Our 17 dually has done the exact same things. If i pair my phone theres no telling who it will call. Mine changes the language randomly so i have also learn, spanish and french in the last two years. Gracias GM!😂😊
I just wanted to let you know, I have been having this issue for months. To the point where I even thought about selling the truck. I found your video after going through countless useless videos. I ordered the touch screen and followed your links and it has completely fixed my issues. It is actually a pleasure driving the truck again. Thank you so much for posting this. Without it I am not sure I would have ever gotten it fixed.
Watched your video a year ago as my 2018 Silverado was experiencing almost the same symptoms, it was very annoying..I ordered a replacement screen on EBay for about $20. Swapped it out and everything worked perfectly. It’s been a year now since the change and it’s still working perfectly. Thankyou for your video it was enormously helpful
I have been having the exact same issues as you were having on my 2016 Chevrolet Colorado LT. Every day the radio would change to different stations & the radio display would move over to the driver's console display. I ordered a touchscreen glass replacement on E-Bay (Had to search for the correct piece for my particular vehicle: $23) & installed it over a week ago. It took me about an hour to replace. The most difficult part was getting the old touchscreen glass off the display metal frame. It was really glued on! I used a heat gun but it was still difficult to get off. I finally got it off, cleaned up the unit & installed everything back with the new touchscreen glass. As stated earlier, it has been over a week & I have had NO ISSUES since replacing the touchscreen! I am so grateful you posted this video! THANK YOU!!!!!!
Works! Got diagnosis from dealership. the $160 diagnostic fee determined my 2017 Silverado needed a new unit and updated firmware. The link in the description provided the replacement screen with adhesive attached. Full replacement took about an hour and not difficult! Works perfectly!!
Today after 2 years of Issues I bought a new Digitizer / Screen off of Ebay . Pulled the trim panel off , a few screw and connectors removed and the radio comes out . About 8 screws , 3 ribbon removals and the old screen is out . Put the new screen in and install in Reverse and its Good as new again . What a MAJOR relief that it works like new again . $55 and an hour of my time is all it cost . You get the whole unit not just the glass , no glueing or any of that
I have a 2015 Colorado with the same issue. I watched this video and decided to order the outside glass component. I swapped out the glass a month ago. I haven's had any glitching of the display. Thanks for posting this video. BTW the dealer said I would have to replace the whole unit for over $1000.
Had this issue not to far long after I bought my truck brand new. started with the problem about a year of owning the truck The dealerships knows about this problem they call it the ghost finger I had it replaced under warranty.. now it just started AGain as of July 9th 2023 the headache begins again ..thank you for this video it will be helpful to alot of Chevy owners
Fist through the screen feeling is so relatable. Thank you so much for sharing this with the links. Replaced the touch screen today and feels like my sanity has returned when I'm on my truck! No more random touches, calls, etc. You provided a great resource to all of us schizophrenic radio owners!
OMG THANK YOU! I have been dealing with this for almost 3 years. Several trips to dealer where they wanted to replace the entire system for over $1,000...but part was unavailable due to chip shortage (per my local dealer). I tried a few other RUclips hacks to fix this with no positive result. Finally, a fix video.
I just did this two days ago! We went from having a 2-3" vertical section that had been unresponsive, on the right side of the screen. For a while, it wasn't a huge deal as I could mostly work around it... until I tried to change the audio (tone settings) from being centered to being up front (allowing the kids to nap and the wife & I to enjoy our podcast on a small road trip). Well, the part of the screen that had no response screwed me and didn't let me move it back.. matter of fact, all the audio was only coming out of the passenger side speakers! I followed your video and your links and this SAVED me over $900 for what GMC was quoting to replace it! Oddly enough, after replacing the digitizer, our vehicle seems to have a better, more vibrant image! Thank you for this!
This is exactly my current issue. On road trip and screen started freaking out & fader in tone settings went completely to passenger front/rear speakers only & can't center it again cause screen unresponsive.
