- I've been trying out the new Samsung Odyssey Ark monitor setup since release and I'm still wondering who this is for... Here's my honest thoughts!

Honestly don’t know why all these RUclipsrs are complaining about not able to use multi screens. This is a monitor and not a TV and with the new windows functionality since W10 you don’t need multiport’s coming out from your pc to the monitor to enjoy multiple screens. You can just stack your windows next to each other the way you want with new windows features. Only issues we had before is monitors where small and if you stuck 4 windows you get bad pixels. And this is the right monitor for it. It act like 4 monitors in one which decent size if you stack 4 windows or even more if you wish, just move your window to the side and your system will smartly detect the squares on the monitor and give you all possibilities

You did not showed ULTRAWIDE gaming with the UW aspect ration and that is a BIG selling point. This can give you standard gaming and UW gaming for games that can take advantage of the wider resolution.
I moved from an ultrawide to this for that reason, well said. the monitor itself is a joy to use and own, id recommend it to anyone who fancies it
I've been loving Oleds since around 2019 with the LG C9, and more recently with the Samsung S95B, but both do get screen burn in, each roughly after a year for me, both auto dim at annoying times which i get it, but still... and both these oled's i've used have very noticeable VRR gamma flicker. I think this monitor minus the gimmicks may be for those who are actually kind of getting fed up with OLED's downfalls.

That monitor looks HUGE when you stand next to it. How tall are you? Did you set it up alone?
😄👍🏻 Ohhh it’s absurdly heavy, I think it’s 118LBS. Plus when you have it in the vertical orientation it’s super awkward to move around. I set it up by myself at first and definitely reconsidered my life after moving it desk to desk 😂. And yes it’s actually giant in person, I’m 6’1 and feel like a hobbit next to it.

Where you able to try 4k 120 on the Xbox Series X during your time with this monitor?
Needs a firmware update to squash the bugs before I’d buy. Otherwise not worth the effort. To many frustrating issues for such an expensive monitor. Hard pass.

Eventually, I think SAMSUNG will address some but not all of these issues.
@@r.t.watson738 I wouldn't hold my breath. They've had plenty of time to release a fw update by now (been several months) and nothing. This thing is useless at this size if it can't even accept two input sources at a time.
Wish you said something about the on display menus and what not. I saw that blue screen where it shows the input and on the samsung s95b it is HORRIBLE. It lags so badly

dude could you give me an idea if you saw both of these;
lets say i will play spiderman, god of war, rdr2 etc. what should i choose, 32'' 4k for more crispyness or 42'' 4k for more immersiveness (idk if i use these words correctly but i think you'll get it),
i wanna know is extra ppi worth to choose over extra immersive screen size
Wish I could see this thing in person. I think cockpit mode would be cool to have the bottom 2/3 for options trading, and the top 1/3 with like plex open or something. I wish I could see how far out the "bottom" of the monitor can come out towards you in cockpit mode. If that came out far enough it would be like laying one monitor at like 30-45 degrees up to the next one at eye level, then the third at traditional stacked monitor height.

Hello i have odyssei ark and while full screen gaming at 165 hz and i am quit game or alt tab , screen goes black and have circle turning on it for 3-4 sec like its loosing signal , if game is on 120hz with full screen no issue also 165 hz with windowed or bordless screen no problem and also while gaming HDR shows off. It must goes ,,on'' himself while gaming no ?
Nice review but you made a mistake at counter @3:20. There you say that in vertical mode (Cockpit Mode), it’s like having three 27” inch monitors but that is incorrect. In vertical mode it’s like having three 32” inch monitors! It is only in regular mode it would be the equivalent of four 27” inch monitors. You’re welcome!

1:43 ... how do you get your resolution like that? Every time I ho into cockpit mode i get a small monitor at the bottom. Not full screen
I had the same issue. To put the Odyssey Ark in portrait (“cockpit”) mode for your computer, go into the Odyssey Ark menus:
Settings -> **Screen Ratio** -> 9:16 (portrait, or 16:9 landscape)

You don’t have a GPU with hdmi? Display port is useless.
i would love this for my pro work, but can i have this vertically but not that high? I mean, can you use this in vertical as down as possible to the desk and tilt it a bit so that the top side comes in a more normal view angle for your head? I dont wanna break my neck looking for the 3rd (top) monitor.

