That wasn't really a things I didnt know, more of a synopsis of the show, and you left out the fact Lion-O's pod didnt preserve him properly, so when they arrived on third earth, he was an adult. The whole point of the show was that he had an adolescent mind, but the body and responsibilities of an adult, and how he had to learn to be a decent person and a leader extremely quickly.
Earle Hyman, the voice actor for Panthro, was also Bill Cosby's father in "The Cosby Show".

I found an audiobook version of the Autobiography of Malcolm X where Earle Hyman reads it. I can't find any record of it existing but I have it. Bad hissing in the background but the way he reads it is amazing!

Hey, I remember the SilverHawks and TigerSharks, but ThunderCats was in a whole new level. It was huge back in those days.
That's right! So huge, that it, for me, completely overshadowed everything Silverhawks and Tiger Sharks... and I grew up in the 80's!

Yeah they left out the whole Lion-O starts out as a kid, but his hibernation chamber malfunctioned so he aged into an adult. Kind of the whole Captain Marvel (DC/Shazam version) kid being an adult wish fulfilment.
How she pronounced jaga gave it away.

One key characteristic of Lion-O that most people never mention is that... he was a kid. His hibernation chamber had failed, so his body grew, yet his mind hadn't matured accordingly. And still, he was lord of the Thundercats, so he was to forced to mature, and Jaga would teach him every so often.
Also, there were still some humans on 3rd earth.

Thundercats was my jam growing up in the 80s. I was just the right age when it premiered and I’d watch it with the boys next door. I didn’t really have a favorite character but I loved it when they introduced the new characters in the second season.
Tygra's the best. Loved his theme, too.

That's "Pumira" (poom-EYE-rah) for the female Thundarian, not Pumm-Ra (who was Mumm-Ra in disguise as a Thundercat).
This was my childhood, I was an 80's kid, and Thundercats was my all-time favorite.
My favorite episodes were the Trials of Lion-O and that one which featured the battle between Jaga and Grune the Destroyer. 😁
Tygra was my favorite among them and he had the coolest individual Thundercat theme.

They should have kept the Thundercats reboot going. That was one of the best seasons yet of the Thundercats. Yes darker but look at the world around us. It ain't the 80s no more.
80's were dark. Cold war was escalating. As a kid, there was a feeling on the playground you would look up and see the missiles coming. This was really reflected in the music of the time.
Cartoons, on the other hand, gave us a clearly defined good guy and bad guy. Similar to USA vs the "evil empire" - very reassuring at the time.
I was really excited for that 2011 reboot but the story wasn't compelling. It's weird cuz the 2011 version was better than the 80's version but the level of writing nowadays for that type of serious darker tone animation (Castlevania, Young Justice, Spawn and Voltron) is so much higher. Not to sound cliche but it's the Golden Age of Television. The writers really should've brought their 'A' game to that script and not rely on nostalgia alone. I hope they get to try it again and just get a MUCH better story.
The toys didn't sell. That's the reason they cancelled it... and Cartoon Network doing wonky things with the scheduling didn't help.
2011 Thundercats was great, loved it more than the original I grew up watching.

My favorite ThunderCat is Panthro. He looked and sounded like my older brother, who is a martial artist and also uses nunchucku. And get this. My brother was a military mechanic. I think my brother was secretly Panthro irl. 😂😄

Tygra is my favorite too and he also has the best theme song. The thunder tank is a close second for me. The soundtrack of the show is really under rated.

The music was so awesome I taught myself to play quite a few themes on my keyboard. 🎹🎶
The guitar shredding in the opening and ending themes were godtier. The soundtrack really deserves a release.
My kid brother still has his Snarf teddy over 30 year's later and he gave it to his daughter the only cool thing I have left from my childhood is my rocklord robot that transforms into a rock

I watched it in The late 80s. With Scooby Doo. I liked Cheetara and snarf. But Mamra was my all time favorite.😊😊

Unpopular Opinion: I liked Snarf, or at least I wasn’t irritated by him. He was Lion-o’s Nanny, he treated him like the child his mind still was, and had minor ability like talking to animals...it’s kind of messed up, the Snarf species were basically 2class citizens to slaves of the Thundarians, but Snarf stuck around bc he liget cared about Lion-o, and bc the Thundercats, the highest in Thindarian society came to view him as one of them, not just the nursemaid to the Prince.
Creator was from Pittsburgh?! This my city. Glad to say the creator of one of the best cartoons ever grew up on my side of the tracks.
Tygra was/is my favorite ThunderCat, although Panthro has my favorite weapon. I loved this cartoon growing up!

I liked the 2011 thunder cats it had a solid plot line. The 80's thunder cat theme song is awesome. My favorite characters was Panthro, Willy Kat and Willy Kit. Another 80's cartoon that i thought was solid was Brave Starr.

Mumra didn't have anything to do with Thundera reforming. It was Jagara. Jaga's old friend. She had the machine the gyroscope that pulled the planet back together. It was not as big as the original planet but it was still big enough.

I'm from the UK, and I remember when Thundercats debuted there (that awesome intro!!!) but I don't remember the later seasons at all! I don't think they were ever actually shown there.
I liked the entire Thunder Cats "clan"...although I have to admit that Lynx-o did give good advice.
I loved this show! One of my top 3rd favorite animated series and Lion-o one of my top 3.

i always held a fondness for masters of the bo staff. combine that with a speedster who somehow felt "realistic" and you can figure out who i voted for.

My favorite mutant was Vultureman. I love Snarfer and my favorite episodes are Lion-o Annointment Trials...I am a huge fan...

Thundercats was a Japanese animated series. Voice acting is workdwide since it was translate and dub in many languages. For me they speak spanish. jajaja