@@davesterawyeah same situation happened with mine. I ordered a digitizer from Amazon and had it changed out in under an hour. All fixed! 2015 High Country 1500
Problem solved! Been dealing with this for 2 years now with my 2017 Silverado. After seeing your video, I couldn't wait to give it a go! Swapped the screen out as instructed and now it works like it did coming off the showroom floor! Thanks for sharing!
I started having this issue in my 2015 sierra months ago and it was driving me freaking nuts. I didnt find any videos or forums describing this back then. This weekend, i was looking at a replacement unit and found your video. I amazoned a replacement digitizer and BAM! Issue has been fixed...Thank you sir!
Had the same issue for my 15 Silverado 1500. I am a mechanic and ended up using our gm access and updated the software in the radio, hmi module and every module that had to do with the radio. It stopped for several months. Rarely will it do it but my issue now is since the update the center of my screen doesn’t work at all! Glad you got yours fixed.
I have been searching for the fix for my 2017 Sierra... Love the truck, was hating the infotainment system. In search, found issue with programming in modules in my truck... $170 later at dealership.... Still had issue. I ask for price to buy replacement screen, $700 refurbished not including labor!!!! I'm like, I'm not doing that. After being ticked off for a couple days, went back to search... Found this video... First person to mention the digitizer screen!! Ordered off EBay $34 Delivered... In less than an hour FIXED!!! I called dealership and let them know how to fix it in case they ever want to actually help a customer!! Thanks for the great video.
Fixed mine this morning using the links below. My new screen had adhesive tape which made it even easier. Total cost $34 for the screen and $20 for a heat gun. Thanks for the assist.
Holy shit, thank you. I've been searching a while trying to find this issue, and after giving up, several days later this video gets suggested to me by youtube. I took my truck to the dealership and they wanted to charge me $1,000 to replace the screen. I said thanks but no thanks. I will definitely give this a try, this is well within my capabilities. Thank you so much!
I've been dealing with this for the last year or so. I haven't experienced the screen flipping problem as much, but the random beeps from the ghost press is super annoying. Most recently I had an issue where the safety disclaimer could not be cleared as the touch screen would not respond to any input. It seems the touch functionality is quickly fading as of today. New screen on the way! This video is a lifesaver.. big thanks guy.
Thanks so much for posting this video. I’ve had the same problem with my 2016 Silverado for 2 years. Dealer said it needed software upgrade…no help. I ordered the new touchscreen from eBay and now it comes with adhesive already in place…just peel and stick. Getting the old adhesive off the metal frame took awhile. New screen installed in about an hour and works perfect! The other videos were helpful…especially using the wood block to prevent damaging the metal frame. Anyone with a few tools can do this themselves.
I too have been looking for a solution on line and my dealer wanted $1,000! I just ordered the part u listed and am so excited this may be the cheap fix! I even looked at alternate stereo options because I wasn’t interested in the same OEM radio replacement- no thanks!! And GMC refused to even discuss any help with this scenario even though I said this problem is readily found online with other GMC/Chevy owners!!!! So many, many thanks in advance. P.S.- being a red head I laughed at your comment of almost punching the screen out!!😂
I almost traded my Colorado in because of this issue and, I wasn't about to pay $600+ to the dealership! Thankfully, I went down the rabbit hole and ended up on your video! A $30 ebay purchase and my radio is good as new!! Very appreciative!
I wanted to thank you for sharing this information about this issue. I have a 2018 Silverado and my radio has been doing the samething. I followed your links and replaced it today and it seems to be working the way it's supposed to. Of course the dealer was no help under warranty and couldn't replicate the problem and wants a lot of money to fix. I sincerely appreciate it!