Not accepting two different input sources simultaneously is a deal breaker for me. It's hard to understand this design choice, the elements are all there to easily set it up. Weird, weird decision.

@joel9909 in all honesty i think they should have waited for the new hdmi port to come out because it is supposed to have more bandwidth than hdmi 2.1 and would have fully supported all that the current ark was supposed to do but can't also and we will most likely see a successor to the ark eventually like a ark 2 or whatever samsung decides to name it?

Does seem odd, but you can still stick RUclips and casted pages from iPad at the same time as the works laptop. £1600 and it comes with good built in speakers, seems like a decent purchase.

nah, the entire display is 4k. with 3 separate windows your essentially dividing a 4k display by 3.

@@Marco-to5iy if the tab is Fullscreen meaning its one tab on 100% of the display that tab is 4k because the entire screen is 4k and that tab is using the entire screen. now however smaller you make the tab the amount of pixels that tab takes up is less, meaning less resolution. so if your using 3 tabs all next to each other on the screen. your pretty much dividing 4k quality up by three

Definitely, I’d just say you’d need to sit at a distance where you aren’t too close to the screen.

One thing to answer, that I do not see being addressed in most videos for this product. Can this display properly handle 32:9 resolution from PC titles? Please let me be clear, I am not asking about using the displays own 32:9 screen option as like Samsung 4k/8K Tvs that also offer 32:9 screen modes. They seem to reduce this to 3840x1080. So the question I put forward is seeking to test the display at 5120x1440 res that we can get with the G9 series?
Appreciate any help or feedback with this.

Yes, as long as that title supports that aspect ratio natively. Forced aspect ratio doesn't always work and it depends on the software, not hardware.
The "9" in the "32:9" is 1080pixels, and being that the Ark is 3840x2160, 32:9 mode will get you 3840x1080 natively.
You can't get 5120x1440p on the Ark natively (obviously). You can supersample and certainly get some better clarity at 5120x1440p, but that is dependent on how far away your viewing distance is, what clarity your eye sight is, and the content.

I had the same hangup. In the Odyssey Ark menus:
Settings -> **Screen Ratio** (pretty deep down the line) -> 9:16 (portrait, or 16:9 landscape)

3. High refresh rate
(Maybe 18 by 9 format)
The rest is almost irrelevant. It has so many features driving up the prices😔. Otherwise its positively absurd.
I'm waiting for Ark 55 8K, I don't know if it is ever going to be released or not. 4K is not enough for 55 inch

@Crus Ader i own 11 monitors 😂 look bro. This monitor is equal to 3x27 inch Full HD monitors Stacked together vertically..So what you are looking at is not True 4K, correct me if I'm wrong

the worst thing about the monitor: is a VA panel, YES a VA panel on a 3500 bucks monitor, not OLED not IPS...

I returned it for exactly that reason. Compared to my Neo G8 it looks washed out.

@@jodea6099 I didn't notice any scan lines. But what I did notice is that if you run more than one window vertically each one is only 1080p. Also the scaling on this monitor is horrible. Compared to the Neo G8 things look washed out and nowhere near as sharp.

Not worth the increase given the state of graphics cards and last gen consoles imo.
I've been using mine to play overwatch 2 4k resolution with a 3090ti and getting 170 fps on average on highest settings.
Can't really spot any pixels at 80cm's distance.
So I'd say it's alright for what it is.
@@halil_alkoc I was so excited about the ark while it sat in my Outback Wilderness, for an entire work shift. I even had a buyer ready to go, for my Odyssey Neo G8. I would have been so pissed!.....if I would have sold by Neo G8 and was stuck with the ark. If you've never seen the Neo G8 then the ark is a pretty good monitor. But if you have experienced the Neo G8's clarity, colors and pixel density.... there's no way you can keep the ark! I tried everything I could to try and be complacent with the ark. I even had my Neo G8 boxed up and ready to go to the next owner lol... that would be like trading a Mitsubishi Eclipse 2nd gen for 3rd gen🤦♂️ Best Buy still has the ark that I returned weeks ago.
I have read that people have experienced scanlines on the G8. My monitor does not exhibit that defect🙂👍
