One of the best scenes I remember fondly of the thundercats is one where the head of the new lions den falls over Snarf, Snarf was still alive and wounded and started to fade away and when Lion O saw this lifted the entire head alone, it gives me goosebumps still today.
Yea, I left an actual comment, where he actually bailed them all out of some shit more than a few times, thereby proving himself a valuable member of the group.
As an 80’s kid, Thundercats was life. Had all the toys. Was Lion-O for Halloween. Repeatedly watched the OG cartoon movie on VHS. Still have the #1 comic from Marvel/Star. And as an adult, I still say “Good riddance to bad rubbish! Snarf snarf!” (Classic Snarf line)
I lived in France in the 80s. On Wednesdays we had Thundercats, Robotech and Fist of the North Star all on the same day one after the other. The holy trinity!!!
both as a kid growing up and as a teenager rewatching it during the early days of Toonami, I noticed all of that as a fan, I could have easily pointed out more than you did, like how Thundercats explicitly stated that gold has absolutely no value outside of what people ascribe to it (Thundercats being one of the few kids cartoons to point out how money has an arbitrary value) or how there's a whole colony of Amazons, excuse me Warrior Maidens, who have managed to thrive in spite of being exclusively female there are other things that could be pointed out besides those also, it's easy to take a dump on Snarf, but "Snarf Takes Up The Challenge" basically kills those arguments now Snarfer on the hand has no redeeming qualities, he's just a younger, more annoying version of Snarf
Gold is an excellent conductor, and very resistant to corrosion. If they mentioned that, we could have actually learned science in that episode. On Napoleon's dueling pistols, some strategic parts and accessories were gold-plated so they would never rust.
You have a point about the Warrior Maidens. Eventually I wondered where little Warrior Maidens came from. They never explained that, and maybe it was a missed opportunity. Also, they were the only humans on Third Earth besides Mumm-Ra.
Here is something I realized as an adult: I don't see how Liono's body could keep growing without food while improperly suspended. If he somehow did get nutrients it seems highly unlikely he would leave suspended animation with the muscular body he has.
Yeah that's a goid point. However, gorillas look like that without 'working out' like human men do. And male lions are pretty ripped as well, despite doing little of the hunting. I assume both are due to high resting testosterone. Humans had a steep drop in testosterone during our evolutionary history compared to other apes because cooperation (instead of aggression) became increasingly advantageous, leading to large civilizations and collaborative inventions. So biologically a thundercat could just be more like a muscular lion/gorilla, and perhaps their society was also more contentious. They codified a king into law, sure. So biologically it seems at least plausuble, but the sticking point remains that he should have had an IV or a feeding tube in his nose.
I was obsessed with Thundercats when i was a young boy. My every waking moment was spent wishing for more episodes. I also grew up with a liking of swords 😉 my favorite one is a nearly 1k$ Zatoichi hand forged straight blade. I wish it was magical 😂
@chillchi They lumped in Orko and Snarf with Scrappy to make it seem like they had a point. I don't care what you name the show Scrappy was annoying. The entire reason the 1st live action Scooby made Scrappy the villain was because he had been voted the most annoying character ever on Scooby. When they renamed it with Scrappy in the title that only made the show worse. He was a whiny distraction for the team when he originally appeared. When they reformatted the show it was just him Shaggy and Scooby running from real ghosts and monsters.
Snarf saved them like 4 major times. Orko was one of the most powerful beings in the HeMan universe. Whom also saved the day a few times. When Orko turned evil he had ERRRRRRRRRY ONE SHOOK! But the info of the video was cool.
A few years ago DC did a comic mini series with a Thunder Cats and He-Man cross over that was surprisingly excellent. I appreciate that they assumed the reader would be familiar with the properties instead of spending three issues explaining who the characters are.
Great observations! This legitimately has insights and isn't just snark from people looking back on cartoon stuff that didn't make sense because it was written to sell toys...
So Thundercats is actually a story about the last human on Earth fighting a valiant and heroic fight to protect his home from myriad alien invaders. Inspiring.
You 2 must be kidding. Are you devil worshippers?! The Thundercats series were a bit of galactic historic fact. Nope, that ugly looking monster is actually of reptilian/vampire origin. Be very careful of what you invoke…
That was honestly, interesting. I grew up in the 80's watching that cartoon and didn't know that some of these facts were how the shows background went. Pretty cool.
@@EgadsNo Albeit the cartoon ran from 1985 to 1989 season 1 consisted of 65 episodes and season 2 was originally suppose to be 60 episodes but was broken down and extended to 3 seasons consisting of 20 episodes each! So that is why and how we got 4 seasons!
Great Video. I have thought waaaay too hard about Thundercats too. It was my favorite show and toys as a kid. My friends and I have several in-depth conversations around the campfire about cartoon lore and how deep the writers go considering most were kids shows made just to sell the toys. Gummy Bears is another one thats really tragic and really weird. There is some deep lore with that show too. And it opens up the conversation regarding Disney charachters rarely having both parents. Where did Cubbi and Sunni come from? Are they Grammi's kids or did they lose their parents in the exodus? Are they all related? These things keep me up at night. P.S. Duke Igthorn is one of the best villians ever written. He cracks me up to this day.
When I was a kid, this shows theme opening always got me so hyped up. I'm in the UK and I always remember it being on a Thursday on CBBC with Philip Schofield in the broom cupboard.
That's because they were done by Japanese/Korean studios and therefore are essentially anime. Then they started wanting to save money and began using American or other lesser country animation studios and the quality suffered greatly.
If you have time check out the short lived remake of this series it's actually good they gave back stories to the other cats. Can't say the same for the new thunder cats it looks awful.
I always took it that 3rd Earth was in reference to the Earth being the 3rd planet from the sun, like how in Star Trek they call planets Rigel 4. How they knew to call it Earth? Who knows.
Original meaning of the world earth is ground, the very ground we walk on. Then the idea of planet dawned on the human race, so earth became Earth, the Planet Earth. So take this as in the native tongue of Thundercats, they called their home planet Earth too; and when they landed on a new planet, it's logical they call the new planet Earth too.
@@siewheilou399 LOL maybe the Thundercats' word for planet is earth, so it's like saying we are living on 3rd planet (from the sun) now. Interesting. Of course, the Thundercats wouldn't be speaking English, but Thundarian, and it gets translated for us as viewers.
I always thought names like Rigel 4 and Rigel 3 were referring to how many other Rigel-named planets there were and why they federation people didn't just come up with other names. Eg, this one is called Rigel. The next one, instead of saying it's Rigel 2, should be... Voldem...well, we can't say that name.
@@pershop4950 Rigel would be the name of the star system/solar system. Rigel 1 would be the first planet closest to the central star in the Rigel system. It may have its own name as a planet as well. Our planet is Earth (really called Terra) but Earth is also called Sol 3 because we are in the Sol system and our sun's name is Sol and we are the third planet away from Sol.
I'd love to see a Mumm-Ra origin story where he destroys First Earth and constantly battles his good counterpart Mumm-Rana over control of Second Earth.
I’d forgotten it was all Jaga’s fault...how could he have known that hurdling the equivalent of 1000 nuclear warheads into a volcano would have catastrophic effects...😏
@@Robidu1973 Indeed. As in the episode when Snarf is offered to retire and return to the nearest Snarf colony it nearly breaks my heart at seeing how heartbroken both he and Lion-Oh seem.
In one episode when Mumrah had all Thunder Cars kidnapped and nearly mummified Snarf overcame all fears and saved them all, and Lion o boldly told Mumrah he underestimated the bravest of all Thunder Cats, Snarf, as bravery is not about having no fear but overcoming them.
Everyone who watched all the episodes AND the movie set between the two seasons know this stuff. You aren't telling us anything Thundercats fans don't know.
I really liked the music on the background. Please tell us what it is called. I watched some 20 videos on the channel and nowhere is a music artist listed. PLEASE SAY WHAT THE MUSIC IS
I always wondered why Jaga save only a few Thundercats of a possible population of millions and how exactly they were going to increase their numbers with only 2 females in a dangerous new environment. .
Man, I totally thought this was about certain jokes or wayward glances between Cheetara and Tigra. Though, to be fair, Lion-O being like 12 was a constant plot point, due to him being quick to anger and impatient. Also, despite his flaws, Snarf actually bailed them out of some shit, more than a few times, thereby proving himself a valuable member of the group.
Thundercats had elements of Star Wars and Superman, mixed with classic 80s Japanese animation. Intriguing storylines, amazing voice work, and memorable good and evil characters make Thundercats the quintessential 80s cartoon.
I disagree with you snarf is not annoying. Thundercats was more than a children’s animation show that’s what makes it so great. Most 80’s children’s shows had some adult themes that’s what’s makes these shows so special. Snarf always a maternal/paternal figure to lion-o saying snarf is annoying is saying parents are annoying and that’s what I feel is wrong with the Nickelodeon/disney generation.