@MCMROSE ***Update*** Two months later and still working as it's suppose to. I would have say it fixed my problem. I hope others out there are fortunate enough to fix their radio problems as well with the information you provided. Thank you🍻
I recently started having this problem on my 2019 silverado LD, was looking at a pioneer replacement. Took the the assembly out, saw that all around the edges was sandy dust that had worked its way behind the bezel. I'd seen a couple of these videos and wasn't sure if I wanted to go this route. After checking out how it's all put together I cleaned the whole touchscreen from edge to edge before installing it back into the bezel. I haven't had the problem since, so far. I'm not saying these screens don't fail, I retired after 40 years a tech. But before you spend the money, I've seen them priced anywhere from $30 to over $100, give this a try. Taking it apart and putting it back togetther is fairly easy. Good luck with yours!
I am currently having this issue in my 2019 Tahoe, so I’m very excited to order the screen and get it fixed. Because it is about to drive me up the wall, it changes from the radio to my Bluetooth and then it’ll change songs right in the middle of the song, and it’ll turn on the navigation stuff. I will be glad to get that fixed. Thank you so much for your video.
Just finished up changing out the digitizer on my 2015 High Country! I can finally adjust my speakers again & look forward to not having ghost screens! Thanks so much for the video & added confidence. Much love from Waynesville, Ohio!
It looks as if there are three ways to fix this problem, costing $40, $200, or $600 depending on which one you choose. Thanks to your video I have the courage to try the $40 solution. Thanks!
Hey, thanks a million for this. Been having the same problem on my 2019 Acadia. I found online that there was a TSB from GMC for a firmware flash update that would fix this. I took my Acadia to the dealer and paid them $200 for a "diagnostic fee". Apparently a tech poked at the screen and said it doesn't work, replace the whole unit for $1300.00. I told them I'd pass on that. I will be buying this replacement panel and swapping mine. Wish I had seen this video sooner. Thanks again.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! Same thing happening to me in my 2017 Acadia Denali. Replaced screen and now it’s fixed and couldn’t be happier. TWO years of putting up with it and fixed in a couple hours and $40. FYI: The screen I purchased from EBay had peel and stick so didn’t need to buy any glue.
What works for me and it's free. I had the same problem with my 2018 Tahoe. Sometimes the touch screen worked fine then sometimes it would act like you described and worse. This is what I did to "solve" or at least stop it from happening. I have a touch button ignition. What I do is when I first enter the vehicle I wait for the logo that shows on the touch screen to disappear then push the ignition button to "On" without touching the brake pedal. This allows the vehicle to turn on without starting the vehicle. Then I once again wait for the logo that shows on the touch screen to disappear and then I simply start my vehicle. My touch screen acts "normal" again. It's worked for me every time and it has allowed me to cancel my new $850 (plus $300 to install it) touch screen that I ordered from the dealership. I hope this helps any and everyone who has had issues with these touch screens that I believe should have been recalled.
I just wanted to say Thank You. Your description was exactly what I am going through. I ordered the touch screen and installed and it fixed everything.
Thank you so much for your content, instructions and links to the part. I ordered the replacement digitizer from eBay per your instructions (for a whopping $31 😄), and looked up other youtubers for the disassembly and replacement, and it now works flawlessly!
Same issue with 2016 Chevy colorado. I bought the lcd monitor , pd $190. Comes with the screen, too. I hope this works. I have been told by audio installers that it's the "main brain" of the raido. After watching numerous videos, I'm trying the lcd screen. They told me to fix the problem, it would cost $1500. Thanks for your video.
Installed new led screen. So far , work's great. It's been 3 days with no issues, and touch screen is fully functional. Your video made instalation easy. Thanks, and keep up good work. Wish I would have seen this months earlier. Could have saved me lots of time and frustration
Update as of April 2nd 2023 after a 10 hour road trip. Matt is the man! Follow all his links including tools, how to take off the radio, replacing the screen, etc. My radio in my 2018 Chevy Silverado was doing the same thing. Changing channels, beeping, turning on when it was off, you name it! Before I found Matt’s video, I was following everyone else’s suggestions, from disconnecting the truck battery, unplugging the blue plug under the glove compartment to checking the fuse. NOTHING! Then I found Matt’s video. $50 for a new screen. DONE! If I would have had taken it to a mechanic it would have been at least $100 just to look at it. Then gave it a 10 hour road test on the way to the in-law’s house. And it was perfect! I knew this was going to drive me crazy if the problem kept happening. I’m Assuming it had to do with the buildup of fingerprints and the oil from your fingers. Just a couple of suggestions; take pictures before each step. Especially when taking off the old screen. The new screen has to go on exactly the same way. And when the new screen is installed id suggest using a thin cloth when pressing it to prevent anymore build up. Matt! Thanks again!
