Ariana as Cat Valentine was the best part of Victorious. She was dizzy and funny but also sincerely captured a neglected theater kid. I think she’ll be great.

Oh, NO one can top Kirstin & Idina! I still crack up when I watch Kirstin sing "Popular." 😄 Amazing singers who had great chemistry. Buuuuut... I saw Ariana Grande singing "The wizard and I" and I thought she did really well.
Cythia Errivo has a Tony award for best actress in a musical so I'm not sure how much better it can get than that? They were never gonna cast the og cast this long after the fact
@@pstmdrn_werewolf yeah....i won't front I understand people being a little concerned with ari (i think she'll do amazingly) but cynthia is criminally slept on. she has AMAZING range as a singer and as an actress every movie I've seen with her she has nailed. she started as a theatre girl from what I can tell so this feels like the perfect contiuation of her story
Just adding on to say I think it’s important that people separate these two experiences (the broadway and the Hollywood ver) I think anyone who sees this isn’t thinking it’s going to be BETTER than the OG and anyone who is looking for this to be a 1 to 1 adaptation with the exact same energy will be disappointed. Instead of looking at what WONT be the same they should look for what this adaptation can bring to the table that’s new or can be better showcased. Ie the immersion of the world. The sets and effects look amazing and while the stage musical does its best it’s limited to purely practical effects and one has to suspend their disbelief and imagine a lot of what the world looks like. There is also the potential to add more of the book into the movie version than the play and with two movies instead of one really develop some of the relationships that felt rushed like elephaba and fiyero. I wouldn’t be worried about the music as the two leads are powerhouses in the vocal department and while it won’t be “live” vocals they will be studio and so I suspect we will hear interpretations of songs in ways the stage versions might have felt we’re too risky to attempt on a regular basis