@@lastwolflord That's probably what they did; they watched ThunderCats 1x01, liked it so much they binged some more & wanted to create a summary of it. Then someone else who had no idea what was going on coughed up an arbitrary lurid title for the video when they uploaded it.
Orange Unitard, iron on Eye of Thundara decal, cut the leg off of a semi-transparent pare of orange tights........ Of course other than the unitard I think most of it is her skin/fur coloring so if you are any good with body paint. Then you just need a staff, broom handle should work well enough.
Travis Smith I would prefer her classic outfit with yellow full body tights, an orange cross back strap leotard or one piece swimsuit, the Thunder Cats decal, orange boots, the wig, makeup, and orange gloves with fur and claw details. As for the staff the broom handle could work of painted and cut properly. Right now I haven’t the funds for it. But thank you, though.
It was hotter and the economy wasn’t that great but at least we had cheap gas and no one cared what anyone else thought. The 80’s was the best time to be a kid!
Wow, really? Third Earth is Earth... you don't say? Who would have thought? You don't need to be an adult to realize that; I understood it quite easily when I watched it when I was 9 back in '85. And it wasn't just Merlin who showed up; _Excalibur_ and the Sword of Omens and Excalibur started fighting _by themselves_ flying up in the air,,, until Excalibur won by piercing right through the Eye of Thundera, killing the Sword of Omens and sapping the Thundercats of their power (apparently the 'Cats were empowered quite a but by the magic of the Eye.) Luckily Merlin was able to use his magic to heal the Eye of Thundera and fix everything. Not to mention that Willa and all the other Warrior Maidens were clearly fully human.