I don't think it has anything to do with build up from fingers I have a 16 silverado got it new I never pulled off the screen protector from the factory it's been on there for years no problems well a few months ago this problem has started with my radio random ghost buttons I thought maybe the screen protector was causing it so I removed it and it still didn't work guess I'll be ordering a screen too
Whats up! Bought a new to me 2019 gmc acadia for the GF in june. Its not even a month later and i have the same issue as u. Esp wen her phone is linked via bluetooth. Dealer said come in to diag it no warranty tho cuz i didnt buy the $4k warranty. Lol. Followed ur instructions to a T. Used your link and the screen and took maybe 20 min to do the job. I spent about an additional 30 min getting the old glue off the screens frame. But all in all, your directions worked like a charm! Thank you! The GF will be very happy! Also, i might add, the screen i bought with your link, did come with double sided tape pre-installed on it, jus peeled it off and stuck it on. I did buy the Amazon version of the take u used and i guess ill use it in the future but wasnt needed! Thanks for your video!
@deanarobertson6745 the exact one he has linked. Did u take the console apart....it appears like it's not the same one but wen u strip it down it fits.
So this is what it’s come to, 65,000 for a truck 5 years old and we need to do this while GM does nothing. Sweet. Thanks for the vid man, should never ever needed to to this but hey
Thank you so much for your video. My 2016 GMC Canyon has had the same issue for about two years now. I installed the touch screen a week ago and so far so good. By the way, it's only $30 now and it comes with adhesive tape, so I didn't need the glue. And it took a LOT of heat from the heat gun to separate the adhesive from the old screen; I needed silicone gloves to manage the process.
Hi I am Steve and my 1500 crew cab is doing the same thing ,would like to know where you order it from so that I can get the touch screen, like you said driving me nuts, very helpful Visio thank you hope it works for me.please send the link so I can order
I’ve been dealing with this issue for years but didn’t know if it was the screen or one of the modules. Ordered the screen part, hope it resolves the issue like it did for you. Thank you.
Just worked on my 2018 Chevy Silverado’s radio today (March 2023). Followed the links you suggested. Replaced the screen. Etc. Now to give it a good long test. 🤞Will leave an update later. Hopefully months later! Going on a four hour road trip and this ghosting would definitely make me go crazy! Thanks for everything!
Thank you for your video. It was very helpful and saved me a ton of money. The job is simple. I'm getting tired of GMC and their electrical issues. Second vehicle in a row I had to replace their faulty equipment. Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. Never again.
I’ll be ordering mine asap! The amount of calls I drop or put on hold are enough to drive me insane! Not to mention only the very left and right edges work on the screen…worst part of all though is navigating while on Apple car play and it adds a stop or changes your entire route when you didn’t know!! 🤬 thanks, can’t wait to enjoy driving my ‘18 again. Best Sierra I’ve owned and will be keeping!
Yes! I just started having the same problem on my 2018 Silverado. Goes back and forth with Apple Play but the worst is randomly putting calls on hold or randomly trying to text. Also locks out the touchscreen so hopefully I can do this fix soon. Is there a link to buy the screen?
I have this issue my 2016. I'll be trying this, but what had me thinking it was something such as the computer is how it changes to screens, menus, etc., that you can't get to from the screen it was originally on, as well as changing the DIC screen. There is no way to change the DIC from the center screen (unless there's some secret method programed in for the factory to test stuff or whatnot) or, for example, go directly from radio to nav and calling Onstar without going through the home screen first (I don't have the nav button on the shortcuts).
