, it needs to have the adaptive suspension option for it to work. In the low position, I was flat-footing it. When I turned it off, the bike raised itself enough that I was tip toeing. You can set it up to lower the bike when you slow down. You can also ride it on the lowered position, depending on the riding mode you are on. I think it is the best of both worlds, with a full suspension available when riding faster and lowered when riding slow.

      @@idratherberiding3456 that's great to hear. You gave it one more chance for me. Hahaha. I know all the 1300s are sold out. So we'll see what happens in the next months.

    I’m not a BMW fan(previous bad experience), however agreed with all your points, this will be a great bike for BMW, although not for me yet. Existing GS owners need to get a grip and move on.

      That's it, and they will. Eventually. I can't wait to test ride one and see how it goes.

    1300 is good option for smaller rider and ladies, but unfortunately it is not any more real GS, it us more sport tourist bike

    In the process of making it smaller and 'friendlier' for a younger target audience, it has become ugly and cheap looking. No doubt it goes well but its become "japanesed". Going well, on its own, isnt enough for me, its awful, I am on 5th but theres not going to be a 6th. Too ugly, looks cheap, too small

    • @idratherberiding3456
      @idratherberiding3456  9 месяцев назад

      Got it. I think the opposite. LOL. This new motorcycle incorporates manufacturing processes the Japanese don't have yet. Which is a reversal for how those things have happened for the last decades, since Toyota invented "just in time" and revolutionized the auto industry. And Honda led the way on 4-in-line motors, BMW tried to follow with its K-series and then S-series. In other words, the Japanese make some awesome motorcycles and have led the way several times. BMW, on the other hand, introduced electronics in its partnership with Bosch. The 1300GS puts the two together, in a new level, others will follow. It impacts the looks. But I like it. And I really like it being more compact overall. But I know, you will not look so good in front of the Starbucks. LOL. Cheers!