Yea, I left an actual comment, where he actually bailed them all out of some shit more than a few times, thereby proving himself a valuable member of the group.
You have to admit IRL worrywarts tend to get a lot of shit tho. Doesn't mean they're not invaluable. But they get on people's nerves a lot.
I get slammin the Scappy Doo's & the 7-Zark-7's of the cartoon world but not Snarf. Snarf was always a favorite for me

This way great and as a huge ThunderCats fan I appreciate appreciate! this so much this triggered so many suppress memories kudos😵💫😎😎💪🏽💪🏽
When I was in school in the 80s at the end of the day the Kids often yelled "Thundercats Hooo" as we were exiting the building.
I still do. 😁

@Rafael Ferreira also good ,they had the most sophisticated cartoon then ,Gargoyles and the greatest most complicated villain Demona
I have a Thundercats hoodie I wear all the time and I still get the war cry now and then, I love my elder millenial brethren.
When I was in Cali in the 80s it was Robotech at 4:00 and Thundercats at 4:30 🤗
I lived in France in the 80s. On Wednesdays we had Thundercats, Robotech and Fist of the North Star all on the same day one after the other. The holy trinity!!!
Laurence Aguillard robotech ftw. I heard they are trying to put together a live action version.

Classic 👍😂
Remember the guy from Silverhawks, his was just as cool.
both as a kid growing up and as a teenager rewatching it during the early days of Toonami, I noticed all of that
as a fan, I could have easily pointed out more than you did, like how Thundercats explicitly stated that gold has absolutely no value outside of what people ascribe to it (Thundercats being one of the few kids cartoons to point out how money has an arbitrary value) or how there's a whole colony of Amazons, excuse me Warrior Maidens, who have managed to thrive in spite of being exclusively female
there are other things that could be pointed out besides those
also, it's easy to take a dump on Snarf, but "Snarf Takes Up The Challenge" basically kills those arguments
now Snarfer on the hand has no redeeming qualities, he's just a younger, more annoying version of Snarf
I paused the video to look for this comment. I wish I could just go to sleep and wake up ripped!
@ peter swinkels...ummmm it can happen cuz it's a cartoon thats not real
But it's strange that Wily Kit and Wily Kat, who were older than Lion-O, didn't grow older!
The theme song is an amazing music piece.
This clearly means I was born as a fully formed adult.

I was obsessed with Thundercats when i was a young boy. My every waking moment was spent wishing for more episodes. I also grew up with a liking of swords 😉 my favorite one is a nearly 1k$ Zatoichi hand forged straight blade. I wish it was magical 😂
The sheer amount of effort they put on this show. Love the dark scifi fantasy of 80s TV and film. I miss it dearly.
Snarf is always saving the day. I disliked this video how dare you criticising him
@chillchi They lumped in Orko and Snarf with Scrappy to make it seem like they had a point.
@chillchi my mistake I read it as saying Scrappy fit in the show, since his name's in the title.
Snarf saved them like 4 major times. Orko was one of the most powerful beings in the HeMan universe. Whom also saved the day a few times. When Orko turned evil he had ERRRRRRRRRY ONE SHOOK! But the info of the video was cool.
Why IS everyone hating on Snarf? Snarf is a Thundercat!!!!!!
If you don't believe me then ask the Lord of the Thundercats himself!!!!!!
A few years ago DC did a comic mini series with a Thunder Cats and He-Man cross over that was surprisingly excellent. I appreciate that they assumed the reader would be familiar with the properties instead of spending three issues explaining who the characters are.
"Of all the Thundercats characters he's the one with whom we share DNA." They encounter humans on Third earth all the time.
Like the tree girls, the samurai dude etc

