Thanks for this! I ordered the same component from same place for my 2017 Canyon and arrived within a couple of days. Your video really helped me install - as I had no clue how to replace it. Thanks again, bro.
I have to laugh about you punching the screen. Have wanted to do so multiple times. This is the second screen to go bad for me. I paid 400+ to the dealership to replace the first one. I appreciate your video and the link because I spent $177 with expedited shipping.
Thanks dude! Saved me $1,400 (the dealership wanted to charge me for a total replacement). Glad I found your video. It was VERY helpful. Found the screen on Amazon for $170. Now I have a touchscreen again and it's not chaotically clicking random options!
@@codycannon8866 Not yet. I don't really listen to the radio or anything, so I've mostly just been ignoring it. I'll update here when I eventually do bring it in.
Thanks for the great video. I would like to offer a little bit of insight. On my 2017 GMC Acadia Denali, I had to remove the a/c vents to get the plastic backing off. Also, everybody is worried about breaking the old glass as they scrape it off the aluminum frame. Who cares if you crack it or break it as long as you don't cut yourself or bend the frame. After you get it removed, place a rag or paper towel down on a flat surface. Spray some goo remover on it and place the frame goo side down in it and let it soak for a few minutes. Then, use a wire brush, something stiff like you would use on a battery terminal and scrape all the crap off. Once it's cleaned off, you put the new piece on, and you're good to go.
I just wanted to say Thank You Very Much! I installed my new touch screen today and it works like a champ. I could have never done it without your video. No more ghost pressing and I am finally able to set the clock and have my favorite radio stations set. Now when I drive I enjoy the ride instead. What a Difference Thanks Again
Brother! I have came so close to punching my screen so many times. Great video. I have seen this problem on so many threads that I am surprised there has not been a recall. I appreciate the info 🤙
Dude, I want to say thanks for your video. I’ve just replaced the screen on my recently purchased 2016 Canyon and I’m delighted. It’s been annoying me since I got it and I would never have tried to fix it myself without this video. Cheers! 🍻
Thanks a lot! I replaced the display on mine on my 2018 Chevy Colorado. It took me 30 min to fix it. It was ghost touching and the center of the display was not working. It looks to be fine now wit the new display, but time will tell. Took my truck to the dealer and they wanted me to pay $1500. So really thanks for this video. Saved like $1000 ($250 for display plus shipping, $250 for having my trucked checked at the dealership )
Thank you so much for this video as well as the reference to that website! I was able to do it in less then 30mins when the part came in from that website!
Thank you for this helpful video and finding a replacement source. My 2017 Colorado screen started beeping and changing screens without me touching it today. By reading comments on RUclips found out it's a common problem. Truck only has 14k miles on it so not a quality product from the factory.
So I assume you detach the green circuit board from the screen when you remove 2nd 2 flat straps. Then put the green board onto replacement unit by reconnecting those 2. Then reconnecting the radio strap and the reverse steps to fiish installation
Same issue here. 2017 Cayon Denali, phantom clicks every 10 to 20 seconds or so. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesn't. Heat might be an issue. I will definitely order a new screen and thank you for sharing how to do it!
Thanks. Ordered a replacement from Opuradio and replaced the screen last week. So far so good - my new touchscreen is not possessed like the old one. I was really surprised at how good the Opuradio customer service was. The dash fascia removal took some patience and the three electrical connections were all different and each one was a different puzzle to figure out (it's amazing how many different types of connector GM can put into one vehicle).
Great job figuring this out. I spent countless hours researching a solution to the ghost touching screen. Yours is the only solution I came across. Mine is a 2017 GMC Acadia so I had to take it apart twice. Once to make sure it was the same exact screen as yours, put it back together, order the part and wait, then repeat the process and put the new screen in. It was the same exact screen but I had a slight problem getting the plastic back off. After removing all the screws the cover was loose but would not come off. I ended up having to remove the 2 air duct pieces in order to remove the plastic cover. Except for that everything worked perfectly.
Well I replaced the screen and now nothing works pretty annoyed with myself. As I was taking off the old screen I scratched the screen in a couple of spots too. I probably messed it up somehow. I’ll pull it off in the daylight and see what’s what but worst case I saw I can get a whole stereo setup for $175 which is WAY cheaper than dealing with the dealership
Just did this swap on my 2018 Colorado that was suffering the ghost touch effect. Took me about 35 min or so. The plastic on the video connector is very fragile and the clip part of it fell apart but it stayed on when I reattached everything. Everything seems to be working great and the picture seems a little clearer. Hope it holds up.
Thanks for the video. As a first step, I took my assembly out, popped out the ribbon cable between the display and the PCB, cleaned the contacts with rubbing alcohol, and popped the cable back in. I put the assembly back and my touchscreen is working again (we'll see if it holds though). I'll comment back in a few weeks, so I'm not keeping everyone in suspense ;)
@@8180634 No, it isn't. I had to have it replaced by the dealer. They said I can only get a new display from the dealer, ta boot. Expensive! (As you can guess, when people have no choice.)
One thing to keep in mind is to be very mindful of putting the black plastic display assembly cover (the one being held down by 12 screws). The 10 or 12 pin connector pins and the USB connector actually go through the cover and can be easily bent (ask me how I know).
Ok. I just replaced my screen with the one I ordered from Opuradio. Thanks to the excellent help from this video, the replacement went pretty well. One part I had problems with was disconnecting the three wires from the back of the panel. Two of them are pretty clear on the tab to push. The third one had a tab at the bottom and this was hard to see as there isn't enough wire to pull the panel out very far to work on these connector tabs. Once this was done, it all went well. Oh, also. On the new screen. Take off the protective clear cover before starting the installation. Otherwise you'll have trouble getting it off when all put back together.
I replaced my touchscreen and reinstalled it but now the display isn’t working. It was working when I pulled it. The new touchscreen is functioning but the screen is black. Any ideas as to what is causing this. I pulled it and checked all my connections- reinstalled but still black and now no backup camera either???
I would check the ribbon cables or just reconnect the old one but don’t fully install it and see if it does the same thing? I’m not a technician but maybe process of elimination. Sorry your having these issues.
Glad I didn’t pay $800 for a fucking replacement radio from Chevy because they don’t know how to make a good electronics fixed it for 25 bucks. I wish I did it years ago. It’s been driving me nuts.