Someone else had commented the same thing, that said, mine changed as well and when I did the fix, everything was back to normal. There have been about 1-2% of people it didn't help so far, but that is out of well over a thousand so far (and thats just who I generally know of). I hope it clears everything up in your case so please let me know after you are done :-)
@@MCMROSE Yeah, thanks. Your video is the first reference of any kind I've found that had or mentioned that yours had also randomly changed the DIC. That bit of info was the key that I needed to know that the center screen could do that. Still have no idea how, however, lol, but it's a far cheaper and easier fix then I was anticipating. So thanks again for sharing it. I'll update in few weeks after I get it in and test run it for a bit.
Thank you so much. My 2017 2500 HD was having the same issue and I was not going to spend the money that the dealer wanted to fix this. Utilized Amazon to get the replacement and mine came with the adhesive already attached as part of the replacement digitizer so it made it super simple…..that is after I was able to remove all of the old adhesive which took more time that anything else as I was trying to be careful due to the frame being bendable as you also noted and a great heads up so thanks again.
@@MCMROSE I been fight the exact same issues you posted in your video . I have spent countless hours searching for the fix . Thanks for the video maybe my sanity will somewhat return !!!
Thank you for that information because my trucks been doing the same thing yours was so I will go to eBay to see if I can find that screen. Thank you for the tips that really helped.
I just changed my touch screen on my 2019 Acadia SLT and followed what you did. Before it would just start changing screens, channels, etc. at random. The screen would lock up and not respond. GMC dealer did some firmware/software upgrades. Worked okay for a couple of weeks. Then they wanted to keep. Nope... Works perfect now. Thanks!
I have a 2019 Acadia SLE (with BOSE) and had to make an appt w/the Dealer because no one would do an aftermarket. Thank you for saying it works for the 2019. I am ordering the part now!
🙏🏿 I been having this problem for two years. But I never removed the plastic off the the screen. But I watched your video to see if I take it off would it act better. I went back to working the way it did when I first got it. I believe it’s all the fingerprints touching it….thanks
@@MCMROSE By the way, I got my digitizer from the link you provided for $31.49 with free and fast shipping, and it came with adhesive already on it. Would have been $200 to replace the whole LCD module or $600 to replace the whole front panel with LCD, buttons, knobs, vents, etc. Very happy about that! One note about the model with the adhesive that is already on the digitizer -- once you touch it down, it is STUCK, so make sure it is lined up right.
@@MCMROSE By the way, I took my old digitizer in to show the parts manager at my GMC dealer. He was impressed! I had checked with him a couple of weeks ago just to explore all the parts options. His system was showing the LCD module ($200) no longer available and that the only GM part available was the whole thing with display, buttons, knobs, etc. ($600). I was tempted to go with the Chinese LCD module, but thought, heck I can do this! $31.49 and a couple of hours labor and it was fixed. (Probably was 30 minutes labor and an hour and a half of just "being careful.")
My 2018 LTZ has the same issue, just got back from the stealership ..... They stated they need to change the entire radio at the tune of $900 bucks 😂 Thank God for my extended warranty it's totally covered..... 🙏
I have a 2021 GMC terrain that is doing the exact same thing. Ghost pushes even calling people at times locking up. I’m gonna try and find the screen for my year and unit and hopefully be able to get it out of the dash. Thank you so much and I’ll let you know.
@@MCMROSE it’s very odd. Haven’t found the screen yet but in the meantime, I hook up my Apple CarPlay and if I can hit the button fast enough, it’ll stay on CarPlay and everything will work perfectly with nothing going wrong as long as I’m on there. I’m wondering if that’s a screen thing or something else? Any ideas?
@@poelpro That is weird and could be something different all together. If it is under warranty still, I might take that to the dealer. If not, I would pull the unit out and check all the connections and wires first.
My 2018 GMC Sierra has the same issue and will even mess up my GPS map It has shown my location as being in the water of Tampa Bay.🤪. Parts to fix are on order.