Exactly
Great observations! This legitimately has insights and isn't just snark from people looking back on cartoon stuff that didn't make sense because it was written to sell toys...
So Thundercats is actually a story about the last human on Earth fighting a valiant and heroic fight to protect his home from myriad alien invaders.
Inspiring.
There's a few other humans left on Third Earth but yeah. Mumm-Ra is the good guy.
You 2 must be kidding.

The Thundercats series were a bit of galactic historic fact.
Nope, that ugly looking monster is actually of reptilian/vampire origin.

That was honestly, interesting. I grew up in the 80's watching that cartoon and didn't know that some of these facts were how the shows background went. Pretty cool.
The 80's was the best nothing will ever be like it!

@@jeanlouis2068 The show ran from 1985-1989.
Other adults notice in Thundercats: "Thundercats!"

The Sword of Omens has a vertical eye, like a cat.

Whoever invented that Snarf character should be punished severely for crimes against humanity.
Really liked the animation in these 1980's shows. They started getting lazy in later years.
That's because they were done by Japanese/Korean studios and therefore are essentially anime. Then they started wanting to save money and began using American or other lesser country animation studios and the quality suffered greatly.
Carnage6X 🗣Woow❗️,😃thats Interesting ‼️🤔💭
blame them sending the animation work to so called america. looked like crap when they did it but when handled in japan it looked amazing i believe.
If you have time check out the short lived remake of this series it's actually good they gave back stories to the other cats. Can't say the same for the new thunder cats it looks awful.
@@maosama3695 Αwful puts it mildly////////////////
In that sense, Rigel must be the name of the central star that is the sun in the Rigel system.
I'd love to see a Mumm-Ra origin story where he destroys First Earth and constantly battles his good counterpart Mumm-Rana over control of Second Earth.
I used to watch this cartoon when I was a kid. I never watched it in chronological order. Thanks for the explanation about it all.
I’d forgotten it was all Jaga’s fault...how could he have known that hurdling the equivalent of 1000 nuclear warheads into a volcano would have catastrophic effects...😏
Actually Snarf is more capable and cunning then what most give him credit for. He's also the show's emotional anchor.
On some occasions it's he who saves the day, that is, when all the other 'Cats are out of commission for whatever reason.
@@Robidu1973 Indeed.
As in the episode when Snarf is offered to retire and return to the nearest Snarf colony it nearly breaks my heart at seeing how heartbroken both he and Lion-Oh seem.
I always looked ar Snarf as "Comedy Relief". All great stories have that element!
Yup Snarf Was Cold In His Own Right Rite Ryte
Everyone who watched all the episodes AND the movie set between the two seasons know this stuff. You aren't telling us anything Thundercats fans don't know.
I really liked the music on the background. Please tell us what it is called. I watched some 20 videos on the channel and nowhere is a music artist listed. PLEASE SAY WHAT THE MUSIC IS
Snarf, Scrappy and Screech were not annoying and completely necessary!
I always wondered why Jaga save only a few Thundercats of a possible population of millions and how exactly they were going to increase their numbers with only 2 females in a dangerous new environment. .
There's actually an episode where Snarf saved all of the Thundercats in Mumm-Ra's pyramid.
I thought the video was going to be about sexual innuendos or something like that hahaha
5:10, pause the video andcheck the tag and then the still
They didn't wanna say the show was a paid program for Viagra. Mumm Ra and the Mutants only wanted Lion-O's sword because they were impotent.
Even as a kid, it blew my mind that the entire cast of characters spent the first episode naked, except for cat fur.
Yes. I wasn't quite 9 years old, and I questioned that.
I think it’s time for that live action movie. I know it’s a 45 plus yr old nerd in Hollywood that could make this happen.

This, my friends, should become a movie!

I love Cheetara’s outfit, I soooo want to replicate and wear it! I’d love to cosplay as her.
Snarf was by no means annoying! I’m binge-watching ThunderCats right now, and as a 90s baby, I appreciate the ThunderCats

Thundercats roar. It’s basically the teen titans go version.