I have 2017 GMC Sierra and does the same thing is annoying 😢 going to order the display screen as well! Can’t seem to find the link to purchase the display though
I have the same issue with my 2016 GMC Canyon and have replaced the screen behind what you replaced! And it did nothing but when I changed the screen like you did and improved the problem but didn't fix it completely so I'm returning the screen and hopefully that will fix it once and for all
I’ve had this problem for over 2 years in my 2017 Sierra and haven’t even bothered fixing it because I figured it would be a thousand dollar wiring issue.
Same issue with my 2018 GMC acadia. Slightly different disassembly. Once the radio unit is out of the dash and the gold screws are removed, you also have to remove the two vent assemblies on the Acadia. Need to pull about 6 tabs outward to release the vents. Probably better to do this before removing the gold screws.
Great video with great links in the description. I bought the screen from the eBay link you provided and it came with adhesive backing already on it, so I ended up not needed the glue strips from Amazon. This solved my issue of the ghost touches! What a relief!!!
It is in the description, but here you go: Screen: ebay.us/NNatz8 Glue: amzn.to/3Hd3afI I'm told by others that they didn't need the glue? I still used it. Hope that helps!
Gawd this happens all the time in my 18 Silverado. Annoying as hell and very distracting... Thank you for posting this! My dealer said it could be the HMI module... (Human Machine Interface) module. $1300 Cad 🤦♂️ Ill try the screen first!
Good video much appreciated, only downside is that touch screen didn’t work for my 2015 GMC . Have to keep looking how to fix that issue of touch screen. Thank you for posting the links though.
Job done. New touch screen working like a champ. I’ll rate this job from 1 out 10 on how hard is it do. I’ll rate it a 4 it’s easy job anybody can do it.
I have the same truck only its a 2019, do you think this will work for me? I am looking at parts and all of them say 2014/15 - 2018, should I be worried about that one year?
Hello, on this link ebay.us/NNatz8 it looks like it covers 2019 as well? Check it out and confirm on your end. It will be down in the description of the screen.
I just replaced the digitizer today. My truck screen is still having the same issues. I did the best I could lining up the new digitizer on the metal frame, but I'm wondering if I didn't get it on there just right. Could it being misaligned slightly cause the problem to continue? I am about to just disconnect the digitizer and go forward using the buttons without a touch screen.
Hi Scott, I'd say at that point it is something else or...on the off chance you got a bad screen, but that is pretty rare. Were you are, I'd want a car audio shop to look and see if they can help. The dealer will charge too much just to try then basically replace the whole unit. My backup plan if I were in that spot would be to just replace the whole unit and be done with it.
@@MCMROSE Some of the phantom touches also change the screen in the instrument panel. It will switch from info mode to audio mode. Why would a bad digitizer also be affecting that screen? I'm wondering if it is something else other than the screen. Maybe something on the circuit board, or a bad connection somewhere else behind the dash.
Thank you! Just ordered the screen and adhesive. My 2017 Canyon started doing the same thing about a year ago and its completely stopped working and randomly selects things and switches stations. Ill give and update on my results when im done! Its pretty concerning the tires have lasted longer than the radio! My canyon only has 55k miles on it.
FYI, depending on the vendor, you may not need to use the tape. The two panels I received from the vendor linked to in the video description came with tape pre-installed. One was black tape, the other clear; they both grip firmly. Cleaning the old tape off the metal frame was the hardest part of this job.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!! I have been trying to look for things to fix this issue without spending tons of money. I have this exact same problem on my 2017 Chevy Silverado and it drives me crazy. I’m definitely going to try this to see if this fixes mine!!
My screen has all the issues you described in your video, with the exception that none of the touch functions work in the middle of the screen, but do work on the perimeter of the screen. Does the replacement address this issue? I would think that it does. What are your thoughts?
As I can't say 100% it will fix it, I would say this (if I were you) It's $40-$50 to try, vs $300-$1,200 any other route. I'd personally try the $40 route as it is the cheapest option and your not out a lot if it doesn't work. But that is just me. I wish I could guarantee it will work, but I'd be lying saying that 😁👍
Great video. My ‘15 Silverado had the same problem a year ago which resolved after removing and re-inserting the fuse on passenger side fuse box. It returned after I had electrical problems which turned out to be bad battery ( despite Advance Auto using their $3,000 diagnostic machine, telling me the battery, starter and alternator were “ fine “ ). The second time I could not change channels properly with finger or paddle, it would always go to one of the preset channels. I replaced the digitizer and now blank screen, although I do get audio, still goes to one preset channel when I use paddle. I’ve removed radio fuse, blue connection in back of glove box and disconnected negative battery cable, all simultaneously and still no screen. Should I replace motherboard ?
Wow, I have not seen one have to go this far. Yours defiantly sounds like a different issue. As I have not had experience on that level I don't have an answer for you. If I find one I will comment here again. If you figure it out, please comment here again to help anyone else that has to go that far :-)
Our 17 dually has done the exact same things. If i pair my phone theres no telling who it will call. Mine changes the language randomly so i have also learn, spanish and french in the last two years. Gracias GM!😂😊

Super stoked for you! Thanks for the great feedback!
Works! Got diagnosis from dealership. the $160 diagnostic fee determined my 2017 Silverado needed a new unit and updated firmware. The link in the description provided the replacement screen with adhesive attached. Full replacement took about an hour and not difficult! Works perfectly!!
Awesome!!
Wow, I can’t believe how common this problem is! I have a 2017 Tahoe and that sucker freezes as well. Now I need to find a fix for that one.
You get the whole unit not just the glass , no glueing or any of that
Awesome! Glad it worked for you!
Do you have a link for the whole unit? I tried replacing the digitizer and still have the same issue.
@@scottmcdonald6595 This is what I bought , easy removal & install . Works like new again
Thank you! Swapped out the touch screen and I no longer want to scrap the truck!!! Quick remove and replace and back up and running 👍
Awesome, glad it worked out for you!
I have a 2015 Colorado with the same issue. I watched this video and decided to order the outside glass component. I swapped out the glass a month ago. I haven's had any glitching of the display. Thanks for posting this video. BTW the dealer said I would have to replace the whole unit for over $1000.
Awesome! Glad you didn't have to burn your money at the dealer for the exact same thing!
Dealership shops are CROOKS.
I have the same problem with my Colorado, do you happen to have a link to the glass component you bought?
Had this issue not to far long after I bought my truck brand new. started with the problem about a year of owning the truck The dealerships knows about this problem they call it the ghost finger I had it replaced under warranty.. now it just started AGain as of July 9th 2023 the headache begins again ..thank you for this video it will be helpful to alot of Chevy owners
Happy To Help Mike!
Fist through the screen feeling is so relatable. Thank you so much for sharing this with the links. Replaced the touch screen today and feels like my sanity has returned when I'm on my truck! No more random touches, calls, etc. You provided a great resource to all of us schizophrenic radio owners!
Happy to help you out Ed!
are you still having 0 issues after replacing the screen?
@@Team83Redfishstill working like a charm.
Thank you! My 2017 Sierra is doing this and it's maddening.
I hear ya, should help out!
Happy to help out!
Really happy it helped 🙂
Very similar situation over here, changing the digitizer this weekend! Fingers crossed 💪🏼
@@charlesyoung310 awesome!
Awesome Lynn, happy to help out!
Love hearing that! Thank you so much and congrats!
I had gotten the update as well and didn't do anything for me personally but this did which is why I wanted to share it 🙂
I have been searching for the fix for my 2017 Sierra...
Man, that is awesome! Really glad it worked for you! That’s the whole reason I wanted to share the video, so mission accomplished ;-)
Fixed mine this morning using the links below. My new screen had adhesive tape which made it even easier. Total cost $34 for the screen and $20 for a heat gun. Thanks for the assist.
Sweet! So much cheaper then the dealership :-)
Happy to help! Exactly why I made the video 🙂
Thank You So Much, It Was Really Helpful. I Had Same Problem And Now I Know How Can I Fix It.
Glad it helped 😁
I've been dealing with this for the last year or so. I haven't experienced the screen flipping problem as much, but the random beeps from the ghost press is super annoying. Most recently I had an issue where the safety disclaimer could not be cleared as the touch screen would not respond to any input. It seems the touch functionality is quickly fading as of today. New screen on the way! This video is a lifesaver.. big thanks guy.
Happy to help out! Let me know how is after the screen replacement!
Which seller did you buy new touchscreen from on ebay that had adhesive already in place?
I too have been looking for a solution on line and my dealer wanted $1,000! I just ordered the part u listed and am so excited this may be the cheap fix! I even looked at alternate stereo options because I wasn’t interested in the same OEM radio replacement- no thanks!! And GMC refused to even discuss any help with this scenario even though I said this problem is readily found online with other GMC/Chevy owners!!!! So many, many thanks in advance. P.S.- being a red head I laughed at your comment of almost punching the screen out!!😂
lol! well, hopefully this saves you from punching anything today 😂
Just did this repair to my 2016 and it worked great. Thanks for your post. October 2023
Great to hear!

@MCMROSE ***Update***
Two months later and still working as it's suppose to.
Awesome! thank you for sharing.
Just ordered everything I’ll keep you posted !!!! Love GM but they should have MANNED up and issued a RECALL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Should do the trick! Happy to help!
Did it work? I’m having the same issue on my 2019 Tahoe

Just finished up changing out the digitizer on my 2015 High Country! I can finally adjust my speakers again & look forward to not having ghost screens! Thanks so much for the video & added confidence. Much love from Waynesville, Ohio!
Awesome, glad it worked for you!
Happy to help out Rick! Honestly just sharing what I was looking for and figured it out.

Awesome, happy to help. I should make a note that they have peel and stick now.
Thanks for posting, my 2018 Suburban has the same issue. No way I was giving the dealer the $1600 they wanted, now I can fix it myself.
$1,600?! Well let me know if the $50 method works 😁

Awesome update!!! Congrats on getting it fixed!
@MCMROSE so what's the link for screen my 2018 silverado does the same it will drive u nuts

Thank you so much for your video. My 2016 GMC Canyon has had the same issue for about two years now. I installed the touch screen a week ago and so far so good. By the way, it's only $30 now and it comes with adhesive tape, so I didn't need the glue. Best Sierra I’ve owned and will be keeping!

I have been having the same issues for 9 moths. Your solution WORKED!!! Thank you
Sweet 🙂
Thank you. Just got a 2017 suburban and it started doing this on the way home from the dealership. Assumed it was gonna cost me a ton.
I cannot believe someone finally found the fix. Do you think I could use a hair dryer instead of a heat gun?
I would say yes, it may just take longer :-)

@@WilliamParmley appreciate those notes for others who are looking into this!
Clean the screen really good with no streak glass cleaner and a sock or something. Fixed my problem.

Job done. New touch screen working like a champ. I’ll rate this job from 1 out 10 on how hard is it do. I’ll rate it a 4 it’s easy job anybody can do it.
@@iTEXAXBOY Sweet, glad to hear! Ya, I'd say 4 as well.
@FRGSO 17 Did you replace the whole screen?
Thanks for the links!! My 2017 GMC was doing the same thing and driving me absolutely bonkers
Happy to help!
@@MCMROSE Thank you!
Did the job this morning. Thanks for the info, helped a ton!!
Works great now, Fingers crossed. Update in a few weeks 🤞🤞
Awesome, mine is still going strong so hopefully yours will be as well!
@@MCMROSE Still Working!! Thanks Again
You are more then welcome, I was in the same boat which is why I made the video :-)
I wish I could guarantee it will work, but I'd be lying saying that 😁👍
Thank you for the video, had the same problem. Ordered the TFT Screen and problem solved. Thank for posting.
